pointless raving nostalgia about mmorpg’s ahead (or well.. one mmorpg.)

omfg....................... i was just thinkin about maplestory and shit and redownloading it again cuz i was feelin nostalgic or whatever. when out of the corner of my eye on the nexon website i see mabinogi.... and just get. bLASTED with nostalgia.... like. fuck dude. i can’t believe how much shit i forgot i did in mabinogi. like, i’ve thought of it before but for some reason all i thought about was those weekly exp gala thingies they have? (which i can’t find ANTYTHING ABOUT ONLINE BUT I SWEAR THEY HAPPENED) and also fishing to pass the time before said gala. (idk why my brain focused on only these two things) but then like. looking at the big titty goddess lady on the nexon website all my good ass times there just came rushing back to me..... like... fuck!!!! like!!! fuck!!!!

i remember the very first time i ever played it when i was like... 10 or 11. somebody had hacked it and slaughtered all the npc’s. like.... every single one of them, so i had no clue what i was supposed to be doing. but like. this kind group of players in the middle of the town square explained the situation to me and gave me robes and an ice wand. and i got to hang out with them around there campfire thru the night and chatted with them. it was rlly sweet! im pretty sure they let me join there guild too. it was rlly cool and a rlly fun introduction to the game tbh..

and i also remember when i first discovered there were like?? multiple different continents?? ( i mean, i think there were only 2 but 1 of them was rlly big) and the one that wasn’t the starting one was fucking GINORMOUS. so i made it my goal to cross the fucking desert and get to the elf city on the other side! and it was fucking awesome!! it was like a whole journey and i was running solo! me + 1 horse im pretty sure? and u can pic ur age for ur character in mabinogi so mine was like. a small short child. so it was such a nice feel of adventure traversing the scary ass desert! like that shit was treacherous. there were underground points i had to travel thru sometimes and monsters/animals to fight and i think at one point i had to ride a boat across a river. it was just rlly cool!! and i was so happy when i reached the elf city! and i found out that when u reach a different races settlement you can make a character of that race and start in the settlement u found! which was awesome! so u bet ur ass i made a fuckin elf after that.

anyway there isn’t rlly any point to this text post. i just wanted to rave about mabinogi cuz it just came into my mind.

#pepper words #i also remember how fucking annoying rainbow flashy dyes were #if u dyed ur clothes to flash? multiple colors?? we could not be friends #u were too tacky #and i won't apologize for that its just the truth #goddddd and now im remembering the trade marketplace where everybody would set up little tents and roll out displays and sale there stuff.. #there was a whole bunch of em in one specific town. goshhh #maybe i should be downloading mabinogi instead of maplestory tbh #idk there both nostalgic to me mabinogi is just. a lot more personal of a game with how its played #having a wild strange time is just the nature of it #or just. relaxing and fishing #whatever u wanna do #maplestorys a lot more linear #in comparison at least #u can play mabinogi however u god damn please and still get fun out of it #but with maplestory theres like.. a clear progression and path ur supposed to follow #anyway thanks for tuning in to 'nostlagia and mmorpgs with pepperpixel' see u next week
