the way the boys started as a sharp, darkly funny show criticizing the shiny plastic soullessness of modern marvel era superhero movies and our tendency to elevate celebrities to godlike status and has now turned into a multimedia franchise churning out spinoffs while the original show devolves into a one-dimensional gorefest where the main selling point in every single advertisement seems to be "it's so graphic we can't even tell you what it's about 🤪" leaving the actual story to run around in circles while plot threads are dropped left and right, no real meaningful narrative development is achieved, and it shrugs off every ounce of nuance it ever had is so like. deeply ironic.
