Book tag!

@wayfaringreader tagged me! To participate, I have to answer the 11 questions Victoria asked me and then write 11 of my own questions at the bottom which anyone who does this tag has to answer. Thanks for the tag! (This is good because someone else tagged me to do this a couple of weeks ago and I can’t remember who =O...)

1. Have you read any graphic novels?

Yes! I have read Persepolis (and the sequels) by Marjane Satrapi which is excellent and I recommend it. I also read Ode to Kirihito by Tezuka during a reading slump and read nearly all of it in a single sitting. However, I was uncomfortable with some of his depictions of sexual assault and do not think I’d recommend it for that reason.

2. What’s your favorite book that was mandatory reading for school?

Hmmm - I had to read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie for my university class on Adolescent Literature and loved it.

3. Do you think there are any movie/TV adaptations that are better than the books?

I think Roald Dahl’s books (James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) adapt really well to the big screen and I usually have liked the movies better than the books.

4. Are you doing any reading challenges/reading goals in 2017?

Nope! I don’t need more stress in my life =P But, for real, my only goal is to read the books I got for Christmas.

5. What’s a genre that you dislike for no legitimate reason?

I always have reasons! JK. I usually don’t read mysteries/thrillers.

6. Borrow books from the library or buy them at a bookstore?

Borrow! Because I have no extra money and will be moving a lot in the future due to SO’s job.

7. Books you think aren’t worth the hype they get on tumblr?

Most of the ones that are hyped I haven’t read!

8. Books you think deserve more hype on tumblr?

I think Absolutely True Diary and Persepolis, mentioned above, need more tumblr love.

9. Do you have any bookish merch?

Nope, not really =/

10. What book has been on your TBR the longest, and how long have you been meaning to read it?

Lord of the Rings. I really want to read them but I’m just so intimidated. They’ve been on my tbr for 12 years probably lol.

11. Are there any standalone books that you wish had sequels, or were part of a series?

There are some where I wish I could revisit characters, but I can’t think of them right now.
