Inspired by @missolivialouise who I have seen posting on the subject of walkable cities, and neighborhoods recently. I wanted to do another of these short essay things (do y’all like ‘em btw?)
Just finished up reading the book Sprawl Repair by Galina Tachieva

It contains everything you need to know about how to actually do this stuff. From policy, the environmental and watershed considerations, urban transport node design, and design patterns to allow for and inspire interventions

If you end up reading the book or others like it on the subject and want to give it a go, or are in to Cim City or Cities Skylines and like the transport design elements, and why not try out Podaris (disclaimer: friend of the blog) and use your actual town or area as your map! That feels pretty solarpunk, and also why not. Plus.... you know....those games don’t have hyperloops... :D

If transports not your thing, maybe look into community neighbood projects or check out the work of Brad Lancaster author of Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands and Beyond 1+2 in Tucson Arizona.
Brad Lancaster

Tucson's resident rainwater guru Brad Lancaster explains how he has transformed the sidewalk along his street into an oasis of hardy desert shrubs and fruit-bearing succulents. Lancaster cut away the curb where storm runoff from the street can flow to where it is needed to water plants and has shaped the landscape to make full use of the desert's sparse rainfall.
