Sure am!! Started transitioning in late 2016! Hello and happy TDOV! and thank you!!

Here's a picture I posted last year of just how very much that jacket in the post I reblogged today does not fit me any more. (Age 18 vs 28) I can't even get both shoulders into it, and that's after having chest material removed.

None of my older waistcoats fit either, because my posture straightened up a ridiculous amount, and my ribcage definitely got bigger. (Which gradually happened over more than a year, so to anyone reading this who's planning on top surgery - don't make any super elaborate heavily embroidered waistcoats until at least a year after, or it will probably get too narrow in front! I've donated nearly all my pre-2018 waistcoats and coats to a local theatre!)

I ought to mention being trans more often so more people can go "same hat!", and I should also try to remember to make sure my pin cushion is visible in my sewing videos sometimes.

Also! I think having a rounder face and wider hips makes me better suited to early 18th century looks.

And late 17th if I get around to sewing some stuff from then. And the 1820's-40's, the men in fashion plates around that time were VERY hourglass shaped. And probably other periods too, the modern ideal of broad shouldered square jawed dudebros looks rather strange in a lot of historical eras!

Happy TDOV! This year makes ten years since I realized I'm nonbinary and five since I started estrogen. I tried to write more but it was all talking in circles around these fundamental points: these were, respectively, the most important realization I ever had and the best decision I ever made. I've adored every part of the journey because I adore where it's brought me more than I could say.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility. I’ve thought a lot about what I would say today, and I still don’t really know. I could talk about how getting a gender affirming haircut in March 2020 slingshotted me into a whole new life. Or how having top surgery in July 2021 taught me to love myself for the first time. Or that since transitioning I have found a deep and meaningful love for all the people in my life, and I see them for who they are, and cherish that so dearly.

I could also talk about how anti-trans laws in America are targeting such a small and vulnerable population of people. And that my very existence is being threatened every single day.

But all I really want to say right now, in this moment, is choose love.

Please.

When faced with choices, please, please choose love. Choose kindness.

And if you have trans people in your life, please tell them you love them.

It's TDOV so I'm going to post the one good image of me I took today in the one large mirror in the house.

I don't have the exact date when I realised I'm trans but didn't let myself just be a girl in my head, it was all "I want to be a girl but I'm not one right now", January 17th of 2012 is when I let myself be a girl online, March 1st of 2018 is when I started HRT, September 10th of 2021 (so close!!!) was when I had my orchi.

I'm pretty sure my hormone dosage has been too low for too long, I think I got injectable E prescribed but I haven't grabbed it yet.
