IMPORTANT MISC HEADCANONS 1.

- ILLUSIONARY DOUBLES: Tanba ALWAYS has at least a dozen or so of his illusionary doubles active at any given time for the purposes of spying and misdirection, and when interacting with him, sometimes you might not actually be interacting with “him” at all-- its possible you’re speaking to one of his doubles, or rather speaking to him through one of his doubles. Most people or servants wouldn’t be able to pick up that the “Tanba” in their presence is actually a double, either, unless they successfully struck it in a vital area like the brain or heart (which would dispel the illusion), or possessed some kind of special skill or noble phantasm that allowed them to somehow snuff illusions out-- and even then it wouldn’t be easy, since Tanba’s illusions are practically foolproof. Tanba might not be a Medea or a Merlin, but his spellcasting is very, very efficient, and his illusionary doubles are so convincing that one’s senses can be tricked into thinking they are fully corporeal in every sense.

- TANBA, CATS, AND MORE: Tanba isn’t a huge fan of cats-- he doesn’t hate felines, but given their tendency to hunt birds (and Tanba’s love of birds as a whole) he just doesn’t like them. Seeing as someone once tried to murder Tanba with a sack of weasels, he isn’t very fond of those either, and you won’t catch him cozying up to them.

- NOTES - ARTHURIANA: One of Tanba’s favorite pastimes in life was reading, but of all the texts he bought from European traders, he fond himself being very fond of the stories surrounding or related to King Arthur and the other Knights of the Round Table. When creating his ‘Republic’ after uniting Iga province, Tanba even tried (keyword tried-- his ego ended up getting in the way of course) to model his government after the Round Table setup. However, despite Tanba’s way of governing, his morals, and general mannerisms not aligning with that of King Arthur’s or any of the Round Table knights he read about in those fairy tales, he was still very fond of the stories, and he was even more fond of the Knight’s themselves, and he often wondered what it would be like to meet some of them-- and even possibly take some of them into his service.

Thank’s to the Holy Grail Shenanigans, across some of his verses Tanba might actually get chances to engage in the former, though the latter would probably be off the table...

- PERSONAL SPACE: Tanba truly has no sense of personal space when it comes to how he approaches other people-- he doesn’t constantly invade other peoples space but he also has no problems doing so if he feels the need, even going so far as to touch other peoples hair without their permission (albeit in a completely platonic way-- not that it’s any less rude or jarring but a distinction to be made nonetheless). Hilariously enough, despite his wanton disregard for other peoples personal space at times, he is very averse when it comes to other people invading his personal space and touching him in any way without permission. It’s a very ‘it’s only okay when /I/ do it’ kind of thing with him.

- LANGUAGE: When using Hensojutsu, Tanba is able to replicate pretty much everything about a target, the skills the possess, the weapons they own, the abilities they harbor, their powers, etc. While Tanba doesn’t gain access to a targets memories, he does also, while in the form of a target, gain access to whatever languages they may speak, but only while he’s in that target’s form, or a part of him is.

misc. thoughts: Chris is interesting because he starts out kind of unlikeable, but then grows into the immensely likable and relatable character. I think he’s the kind of character that people can identify with, since we’ve all been depressed and had our self-concept damaged. He’s exactly what Sawamura needed -- someone supportive, but strict, and is a better fit to nurture Sawamura than Miyuki, since Miyuki is subtle and there is nothing subtle about Sawamura Eijun.
