Wash and Carolina being best friends is better than both the ship and the sibling headcanon btw. They're besties. Just really great friends who can't live without each other. They're platonic soul mates, always destined to meet in every universe, sometimes the relationship changes but they'll always be friends. Nobody ever expects them to be friends, they don't expect to be friends, but for some reason they enjoy spending time with each other SO much. There's an inherent comfort, a trust that is somehow always there but not unearned. They love each other and they'll always love each other
