I miss when shows had stupid goofy shit in them that you were supposed to take seriously. I miss robins "holy ____ on a ____, batman!" I miss spiderman crawling around like an insectoid, I miss weird shit that doesn't make sense like "a meteor crashed down on Earth and awoke mummified lion people that lived in caves for thousands of years", I miss when in scooby doo they'd eat fog or dracula hosted races every year, i miss "Columbo has a skateboarding descendant Boronco" or "Napoleon's descendant runs a terrorist organization that wants to take over the world bc its noisy and he wants to sleep". I love batshit plots with weird circumstances that make no sense but they're fun and entertaining-- give me shit that comes out of nowhere and baffles me but is still fun. I miss that kind of stuff man :/

At the first long rest we took, I like the idea that Shadowheart is laying there like 'my unlikely compatriot is rather brave and clever. He got us out of fight with just his words and, despite his cold, aloof demeanor, was shockingly agreeable to making finding someone to get the parasite out of our heads priority number one. Perhaps I can trust him after all...'
All while Ronan, serial abuser of Thaumaturgy, Blade Ward, and Guidance, is wondering if Bahamut is going to give him a good grade in Cleric today.

I gotta say one more thing about this playlist and then i swear im done. But tumblr made it sound like mostly Classic Rock so i went into this expecting more Greatest Hits Of Mullet Rock and instead found music from my high school/early twenties years. And then it dawned on me. No longer is my dad's longhair/grunge era considered CLASSIC rock. No. MY MUSIC era is 'classic' now.
Im not really sure what to do with this revelation. Except to add that i also recognized a lot of the newer music on the playlist. And i remember being like 11 and thinking my dad was one of the 'cool' dads because he was in his 30's and listening to n*rvana. So maybe im at least one of the 'cool' 30's. LOL

when you and levi decide to move together, do you move to his place, him to your place, or find a new apartment all together? just thinking about how levi would feel giddy inside when you and him finally have a place to call home and do domestic activities all the time :,))
Okay okay actually, I’ve thought about this before quite a bit, and generally, I think while you’re dating, Levi has a thing for you going to his place. Of course, he always picks you up; it’s not out of laziness that he prefers you to come to his place, or because he wants you to rely on him for everything, it’s just… he likes his place better with you there :(( he likes his bed better with you in it, likes coming home and seeing that you’re already there and making food in his kitchen, likes knowing that you take up space in his life and you bring him so much peace that your company is so beyond precious to him. Eventually, he’d like for you two to move out into a new place that you can start over on together, but for now, he doesn’t mind making room for you wherever you are

Do you think what Taylor said about women in their 30s in Ms Americana is kind of not true? Like I understand why she’d believe that, but now that she’s seen it didn’t apply to her at all, and there’s a number of female pop stars still killing it in their 30s/40s that we’ve perhaps moved on from that ageism? Now if only more artists could debut in their 30s/40s/any age, that would really banish ageism. And we’d see far less teen artists being exploited too.
No, I think it is still very true. In general, we as a society have a whole industry based around looking younger and hiding “imperfections” that’s targeted directly at women. A lot of female artists are where they are in their careers because of what they accomplished when they were younger, but aren’t where they were when they first started. Examples off the top of my head are JLO, Mariah, Christina and Madonna, and they are considered legends or icons, but there’s not much focus on their current work. I think it’s harder for a non-established middle-aged artist to break through in the industry, compared to a younger artist. Most of the reporting I see from the media is on newer artists that are younger. Age really shouldn’t be a factor in whether or not someone gets media coverage, it should only matter if they’re talented.
With social media and stan culture, I feel like the ageism and gender stuff has taken on a different form where women are pigeonholed into what they start out as. I’ve noticed that when artists try new pursuits outside of music, fans get really annoyed about it and are constantly asking them to return to making music. Another thing I’ve seen is people wondering if a female artist is going to retire to start/be with their family and the artist is usually like in their 30s because for some reason people feel like that is super “old.” People are speculating that Beyoncé is going to retire after she releases the last part of the Renaissance trilogy and she’s only 40, I haven’t seen anyone ask the same about her husband and he’s 52. Both have had extremely successful careers, but people are wondering about retirement for only one of them. It seems like people can’t imagine female artists balancing a career and a personal life, or balancing multiple ventures and I think that speaks to what Taylor was saying in the documentary about women having to change themselves, but making sure it’s somewhat familiar and doesn’t make the public uncomfortable.

“Helen!” Helen tries to hold back the smile, but Rob is already grinning at her, his beer in hand. “Let me get you a drink! Wine, yeah?”
She rolls her eyes through a laugh, but answers, “White, thanks.”
“You got it,” Rob says with a finger point. “What about you Daz? You on the wine or beers tonight, mate?”
Dale, looking horrified at the nickname, still smiles politely as he says, “Beer, thanks Rob.”
Rob clicks his tongue, grin never fading. “Back in a moment, guys.”
ive actually already changed this first draft bc i decided that keeping dale in the fic just so i could write rob calling him daz isn't a good enough reason to include him, but the point of this post stands that there really is something about writing rob that is just SO fun. i can see all his funny little expressions in my mind's eye. he's the loveliest. my best friend. my no. 1 guy.
