Funded by coal magnate Meyrick Holme, a reward of £500 was offered for proof of its existence, and £1000 was offered for the capture and delivery of the creature to the Royal Society. Two teams of monster hunters at the forefront of British Unnatural interests took up the gauntlet, and the hunt was to become a race against time and each other. 7. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

as is perhaps evidenced by my drunkenly reblogging this ask meme last night... i am aware that i completely crave validation a million percent... i guess that is an unfortunate part of my personality. it is perhaps why i have written so much fanfiction over the past seven years... thinking about going through the process of trying to publish a novel seems so emotionally exhausting to me because it strikes me that there really is no feedback built into that process except "how can we make this more saleable?" and then getting constantly roasted on twitter...

another funny thing is that i definitely am prone to bandwagoning myself onto some juggernaut fandom and churning out under 5k words of pornography in an afternoon and posting it and getting tons of comments and kudos and it is not actually that fulfilling... but i do it anyway for some reason... and then i write something that i actually think is good and care deeply about... like "saint rose and the thorns" - and all thirty something comments on that story are like the reason why i breathe...

14. Do you compare yourself to other writers? In a positive or negative way?

it's so funny because i feel like lately i often read published novels where i'm like "wow this prose is shit and this plot is so convoluted i could absolutely do better" and then i read a fanfic like "im/memorial" by themainthings and i feel like a pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas

Danced away the heartache at the fantastic #BryanFerry show at the fabulous #FoxTheatre in #Detroit last night. Loved the expressionist set design too. The show was great, got to meet my teenage crush after the show and shoe gaze as I told him how I have been a fan since I figured out how to operate my oldest brother’s hi-fi 🙂 Also great to see the legendary Chris Spedding on guitar and @jorjachalmers on sax. I saw #RoxyMusic’s #Avalon tour in the 80s so I have now come full circle. Getting to meet Bryan just added more sweetness to the evening. Are you keeping the main thing, the main thing? #priorities, #focus, #goodistheenemyofgreat Hello Eagles. How is everybody doing? It's Mother Eagle here. I hope you're doing well. It's … what's today? It's Tuesday. As you've seen the title, right? Keeping the main thing the main thing. I was reminded of this yesterday when I caught myself the whole day. I was working on something that I know I shouldn't be working on, though I enjoyed it. And I was wondering, are my priorities not right? It was a good thing, but in order to get to the next level, you have to be able to prioritize, to stick to what you know you have to be doing next, versus what you already know how to do. So my priority this week was to work on something totally different, but because I enjoy what I was working on yesterday, though it has no place anymore, I kept working on it. It reminded me of the quotes that goes “Good is an enemy of great.” because most of us are working on things that appear to be good maybe. You can be a giver and a nourisher. (Welcome, thank you for joining!) You can be a giver and a nourisher, giving all your time to things, though they are good, they are not aligned with the goals and where you're trying to go, which causes a real big hindrance. The action point for this week is to look at what you're doing. Are your priorities right? Are you keeping the main thing the main thing? Do you know what your main thing is? That one thing you have to be working on to help you propel to the next level. Are you willing to let go of some of the things? Though they used to be good, they have no place anymore in order to go to the next level. You may have to let go of the good enough and do the things for the next level that will put you on your path to greatness. (Hi, welcome.) So it's just something as an eye opener I guess, to be aware that sometimes we can get stuck in something that's good enough, yet we can do better.
