I’m genuinely curious based on your last few posts: why all the wlw ships? They’re all super cute but I’m curious now.

"Why" as in "why do I ship them"?

Miriam/Raifort: I like their hypothetical dynamic (they have no interaction in the game). Cheery but sarcastic failgirl nurse meets stoic, weird, obsessive history teacher. I think they balance each other well and have a lot to teach one another.

Yamushipping (Jessie/Cassidy): I'm a big "Jessie and Cassidy are exes" truther and I like their relationship in the context of their Team Rocket training days. I think Cassidy was Jessie's first long term stable relationship and they broke up because of Cassidy's existing ego and Jessie's growing ego. A very compelling story to me

Alolan Joy/Alolan Jenny: You just have to watch Sun and Moon. They're literally married

Lillie/Mallow: Rich girl and humble chef/waitress. Mallow's always looking out for Lillie in the show and Lillie seems to care deeply for Mallow. They have A LOT of screen time together

🤸 —— ! happy opening day everyone, i'm so excited to be here. i'm sol (they/xe) and this is my manic pixie failgirl moon saein --- ran from the bad clutches of his family six years ago, only to end up in the arguably worse clutches of a nefarious circus troupe ( as one does ) , then finally came limping back to gaenari a week ago.

THEN:

moon saein, born in 1999, single child of moon seonhee and moon bomin. they're descended from one of the first families to build houses in gaenari, so they go a long ways back if anyone else is old blood !

his father's a big stickler for tradition and legacy. rumor has it that his marriage to seonhee was arranged and bomin, who was feral for a successor to carry on his torch, saw her as nothing more than a way to extend his bloodline. i'm taking inspiration from carrie for his childhood, so if you know the vibes...then u know.

formerly a chronic runaway. his parents were already disappointed that he turned out to be incompetent when it came to the construction family legacy, but the runaway antics were when they really gave up on him.

it was a typical cry for attention. they could've gotten angry, they could've punished him, he would've taken anything if it meant that, idk, they actually gave a shit about him? but it was like he was invisible if he wasn't serving them a purpose.

would run away intermittently between 13-17yrs old, culminating to 6 years ago when he finally, properly ran --- a very abrupt and fevered decision, and the first time that he actually gets out of gaenari. he ends up in daehan, where he spends a year just surviving. if anyone has a muse who was also on a bender in daehan around 5-6 years ago, hmu, they could've gotten fucked up and self destructive together : )

after daehan, he ended up joining a circus, for a lack of a better word. it was a traveling troupe of performers and they performed on makeshift stages in glitzy masks, and at that point it was the most magical thing saein had ever seen in his little sheltered life.

saein meets his mentor eunha there and she helps him become one of their most reliable performers --- showy, impressive acrobatics leaping through the air, twisting up hanging silk ribbons. to the audience, it's all shows and gimmicks, but eunha insists that there's something more at the heart of their shows. that there's magic. saein, prone to fantasy and romance, completely buys it.

the catch: there's a test that all performers go through before they're considered a permanent part of the troupe. eunha says that if he does, the magic will be pleased with him too. and saein would do just about anything to make somebody proud; he agrees without a second thought.

the test involved him helping out with a vanishing act. you can read more about it in his background, but basically it ended with him falling into a small, dark, locked box for over 12 hours, screaming for help and terrified that no one would remember to come looking for him.

when the test "ends" and he's "rescued," he can't talk or sleep properly for a full week. eunha wants him to try again. she says she knows he can do it, he just needs to be stronger.

saein can't deal with the pressure of disappointing her 🤘 he sneaks out a few nights later, quiet and inevitable, and runs right back home.

NOW:

his parents aren't happy he's back, borderline pissed about it. they tell him to find his own place to stay. he's therefore now eun street's latest resident at apt. #403 (and looking for a roommate!)

a receptionist at the gym. he plans to befriend security to let him stay a little longer after hours, bc the acrobatics were actually therapeutic and he needs someplace to keep practicing.

i'm thinking it has only been a week or so since he came back? he's been quiet.

in general, he's quieter than before. still animated if you get him going, but he's jumpy and prone to spacing out these days. to anyone who knew him before, it's a notable difference from the bright eyed, bushy tailed kid he used to be.

he came back bc he convinced himself that there was something calling him back to gaenari. is it magic here too? is it some cosmic entity that lives inside of the mountain and wants him carnally? or was he just so terrified of disappointing eunha that he had to make up a fantasy excuse to leave them too? who knows! 🔮

when he's not working, he's wandering around claiming to be listening to the ghosts of the mines or laying out somewhere on a field, head full of tumbleweeds.

PLOTS:

people who knew him before. his parents tried really hard to downplay his existence when they couldn't control him but that probably came off as them trying to sweep the ""bad seeds"" under the rug.

people who didn't know him before. he's marveling at all of the little ways town has changed and the new faces around.

people he met while he was in daehan 5-6 yrs ago. this could have been anywhere from a quick meeting to a months long spiral into codependency (jk! unless)

it would take more plotting, but i'd also love a connection with someone who knew of/once watched/was also part of the troupe that he was in? maybe someone else he helped out of that circus and brought back to gaenari or someone who followed him here?

ever since his “test” he’s been terrified of sleeping in locked rooms, and just small, closed spaces in general. maybe someone runs into him freaking out while they’re someplace confined and has to be like Hey .. Calm down?…

he likes to ride the bus/trains out to daehan sometimes just to feel like he's going somewhere. give me someone who's on those late night rides too, who maybe also knows a thing about the dark.

any old friends he left behind; except for the muse involved in his one established plot, he didn't tell anyone he was leaving

for anyone looking to stay a little later at the gym too, they'll start to constantly find him there, so he could sneak them in absolutely with no questions asked.

any fellow people out there with family issues lol. they can commiserate and give each other advice that they can't follow for themselves.

I think the funniest thing about characterising kagrenac - or rather, characterising the PERCEPTION of kagrenac, one that they willingly curate, the reality is more complex - as an extremely methodical 'type A' intimidatingly put-together prodigious perfectionist that everyone likes to think is some kind of utterly exceptional "genius"* is that they're most famous for just completely and utterly fucking it up. like TRULY fumbling the bag, making the biggest fucking mess of things. little mx perfect, iconic failgirl. funny that.

it's not my game its my friends game! im just obsessed with it.

it takes place in this really prestigious university that's dubbed the 'crucible academy', and its about a band of students coming together as a team and having to like, learn to work together while horrible shit keeps happening around them

essentially, they have to seek out the shackles binding the grim majesties, to imbue them with light once again so that those queens remained sealed away! gotta delve deep in dens of darkness to find them. so far uhh no luck yet - so far it's still in it's 'setting up the main plot' stage, so interpersonal drama has taken the lead

mostly about how one of the player characters, kiandra, has a destiny intertvwined with a much more volatile and dangerous older magi-girl - the destiny says that they're gonna kill each other no matter what, and that theyve done this in their previous reincarnations. which is i mean enough to freak anyone out tbh kiandras goin thru it she tried to reach out to the other girl and its exploded

so far we got hana who is a weeb failgirl thats mostly unstable and not managing her social awkwardness at all, she's got a piece of her past life stuck in her brain and the much more ruthless, experienced magi-girl can take over when transformed so theres tension there

so my love plays kasimir , a polish exchange student severely into HEMA and music (in that universe hema is a big deal and he's on a sword scholarship) and he's like got this whole thing where he sees himself as a knight and a sacrifice and there to take any blows we love that (it's unhealthy) (an endless line of dead bodies in an endless line of wars!!). (he's got his shit together the most its tragic) hes my lil blorboman i love him soooooo much he'll charge at a bunch of scary monsters without blinking but play his music in front of other people??? NOT POSSIBLE

gwen is a babydoll who im also obsessed with shes like a super-rich girlie with HER OWN BUTLER who isn't light touched but they are like, sworn in on all that light shit, theyre a levelheaded person to contrast with gwen's bubbly girliepoppery. she has hidden depths though its kind of terrifying how she can switch from hiiiiiii omg hiiii into like raised-as-a-business mode. she EMAILS her PARENTS to schedule CONVERSATIONS????

speaking of emailing their parents to schedule conversations we have constantine who is another exchange student (greek, and old money loaded) who loves to plan his schedule weeks in advance in a terrifying efficiency that neglects to actually give him like, time to chill or relax. he's an introverted SNIPER MAN and hes a relatively new addition so im excited to see more of his particular brand of insane

and then we have mark who is also a late addition and hes full of secrets. i know the secrets bc im friends with his player but i forget how much is knowledge to the rest of the party (who follow me on tumblr) rn! so lets just say hes a silly goofy boy and fate will NOT let him be silly or goofy :')

james is yet another valentine sibling there's so fucking many of them. and they just keep adding more guys to the family. stop doing this (i'm the one doing this)

anyway james is probably the most failgirl loserboy sibling of all of them because she dropped out of high school in her final year. then tried to cheat her way into college. succeeded? sort of??? didn't even have to pay for her first year and even managed to get things sorted for her second year but then she just. dropped out again. she got bored. basically

james has never really had any big plans for herself so doing fuckall was perfectly fine with her. it bothered her older sister becca a little bit but not in the sense of thinking her younger sibling was lazy it was more just. she was Very worried about james. but also didn't really know how she could help :( meanwhile james ended up in an apartment with her twin brother aubrey and did some odd jobs here and there to help pay rent and lived like that for a pretty long time until she got married :)

james and her wife were very happy until suddenly they weren't anymore and then just got a divorce and they're still friends now :) it's all good. divorce rocks. after that, james decided to start doing work as some sort of private investigator and she still does that to this day on the side, she's very good at snooping and existing in places where she's not actually allowed to be without getting caught so she's perfect for the job. undercharges people for the work she does because she really just wants to help people out

her main job nowadays is a security job at the club bodytalk! she's not really allowed to do anything else because she's not customer friendly enough but that's fine with her, she likes her job as a bouncer and wouldn't have it any other way :) gets together with luna at some point as well but i still need to write more details about that so that's a story for another time teehee

so they don't have any art just yet, bit here's a general description of the new characters;

Poppy: kind of like if a failgirl was a guy but also not a guy at the same time, the most accident prone individual you will ever meet, can talk about so many things at once but never remembers what they already said

Jello: somehow the most neon colored thing in the backrooms, creatures fear them, will run up to creatures anyway like an excited Chihuahua, talks really fast but somehow you can get the point anyway, probably bites

Wren: a self proclaimed problem solver, usually just gets lucky while winging whatever they're doing, would be the only braincell out of the three of them if they weren't also very likely to cause more problems on purpose

and they're all dating hehe

they stay in one of the safe zones in the backrooms, sometimes venturing out together for supplies

who knows how often they'll be able to have bathroom breaks hehe :3
