i really should make a whole list of narumitsu fic recs but before i do that, you absolutely have to read The Folly of Youth by ThePursuit on ao3. i read it today as fast as i could because i was simultaneously doing an assignment but good god, this work killed me. like full on first degree murder killed me. i'm dead. i dedicate all of my possessions to the the author.

it has everything: post-aa6 narumitsu with incredible characterization of phoenix and how the disbarment affected him, depth of ALL of the characters including the seemingly irrelevant ones, a case with pun names that's actually pretty deep and meaningful, 15k word chapters (how did they do that...), klapollo both being complete disasters and somehow managing better than the old men, some delicious angst and incredible, subtle, top-tier comedy. seriously, it's the dream.

now, the work is not finished, but before you say anything, that doesn't even matter. there are 5 completed chapters out of 8 and A LOT happens in those chapters. like, 76k words a lot. finishing the last chapter doesn't leave you unfulfilled: it leaves you thrilled, thoughtful, and with great respect for the author, who did their best to update the work for the past few years and has been writing chapter 6 just recently!

seriously, i have read a lot of narumitsu fics. it came to a point where i wrote one rather impulsively. this one? one of the best, if not the actual best work i have ever had the fortune of stumbling upon. go read it, if you haven't already, the author also does cool art! (i swear this is not a paid commercial or anything, i just really fucking liked this fic)

i will not be providing a description or any spoilers because i want everyone to scream the way i did at every plot twist.
