you know as someone who doesn't want kids but enjoys the hell out of families in fiction both found and otherwise, I gotta say the people who are vehemently against the idea of their Girlboss Fav having kids because it'll ruin their characters are usually right but they're also super annoying about it.

#yes! they often will be reduced to ONLY being mothers in the event they have children by both fans and writers and that IS super annoying #but ALSO a lot of y'all get really hateful about the very concept of children in the process of expressing that #and it is super uncomfortable to witness #you know kids are still people right? they are human people regardless of if you personally like them or not #their only traits are not being sticky or clingy or dirty #they are whole entire people with actual personalities and feelings and wants #Yes even babies #the very prevalent hatred for children that exists in the world is truly horrifying #and seeing it in fandom when talking about the possibility of female characters wanting kids or a family is not shocking to me #but it is disappointing #especially when I often agree that I don't think one of these characters would WANT to be a mother #but their reasoning for why usually boils down to kids are disgusting and annoying #usually said in much nastier ways
