I’ve been trying to draw fanart for this fic ever since it came out. Finally got around to it!

I think one of the coolest things about this fic for me was reading the author’s comment “Do you know what this story is about?” and being completely uncomprehending until, about this exact moment in the chapter when Mumbo drops the helmet and pulls out the stuffed bird. It was staggering to me the implications of the helmet falling? Like there’s this feeling that the helmet keeps Mumbo emotionally stable by merit of distance. He knows the consequences of his actions in the abstract, but there’s always a barrier there, keeping it from being unbearably personal, until the exact moment he has to literally face them. I’m a sucker for a good metaphor and this was,,,, a really really good one.

Just finished my first fic for @renegadepublishing’s binderary!!! Today on the chopping block, this is about a stuffed bird, by @theminecraftbee!! I’ll be honest I started this project completely on a whim while waiting for paper to arrive, but I’m so so proud of the results.

This fic was a present for my wonderful roommate, @majestic-ruiqing, since I know it’s one of her favorites and wanted to do something nice for her!

The cover art was done by my friend @tea-with-veth, who sent me some art that she drew a while back so that I could use it.

For the technical side, I actually leaned how to chisel a textblock correctly!! So this book has some of the nicest edges I’ve ever done. Not to mention, this was my first time doing splattered edges, which turned out very nice. Also my first time making paperless bookcloth!

Happy (late) Birthday, Stuffed Bird Animation!

I’m accidentally a day late, but May 4th (yesterday), was the one-year anniversary of my Stuffed Bird animation! It has been a full year since I posted it, and it is still one of my favorite things that I have ever made.
