What several levels of exhaustion does to a mother fucker.
I was listening to the album grow again by Moe Reen while making this. specifically Why Deny (The Climate of Our Love).
You could admit it's all on fire And confess to loving me This world is surely ending soon, Our love is certainly something true So why deny the climate of our love?
Theres so much to say about them. The world is on the precipice of disaster and yet they found each other, the successors to the emperor and empress titans. Did the emperor and empress wonder what their successors would become? did they wonder about who their successors would be? did they hope that they would find the love they had? or did they think the story of the titans ended then?
When Fearne was alone with Nana Morri did she ever dream about the people she has around her now? about sharing a bed, with no other expectations other than waking up together?
When Ashton found themselves left behind after the nobodies left him, did he dream about a group of people who listened to what they said and respected their words? did they ever dream of someone wanting to be with them just because they liked being around him?
when they were at their loneliest, was the thought of each other a fever dream?
I still stand as a firm believer that both Ashton and Fearne have two hands, but watching them grow closer together has been amazing. And I hope their relationship continues to flourish, platonically or romantically.

i'm iz, and i use this sideblog to be obnoxious about critical role (all shows, not just the main campaigns), worlds beyond number, and ttrpgs/liveplays in general. if you wanna know about who i am as a *human* go to @stochastiz
i use lots of tag-talk to quietly scream my thoughts into the ether
i try really hard to tag current-campaign critical role spoilers with #cr spoilers until the monday after episodes air, but this is your warning that i cannot be entirely trusted and i might miss tagging some posts. i'm sorry in advance
be kind to one another, and leave everything better than you found it ♡
more about what you'll find on this blog below...
liam o'brien is probably my favorite human being, and i desperately love every single character he makes. aabria iyengar, taliesin jaffee, matthew mercer, brennan lee mulligan, erika iishi, and marisha ray are all lumped together for my next favorites because decisions are hard
you'll see a lot of vax'ildan, caleb, essek, orym, keyleth, fearn, ashton, dorian, mollymauk/lucien/kingsley, and beau here. there will also be healthy doses of basically all ships that include one of liams characters (shadowgast, widomauk, dorym, ashrym, vax'leth, vax'ilmore, and whatever else strikes my fancy). i will never stop missing the mighty nein
i love meta talk, both campaign/story level ideas and character actions/choices, but this is not a space for hate or genuine anger about anything happening in a game. THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTORS PLAYING STORYTELLING GAMES TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY ENJOY ALL ASPECTS OF STORYTELLING INCLUDING TENSION AND CONFLICT

Ok, here's the thing: I want Molly back, but I don't want necessarily want him back, y'know?
In terms of party comp and dynamics, I really feel Caduceus suits the M9 better - his position as their second cleric allows Jester to focus on combat, the way we all know she wants to, and helps ensure the Nein don't fall prey to the kind of 'oh no we lost our only healer' situation that cost them Molly in the first place. Also, while I love Molly, you can essentially boil him down to 'chaotic bastard'. The same can be said for, like, 90% of the Nein. Caduceus helps to bring a sense of calm, introspection, and growth that has been essential to the Neins' character development. Plus, let's be honest, he's been here longer now. He is more of a staple of the Nein than Molly is.
Don't get me wrong, I still want Lucien gone and Molly returned, and I'm dying to see his reactions to stuff like Nott's real self, Caleb's backstory, Fjord's new accent, Sprinkle the Immortal Weasel, etc - but after, I'd rather he go do his own thing, or settle down somewhere and the M9 visit occasionally.
Or Taliesin Jaffee can play two characters. I mean, he is an immortal eldritch being, he could handle it XD

la by night s04e01
so the first ep of season 4 aired last night and i stayed up way past a good time to go to bed to watch it
some thoughts (okay, a lot of thoughts. a lot more thoughts than I originally had)
I’m glad that they decided to make this season with more of an ensemble cast that revolves around our main coterie. I think this makes a lot of sense with how VtM is run, where players often stay in the same city and meet and affect others who are also within that city. Having a larger cast like this helps the audience realize that all these people, even if they’re not PCs, have their own lives and desires that change and evolve. It’s also nice to have all these people to bounce off of in the room, and i think it makes for great roleplaying
That. Opening. Glow. Up. I’m loving the new character pics and seeing Xander and Josephine on there just gave me chills. I’m so happy that the fandom reaction to X and Eva have now made them main characters and I’ll be soooo happy when we see more of them in the season to come.
ok, on to the actual episode
Annabelle and Kyoko are a great pairing, and having these two together just makes us see how “immature” they are as young Kindred. Having both of them despair over being the youngest in their respective groups was great, and I hope they get to hang out more in the future.
Kyoko’s backstory was nice, her going to private school makes for a good reason for being Embraced into the Tremere, as they can be pretty selective. I would have really loved to hear about her experience in the Cam more, as well as the Pyramid. Being a baby Tremere, her Sire probably wouldn’t have been able to Bond her, so that experience might be very different compared to an older Tremere like Hester.
Also, was the blonde hair a Choice or does the actress just dye her hair a lot? Is this the colour thing that affects Eva also beginning to affect Kyoko more, or am I just getting Worried over nothing?
Baby B and Special K trying to get into a club was.... well it was stupidly hilarious. Annabelle embracing the title of Baby B to use it to her advantage, but also absolutely hating the name is a Mood
Yayyy Mica Burton as Delilah. I’ve been waiting for the Thin-Bloods to show up again for a while now, and I hope with this initial meeting that they can be brought into the fold. I really love all the mechanics that go into Thin-Bloods, their alchemy and such, and I hope that can be explored more.
Annabelle getting misty-eyed over the fact that Delilah can walk in the sun while she’ll never see it again.
Also love that Delilah is the youngest one there, yet has obviously been given the most responsibility out of the three of them, mostly due to the fact that there exists no structure within the Thin-Bloods to introduce Embracees into their new existence, and full-blooded vamps refuse to help at all. I think once Victor opens the doors to the Valley, they’ll be very surprised to see just how many Thin-Bloods there are.
LOL at the three of them just talking about Harry Potter. Millennials.
On to Carver: First, congrats to Taliesin Jaffe for making me hate Taliesin Jaffe.
Second: Congrats to Erika Ishii for making me believe that she hates Taliesin Jaffee
Carver is an absolute gift and a fucking troll. His new leather jacket is... wow what a piece of shit.
OK BOOMER
I actually really like what he has to say here, though. Dude has obviously been all up in the Book of Nod and knows his prophecies well, but I think he also interprets them very differently compared to most other Kindred. It seems like he believes that the Time of the Thin Blood is more of a herald of the end of the Cam and the end of Kindred elders ruling over their Childer, rather than the end of Kindred as a species. That’s enough of a reason for the Cam to be sacred of them.
“A truce is the time you spend preparing for the war.” Yeah, he’s right. He’s an asshole, but he’s right.
Aaaaannnd Aurora shows up. I almost thought it was Ib. Damn
WHY DOES SHE WANT CARVER? WHAT DID HE DO TO THE LASOMBRA?!?!???
Anyways, on to break. All these pictures are beautiful, and they’re obviously teasing for things that are yet to come.
Also, can I just say?? Red dress Eva. Red dress Eva? Red. Dress. Eva. Fuck yes. Her nails, and her eyelashes are red too in one of the pics. Really going for that Crimson Petal thing, and I’m starting to wonder if there’s more to that name than just a lover’s endearment. The unknown context here is killing me. Also, there is one pic in particular that she looks suspiciously Not Pale and I’m also left wondering if that is a Choice.
Wow, all the lore drops in the second half. Thin-Bloods might be able to get “cured”, however, you define that, whether it means returning to Humanity, or becoming a full Kindred. He also lets some things slip of stuff going down in other cities.
Aurora also gets the chance to Lore Drop, basically stating that the Lasombra were the original Anarchs, they formed the Sabbat, and then realized that anarchy was a bad idea, so they had to run back to the Cam. There is, of course, some missing info there about Gehenna and all the Sabbat dying because they decided to go kill some Antediluvians, but y’know, that might come up later.
Awww, Aurora misses her brother. Who’s going to tell her?
Carver starting a fight is just, so Carver. What an asshole.
Good job Kyoko!
So Annabelle potentially giving up Carver to protect Jasper’s Blood Leech secrets (I think, I don’t know what else Aurora would know about him) is interesting. I want to think she has a bigger plan here, but I don’t know. I honestly think that Annabelle cares more About her friends than the Anarch movement as a whole, though she’d never admit it. Jasper just almost died, and that nearly broke her. Meanwhile, Carver’s come around twice now and has just been kind of a shithole. We don’t know what kind of ripples his death would potentially cause, but I understand why it’s easier for Annabelle to write it off like that. But hey, maybe there’s more to it. I dunno.
“I have sworn, if my brother has come to some harm, to destroy those who did so, and I will keep my word to the last.” Mhhhh. Cool. Cool cool cool cool. Who’s going to tell her?
Okay, now to the Big Reveal: Wake Juice. This is obviously a Level 5 Blood Alchemy Recipe called Awaken the Sleeper. RAW, these types of recipes take THREE YEARS to research, and then a month to actually create and distill the solution, so we’re going to have to wait a while to see the outcome of this thing. The rules also say that “For each success above 2 on the distillation roll, the elixir can awaken a vampire of the Blood Potency”. The Distillation dice pool depends on what type of Distillation method they use, but needless to say that if they want to wake up a high BP vamp they need to roll pretty high.
So now the question is: who are they going to wake up? I think the obvious choice is the Nos in the Labyrinth, who many people assume is Zelios. Unfortunately, we don’t know if the dude is still there because the Cam were there int he last ep of season 3. If the Cam have him, they might be able to wake him up, especially with Tremere blood magic on their side. Maybe another Topored vamp will reveal themselves this season?
Finally: Baron Nelli Griffith of Hollywood. God, that feels good to say. It’s sad to see Issac go, as he’s obviously a huge comfort in her life. Victor and Nelli now rival Vannevar and Suzzane as LA’s hottest power couple. (Oh God, the parallels) She’s definitely not ready, but it’s good to know that Victor’s got her back.
Welp, that’s all for now, can’t wait to tune in next week and see what’s next in our vampire story....
