BG3 Companions Social Media Headcanons Part 1
I was bored at work and couldn’t stop. 🤣 I’ll make another post with Halsin, Minthara, Jaheira, Minsc, and some NPCs!
~~~
Astarion - Pre-Tav, Astarion's social media is mostly thirst-traps for some kind of nefarious, Cazador-related money-making plot. They barely scoot past the TOS on lewd content. Very little real personal content, anything that isn't a thirst trap is heavily doctored lifestyle content to make it seem like he's living a much more luxurious life than he actually is.
After meeting Tav and getting rid of Cazador, he deletes all of his old accounts and opens up new ones. They're not exactly private, but he's much more careful about who he follows and who can follow him back. The posts become much more genuine. Still a lot of selfies, but they're sexy in the way of a guy just finally living his truth and being comfortable in his own skin. There's more shots of his daily life; waking up with his partner's obnoxious pets strewn across the bed, morning coffee and his current favorite book, new outfits that make him feel more himself. Tav features heavily in most of his posts, and there are probably as many pictures of them as there are of himself.
Karlach - chaos. No rhyme or reason. Lots of parkour and Jack-ass parodies. Constant flood of pictures of her stuffed animal collection. Stupid filters abound. There's several videos of her just flexing. Lumberjack videos. Seven hundred pictures of Tav, tons of selfies together. Videos of her literally sobbing over some cute stuffy she found or a dog she got to pet. "How many times can I say the fuck word before I get suspended." Memes. Memes everywhere.
Lae'zel - She follows three accounts and never posts anything, but somehow she's constantly scrolling through. What does she even do? Her profile picture is still the default. She doesn't have any profile information filled out. It just says "No." Her screen name is just Lae_zel. Every single item in her favorites is a cat video. She has One photo and its a gym selfie. All of her comments seem really mean at first, but they're all weirdly supportive things along the lines of "your teeth are sharp and your visage terrifying".
Shadowheart - total E-girl influencer vibe. Everything is #nofilter. She doesn't need filters. She's god's most perfect princess. You can't even be mad because it's not vanity its just how she Is. Ends everything with Prayer-hands-emoji hashtag Shar'sblessings or Selune'sblessings depending on where she is in that journey. Hairstyle and makeup tutorials and she makes it look so damn easy. "Dye my hair and cut my bangs with me." "Get ready with me" videos nearly every day. Every picture has a comment from Astarion that just says "oh fuck off" because even he can never hope to be as perfect as she is. Or at least that's what her forty-five thousand followers think.
Wyll - The official Blade of the Frontier social media account(s). Fencing videos and promos. "How to polish your horns for newbies" video that's been taken down twenty-seven times for lewd content even though it's literally for polishing actual horns. Accidental thirst traps because damn. Lots of disability advocacy, especially for visual impairments. Weekly Demon/Devil PSAs. Constantly featured in Karlach's vids and vice-versa. Buddy selfies. Once in a while a pic of him with his dad. Pics with Tav are rare, but when he does post them they're the sweetest pictures and he gushes about them for paragraphs. It's a little gross how gushy they are. Astarion comments with vomit emojis and Wyll just replies with an angry face emoji. The purest content. He's so wholesome. Not a swear to be seen. Lots of gentle hype videos. "You've got this. You can do this. I believe in you."
Gale - oh my god he has the most pretentious social media accounts. He's worse than Astarion. "Well, actually" videos with multiple parts because they're too long. Tea and bookshelves. Tara. So many pics of Tara. Tara napping on a book. Tara swatting a fly. Tara in the window. Tara on the kitchen counter. Tara laying in the sun. Tara doing nothing. He has one of those fancy cat terrarium backpacks. Magic tutorials. Mystra simp. Surprisingly few selfies but the ones he has are IMMACULATE. Pretentious book reviews. His only saving grace is that he is HILARIOUS. He's the only one with a reasonable about of pics with Tav as opposed to almost none or way too many, but the captions are always really sweet.
Wrote a little fic inspired by this meme. Art is not mine!
Astarion/Half succubus bard oc. Cat calling, references to SA, comfort, friends to lovers, partners in crime, protective Astarion
Might eventually become a more put together fic, if it does it would be a slow burn friends to lovers
Tumblr media
“Do we have any other takers? Any more bets? How about you, sir? Betting man?” the gorgeous bard beamed while she played a melody to raise anticipation on her lute.
“You know what? Sure.” The man tossed a couple gold into the pot.
The crowd cheered while Astarion gave a close lipped smile, eye fucking a couple of the women in the group.
A few more coins trickled in, clinking against the others.
“Now watch and be amazed as I throw this dagger, up to the second floor, it bounces handle side down off that, that then that,” he pointed to a couple of things, “and into the center of that barrel.” He announced with a flourish, parading around dramatically.
While he distracted the crowd, the bard cast a little spell to ensure he’d succeed. Astarion felt the power and confidence surge as her spell took effect, making a big show out of throwing the dagger.
While it flew through the air, Liv took the opportunity to pick a few pockets then make her way to the front before the trick shot was over.
As the blade hit home, the crowd was a mix of cheers and jeers.
“Aww better luck next time, friends!” She offered a supportive smile that hid the inward smirk she felt.  She validated a few peoples feelings and casually got each of them to walk away.
The bard scooped up the gold while the rogue retrieved the dagger. They smiled at each other for a moment before quickly and discreetly leaving the area.
To an outsider they’d look like lovers exchanging a look. But they knew they were shit eating grins of victory, and they were in fact not lovers, but 200 gold richer.
Each.
As they reached the end of the alley, they waved to Gale, who stood with hid arms crossed. “Again? Really?” he glared, falling into step on Liv’s other side.
“Oh relax, you benefit from the spoils too. Most of this ends up going to potions and gifts for you.” The half elf snickered, purposely hip bumping him.
The wizard’s glare softened and he ducked his head. “I suppose that’s true. But if you two get caught, you’re on your own.”
The elves smirked at each other, “Somehow I think we’ll manage.” Astarion turned his ruby gaze to Gale who rolled his own.
The men grew uneasy while the trio walked by a group of men who began to whisper after them, staring at Liv in particular. The vampire could have torn their heads off with his bare hands for the disgusting way they spoke about her.
Gale glared back at them, putting an arm around her shoulders protectively. “Honestly, Liv, we can’t take you anywhere civilized.”
“I’d hardly call this place…much less those meat sacks civilized.” Astarion agreed, now wishing he’d been the one to grab her first.
“I’m not doing anything on purpose.” She muttered, dropping her chin.
“Boo hoo, it must be so hard being effortlessly gorgeous.”  The vampire rolled his eyes.
“When I cant go anywhere alone without being hassled, propositioned or having wives threaten me for stealing their husband’s eyes-“ “And hearts.” Gale added.
“Right. A few of them did say that.” She pouted, “I know I can more than take care of myself but I get so…” she crossed her arms over her ample chest and shivered with a frown.
The group had noticed fairly early on she seemed fairly oblivious to the leers she got everywhere she went, and that  when she no longer was, the attention made her extremely uncomfortable.
She could flirt her way out of trouble no problem but was easily flustered and nervous if a man just started commenting on her body. It made a pit form in her stomach that stayed until someone else from her party found her.
Even Shadowheart had played the role to make the men think they had no chance.
She sighed, “And Astarion,” he looked at her. “You sound jealous when you say stuff like that. You’re too pretty to be jealous.”
Gale smirked as the vampire’s jaw dropped for a moment, blinking in surprise “I…er..um..you’re absolutely right.” He pushed his hair from his face and shook out his shoulders, “You passed the test.”
Liv rolled her eyes while the wizard shook his head, a small smile on his lips.
Red eyes grew annoyed as he saw this, prompting him to cross his arms and pout, “I’ll meet you back at camp.” He strode of into the masses of people on the street.
The pair laughed, keeping their leisurely pace.
“He adores you,  you know.”  Gale told her once their laughs became little giggles.
Her cheeks grew dark, “No, he would have made a move by now if he did. We’re just good friends.”
He arched an eyebrow, “Is that so?”
She mimicked him, raising her own and dropping her voice, “Yes, that is so.”
The wizard made a face, “You’re too good at that.”
Wind whipped her long blonde hair around while carrying her laugh.  “What can I say? I give a performance like no other.”
Liv yelped as a hand seized her elbow. “I bet you do, babe. Why don’t you come with me and give a private show?”
Her entire body froze as ice set in, eyes wide with fear as her legs stopped moving.
“I’m going to give you one chance to let go of the lady and be on your way.” Gale’s voice dripped with venom in a way she’d only ever heard in situations like this.
The barbarian sized him up then laughed, yanking her arm confidently, causing her to stumble closer. “Fuck off, mate. If you can’t defend your woman, don’t bring her outside.”
They couldnt go throwing magic in the middle of town, the creep knew that.
What he didn’t expect,  was Gale to cast a hold person spell, locking him into place.
He then gently unfurled the man’s fingers from Liv’s arm and put a protective arm around her waist. “You need to learn some manners. Best hope we don’t ever meet in a battlefield.”
The man’s eyes burned with rage as Gale pressed a kiss to the still shocked bard’s temple and led them back into the crowd.
She pressed herself into her companion’s side all the way back to camp, trying to match his breathing the entire way.
No one knew what caused this reaction in her, but they had an idea. None dared broach the subject and figured talk if and when she wanted.
Normally in battle, she was fearless and thoughtful. But when confronted with someone like that barbarian she locked up.
When they returned to camp, Astarion had already thought up a snappy quip-the perfect amount of sting and sass.
Unfortunately,  it died in his throat as soon as he looked over at them. One look and he knew.
Gale was softly rubbing her forearm, reassuring her while he led her to his tent.
The vampire frowned and exchanged a look with the wizard on the way.  He immediately regretted his hasty exit earlier. He noticed pursuers were more easily deterred when she was with more than one man.
Astarion silently crept over to listen, able to hear their magic friend leading her through breathing exercises. When she’d calmed down, Gale finally left the tent to get some dinner.
He was about to stand only for Shadowheart to beat him to it, heading toward Gale’s tent to comfort the half elf.
 Annoyed as he was, he knew for Liv’s sake that only one person could be with her at a time.
Much to his dismay, she stayed for an entire hour and a half.
He started to head over only to stop in his tracks when the tent door moved and Liv emerged, looking tired but otherwise okay other than her red cheeks and the fact that she used a spell to change her appearance to the one she preferred-the one that more clearly showed her half-drow ancestry.
Her skin kept its pink hue but her hair shortened to a pixie cut, blonde at the root morphing into silver tips that sat perfectly in place. Her blue eyes shifted to one bright blue and one silver. A ring sat in her septum above her lips that wore a coat of black paint, matching her winged eyeliner and eyeshadow.
Her pointed ears were dotted with two in her cartilage on both sides, and a silver ring on the lobe. She bore tattoos of solid black up her throat with flame-like tendrils licking at her jaw, a small flame adorning her forhead.
This was who she preferred to be. Who she felt the strongest,  and most confident as. It was also her defense.
The others knew not to be surprised or comment on what she decided to look like that day. The long blonde look was always used for public performances; it had even earned her the title “The Angel” by word of mouth.
Astarion thought she was perfect both ways, but he knew the other men liked The Angel, while Shadowheart and Karlach shared his adoration of who he dubbed the demoness, the little devil, and simply the drow.
She hadn’t noticed him,  and headed for her bedroll by the fire.
Astarion’s chest tightened as he realized he was too late to comfort her. If he hadn’t ditched her this probably wouldn’t have happened. They’d be sitting around the fire while she played her lute and told them legends and stories.
He should have stayed. This was his fault.
He should have stayed.
Jaw clenched,  he thought, I’ll never abandon you again, my angel. You have my word I will remain close at hand.
What he couldn’t see, was her small smile as their tadpoles relayed the message in his voice.
In fact, he'd been so distracted that all his thoughts of guilt and protectiveness were made privy to the blonde.
He didn’t know it, but they grew closer that night without him ever speaking a word.
--
The following morning when they returned to the little town of Hodge to continue their search for information. Gale noticed Liv go out of her way to insure they passed by the same intersection from last night.
It was fairly early and the roads were fairly clear,  blue sky above them.
As they neared it, Gale stepped forward and took her hand. To everyone’s surprise, she turned her blue and silver gaze to Astarion and held her other hand out to him.
Shadowheart pouted as the visibly confused vampire somewhat hesitantly took her hand and walked on her other side.
Liv squeezed both of their hands as they strode down the road like they owned it. When they got to the next street, she pressed a kiss to the back of Astarion’s hand and gave him a grateful look before letting go and repeating the gesture with Gale.
The vampire blinked in surprise as an odd fluttering feeling danced in his stomach, Gale’s cheeks darkened a little as he returned her smile.
He followed her blindly like they were magnetized, eyes wide as he tried to make heads or tails of this feeling.
Her still short hair shined like silver in the sun, contrasting the warm, sunny light from the blonde near her scalp. Even painted with dark makeup, she was breath taking-silver septum ring glinting back at him a top her confident smile.
Especially when she was exuding confidence like she now was, leading them through the streets to their first contact.
Her rapier carefully tucked into her overcoat, lute strapped to her back, she walked through intersection exuding joy once again.
Astarion’s maroon eyes stayed locked on her profile while he continued to remain at her side. Gale went to talk to Karlach, leaving the two side by side leading the group.
The vampire's eyes flicked down to her hand, yearning to hold it again; to feel her soft, dainty hands in his calloused but well manicured ones.
The butterflies in his stomach hadn’t quite settled down yet-he’d heard some young women gossiping recently and learned that’s what it was called.
Though if it meant what they insinuated it did he refused to believe that was what was happening to him.
He supposed Liv was pretty enough…oh who was he kidding?  They didn’t call her The Angel  for nothing. She was beauty incarnate, in both of her forms. Her movements were naturally elegant and graceful, her acrobatics during battle were unreal.
Everywhere she went an air of lavender and vanilla followed. You couldn’t be in a bad mood when she was around-he would know. He tried.
She was exactly what Cazador would have sent him after.
At that, he looked away from her shamefully. He didn’t deserve to walk beside her, figuratively or literally. His steps slowed so he could merge with the others but this stopped when her hand brushed the back of his – making his breath catch for a moment as sparks shot up his arm.
She caught his eye and winked, a small smile on her soft lips.  “Walk with me, Astar.”
He was about to scold her for the nickname but for some reason from her he didn’t mind it.
“Gale holds your arm through town.” He murmured quietly as they walked.
Her cheeks darkened, “So he does.”
“It’s only fair-rr- I mean….proper.” He collected himself. “It’s only proper that a lady gets escorted.” He raised his chin, keeping his eyes ahead.
“Of course.”
“After all, you tend to get sidetracked and lost.”
“Sounds like me.”
“Hells forbid you see a cat!”
A  little annoyed now, she glared, “Are you gonna do it or what?”
“Of course I am, don’t be stupid!” Came his rushed reply just before he almost aggressively looped arms with her like Gale often did.
Behind them, the entire team silently laughed. Gale crossed his arms over his chest, batting away Shadowheart to pretended to try and loop arms with him. He turned away from her and glared playfully before pushing her into Karlach who caught her then gave her arm a reassuring pat before going back to minding her business.
Astarion glared venomously at any one that looked at them too long, thankfully only a few people due to her still being in little demon form. He felt like her bodyguard, and as such had to be the scary dog that made outsiders keep their distance.
And unlike most bodyguards,  he actually HAD bite.
Meanwhile, Liv was blissfully unaware of the mission he’d given himself, waltzing down the street casually.
When they arrived at their agreed upon meeting place, Liv wanted to go in alone but the entire group was quick to shut that down.
“Just in and out-it’ll be quick. Everyone leaves happy, no big deal.”
Astarion’s lips quirked up in a grin while he held his laughter, little sounds sneaking out. Karlach immediately began to belly laugh, drawing the attention of a few townspeople. Gale sighed and shook his head while the bard looked at him oddly.
“Sweet summer child.” He pressed a patronly kiss to her temple and hugged her cheek to his chest for a moment.
With knit brows, she let him hold her for a moment. “Anyway, any alternative plans then?”
“Well, you aren’t allowed to go anywhere alone so write that down.” The vampire rolled his eyes, missing her little smile.
“Our best bet here is to not arouse suspicion, and to appear as normal as possible to blend in. I think Liv and I should go in together,  since we look the most like the locals." The wizard spoke up.
“Human, you mean?” Shadowheart asked, crossing her arms at the other half-elf.
“And not head to toe in armor. Not exactly common garb in these parts.”
She relented, “Liv and I could go. Two women won’t look odd and I’m sure she has an outfit I can borrow.”
Gale gave a snappy retort, angering the Cleric. They bickered over who was going in with Liv until Karlach  physically turned their heads to show them Astarion had already whisked her away and toward little café, both in all their silver headed glory.
After casting an apologetic look over her shoulder, she spoke “You didn’t ask me to put on the angel.”
He paused, “I’ll never ask you  to change, darling. However you feel best is how I want you.”
She squeezed his arm, smiling up at him while he avoided her gaze.
Luckily everything went according to plan for once and they got another lead.
Before they returned to their team, waiting in the distance in the town square, they decided to slip out the back door  to see if they could make a few extra coins.
Liv put on the angel to aid in the con on her own accord, excitement in her stomach as she and Astarion approached a small group of people already with a game in progress.
---
“Where is she? I need to see her.” Astarion pushed past Shadowheart and headed toward Wyll’s tent.
“She’s going to live. Don’t interrupt her healing session. It’s…private.” She trailed after him, wishing Wyll hadn’t taken some personal time away so he could cast a hold spell.
Ordinarily  Shadowheart was stronger than Astarion, but now he was in a protective rage, eyes blazing like a wildfire as he sought his little devil.
This fueled him to overpower her, tugging free of her grip and delivering a sharp shove that sent her on her ass, blinking in shock.
He entered the bubble of silence cast around Gale’s tent and froze as he recognized the sounds of lust and sex, as well as the all to familiar scents that went along with it.
His blood ran cold as he hid and peaked in. He knew what to expect but was still aghast when he saw Gale on top of Liv.
Liv’s nude body was dotted with scrapes and bruises from their last fight, her head lulled to the side, eyes half open. She didn’t react much to the wizards deliberate, confident thrusts, her breasts bounced in recoil to punctuate each one.
Gale bit his lip, brows knit as he began to speed up. Liv's shallow breaths along with a few gasps softly joined the other sounds.
Astarion felt rage like never before and had the biggest urge to reach straight through Gale’s back and pull out his still beating heart.
But he knew that was a bad idea.
Liv’s head turned to the other side and she accidently met the vampire’s eyes, her own going from half lidded to wide, cheeks ablaze.
Feeling much like a scorned lover,  though not sure why, he silently sneered at her and left.
--
The following morning, the air was tense between the two troublemakers-Astarion and Liv.
Gale hadn’t noticed him, and she hadn’t told him.
She avoided her rogue as much as possible without drawing attention, seeking a distraction.
Otherwise back to her normal self, she pulled her violin from her bag of holding  and began to play an upbeat jig, a smile on her face as she watched Karlach and Wyll prepare breakfast.
Gale and Shadowheart clapped in time with the music, smiling and enjoying the morning.
His eyes narrowed at Gale as he approached, considering how he could catch the wizard’s robe on fire, stopping short to watch the end of the song.
Liv hesitated a bit upon seeing him, but being the professional she is, she didn’t let it hiccup the song. Gale noticed the jovial mood in her eyes dulled, and used his tadpole to connect to the vampire -immediately realizing what had happened.
The bard finished the song with a flourish of her bow then bowed for the applause  that came from everyone that didn’t drink blood.
Gale connected to Liv for a moment to see if she knew, appreciating that she told him the truth and didn’t make him search her memory.
I think it’s time to tell him, Angel. He’s the only one that doesn’t know and he’s clearly upset.
She sighed, I have to, now. We can’t keep going like this.
He gave a short nod, then made an excuse about wanting to show Liv how to feel the weave so they could both go into the woods together.
They were correct in assuming Astarion’s jealousy would have him tailing them.
Once they were away from camp, his body froze mid-step as Gale cast a hold person spell on him.
The pair turned around and headed over to him, ignoring the slew of curse words falling from his fangs.
“What in the hells do you think you’re doing?!” He growled at last.
“We need to talk- and by that I mean you need to listen. We can’t have you attacking Gale or running off before we explain.”
He glared at her, inwardly annoyed that the passing breeze carried over her lavender scent.
“I’m not sure what I saw other than the two of you acting like a couple of randy teenagers.”
Liv crossed her arms, nodding, “That’s exactly why you’re stuck right now.”
Gale’s lip quirked up for a moment at her flat tone before he spoke, “That’s all you saw? Are you absolutely sure there was nothing else of note?”
“Gale, darling, I’m not going to comment on the size of your staff if that’s what you’re fishing for.”
The wizard blinked in shock, blushing,  “No! No that’s not what I meant.”
Standing slightly behind him, Liv giggled, cutting herself off when Astarian glared at her again.
“Think back. Really think-I’ll even help you.” She cast a focus spell on him while he huffed and closed his eyes.
His mind’s eye took him back Gale’s tent, his eyes glued to the scene before him. Liv looked exhausted from their last battle. Her body was scraped and bruised here and there and bags sat under her eyes.
Her baby blues lacked the spark they usually held.
The vampire knit his brows, growling at the other man. “Did you do something to her?”
Gale’s jaw dropped, Liv spoke up and vehemently denied it.
“It’s not like that either. I look right as rain today, right?” she gestured to her face- bright and clear as always.
He nodded.
“You know I’m a half elf, right?”
“Of course. Drow-correct?”
Liv smiled, happy he remembered that given her normal, warm and sunny appearance. “Right. Well…it turns out…the other half wasn’t human.”
“I’m sure you’ve noticed Liv is much more adept at magic than a normal bard…hells I’ve been trying to convince her to let me train her as a spellcaster…”
She rolled her eyes.
“Anyway, the other half…my father…was an incubus. So…I’m half elf half-“
“Succubus.” Astarion sneered, “It all makes sense now. The power you hold over others with the simple toss of your hair.”
They waited to see what he would say next, giving him a moment to think.
“That’s why you look so much better than you did…last night.”
She nodded, “I seem to have an odd mix of traits and abilities. My little demon appearance can’t be washed away by any manor of magic because it’s still real. When I take after my father, I become the angel. But my mother was the drow.”
“It doesn’t trigger my detect magic ability either.” Gale added, “Because of her half succubus nature, every week or so she needs to be…reset, or she gets sickly and weak.”
“That’s why she’s gotten so much stronger since the began traveling together.”
Liv blushed and shuffled her feet, “Look, I’m really not as smooth as I pretend to be-its an act.”
The vampire was quiet for a long while, “So when you say you cant sleep alone-“
The half elf gasped, “Not every night! God’s Astarion I’m not an animal! Gale told you…once a week. I try to hold out for as long as I can though…” she looked down, “I know it’s a big ask. More often than not I just need to cuddle.”
Gale patted her shoulder, a kind smile on his lips. “I assure you it’s no toil for us. I admit it can be difficult when you’re…in rough shape but knowing it’s the best way we can help you-“
“Mmmhm nothing to do with the fact that you get to have sex with her, I’m sure.” The vampire cut him off, winking when he was done.
The wizard’s warm brown eyes widened, cheeks darkening-it was certainly not a chore, but an honor.
Liv quirked an eyebrow at him, stifling a laugh and trying to force the corner of her mouth down.
Astarion relaxed as he watched her reaction to this. His jealousy faded as he realized for Gale, and hopefully Wyll, this was a friends with benefits situation, not a romantic relationship.
“Oh do let me go now. I’m listening.”
After a nod from Liv, Gale released the hold spell.
Astarion straightened himself and pushed his hair back, shaking off the stiffness. “The girls were already aware, I’m assuming?”
Liv nodded. “Unfortunately, my succubus healing only seems to kick in with men. I guess I need a…bridge to transfer.”
“You had sex with Shadowheart?”
Gale raised an eyebrow, “You tried to.”
“Well yes, but for a different reason. It’s not the same.”
“If anything, my reason is better than yours.” Liv glared.
He tilted his head, “Is it? Who’s to say? Besides, it only makes sense to gather as many…potential healers as possible and keep one on hand at all times. It was smart of you to try, since the two of you normally pair up when we split.”
Silence for a beat.
"Though I must tell you, I thought we were closer than this, little angel.” He turned to her. “Why was I the only one left unaware of your…condition? Did you not want my…” he gestured to his body, “help.”
Gale turned to her, too, curious.
The bard blushed, keeping her eyes on the ground. “We've always been great friends and I didn’t want to risk making it weird.”
“So you didn’t think it weird to proposition your companions weekly to steal their energy when they orgasm?”
Silence.
“It's really not bad. One sip of a health potion and you're back to rights.” Gale defended her.
“Alright, well,” he approached Liv, who shyly looked up. “This doesn’t change anything between us, darling, not if you don’t want it to.” He tilted her chin with one finger. “But if you decide you do, I assure you I’m more than capable of not treating you any differently if we slept together; dearest friend of mine.”
Her cheeks blazed, lips parting in shock. Gale rolled his eyes and looked away while the two had a moment.
He knew his friendship with Liv was clearly different than whatever it was she had with Astarion, so hearing her admit that hadn’t stung like one might expect. It was no secret the two had more in common, more laughs and a knack for getting in and out of trouble.
Gale, as well as Wyll, knew what this was.
Giving the half elf a wink, Astarion turned around and headed back toward camp.
She didn't ask for his help yet, but he hoped she would.
And when she did he would be whatever she wanted him to be; a simple friend with benefits due to a caring heart and sense of obligation or...maybe...
Well he wasn't sure but he was looking forward to her helping him find that out.
i wanted to take a crack at the relationship chart meme for bg3, but made life harder for myself in the process by doodling everyone asdfghjkl
a bit of info about the relationships under the readmore!
so to start from the top and work around clockwise:
Astarion: her best friend, her partner, and love of her life. his flippant hot-n-cold attitude at the start of their relationship (she failed that first big insight check so she didn't know it was all an act at the start) leaves her feeling bad about herself at times, but once they have their Act 2 heart-to-heart, their relationship only goes from strength to strength. we all know what a supportive and loving tav does for spawn!Astarion, but over the course of their adventure he supports her, too. they make each other stronger.
Rhapsody's self sacrificing need to help everyone, no matter how thin it spreads her, comes dangerously close to breaking her by late Act 2. Astarion talks her back from the ledge, so to speak, and helps her realise why she's doing it (Family Trauma Hour 2, Shitty Father Boogaloo) and the harm it's doing her in turn. it's purely self-interest that motivates him at first, because if she burns out then his protection and best chance at taking on Cazador goes with her, but once he comes to care for her his motives are much kinder.
i have so many post-game thoughts for these two, which includes an eventual cast of good old Reincarnation (which i honest to god rolled for and nearly squawked at the outcome) and the very specific complicated feelings that digs up for them, but if i keep typing i'll be here all day.
-
Gale: truly one of her best friends. she could sit with him in silence, just reading together, or her playing an instrument while he studies the weave, and be perfectly content. Rhaps is a lore bard, so she really enjoys swapping stories, information, and theories with him. she's also a big fan of his cooking, and enjoys the simple companionship of doing vegetable prep while he cooks and they chat together. she'd go to bat for him against anyone.
-
Wyll: a dear friend, and inspiration for more than one epic ballad (which makes him proud-blush every time). they swap tales, often together with Karlach, and he's been known to join her in a song and dance when she plays at camp if he's feeling in the spirits. they bond over complicated relationships with their fathers, love of good red wine, and most importantly, their unflinching dedication to helping people in need.
-
Lae'zel: their relationship is complicated. they both operate on a level the other just does not understand, and chafe against the others attitude to life. they grow to respect each other, but never truly become friends, which is sad because Lae'zel does get to a point where she'd like to extend that offer but has no idea how to voice her growing fondness, and then the adventure is over and she leaves with Voss.
-
Minsc: definitely a friend, even if they're not especially close. for his part, Minsc is delighted when Rhaps comes up with a little ditty about him ('from top to tail, evildoers do fear - Boo gnaws their eyes, Minsc kicks their rear!').
-
Jaheira: Rhaps' liked Jaheira immediately, as soon as she clocked the wine was spiked and Jaheira gave her that knowing smile and asked her to drink anyway. Rhaps grew up starved for parental approval and attention, and there's an undeniable current of Momther™ that carries with Jaheira's approval, stories, pick me ups, and pep talks that she latches onto very quickly. Jaheria herself is reluctant to be seen as a mother figure, she has her own kids after all, riiiiiight up until the point the gang come face to face with Rhaps and Aisling's father and she sees first hand how she's treated and how much she wilts in his company. After that it's just kind of defiant instinct, if a parental-flavoured pep talk is what the cub needs to get through the end of days, that's what she'll get, and her old man can go get fucked.
-
Shadowheart: Shadowheart and Rhapsody have a rocky start - Shart's combative attitude puts Rhaps on the backfoot, and they have a two steps forward one step back slow-crawl to understanding each other. There's a bit of a blow-up between them in the shadowlands that sets them back even more; Shadowheart's constant sneering and too-edgy-for-you remarks regarding Selune and Selunite magic grate on Rhapsody, who is already spread desperately thin by this point and is absolutely baffled Shart can't keep it buttoned for ONE minute when Selune is all that's standing between the people at Last Light -the tieflings she fought tooth n nail to save- and a gruesome death. and the more evidence they see of Shar's cruelty in the shadowlands, the more Rhaps begins to truly understand what Shar is capable of and the thinner she's spread from trying to help people in this bleak situation, the closer she gets to lashing out, until eventually Shadowheart goes one snippy comment too far and Rhaps blows up at her. they have it out, and it's bad, but when they eventually make up afterwards theyre stronger for it, and by the end of Act 3 theyre a lot closer than they ever thought possible.
-
Halsin: Halsin is a calming presence in Rhapsody's life. she thought turning down his offer was going to make things awkward for them, but it never did. there's a lot to learn from him, and a call to a calmer life and a sense of peace that Rhaps feels most keenly when she's out in nature with him. the druidic life isn't for her, but those moments of peace do wonders for her when she needs it.
-
Karlach: darling dearest bestest friend, platonic love of her life, sister from another mister, 'would absolutely ride the rollercoaster in the front car with you' bestest best friend forever. Rhapsody adores Karlach, admires and is inspired by her. Rhapsody has had very little interaction with other tieflings, and in comes Karlach full of friendly cheer and good humour and a massive heart, emotional vulnerability and honesty and cheeky smiles, all things Rhaps is drawn to and wants to be. she'd do anything for her, go to any lengths, and I can't even begin to describe how heartbroken this makes her on that dock at the end.
Can we see your durge? :oc if not no worries I'm just curious!
Of course! Have a lil WIP of her in all her evil glory 🥰 (Hope I can finish this anytime in the next century lol)
Tumblr media
Her name is Sandra, she's a war cleric of Gruumsh/oathbreaker paladin and she's Totally Bad Not Good Unredeemable. I haven't posted much about her bc I'm still in ACT1 with her (Im replaying Khael and campagn that takes priority).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fun fact before I even got through half of ACT1 of all the compainons only Astarion and Shadowheart were alive/present. I dont know how long theyre going to last though lmaooo
Tumblr media
She's another iteration of my DnD character Alasandra, who Ive played for a couple years in a homebrew campagn! I also played with her in Solasta (another DnD game, that I suggest checking out!) He's all three of her together for the meme:
Tumblr media
I also technically have a Redeemed Durge character that's based on another DnD character! His name is Chan, he's a warlock and a cinnamon roll who can do no wrong 🥹 (which makes me chosing him as a durge an awful parent)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here's how he looks like!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(So uhhhh I decided to fill this out for both my OCs, since I haven't really posted much for Skora and needed to flesh both of them out more, so umm don't mind me 🖤)
name: velwyn melarn name: skora aldisian
nickname(s): vel, v, wynnie (hates the last one though) nickname(s): kora, sko, allie
pronouns: she/her pronouns: she/her
star sign: scorpio star sign: virgo
height: 5' 4" / 162.5cm height: 5' 9" / 175.2cm
orientation: pansexual orientation: pansexual
race: drow (bhaalspawn) race: half-elf (sun elf/human)
romancing: astarion romancing: shadowheart (might be karlach depending on how her playthrough goes 👀)
fave fruit: cherries. fave fruit: dates.
fave season: less so a favorite season and more so she likes whenever there's a storm going on. something about the feeling of the rain/snow on her skin feels invigorating and the catharsis of everything being washed away. fave season: winter, preferably indoors and cooped up next to a hearth.
fave flower: orchids (ones that grow in the dark especially). fave flower: irises and hyacinths.
fave scent: iron, mint, and eucalyptus. fave scent: sea salt and cedar wood.
coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: coffee to compensate for the lack of rest most days. prefers it black with a minimal amount of sugar. coffee, tea or hot chocolate: many various types of teas. she's a bit of a snob about it actually (affectionate).
average sleep hours: it would be the standard 4 hours of trance, if not interrupted nightmares or the debilitating migraines brought on by suppressing her bloodthirsty urges. average sleep hours: skora is adept at quieting her mind and can reliably/consistently get six hours of sleep even under the most dire of circumstances.
dogs or cats: quasits, owlbears, intellect devourers. pre-events of the game it wasn't sustainable for durge to have pets, and she finds herself drawn to the more unconventional ones. dogs or cats: skora has a fondness for dogs, having grown up with many hunting dogs in her youth.
dream trip: pre-tadpole there was no point in dreaming of travel for pleasure, outside of her father's vision of a world covered in corpses. post the events of the game i think she'd just like to see more of the world beyond what the underdark/bhaal's temple has to offer her. dream trip: i think she'd like to return home to the isle she is from, she hasn't been there since childhood due to ~certain events~ and i think having a partner/friends in tow might help make that journey palatable.
amount of blankets: it doesn't matter how many you put on her because there's a 98.7% chance she's going to end up kicking them off at some point. secretly, velwyn prefers the compression of her partner acting as weighted blanket. amount of blankets: one, no more than two. barely moves in her sleep and wakes up in the morning with the blankets exactly where she left them the night before.
random fact(s): velwyn ❤️
velwyn is quite the sketch artist, and she keeps a journal (almost like a book of shadows) in the game chronicling her journey. some of the sketches can be a bit disturbing, though, especially if she's a fondness for the subject. (e.g. a rather gruesome sketch of astarion because she didn't know what to do with her feelings towards him)
fluent in common, undercommon, elvish, deep speech and knows some abyssal and infernal as study for a certain heist.
likes to collect weird shit for study and experimentation later. has led to some 'accidents' around camp during the squad's downtime.
knows how to stitch wounds together exceptionally well, will stubbornly insist upon patching herself up half the time until she becomes more comfortable with the concept of other people taking care of her.
enjoys being challenged and called out on her own shit by others, even if she'd never admit that.
random fact(s): skora 💙
fluent in common, gnomish, celestial, primordial, elvish, draconic and also knows common sign language.
knows how to sail from her family's business, but actually gets incredibly sea sick.
while in school, she double majored in abjuration and divination with minors in illusion and necromancy magics.
has an astigmatism but refuses to 'correct it' with magic, so she'll pull out glasses while reading.
she has a natural calming presence and a quiet confidence, she doesn't feel the need to gloat but will put someone in their place if pushed.
I suppose you want to hear about...
Me! Hi!
So first things first, what is this blog? Despite this name, it's actually Not a Shadowheart exclusive BG3 blog. The name is just a play on a joke I made with some friends that there is a DEEP lack of Dark Justiciar Shadowheart and Dark/Jealous/Possessive content for her. While I, of course, get and love our precious, wholesome Selunite baby, there's a lot of untapped potential for her Sharran Side. There's already a whole post I made on why I think you can definitely pull off a Yandere/Obsessive Shadowheart if you're interested. Can find that post Here, if you're interested.
This blog will be
Astarion and Shadowheart focused. BG3 blog maybe a random aside thought?
Not everything will be Yandere/Dark
I would like to be heralded as a Meme Queen, thank you
YES, I write fanfiction too, there's no escaping us.
I have SO many prompts/ideas/drabbles to share with you guys too
Maybe an opinion or such, like the Yandere Shadowheart post
Requests? Don't trust myself to do them in a timely manner. Suggestions of things to write? All for those, hmu girlies
I write a longfic on AO3 called I Want To Live. You can find me... Here!
I also now write a story called His Star - His Queen and that can be found... Here! Or if you prefer to continue reading on Tumblr I have a master page I call the Chapter Index and the link can be found... Here!
My Tumblr name is different from my AO3. I have yet to transplant my drabbles to my AO3 but if you want to stalk and stare at the relative void of my page, you can find me Here! My name there is A Random Introvert.
My inbox is open in case you guys aren't aware. There's really no limit on what you could send in that I won't reply to.
My Masterlist can be found here!
If I'm perfectly honest?
I'm actually a Spawn!Astarion simp more
ALRIGHT PUT DOWN THE PITCHFORKS I'M JUST BEING TRANSPARENT HERE.
But I've always had a weakness for dark romance, yandere content, obsessive/possessive/jealous content, and Ascended!Astarion has that in SPADES. So does Sharran!Shadowheart and DarkJusticiar!Shadowheart just saying.
Hence why the profile picture and banner feature Astarion and Shadowheart. This blog is for both of them, as I simp both.
Now not to come across condescending or anything, I know most people are aware what a yandere is. But just in case there are some newbies/uninitiated in this sacred, unholy character trope. Never want people to feel awkward or unwelcome or even ashamed they don't know something.
There are many other tropes that tend to be interwoven into a yandere. It's hardly ever their only trait. You can learn the rest by reading that, and your own research.
Look, I may be a Spawn!Astarion simp but I'm very staunch in my belief.
This is above all a No Judgement - No Shame blog
We can all enjoy ascended Astarion or Obsessive Shadowheart or whoever else you want to make a dark character. We can, because we can all acknowledge that no one in a healthy frame of mind would actually want to be with a Yandere in real life. But here, in text and words, we can enjoy it for what it is. A fantasy. I have a partner (hi babe) who is the complete antithesis of a yandere. I am actively writing a double Yandere electric boogaloo fic on AO3. Which they actively read and I talk about often. Doesn't change that I want a healthy relationship. And if I ever got a hint that they were recreating the scenes I was writing, I would ***SPOILERS*** drop faster than Shadowheart's parents when she kills them that's dark and I'm not sorry nor feel bad for it ***END SPOILERS**
That said; I welcome you to this little blog of mine and wish to be welcomed to this fandom if you would let me.
I think we're going to have a lot of fun together
OC Meme
Tagged by @messiahzzz – thank you! I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about Tynera on my blog, but I did promise myself I would share more of my creations in 2024, soooo...
Tumblr media
A quick rundown – she’s a seldarine drow who turned her back on Lolth when she found her way to the cult of Lathander, and subsequently became a cleric of his.
In BG3, she chooses to see the tadpole as a test to show that she can persevere through adversity and bring light and new beginning to the darkness, as Lathander teaches. She made generally “good” choices and romanced Lae’zel. As of the epilogue, the two of them are living together close to where Shadowheart made her cottage, raising Xan as their son and supporting the liberation of the Githyanki people from afar.
Basics
- Full name: Tynera Maerret
- Gender: cis female
- Sexuality: bisexual with a strong tendency towards women
- Pronouns: She/her
Other
- Family: House Maerret – a minor noble drow house I created
Father: Kinastyrr Osviir
Mother: Laraea Maerret
Grandmother/main childhood attachment figure: Neerlinva Maerret
Birthplace: Maerimydra
- Job: Cleric of Lathander – I imagine that she’s pretty far down any hierarchy, as she hasn’t been a cleric very long yet.
- Phobias: if any, a light case of agoraphobia
- Guilty pleasures: spending days on end in luxury baths, expensive jewellery. Also whatever the Faerûnian equivalent of violent slasher movies is.
- Hobbies: dancing, singing, poetry performance – she doesn’t really write herself, but she enjoys reciting poetry with friends
Morals
- Alignment: Lawful Good
 - Sins: Pride, Greed, Gluttony
- Virtues: Determination, Idealism, Compassion, Courage
This or That
- Introvert / Extrovert
- Organized / Disorganized
- Close-minded / Open-minded
- Calm / Anxious / Restless
- Disagreeable / Agreeable / In between
 - Cautious / Reckless / In between
- Patient / Impatient / In between
- Outspoken / Reserved / In between
- Leader / Follower / Flexible
- Empathetic / Unempathetic / In between
- Optimist / Pessimist / Realist
- Traditional / Modern / In between
- Hard-working / Lazy
Relationships
- OTP: Lae’zel/Tynera — it started as a fling, but honestly neither of them is made for casual arrangements. Tynera fell very quickly for Lae’zel’s resilience and devotion. It takes longer for Lae’zel to allow herself to recognise her feelings, but once she does, she melts into Tynera's warmth like a cat basking in a ray of sunshine.
Lae’zel calls Tynera, as in canon, “zhak vo'nfynh duj” – my joy. Tynera calls Lae’zel “sussun ussta” – my light.
- Acceptable Ships: none.
- OT3: see above – Tynera would probably be open to having sex with others, but she respects Lae’zel’s wishes for exclusivity. On an emotional level, she is also monogamous.
- Brotp: Yes ->
-  Gale/Tynera— they are both fairly passionate in their respective fields and are glad that they don’t have to hold back in the other’s presence. Gale’s more relaxed level-headedness helps Tynera shed some of her more impulsive and judgemental tendencies. Likewise, Gale basks in Tynera’s unwavering support and affection.
- Shadowheart/Tynera — In the beginning, they butt heads a lot, since their gods are explicit enemies. Over the course of the game, they start to realise that they have much more in common than sets them apart. Shadowheart helps Tynera find ways to incorporate her faith in their daily lives, when they are in the shadow-cursed lands, where it’s difficult to perform sun-related rituals. They also share a taste for the macabre.
- Notp: none, she gets along with almost anyone. Though, now that I’ve finished her PT, I don’t think it makes sense for her to end up with anyone of the companions but Lae’zel.
Tagging: @faerielli, @zerfindung, @kaldurcalm, @lewdisescariot, @ghastlytofu, @athousandcowboys and whoever also wants to do this!
Karlach/Lae'zel: NSFW Alphabet Meme following the idea from @linka-from-captain-planet
(A to Z prompts answered for each of them)
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
There is not a moment that Karlach does not want to touch. After sex is as great a time as any to curl up with Lae’zel and hold her close to her chest. If Lae needs a little space she’ll sprawl out next to her and wrap her tail possessively around Lae’s thigh. Lae’zel on the other hand is not in need of aftercare almost ever - but she does praise Karlach profusely when she takes her well. She is dutiful in looking after her lover's needs. She even lets Karlach curl up and gives her little braids while she rests.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s
She used to be a boobs woman but being with Lae (for obvious reasons) has made her way more into hands, she’s also taken to rubbing her hands along Lae’zel’s back. She’s obsessed with the ridges she has there. Lae’zel is an ass and tail lover - when she has Karlach in her favorite position (on her hands and knees) sometimes she just rides her ass to get off.
C = Climax (anything to do with climax, basically) I changed it ;)
Karlach is a loud lover - she likes to moan and scream her way to her climax which used to make Lae’zel confused. Now, they make a game of how quiet she can be and if she’s very good Lae will let her vocalize as much as she wants when they’re alone. Lae’zel always lets K go first, then follows up with her own needs. She won’t end it until she’s climaxed at least twice. If they’re in a rush read B ;)
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Karlach likes to watch Lae’zel argue with Shadowheart. She doesn’t see it as flirting but Lae showing her genuine disgust, which to her is very hot. Lae’zel enjoys fucking Karlach within eyesight and earshot of everyone, she has conquered the best among them and wants everyone to remember it.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Oh, both are excited to please each other but they are not as experienced since they are not very old. Karlach is the least experienced and is constantly being put into new positions and situations by Lae’zel who while not experienced is very studied.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Karlach’s guilty pleasure is Lae picking her up sometimes. The first time she was so shocked but after she realized she could do it easily it is on her mind a lot. She returns the favor of course. Lae’zel likes to be serviced and in charge so her favorite is sitting on Karlach’s face where she can use her face like her personal toy.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Karlach is sweet but by no means goofy in bed, she’s trying to get fucked as much as possible. That is serious business. Lae’zel would never, idk why you asked.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Karlach doesn’t bother with shaving, she let’s Lae have her like she is. Lae’zel shaves what little hair she has for efficiency, that’s it.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
Karlach makes love, encourages, wines and dines all of that. She wants Lae’zel to feel all of her all of the time and brings it into every moment they have together. Her favorite is caressing her face and holding onto her back as she is being fucked. She tells Lae how beautiful she is throughout. Lae is doing her best. She rewards Karlach with affection whenever she can but is not a romantic, at least not in the traditional sense. She does try to tell Karlach during how amazing she is though.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Karlach used to masturbate a lot in the hells, but now whenever she starts Lae’zel is there to help her finish. She doesn’t want Karlach to have a moment of need that goes unanswered. She sees it as her duty to satisfy her lover. Because of that she barely masturbates unless she thinks Karlach will see it and take over.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
In the heat of battle is easily a Lae’zel kink, she wants to be at the precipice of glory, turn to Karlach and fuck her right there. The thought alone gets her wet most nights. Karlach wants Lae’zel to lose control and is very into blindfolds these days. She is into overstimulating her wound up lover as much as possible.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Beds are something Karlach is very into now that she’s not in the hells. She likes the idea of plush around her as she takes all Lae’zel can give her. Lae’zel does not care, never will care, she will have sex with Karlach where she pleases.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Powerful, strong, warriors are all it takes to get Lae’zel started. There was a long time where Karlach couldn’t really think about those type of things but now that she can she’s found herself attracted to passionate and motivated people. She sometimes is in awe of everything around her and needs a reminder to get things done.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
After her time in captivity Karlach is not into knife play or being excessively bound. It makes her think of not great times. Well, horrible times. Lae’zel is open to most things but with Karlach she doesn’t like too much degrading as she thinks too fondly of her to be seen as weak.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
She’s overly excited so Karlach might not be the BEST at giving head but it still gets the job done. The forked tongue does wonders as well. She prefers to give more but would never close her legs to Lae’zel’s advances(who would?). Lae’zel is amazing at giving head, she is focused and powerful with every motion - being pressed between Karlach’s legs brings her so much joy, but leading her head while Karlach is eating her out …. That is also at the top of her list. She’s 50/50 on this one.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
There is only the pace of making sure her lover climaxes, multiple times. Lae’zel will switch it up to make sure she is giving Karlach exactly what she wants. Karlach is still very very sensitive from being touch starved for so long that she always starts slow and sensual. There are body parts to rub, full skin contact to make, kisses to leave. When she’s on top she is so transfixed on Lae under her that she slowly starts to speed up until she is slamming into her and telling her how great of a job she’s doing.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
After years of none she asks for quickies multiple times a day. She cannot be sated - any shady spot, abandoned building, open field she is ready to be fucked and to fuck. Sometimes she makes Lae wear easy access pants just so she can sink her fingers in quickly. Lae’zel is surprisingly less ready to go than Karlach but still very ready. She needs to satisfy her lovers wants, so she rarely says no unless she thinks it will harm them (there’s a trap nearby or something).
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Both of them are willing to experiment as long as adding people isn’t involved since Lae'zel is super not into that. As far as risks… they don’t think so. Having sex so others can see isn’t risky if you don’t care what they think.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
The warrior babes can go a lot of rounds but Karlach is always the first to tap out since she climaxes easier. Don’t worry give her a quick rest and she is ready for the next round.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
They both own straps. Karlach is really into the blindfold and Lae'zel has tried cold stones over Karlach's tail to add to her pleasure.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
They’re both not super into teasing, they’re into having sex. Karlach doesn’t need anymore teasing in her life and Lae’zel thinks it is stupid.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
As above Karlach is very loud when she is climaxing but gives growling orders/praise when she is in control of Lae. She likes to hold her down sometimes and whisper in her ear all of the praise she can. On the other hand Lae’zel is quiet but praises afterwards or encourages Karlach when she is taking a bigger strap/more fingers.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
They purposefully get Karlach as hot as possible until she is almost burning Lae’zel to have some of their longer sessions. Lae’zel sees it as training and Karlach finally gets to give her aftercare.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
Lae’zel is toned and lean, Karlach has so much muscle and curves that it should be a crime. Specifically that ass.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
This couple is different because it is in fact high. Karlach has time to make up for and Lae’zel is down for the ride. They become more sensual as time goes on but with short lives comes high desire.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
The teddy bear herself is asleep so quickly that Lae’zel is often still talking to her. Lae’zel takes care of everything around the camp and then goes to sleep after. She has to protect Karlach even if she knows she can protect herself.
Chapter 11: Talkin' to Myself at Night
The night of what she’d started referring to as “the incident” in her mind, Fallon didn’t sleep. Her mind was too busy. It was one thing to imagine her boyfriend and ex-boyfriend kissing, or imagine herself as the middle portion of a vampire and sorcerer sandwich, but it was another entirely for those fantasies to become a reality. Add in the fact that “the incident” in question occurred without her consent, and Fallon was left feeling truly unsure of how she felt, or if coming to some sort of arrangement with Astarion and Gale was something she even wanted anymore.
Fallon felt betrayed, and not just by Astarion. Gale swore that he never wanted to hurt Fallon again, and it took him less than a month to break that promise. Not only that, but once upon a time, Gale told Fallon that he was only interested in monogamous relationships. Fallon also knew that if the situation were reversed, and she were the one kissing Astarion without Gale’s consent, that Gale probably would have broken up with her on the spot upon catching them. The hypocrisy was rampant, and the hole in her heart that began to fill after rekindling her friendship with Gale was leaking again because of it. All of the reasons Fallon told herself that she couldn’t open her heart to Gale again (beyond the sexual relationship with Gale and Astarion she’d already fantasized about) were completely validated less than twenty-four hours after she’d even realized it was something she might want.
Then there was Astarion: the man who’d seen how fragile her heart was, glued the pieces Gale broke back together, promised to take care with it, and then promptly dropped it on the ground to shatter at the first opportunity. When she first met Astarion, he’d been all honeyed words of affirmation with a perfectly crafted persona to entice Fallon and the rest of their companions into trusting him as a method of survival. Was that still all she was to the vampire? A means to an end to ensure he survived another day? Had Astarion been playing the long con this whole time, and Fallon fell for it? Deep down, Fallon knew this wasn’t true; that Astarion loved her fiercely and genuinely. However, the logical part of her that knew this was currently being completely overpowered by her insecurities and anxieties, both of which were screaming at her for being stupid enough to trust that Astarion would keep his promise.
It all hurt, and the thing Fallon hated the most was that the person she would normally go to when she was hurting was the source of her pain. She thought about using her sending stone to contact Shadowheart, or Karlach, but Fallon could hear her friends’ voices in her mind already.
Shadowheart would tell her to go home– to go back to Baldur’s Gate and leave the vampire and the sorcerer to suffer the consequences of their actions and reflect on what they lost simply because they forgot to use their brains. “If they’re stupid enough to make that mistake, then they deserve each other, and certainly do not deserve you.”
Karlach, on the other hand, would probably jump straight to murder. Murder wasn’t usually Karlach’s go-to method of solving problems. Unless, of course, someone she cared about got hurt. With how happy-go-lucky Karlach was most of the time, it was easy to forget that the tiefling-turned-illithid once served in Zariel’s army, and that she killed a lot of people on Zariel’s behalf. “Say the word, soldier, and I’ll meet you in Waterdeep, sneak up on them in an alley, and make their deaths look like an accident.”
The solutions her friends would likely offer Fallon were not actually reasonable, or helpful, because they were just different forms of taking the easy way out, of running away from her problems. In the end it wouldn’t solve anything, and the person that was most likely to suffer most would still be Fallon. After all, how she felt about Astarion hadn’t suddenly changed in the wake of everything. How she’d started to feel about Gale again hadn’t gone away. Walking away from the two halves of her heart would do nothing but break her further.
At the end of the day, Fallon wanted to give Gale and Astarion the benefit of the doubt. She wanted to believe that “the incident” had been as unexpected and unplanned as they said it was. She wanted to believe that Astarion and Gale actually cared as deeply for her as they claimed.
Most importantly, she wanted them , and at the end of a sleepless night into a restless morning, that was where Fallon’s mind landed. The men who claimed to love her so deeply would get a chance to prove their love, but she would make them work for it. There would be no glossing over their infidelity and jumping right into a conversation about what being “together” as a threesome would look like. No, she fully intended to make the vampire and the sorcerer squirm, and to sit with the consequences of their actions for a while; to make them see earning her forgiveness was not as simple as saying “Sorry, it was an accident, we love you!”
Fallon slipped out of the inn in Daggerford as soon as she was certain the shops were open, and purchased her own tent, as she had no intention of sharing one with Astarion for the next three days while they made the final leg of their journey to Waterdeep. Fallon knew herself, and having Astarion that close would increase the opportunity for her to have a moment of weakness, to fold too soon.
When she returned to the inn with her new tent slung over her shoulder in a bag, Astarion and Gale were in the tavern, where the latter was eating breakfast. Astarion noticed her enter the tavern first, and he nudged Gale, nodding in Fallon’s direction. Gale looked at Fallon hopefully as she made her way towards the table. Fallon did not sit down as she observed the two men. They both looked tired, and Fallon did not even feel bad about the fact that knowing they slept like shit too brought her a little bit of joy.
“I’ve decided I’ll be sleeping in my own tent for the next couple of days.” She explained, acknowledging the bag over her shoulder. Astarion’s eyes flickered sadly as he realized they were not forgiven yet, and that his actions would cost him more than a single night without Fallon in his arms.
“What you did, what it means…Quite honestly, just looking at the two of you hurts. You don’t get to treat me like that and expect me to carry on like nothing happened, even if the idea of the three of us being an “us” is something I want to talk about. I refuse,” Fallon’s voice was cold, and she could feel her throat threatening to close up as tears welled in the corners of her eyes. Gods dammit, she was not going to cry in the middle of the fucking tavern. She furiously blinked back her tears, averting her gaze from Astarion and Gale since looking at them was just making it worse. “I need more time. When I’m ready to talk, I’ll come to you. Be ready to leave in an hour.” She did not stick around to see them silently nod their heads as they agreed to her terms, or the way that they guiltily looked at each other because they made her cry (again).
Fallon did not speak to Gale or Astarion unless absolutely necessary for the next three days. In fact, a passerby would have assumed that somebody had cast a Silencing spell over their group, with how quiet their journey from Daggerford to Waterdeep was. Fallon’s silent treatment made Gale and Astarion hesitant to even speak to each other in her presence, and while Fallon hadn'tt asked them to do that, if they wanted to deprive themselves of verbal communication until she was ready to speak to them both as some form of self-punishment, she also wasn't going to correct them.
At night, after she retired to her tent for the evening, Fallon often heard them talking to each other in hushed tones as she drifted off to sleep. Each conversation was entirely about her, how terrible they felt for hurting her so badly that she was still ignoring them, and when they thought she would speak to them again.
“I didn’t think it was possible for her to be quiet for this long,” Gale muttered to Astarion on the eve of the third day. “How much longer do you believe this will last?”
“I’m not sure, but if she didn’t deign to speak to us for another fortnight, would you blame her? I consider us lucky that she’s even considering speaking to us again at all,” Astarion countered, sighing heavily, and Fallon smiled softly to herself as she listened. “We’ll reach Waterdeep tomorrow, so maybe she’ll be ready to talk once we get to your tower?”
“I hope so,” Gale said wistfully. “Speaking of which, I got a hold of Tara. Everything should be ready when we arrive.”
“Excellent. Gods, I hope this works. I wouldn’t blame Fallon for ignoring us for another fortnight if she wished, but that doesn’t mean I want her to. I didn’t realize it was possible to miss someone you see every day.”
Though Fallon could have guessed that Astarion missed her (probably Gale, too) by the way they looked at her whenever she’d grant either of them any brief acknowledgement in the last three days, it was still nice to hear the vampire say it out loud. Giving Astarion and Gale the silent treatment had been harder for Fallon than she thought it would be, because every time she acknowledged them, the hopeful look on their faces, the optimistic thought that, perhaps, the worst of her hurt and anger might be over, nearly broke her resolve. Not speaking to them unless absolutely necessary had also made Fallon miss them , too. By the time they rode through the city entrance to Waterdeep, the deepest parts of the hurt Fallon felt because of their actions had passed. The pain wasn’t completely gone, but the idea of talking to Gale and Astarion about it didn’t reduce her to tears anymore. That was Fallon’s internal sign that she was ready for this conversation, and perhaps, to begin down the path to forgiveness.
The City of Splendours was just as beautiful as the name would suggest, and Fallon was actually starting to think that Gale had somehow managed to undersell his hometown. She couldn’t help but watch Gale’s face as he took in the city as they passed through the streets. Fallon couldn’t remember the last time she saw Gale look so happy. In fact, Fallon wasn’t entirely sure she’d ever seen Gale as happy as he was in that moment.
Gale looked back at Fallon, still beaming as they rode beside each other. “If you’ll allow me to take the lead, I will escort us to my tower.” She nodded, pulling back on her horse’s reins slightly so Gale could pass, and even that small acknowledgement made Gale’s smile so much brighter. Of course, finding Gale’s tower wouldn’t have exactly been difficult even if she and Astarion had been on their own. The ornate tower was centrally located, and arguably one of the tallest buildings she could see. To her surprise, there were people waiting to take their horses to a nearby stable when they arrived, and a small bit of sadness filled Fallon as she kissed her own horse’s nose for the final time, at least until they returned. It wasn’t like the horses could go through the portal to Asha with them, and no matter how long they remained in Waterdeep, Fallon had a feeling they’d mostly walk.
The quiet filling the air as Fallon, Gale, and Astarion entered the landing level of Gale’s tower was a different kind of silence to the one they’d been sitting in for the last several days. Fallon and Astarion were in too much awe to speak, and Gale was just so happy to be home that he looked like he was trying not to cry. “It’s beautiful, Gale.” Fallon said softly as they ascended the stairs to the next level, where Tara was waiting for them in the sitting room.
“Mr. Dekarios! It is so lovely to see you sir, you’re looking much better than you were the last time I saw you– even if you still haven’t shaved that horrid thing on your face. Nice to see you both again, too.” Tara greeted them.
“Hi Tara.” Fallon giggled, not able to help herself. She remembered Gale lamenting about how much the tressym hated his long hair and scruffy face, but Gale liked it, so it stayed. Fallon liked it, too, so she was glad that Gale’s companion hadn’t managed to bully him into getting rid of it.
Gale sighed, but the smile on his face never faded as he shook his head at Tara. “It’s lovely to see you as well, Tara. I’ve missed you,” he squatted down so he could scratch beneath the tressym’s chin. When he stood again, he clapped his hands together. “Is everything in order?”
Tara hopped onto the back of the sofa. “Everything is in order and still on schedule,” she confirmed, and Fallon looked back and forth between Gale and Astarion with a curious look on her face. “Is what in order?” It didn’t take a genius to figure out that Tara was referring to whatever plan Astarion and Gale concocted to get back in her good graces, but there was a schedule?
Astarion removed his facial covering now that they were indoors again, and he gave her a sly look in reply. “You’ll find out soon enough, darling, but I’m afraid you’ll need to remain in the dark just a bit longer.”
Gale’s look matched Astarion’s, and suddenly Fallon found herself regretting putting the two of them in a situation to conspire against her. “Indeed. On that note, I’m afraid we have to kick you out for a bit,” Fallon frowned as Gale continued. “Not to worry, though! Tara has agreed to act as your guide while you explore the city”
Fallon opened her mouth to argue– she’d really been looking forward to just taking a bath and mentally preparing herself for the conversation she intended to have with the vampire and the sorcerer standing before her; but before she could say anything, Astarion cut her off as he reached into his pocket for a small satchel that had the telltale jingle of coin inside, offering it to her. “I realize we’ve not given you much of a reason to trust us recently, but I promise you won’t regret it. Please.” His eyes were soft and pleading, the closest to a puppy-eyed expression Fallon had ever seen Astarion make. Gale was already rubbing off on him.
If they really went this far out of their way to plan something for her, the least she could do is play along. Fallon let out a resigned sigh and nodded. “Lead the way, Tara.” She gestured to the door and relief washed over Gale and Astarion’s faces, the latter looked like he’d kiss Fallon if she let him. The tressym hopped down from the back of the sofa and made her way towards the door. “This way, miss Fallon.” Fallon nodded in goodbye to Astarion and Gale, smiling softly at them, and she followed Tara out.
Once back outside the tower, Tara hopped up onto Fallon’s shoulder, causing the elf to let out a noise of surprise. “Forgive me, miss Fallon, it’s just easier to travel like this– I fear you’d lose me rather quickly otherwise. Our first stop isn’t far.”
“First stop?” Fallon asked warily.
“Oh yes, this is a multiple-stop outing, miss Fallon. Astarion and Mr. Dekarios gave me explicit instructions.”
“Why am I suddenly nervous?” Fallon mused as she weaved through the streets of Waterdeep, Not a single passerby seemed to be surprised to see a tressym sitting on her shoulder, which meant things like this were just…normal here. She followed Tara’s instructions as she took in her surroundings.
Fallon didn’t know why it surprised her so much, but their first stop was a bookshop. She should have known, since this was an outing at least half-planned by Gale Dekarios. The shop was quiet, with only around twenty or so other patrons milling about and browsing books. “Hello, Norbert!” Tara greeted someone as they entered. The halfling sitting on a high top stool behind the counter looked up from his book, and as soon as he saw Fallon and Tara, his face brightened. “Ah, Tara! I was wondering when you’d be by. Let me go grab your order.”
The halfling slid from his stool and disappeared into the back of his shop. “Tara, did Gale send me out with you to run his errands?” She laughed.
“Technically, yes, but also no. We’re not here for an order for Mr. Dekarios.”
Confusion etched across Fallon’s features. “Are we running your errands?”
“Goodness, I thought Mr. Dekarios said you were a bright woman,” the tressym chastised, and Fallon frowned. “He placed an order for you, dear.”
Fallon’s face immediately softened, and her heart swelled in her chest. Of course Gale would use books as a means of re-gaining favor with someone. The halfling returned with a small stack of books in his hands, and Fallon immediately recognized the book on the bottom of the stack just from its spine. She waited patiently for the halfling to set the books on his counter before touching them. “Here you are, all present and accounted for.”
Fallon reached for the books and began scanning the titles– the first three were all romance novels, but the last book in the stack made Fallon gasp. It was a first edition copy of the book about the boy wizard. How had Gale managed to find this? The book was printed almost twenty years ago. Fallon carefully opened it, and a folded piece of parchment slipped out, fluttering to the floor. Tara jumped onto the counter as Fallon bent down to retrieve it, and she realized it was a note, addressed to her. Fallon unfolded the parchment and recognized the neat, precise script with which it was written.
“ Dearest Fallon,
As you know, when we met, one of the first things that drew me to you was our shared love of literature. Once upon a time I recommended three romance novels to you, and promised to procure copies for you after we saved the world. These are a bit delayed on delivery, seeing as we saved the world two years ago at this point, but I do hope you enjoy them all the same. I’d planned on taking you to this shop to purchase copies for you once we arrived in Waterdeep anyway and then, well, you know what happened.
You’ve obviously read the last one in the stack, but you mentioned Astarion has been hogging your copy, so I had Norbert find another for you. Admittedly, I was quite surprised when he told me that he had a first edition copy in his stockroom! What a treasure, indeed, just like its new owner.
I realize that it might seem like I am trying to buy your forgiveness, but I can assure you that is not the case. I would have bought them for you anyway, because you deserve to start doing things you enjoy again, after spending so long sacrificing yourself and your needs for the greater good. Though I do look forward to (hopefully) hearing your thoughts on the romance books once you’ve finished them. They’re quite riveting.
Yours,
Gale”
Fallon’s smile grew wider and wider as she read Gale’s not. The sorcerer might not have been trying to buy her forgiveness, but it was definitely helping. “Thank you, Norbert. These are lovely. I can’t wait to read them.”
The halfling beamed at her. “Enjoy! Gale has excellent taste, so I doubt you’ll be disappointed.”
Tara jumped back onto Fallon’s shoulder. “Tara, do we have time for me to browse for a bit, to see if I find anything else I might like?”
“We do! Mr. Dekarios had a feeling you might want to browse,” Tara confirmed, and Fallon smiled. “He said to tell you to pick out whatever you’d like, and Norbert will put it on his tab.”
Of course Gale had a tab at his local bookshop, Fallon was not even surprised. She spent the next half-hour browsing the shelves and managed to limit herself to two additional books. After all, Gale already bought her four and she didn’t want to seem like she was taking advantage of his kindness (and his desire to get back on her good side). With her books stashed in her bag of holding, Fallon exited the shop and looked around. “Where to next, Tara?”
The next shop they visited was a dress shop, and Fallon did not even need to ask which man instructed Tara to bring her here. Just as Norbert had, the elven woman running the shop recognized Tara, and she immediately greeted them both with a bright smile as she pulled a note out of a drawer on her side of the counter. Once again, the note was addressed to Fallon and was written in a familiar, elegant script.
“Fallon, my love,
I believe I still owe you a new dress after ruining yours at the Winter Solstice. The shop has your measurements, and I told them what colors you prefer, so they hopefully pulled a few things already. I look forward to seeing whichever breathtaking option you choose.
I love you.
xx,
Astarion”
Even the notes they’d each written for her were entirely in character. Gale’s verbosity extended even to paper, while Astarion was right to the point, and each note left Fallon’s heart stuttering in her chest. Sure enough, as Fallon pocketed the note from Astarion, the shopkeeper had walked across the shop to a small rack of dresses separate from everything else. Fallon smiled at the assortment of dark blue, burgundy, and black dresses that hung there. “Tara, I don’t suppose you know if there’s a specific occasion I should be shopping for, or if I’m simply just to choose any dress that suits my fancy?”
“I’ve been instructed to tell you that there are plans this evening for which you might want to have a new dress but, and I quote, 'she could show up wearing rags off the floor of the Elfsong Tavern and she’d still look beautiful, so it doesn’t matter.' ”
Fallon snorted with laughter. Even Tara’s delivery of the instructions sounded like Astarion. “Well alright then.”
There was a stool next to the rack of clothing, and Tara jumped onto it and sat down. “While I am not privy to all of the details, Mr. Dekarios alluded to the…transgressions he and Astarion committed together. As a result, he and Astarion are now both desperate to prove how much they care for you, and are equally as desperate to earn your forgiveness,”
“Well that’s certainly one way of putting it.” Fallon hummed as she began to examine the dresses on the rack before her with intent.
“So, miss Fallon, if I may make one tiny suggestion? One female to another?” There was a mischievous tone in Tara’s voice that piqued Fallon’s curiosity, and she tore her gaze from the dresses to look at the tressym.
“Let’s hear it.” Fallon agreed.
“Make them crawl.”
Offering u 13 + 14 … curious
Thank you, Julek!!! :D
13. What makes them laugh? What does their laugh sound like?
Stella likes to laugh, so she laughs easy. (Too easy, some might say *cough*Astarion,Lae'zel,Shadowheart*cough*.) She's especially fond of puns and limericks. I imagine her laugh is loud, lively, and has a tendency to trail off into giggles.
14. Do they have any inside jokes among their companions?
Oh, I'm certain they do... They spend too much time together not to. I imagine her and Karlach have several based on whatever book they're reading together at the time. I can imagine her and Wyll making up increasingly ridiculous dance names and moves to talk about in front of their companions too, to see how long it takes before one of them calls them out.
There are certain to be jokes the entire party is in on too, based on silly things that happened on the road or at camp... like Gale insisting he knows what direction to go and getting them lost, or Scratch chewing on one of the decorative bones near Lae'zel's tent and thinking she wants to play tug-of-war when she tries to take it from him.
Thanks again, Julek!!! <3 I always have so much fun with these. :) You can find the ask meme here.
8. Companion/romance death reactions
Lae'zel: "Get up, Lae'zel! This is not our last fight!" Shadowheart: "I'll protect you in Selune's name, will you or no!" Karlach: "No! You don't fall here, not after everything!" Wyll: "We've more yet to save, Wyll! Get up!" Gale: "Gale, no! Hold on, I'm coming!" Astarion: "Damn it-- no! Astarion!" Jaheira: "Jaheira's down! We've got to help her!" 12. Encountering a locked chest/door
"Locked. Though that never seems to bother us much."
"Selune forgive me, I suppose. If she cares about this particular lock."
"This didn't used to be a part of my day-to-day."
17. Looking in a mirror
"Gods, the road's a dusty place, eh?"
"I've never looked so tired."
"The glass didn't crack, so we have that."
28. Party banter with Karlach
(Needless to say, in a scenario where Hector is a companion, he and Karlach are implied to get together in a scenario where neither are romanced. :P Because I said so.)
(Act 1) Hector: "I must admit, I don't know how you dart around with that axe in battle so easily." Karlach: "Well, when the weapon's bigger than you are, it's challenging. Like an imp with a longsword - cute but unwieldy." Hector: [mock-affronted] "Well, luckily I do so well with just my fists instead." Karlach: "And look good doing it, too!"
(Act 2, after Karlach's second repair, if neither romanced) Hector: "Gods, it's bleak out here. I've never gone so long without seeing moonlight of an evening. It's unsettling." Karlach: "Well, I can't do anything about the moonlight, but I bet I could make you see stars." Hector: "What?" Karlach: "What?"
(Act 3, after Hector's personal quest (deciding to stay with the party rather than return to the monastery)) Karlach: "So... decided to keep slumming it here with us, eh, Hec?" Hector: [gravely] "It wasn't an easy decision - but I've changed too much. I couldn't go back." Karlach: "Well, I'm glad you stuck around. Too many things still need punching, and you put on the best show in town!"
33. Party banter with Minthara
Passing on this one for now as I have not really had her as a companion yet. I also have an open request from @zenjestrr to do Hector banter with Minthara once I know her better, so I'll answer this then. XD
35. How would your Tav/Durge greet a player character if they were a companion at low, neutral, high, or romanced approval?
Answered here for another similar meme; copied here for completeness. :D
“Are we there yet?” (very deadpan) (negative approval)
“Make it quick.” (negative approval)
“What new madness to deal with?” (low approval)
“You look like you want something.” (low approval)
“Name what you need and you’ll have it.” (medium approval)
“Sorry, let me mark my place– there. Something I can do for you?” (medium approval)
“My sibling in moonlight. What can I do for you?” (high approval - Selunite)
“Always glad to see you. What can I do for you?” (high approval - others)
“I swear you can tell when I’m feeling lonely. Hello, darling.” (romanced)
“My love. Tell me everything.” (romanced)
39. If romanceable, what lines would they say if a player character prompted them with, "Can I kiss you?"
"I will never say no, my love."
"Gods, please - I could use it."
[slightly giddily] "Ahhh... lucky me."
And Rakha!
8. Companion/romance death reactions
Lae'zel: "Stand - the fight's not won." Shadowheart: "Get up. Your goddess watches you." Karlach: "I will not let you die." Wyll: "No. No! Get up!" Gale: "Agh-- the Weave cracks-- someone get him up!" Astarion: "Not your blood, not now. Theirs!" Jaheira: "If I must fight on, then so must you." Halsin: "No earthen grave for you yet, druid." Minsc: "Will you die with skulls yet uncracked?" Romanced PC: "If you die, I will bleed the world dry!"
12. Encountering a locked chest/door
Answered here.
17. Looking in a mirror
"I knew that face, once."
"Where did the scar come from?"
"Sometimes it looks out of my eyes..."
28. Party banter with Karlach
(Act 1) Rakha: "You fight with rage. Blind violence." Karlach: "Yeah, well, I've got plenty to be angry about. And, well, sometimes it just feels good to really let loose, you know?" Rakha: "Yes. When I think of spilling blood, it is when I feel most alive." Karlach: "You know, somehow it's way creepier when you say it."
(Act 2 - after whatever happens to cause THE reveal) Karlach: "You know, I was jealous of you for a while. Would've been nice to be able to forget everything that happened to me in Avernus." Rakha: "And now?" Karlach: "Now... I don't know. I hope you're doing okay. You've had a lot dropped on you." Rakha: "I have. And I am not doing okay. But... thank you for asking."
(Act 3 - after Gortash's death) Rakha: "It was good to see Gortash die." Karlach: "Really fed the ol' beast, did it? Tried to really splatter him up, just for you." Rakha: "That isn't what I mean. [pause] He was cruel. You did not deserve it. So I am glad he is dead." Karlach: [slightly startled] "Oh. I mean-- yeah. Thanks. Me too. [pause] Obviously."
33. Party banter with Minthara
Once again, passing this until I know Minthara better. XD
35. How would your Tav/Durge greet a player character if they were a companion at low, neutral, high, or romanced approval?
Also answered here and recopied. :D
“…” (negative approval)
“What?” (negative approval)
“Go on, then.” (low approval)
“Who needs killing?” (medium approval)
“I have more questions. But you may speak first.” (medium approval)
“My blade is ready. Speak your need.” (high approval)
“Something troubles you?” (high approval)
“I wish I could show you what I see. How the Weave dances around you.” (romanced)
“It calms when you are close… I thank you…” (romanced)
“Please… come back later. The blood is… distracting.” (random, when spoken to while bloodstained from battle; conversation cuts off immediately)
39. If romanceable, what lines would they say if a player character prompted them with, "Can I kiss you?"
"Yes."
"I would like that."
(random) "I don't... want to be touched right now. Later. Please..."
2, 14, 28, 58 off the weirdly specific qs meme for Ophelia!
How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?
She uses the word with a fair degree of discernment. Typically it's reserved for people she wants to/likes to spend time with. Like, despite the stuff she goes through with Shadowheart, she doesn't come to regard her as a friend until near the end of their journey because she doesn't enjoy their conversations. She may use it more loosely if it's to diffuse a tense situation ("We're all friends here") but is just as likely to use "ally" or some word that doesn't indicate emotional intimacy.
How do they put out a candle?
With her fingers or her breath. No amount of readily available candle snuffers will ever be easier than huffing and puffing.
What do they tell people they want? What do they actually want?
Assuming it's mid-game, she'd tell people she wants the tadpole gone. This is definitely true, but she also wants her suffering to have purpose. For her to have been set on this course for some reason, and not bad luck. It's why she latches on to the idea of undoing the curse in act 2, and why she takes the death of the Tiefling refugees to the shadow curse poorly. She wants to think she was set on this path to help them, and restore the balance of nature.
How many hobbies have they attempted to have over their lifetime? Is there a common theme?
Ophelia likes to knit and play the lyre, but she's tried plenty of other hobbies over the years. I think the main theme is that someone/something she loves/admired has encouraged her. Her father loves music, and at her druid circle she tended to a flock of sheep. Making clothes with their wool felt like honouring the time they spent together. She will never be as avid a reader as Gale, but he encourages her to read and reads aloud for her when she can't make her eyes focus.
In one of the last asks, you said that you believe Gale would want to make an impression when he returns to Waterdeep and I so agree with you. How do you think returning with Glim plays into this? How do you see Glim's status as The Great Glimmergris and his wife playing into his own hubris?
Man this is SUCH a fun and good question and I've spoken so little in or out of fic about The Great Glimmergris as a title and status! Thank you anon this is yummy.
So there's a couple of layers to this. The first is obviously he's delighted to be coming back with his wife to be, they're very much in love, all of this stuff.
As far as The Great Glimmergris goes as a title, it's a name that appears on a lot of printed songbooks, and it's a name that is carried around by bards with some respect and reverence, but as for who that person is at the time of the game? Very few people really know. Glim pulls it out of the bag when she meets the gang because the first person she meets is Shadowheart and the second is Gale - it's the absolute distillation of that meme "oh, we're using our made up names?" They're holding themselves at high status, and she quickly makes the calculation that if she is going to travel with these people and have a stake in the leadership, that she needs to pull out the big guns. Gale knows a few of her bigger songs and is delighted to meet her! She uses the name where useful in their adventures.
Otherwise, she's relatively discreet. She wants her music to live through the ages, but she has a number of aliases for her work as an adventurer. Fiddlesticks, The Glimmergad, Gemkind, plenty of names for plenty of reasons over her forty years as an adventurer.
So when he comes back with the Great Glimmergris, whose songs are played from The Yawning Portal to High Court, and she's a Deep Gnome? It's quite the moment. I feel like it would be akin to Elena Ferrante being revealed - a HUGE deal to a few very passionate people. And he gets her into parties, through mutual invites, and she absolutely kills, because she's great fun at parties. Then she starts to be the one being listed first on the invites. Then there are invites just for her. I think it really knocks his plans to be a wizard of limited renown - he's jealous, and misses the cultural cache of being a Chosen of Mystra. Plus Glim is spending all of her time partying and not of a lot of it doing the things that they love to do together. It leads him into hanging out with Halaster more, which again, is a terrible, terrible plan. It takes intervention from Elminster to fix it, which is, slightly, intervention from Mystra. A little bit of a warning shot. Gale gets given a mission for the city, and Glim eventually gets a job to occupy her for a bit.
- Full name: Paloma Silkflower - Gender: Female - Sexuality: Pansexual - Pronouns: She/Her
O T H E R
- Family: -> Father: Unknown. She has no idea who her father. -> Mother: Veera. She was a drow cleric from Buiyrandyn. She fled for the surface after Paloma was born, but not much is known about her. She died when Paloma was two from the plague. -> Adopted Younger Sister: Lamia Ambler. She's a changeling rogue who grew up in the same orphanage as Paloma. Paloma took on the role of older sister to her and they're still close. Paloma doesn't approve of Lamia's thieving lifestyle, but she loves her nonetheless. Lamia is the weird aunt to her kids. -> Children: Orianna, Lucan, and Meriele. Orianna is the eldest at 12. She's awkward and creative. She's already acting a lot like her mother in terms of taking her big sister status seriously. Lucan is the middle child at 10. He has a big heart, but like every other 10-year-old on the planet, he's absolutely unhinged. He's a pretty sensitive kid who would be eaten alive in traditional drow society. Meriele is the youngest at 9. Meriele is deaf and communicates through sign language. She's often underestimated and uses it to her advantage. She loves animals and will probably grow up to be a druid just to be with them all day. They're certainly better than most people. -> Ex-Lover: Belgos was a drow ranger who fathered Paloma's children. She doesn't talk about him much these days. He wanted to be a dad until one day he didn't, leaving her alone with the kids. He most likely returned to the Underdark. -Birthplace: She was born in the Underdark, but she doesn't know where. She was actually from Buiyrandyn, a Drow settlement that was known for rejecting Lolth. It was destroyed by mind flayers. - Job: Monk - Phobias: It's not officially a phobia, but she's terrified of anything bad hurting her family, and she's scared of being a bad mom. She's terrified of not being needed. Her actual phobia would be claustrophobia. - Guilty pleasures: She considers staying home to read while curled up with snacks to be a guilty pleasure. For her, just taking a day off makes her feel guilty. She would consider afternoon naps to be a guilty pleasure, too. - Hobbies: Spending time with her children, meditating, martial arts training, being out in nature, nature walks, adventuring, and reading.
R E L A T I O N S H I P S
- OTP: In game, I have her romancing Astarion and Halsin. - Acceptable Ships: Shadowheart/Paloma. Gale/Paloma. And I'm always open to people shipping their OC/Tav with her. - OT3: In game, Astarion/Paloma/Halsin. Outside of that, I'm open to whatever makes sense for her. - Brotp: -> Shadowheart — She respects Shadowheart's need for privacy which brings them closer together. Shadowheart trusts her simply because she doesn't pry. -> Jaheira — She doesn't see eye to eye with Jaheira on how she raises her kids, exactly, but they get each other. They can talk to each other about things almost no one else in the group can. She also appreciates Jaheira's sense of humor. - Notp: I can't think of one. I usually just steer clear of the more problematic ships, personally. Maybe Minthara/Paloma?
