.
1. Kris is if Anthy was an Enby and also a videogame protagonist instead of a bride.
2. Noelle is Anthy-adjacent, can become Utena-adjacent in a normal route, or be completely Anthy-ied in Snowgrave.
(And people tend to under/overestimate how much control she has over that route - she didn't ask for it, despite her fascination with horror - but she acted it out despite being able to know something was wrong.)
3. Someone said Ralsei is rosebriding himself, and that's not wrong, but ralsei is like Miki - a prince who would rather pretend he's in control of the systems of power and enforce them for a sense of identity than dismantle them and learn how to live without them, with the caveat that the prince is not the one who suffers the consequences first.
(Miki explaining his TragicBackstoryTM that gives the impression something bad happened to his sister when Kozue sleeps in the same room as him -
Ralsei explaining how he's a lonely prince with no friends aside from Kris and Susie when Lancer is five feet away from him and is shown to befriend people in five minutes (Kris & Susie), and also, they know each other.
It shows Some kind of ugly condescension with both characters in regards to the people closest to them.
Miki crushing on Anthy and Ralsei crushing on Kris - it would be innocent if not for 1. Quasi-incest, 2. Anthy & Kris can't meaningfully say 'No' for personal and external reasons.
I mean. Ralsei is better than Miki on account of not being as mysoginistic.
Ralsei is also better written on account of the story of Deltarune dissecting Ralsei's soft prince persona.
And also consistently bullying Ralsei when he gets too caught up in his own Darkners-worship-lightners worldview.
Anyways, people who take these boys' soft boy personas @ face value and ignore the red flags in how they speak over others and feel entitled to a certain amount of respect despite doing very little to earn it
VS
People who assume neglected insecure slightly shitty teenage boys are Evil Masterminds for showing symptoms of neglect, when they also barely have authority to show.
Fight.
4. Susie's fucking Naruto - she doesn't respond to any of the Utena archetypes.
(Similar is Lancer - he and Susie are genuinely messy in a way that goes against the elegance of Ohtori.)

Do you ever think that Ralsei is just trying to protect Kris from the players who choose the bad time route in Deltarune? Because I do.
Look, I get it, Flowey in Undertale pretended to be Frisk/the player's friend, and ultimately ended up backstabbing us, in addition to being guilty of many terrible things that occurred previously in the game. The thing is, I knew that was going to happen from the very beginning because it was heavily hinted at. He introduced himself with lies about how the game works. After neutral endings, he talks [[Hyperlink blocked]] garbage about the other characters. He's untrustworthy.
This is not a thing that happens with Ralsei. Ralsei is an entirely separate character from Flowey. Everything Ralsei says to Kris/the player turns out to be demonstrably true. On top of that, Ralsei is as nice as he can be to the other characters, and he's consistent about that. I don't think it's in his nature to backstab people.
Of course, I may be wrong! And if I am, that's fine! You can come for me at the end of Deltarune when we find out that Ralsei was the Knight all along (if that happens. I don't think it will).
It just seems strange to me that I've been seeing a lot of posts recently talking about how Ralsei is "off," "plotting something," "suspicious" - especially in reference to his relationship with Kris during the bad time route. I wouldn't describe Ralsei as any of those things. I think he's friendly, thoughtful, and helpful. I trust him. Then again, I never played (and never will play) the bad time route.
Don't get me wrong; if you choose to play the bad time route, that's your prerogative, and I'm not judging anyone for it. Just remember that your choices have nothing to do with Ralsei's actions. His character's actions are very consistent.
I also enjoy seeing analysis posts on the characters, because they are all complex and interesting. And yes, Ralsei is very mysterious, but that doesn't automatically make him bad.
tl;dr - I'm giving Ralsei a chance, and if he breaks my heart, that's on me.
