★ What have been your favorite fantasy reads of the year, so far? Y’all, I need to tell you about these books again, because @sarahmcradit really delivers and I am still thinking about The Kingless Crown, weeks after finishing it! This is a dark, epic fantasy and it totally sunk its claws into me. I highly recommend for fans of Game of Thrones, this is easily the closest thing I’ve ever read to it, and despite this book being nice and chonky, I totally devoured it – even reading the ebook! The best part is that the trilogy is complete, so you can binge the heck out of it! I’ll leave the description in the comments and link in my bio, but at the heart of this story is youth enduring the faults and choices of their elders. I love that there is a little bit of everything in it, too. There is the vile, heartless tyrant, there is friendship and family, there is immense suffering and grief, there is sweet first love and decades old love, there is magic and heroism, there are various factions with their own goals, family feuds that span generations, and there are some really incredible secrets and mysteries for you to uncover as you read. There is some content in this book that could be triggering, so feel free to DM me for content warnings or read my review on Goodreads, but nonetheless, I totally recommend giving it a shot if you’re an adult fantasy fan. ★ What are you currently reading? What do you think so far? One of the books I am currently reading is The Kingless Crown by @sarahmcradit, and I am lowkey obsessed! I am currently reading it for a review tour with @bookofmatchesmedia and received this gorgeous hardcover from Sarah yesterday. The Kingless Crown is the first book in the Kingdom of the White Sea series, an epic high fantasy that is teaming with betrayal and secrets, and simmering with the beginnings of rebellion. Seriously, these characters are making me SWEAT! 😅 Every time something happens I am like oh oh OH 🙊 I am about halfway through, and have definitely been getting some Game of Thrones vibes, as far as scope and themes go, but I’d also recommend it for fans of adult fantasy in the vein of Brandon Sanderson, Jenn Lyons, and Sarah J Maas. The first two books in the series, The Kingless Crown and The Broken Realm, are available now, with the third book, The Hidden Kingdom, releasing on July 27th!
