Having the right person in place to manage your Corporate Event is so important in staging a successful event, this person is key in delivering the Corporate Event Objectives and there are many attributes, skills and qualities that this person should have in order to run things well.
• Experience of Event Management
Having Event Management Experience is always helpful but it’s not overly essential, it is taken for granted that this may be impacted depending upon the size of the Corporate Event and the type of event that is being put together and who the audience are.
The different types of Event Audiences can be attributed to the different types of Corporate Events including Business to Business, Business to Employees and Business to Consumers. Each of these types of events may require a different approach and may all be of varying sizes with different levels of attendees.

• Organisational Skills

Organisation of an event would involve managing several strands of areas of the event in an orderly fashion using skills to work effectively and efficiently.

• Willing to Accept Ownership and Responsibility
The Corporate Event Organiser needs to own the Event Project from the outset and be willing to take ownership of this and all the things that go into it. They must accept the good and the bad as well as the challenges that they will face.
Along with accepting Ownership comes taking responsibility for the Event and the decision making that is made along the way, this should not be taken lightly and great seriousness needs to be shown with this role.
• Be A Leader
For any project that is undertaken it is essential to have a strong Leader and the Event Organiser should be no different.
Being a leader is not only about being able to show others the way and lead from the front with confidence it also includes the ability to positively influence others and provide a healthy working environment, to lead with success you must be a great communicator and set an example to others who rely on you for guidance.
• Confidence and Self Belief
The individual needs to be Confident and believe in their own abilities to be able to not only put together the Event but ensure it is a success.
It is also important that the Corporate Event Organiser is happy enough to admit their own negative points and limitations and seek out help for these areas of weakness without letting that impact on their confidence in being successful in their role.
• Interest and Passion
It goes without saying the Corporate Event Organiser should show a great deal of interest in the event itself and harbour a huge amount of passion for the message the event is trying to achieve, having passion makes you believe in something, work hard and never stop.
• Management Skills
Along with Organisational Skills the Corporate Event Organiser must also possess Management Skills both of tasks and people.
They would need to be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time as well as managing their Event Team and their delegated tasks.
• Common Sense
A common sense attitude is a given for an Corporate Event Organiser, this individual will have to make decisions throughout when issues occur and will have to rely upon common sense or reason in many cases where they cannot just look up the answer!
• Strong Interpersonal Skills
The Corporate Event Organiser will come into contact with a large number of people along the way and in order to deal with these individuals they will need to possess a number of interpersonal skills such as communication and interacting well with others.
Being a bad communicator and a person with a dislike for others just will not do for an kind of Corporate Event.
• Problem Solving
When organising and running an Event problems and issues will always arise, dealing with these needs to be done with a methodical and structured approach, it takes a certain type of skill to analyse and solve problems as they occur whilst maintaining patience and focus on the end goal.
• Prioritisation of Tasks
A huge number of tasks will be progressing at any one time and to carry these out effectively these often need to prioritised into the degree of urgency they need. A Corporate Event Organiser needs to be able to do this with ease and change this prioritisation quickly when needed.

There are some cases where the Event being staged is within a Specific Industry such as a Music Festival or Sporting Event and in these situations it would advantageous for the Corporate Event Organiser to have Specific Industry experience to help the event run smoothly, this would particularly be the important where for example certain procedures needs to be followed or legalities followed.

Putting together an Event will require a Budget and being able to understand how to look after Financial Information and run budgets as well as considering cost savings and cost implications will serve the Corporate Event Organiser well and having this skill will be an asset to have.

1. 80s Themed Food and Drink
We've got that one covered for you at The Hungry Plaice take your guests back in time with our Old Fashioned Vintage Fish and Chip Vans, we have Betty and Beryl in our fleet and we serve Hand Battered Traditional Fish And Chips, sadly without the newspaper as Food Safety stopped all that! Our van Betty was a working van on a Chip round back in the 80s and is thought to be the only one still in service all these years later so you'll be guaranteed to have something really special at your event. If you wanted to put together your own food there are some other ideas you could try... How about Chicken and Chips served from Baskets, a bit like the ones you can sometimes get in Bowling Alleys, you might be able to pick up some baskets on Ebay and then you can always sell them again once you are done. For a Cheesy Party you'll need an abundance of cheesy food and cheese balls always go down a storm, you could even consider the good old pineapple and cheese on sticks! There are lots of snacks you could have for a buffet including Twiglets, Bacon Rashers Crisps and Pickled Onion Monster Munch, there's Peanuts, Wotsits and Space Raiders. You could even make some cakes or cookies with a Retro 80s theme, there are some great cookie trays shaped like Pac-Man you can find on Ebay. Your drinks selection could include old fashioned style retro glass bottles of soft drinks like Cloudy Lemonade, Shandy or Ginger Beer and you could have a few bottles of Babychams and Blue Nuns kicking about! If you are lucky enough to have or know someone with one of those old Teasmade's machine maybe you could have that hooked up on a table so people can have a cup of tea when they're bored of downing the jelly shots!
2. Your 80s Theme
The theme of your party is the 80s but you could go for something more specific in the decade to make things more interesting. How about having a TV/Movie themed 80s Party? You could ask your guests to dress up as 80s movie characters and have your decor to match, maybe you particularly like a certain TV programme or theme like The A Team, Knightrider, Top Gun or Dirty Dancing and everything is themed along those lines or maybe have a mix up of two. Your theme could be 80s Gaming, your guests could be asked to dress up as 80s gaming characters like Pac-man, Super Mario, King Kong or Paperboy, maybe they could come dressed as a Nintendo Gameboy. Have you considered a Roller Disco theme? Everyone could bring along some Roller Skates with Huge Socks and you can have a 80s themed disco, it would be great fun to see how many times people would be falling over after a few drinks! A simple 80s theme could be just made up of colours it would be easy to use neons or bright yellows, pinks and blues, everything could be aligned to the colour scheme to ensure it all matches. You could extend your theme to any invites you send out to show your guests what to expect at the party the list really is endless.
3. 80s Fancy Dress
This is such an easy one as there is so much to choose from! If your 80s Party theme is general 80s with a Fancy Dress Code, there are loads and loads of options for clothes to wear, you really want to try to stay away from buying new at any shops and get your guests to scour Charity Shops, Ebay and Facebook, you might want to get a pile of clothes yourself to put in a box for your guests to pick and choose what they want when they arrive just be careful you wash any of those second hand clothes to keep everyone happy! There are leggings, hairbands, tracksuits velour and shell, sports jackets, ballet skirts, t-shirts with acid smiley faces, big Earrings, Jewellery, Trainers and Hairbows to name just a few things a quick search on Google will point you in the right direction! Remember to go cheap to save yourself money and then you can always sell the clothes on when you're done!
4. 80s Music For Your 80s Themed Party
I am sure we don't need to go into the various types of 80s music there is out there... If you've got loads of money to splash out on the music at your 80s themed party the obvious answer is to get a DJ in, tell them about your 80s them and insist that they play nothing else. If you wanted a really good 80s music theme there are other ways to set your music up. You could go cheap get one of your bluetooth speakers get your playlist on your phone or laptop link it all up and off you go....or how about something far more genuine 80s..... Get hold of an old Hi-fi system with a Tape Deck and find some of those big freestanding speakers and put the 80s Now Collection on loop! It might not give out the best sound quality but it could be more in line with the look of your party! You could hire one of those dancefloors with the clear box flooring which light up with different colours, perhaps you will want to add a bit of cardboard on the floor for anyone who wants to attempt a bit of breakdancing...
5. Decorations
Decorations will be key to creating your 80s themed party. There are 80s themed partywares with the normal tableware, balloons and hanging items with 80s emblazoned across and with all the 80s colours being sold online but you could go a little bit more authentic, how about looking around for 80s themed items that you could scatter about to give your party a unique 80s feel. If you've chosen a specific 80s TV or film theme, it's easy to find things you could use to decorate with that in mind I'm sure there are lots of items you could pick up to do with flying and planes for your Top Gun theme. You might want to head down to a local carboot to find an old 80s side table to put up somewhere in the room you could use it for your buffet table or fill it with some 80s goodies or food. Find an old Boombox, old gaming systems, black and white TVs, walkmans, Rubix cubes, Computers or one of the old dial telephones you could put on the side somewhere it doesn't matter if they are not working as they are only for show and if they don't work or turn on they will be much cheaper to buy. See if you have any old metal signs of 80s Brands that you could put up and cover the walls with posters from 80s Films and TV there are websites where you can add photos and print them off with A4 paper and turn into huge sized posters. Tap into the selfie craze and dot some Polaroid Cameras around the room, you could hire a more vintage Photobooth which produces the old style photos with the white edging and get a box of 80s themed clothes and items for your guests to put on, pose and take photos with.

The responsibility of managing the budget will sit with the Organiser to ensure they are keeping in line with the expectations they have been given to work to.
The Importance of Managing Your Corporate Budget
No matter the scale of the Corporate Event there will always be a Financial Budget given for this which will be reflective of the size, number of attendees, the nature of the event and the spending power of the Event Sponsor.
Rarely will the budget be a bottomless pit or an undefined figure so the responsibility of managing the budget will sit with the Organiser to ensure they are keeping in line with the expectations they have been given to work to.
Should the Corporate Event have a large team behind it there may even be a dedicated team member who manages the Finances and the budget rather than the Event Organiser.
Within the budget will be a range of items that will need paying for, some of these may not be relevant to some Corporate Event depending upon the type being put together and some of these will be common items found at most Events and should be built into the budget.

An internal business event may be held on company premises with no need for expense on booking a venue, this would need to be fit for the Corporate Event purpose with sufficient space and equipment available.
Where the Corporate Event is a larger affair there will be a need to source a suitable venue. Corporate Events can be held in a variety of places, if this is an exhibition a venue with a large space for exhibitors would be needed or if there is a Business Conference being put together facilities would be required for this.
These days however Corporate Events are more exciting with Venues normally associated with Weddings and parties being used by Companies to host their Events. This includes using dry hire sites with Marquees, Activity Centres, Outdoor Showgrounds and Glamping Sites.
The cost of the business venue will vary with the type of location chosen, whilst a Village Hall can be hired for a small charge taking over a Hotel for a number of days will cost much more.
• Personnel
Staff may have to be hired for the duration of the Corporate Event or these could be business employees who have been taken on the Event Project Team.
Personnel should include Admin staff to deal with management of booking in attendees on arrival, ushers to show people around the site and stewards to manage the footfall and movement of transport.
Whilst the Event Organiser may have the overall responsibility of the Event and carry out a range of roles there may be specific areas that need a dedicated person such as a Health and Safety Manager and those within an Operations team.
Where this specialism cannot be found in house there is the opportunity to engage with a Consultant for the duration of the Corporate Event.
• Food and Drink
The Food and Drink at a Corporate Event is one of the most important elements, the number of servings should be in line with the amount of hours guests will be on site and something will be expected to be available for every break there is throughout the day.
It might be that the budget allows for self service snacks and drinks, a buffet or there may be an allowance for a fully catered meal and a drinks bar.
Each element should be researched to find the best fit for the day.
• Equipment and Lighting
At a small Corporate Event there will be little equipment required and it may be provided at a venue where Conferencing Facilities are available.
For Corporate Events on a larger scale there may be numerous equipment required some of which could be provided by the business or is this involves specialist equipment this can be provided by an outside Contractor.
Equipment may include Tables and Chairs, Presentation equipment such as Laptops and Projectors and other technology such as lighting, staging and sound.
• Power and Water
Where there will be a number of suppliers providing services for the Corporate Event particularly at a dry hire venue there would be consideration needed for any Power requirements and also the provision of Water facilities.
Again these can also be provided by external suppliers if required.
• Security
Whilst there will be ushers and stewards on site moving guests and transport around, a security team may be employed where there is are large numbers of attendees or equipment that needs to be managed and left overnight for example.
• Marketing of Event
The Budget for the Marketing of a Corporate Event should not be understated which needs to be reflective of event objectives.
For the internal Company Event little Marketing may be required and this may work out costing very little if you are targeting employees within the business. Where there is the General Public and Consumers involved a more scaled up approach to Marketing will be undertaken.
Of course there are ways of using Free Marketing such as using the power of Social Media and other outlets where you can make savings on your Marketing budget.
• Contingency
Any experienced Corporate Event Organiser would know that it is important to budget for a contingency plan to cover in the event of things going wrong, this might be a % of the overall figure or an exact determined amount.
Calculating the Contingency is not an exact science it is just like putting money aside should something occur that was not originally planned for.
• Budgeting and Forecasting
The Budget process for the Corporate Event should not merely be completed at the beginning and ending once all the suppliers are paid for, these should be constant review along the way identifying savings and changes wherever necessary.

Engagement Ring On My Wedding Day?
The Traditional View on Wedding Rings is that the fourth finger on your left hand is closest to your heart and so your Engagement Ring and your Wedding Ring should be worn on this finger.
This is an old tradition that dates right back to Ancient Greek times and seems to be something that has been adopted across the world.
The Engagement Ring will be worn continuously from the day you get engaged and you may have already decided that once you are married you no longer want to wear your Engagement Ring.
But what should happen on your Wedding day should you choose to want to still be wearing your Engagement Ring, should you continue wearing the Engagement Ring or should this finger be free for you to put on your Wedding Ring only?
Tradition says that once you are married a Wedding Band is worn and that the Wedding Band should be put onto the Wedding Ring finger first so this ring is closest to your heart and the Engagement Ring is then placed second to that.
Some people believe that your Wedding Finger should be free on the day of your Wedding so the Wedding Band can be put on during the exchange of rings moment, others will choose to move the Engagement Ring at the last moment just before the Rings are exchanged and then place this on after the Wedding Ring.
Think about your photos when signing the Register, do you want to have just your Wedding Ring on or both? You may have paid to have matching rings that sit nicely together that you’d like to be seen in your photos.
You could decide to wear your Engagement Ring on your Right Hand for your Wedding Day and then move it over once you have had your Wedding Band put on, just make sure that you check that it actually fits, it would be really unfortunate if at the last minute on the day of the Wedding you realised that your ring doesn’t fit on the other hand, there are horror stories of people forcing their rings on and then struggling to get them back off again, not stress you need on your special day!
So, what are the other options rather than wearing your ring on your other hand on your special day? Well, you could ask for someone to look after your ring for you during the ceremony or you could even put this on a necklace or in your bouquet if you wanted, loads of couples now involve their pets on their Wedding Days so you could put your rings on a collar that your pet is wearing if you can be sure it won’t get ruined of course!
How about after your Wedding Day, how do people choose to wear their rings then?
Nowadays a lot more couples will choose matching ring sets so would choose to wear both their Wedding Ring and the Engagement Ring every day after they get married. There is even the option to buy Eternity rings in the future so three rings are worn at some point.
It might be that you prefer that your Wedding Band to be worn alone or you have chosen a cheaper priced Wedding Ring as you want to wear your Engagement Ring once married. Some famous people will do this think of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton she wears her Engagement Ring and no Wedding Band because this was an heirloom from Princess Diana.
Of course there are some celebrities that take this whole ring thing a lot further by having several Engagement Rings over the years and wearing more than one at the same time like Kim Kardashian.
There are no hard and fast rules and certainly no laws that govern all this, if it’s your Wedding Day you should choose whichever option suits you!

A Corporate Event is held at the expense of one or more Business for a common purpose or objective.
Different Types of Corporate Events are organised to fulfil Event Objectives  and can take many forms.

What Is A Corporate Event?
A Corporate Event is an event held which is funded by a Business or Businesses this may take several forms and be put on for a variety of reasons.
These events are big business in the Corporate world and help to keep Companies competitive within their industries both in terms of the marketplace and the retention of staff. Some Companies will hold budgets for periodic events and have an internal team who undertake the planning and execution of these, where there are large scale events Companies will look for external Event Planners to take this role on.
A Corporate Event will have a set of objectives and it is the job of the team to meet these objectives on the delivery of the event, the objectives of the event will also determine the type of event that will be organised.
Once the objective is determined this will lead to the type of Corporate Event that is put together, of course some of these events could be a mixture of more than one type if this is on a large scale taking place over a period of days for example.
Company Meeting
A Company Meeting is normally held onsite between employees of a business or with other outside suppliers who may be providing a service.
These types of gatherings could be regular meetings to discuss a particular subject with a specific team such as a Daily or Weekly Meeting, A Monthly Roundup or an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to discuss Company Performance with Directors providing information and a presentation.
Team Building Day
Working well within a team at a workplace is essential and there are various ways a Business will try to bring teams together more closely, one effective method for this is Team Building which is bringing together these groups of people and helping them get to work together better through activities and role playing.
It is thought that Team Building can encourage proactive participation from individuals to engage together more cohesively and collectively in reaching a required goal.
Activities would include things like solving Puzzles, putting together Presentations, creating scenarios and indulging in Team Role Play all with the common purpose of encouraging people to get to know each other, build ideas and create a better sense of a team.

You Won't Need To Compromise On Your Food Choices
Guest Dietary Requirements could cause you to feel stressed when you have so many things to organise at your event but it really doesn't need to make you feel like that. With the rise in awareness in Personal Health more and more people are discovering they have Food Allergies, some people are choosing to follow particular diets to improve their health and others follow diets according to their Religious Beliefs so it is important to be respectful of an individual and their Dietary Requirements. Reasons For Dietary Requirements There are reasons why people have Dietary Requirements, these may be where someone has a reaction to food such as;
Food Allergies - where someone would have a rapid and serious reaction to a type of food
Food Intolerance - a slower reaction to food but is not life threatening
Anaphylaxis - a severe and extreme allergic reaction
Some individuals may have a combination of more than one type of Food Allergy.
Common Dietary Requirements
Following are a list of common Dietary Requirements;
Nut/Peanut Allergy - extreme reactions to nuts or peanuts
Wheat Intolerance - a reaction to rye, barley or oats

Don't be afraid to ask your guests you could do this directly or just add it to your RSVP, it is better to find out before your event rather on the day itself and then disappoint someone, if a person has a serious allergy they may even choose to bring their own food but it is nice for you to make the effort and provide food for them f you can.
Every Food Handler is required by Law to have passed a Level 2 Food Safety Course and part of this course is about Food Allergies and so every Mobile Caterer will have procedures to deal with the most common Food Allergies, so if you are unsure speak to your Caterer and just ask for their help they should be able to accommodate your guests needs.

This year's Office Party Theme is the 1980s and you want to buy something Retro for your Secret Santa so what can you buy that won't break the bank? 1. 80s Retro Gaming As we know some Gaming Consoles were literally born in the 80s and will bring back some fond childhood memories, take a look on Ebay where you might find a bargain, some of the Game and Watch or Tomy handhelds can be found at low prices or you might be able to find a cheap Nintendo Gameboy with a game like Tetris! You can also buy Retro Compilation Gaming Consoles if you wanted to spend a bit more, these have huge libraries of old retro classics, check out Argos and Amazon, how about Mini Pacman or Frogger handhelds to bring on some nostalgia. 2. 80s Themed Items An easy choice you might argue but why not everyone buys themed or personalised items nowadays and they are relatively cheap. You could get a Keyring, Hat, Socks or literally anything else with "I Love the 80s" on or find items with a photo of a Favourite Pop Group or Gaming Character, they are always available in shops or on auction sites. 3. Retro Sweets Selection Box A box with lots of Good old 80s Sweets filled with Refreshers, Double Dip Lollies, Vimto Chews, Love Hearts, Drumsticks and Candy Necklaces. Amazon and Ebay have listings for packs but you could easily buy some of these from a sweet seller and make up your own box. 4. 80s Games How about looking for a Classic Board Game they had back in the 80s like Operation, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders or Guess Who, you could buy one of those 80s Edition Trivia Games, a Rubix cube or Simon Says game. 5. Retro Turntable, Hi-Fi or Walkman Records and tapes are coming back into fashion there are reasonably priced Retro Turntables and Hi-Fi systems being sold in shops again or you could find a Walkman on Ebay Find some old Records or an 80s "Now" album on Cassette or make up your own compilation on tape like we did back in the days. 6. Old Dial Style Telephone Find an old dial telephone in local shops, antique fairs or online, as well an used ones these are also being sold new 7. Collection of Old 80s Annuals Dandy, Beano and Judy were some favourites back then, there were widely distributed and you are sure to find some bargains at charity shops or on Ebay. 8. Casio Calculator Watch How about a Casio Calculator Watch to take you back in time, these were really cool and still look the part now!
