everyone says they want to be an ally to disabled people and be inclusive until they can’t hold events the way they want to. like thanks for the invite but if the space isn’t accessible and if it isn’t outside and/or masks aren’t required then i can’t even consider going

#a friend was talking about prom and i haven’t gone to a dance since middle school #because every time they weren’t covid safe and often inaccessible #there was a big trip yesterday to go whitewater rafting and i couldn’t go not only because of my biopsies which have yet to fully heal but #also because once again it isn’t accessible #i mean i don’t even eat lunch with other people because it’s inaccessible #a lot of it is also because of covid and because people don’t want accessible outdoor events or mask mandates #honestly I’ll refuse an invite half the time if an event doesn’t have both of those things #it is not safe for me to risk my health that way because someone wants to pretend things are ‘normal’ #nor would it be healthy to risk the stress that comes with other people being irresponsible and naive #but also half the times things just. aren’t accessible. like right off the bat i can’t go unless i want to risk a lot of pain and discomfort #which means i won’t really be able to enjoy myself #my post #the monstrosities attached to my legs #cripple punk #disability #you can rb this idc
