I got to teach a rando the mechanics of Toborro’s Courtyard today!
There was a call in genchat/Endgame for a dwt for TC groupfinder, and I offered to do it, since I was on Eleison. They told me to go ahead and queue. Queued up, but kept matching with a group that didn’t include the person who had asked for help. Apparently they queued and got someone else and just went with it? But someone in the group that I matched with whispered me and asked me to ready up, so I went with it.
Upon getting inside, noticed no one was setting up isotope canisters, but that’s not too big of a deal in story mode, tanks can really choose whether they want to use them in sm based on how much they want to stress out their healers, I guess. Then the discussion of who was going to take adds sort of suggested that most of them hadn’t been in TC before.
Tank pulled, positioned in between Golden Fury and the grass. All melee taking damage from Fury’s attacks. Tank stayed in for most of the first laser and nearly died (or might have died and gotten res’d, I’m not sure). Tank stayed in for second laser and died. Fury fixated on me, so I moved to the gate behind him to keep the radiation and stompy-stomps off the melee dps, but because I didn’t have isotope, I took a lot of damage, and even with dcds, didn’t do super well, and we ended up wiping. I whispered the tank and asked if they were actually tank spec or if they were dps but had just queued as tank. They responded “I can do either, but I’m tank right now.” I explained that they should probably break an isotope tank right before pull to protect them from the radiation and turn the boss toward the back wall to keep the dps from taking damage. They took my advice on the first part, but still stood with the melee dps. I pulled threat off of them pretty easily (I think they were probably not geared), and got positioned by the gate, shrouded for the first round, then got isotope during the first laser, and kept Fury’s attention for the rest of the fight. Once it was over, I whispered them to stick around so I could show them some tips if they tanked it again - how to position the canisters before the fight and when to refresh them, where to stand so that the tank is pretty much the only one taking damage from the boss, and a reminder that you have to get out for the laser.
They seemed really excited to have gotten some pointers, so I hope they had fun and get to run some good stuff.

[Satele Sunday on SWTOR~!]
So we did successfully get together a group for weekday ““warm up”” activities the other day: nice & straightforward veteran mode flashpoint in groupfinder, & a couple of story Uprisings (tho when it was just 2 of us on Landing Party we did meet an untimely end through some unexpected challenges LOL. Good times). Fun adventures & gr8 company!
Now for THIS SUNDAY [Ed: that’s tomorrow], I’ve been organizing towards an Ops group. 8] Yes! Ops for babies!!!
[Actually, we’ve grown from the babies we were during our first adventure back in JUNE(!!!), where we met many a colorful end, so maybe we’re Ops preschool now.]
I’m expecting we’ll have Julie leading the mission again, with the big ho hit squad back in action. 8) Possibly MAMA SHIMMER will reprise her heals w/ her lorship Isme the Inquisitor, and our Many-Alted member of the Fellowship is ready with a healer as well.
That’s the signed-up 6 so far. . . 1 tank, 2 heal, 3 dps. (Imperial side) We are looking at Kragga’s Palace as probably the Easiest OP of All.
In filling whatever spots are left over, we would ideally like to offer group experience to tumbler-players who have been missing the chance to see what playing the Ops is like.
We have some friendly pinch-hitter volunteers who I know are more experienced, but if you were at the Satele Shan server parties & you are someone who has basically NEVER seen the inside of an Ops before, plz do get the Discord link from me! If not for this time, then for potential future plans.
Not that we’ll stop posting here, but. . . WE ARE HOPING TO DO WORLD BOSSES ONE DAY. B) So yeah. Don’t be shy!

Queue with GroupFinder! You’ll be matched with a well-balanced group!
Tumblr media
some of GroupFinder’s matches for me today:
-all dps Athiss, with no one with an actual cleanse, only if they had picked utilities that make one of their abilities do a cleanse, and with no stealthers. Still doable. Athiss is nicer with at least one stealthy, because let’s face it, we’re all lazy when we’re just trying to get our Socialite points for the day.
-all dps False Emperor. No stealthers. Thank you GroupFinder, this was one of your better jokes.
-an actual balanced tank, healer, dps, dps, mixed-class group--FOR HAMMER STATION.

Groupfinder adventures today:
All-dps Czerka Core Meltdown. Sin, Sin, Operative, and Sorc. Okay, so two with taunts, two with pocket heals, everyone with some decent defensives, but overall a relatively squishy group. This is fine. Thanks, groupfinder.
We got to the Tatooine biome, and the other Sin asked in group chat “everyone know this fight?” Sorc and I responded affirmative. Operative said “this is my first day playing :)” Other Sin jumped in and started the fight. (me, screaming internally: “WHY DID YOU ASK THEN???”) Other Sin dragged the boss around the room, trying to predict which generator would be active, rather than just holding him in the middle to wait and then bringing him to a generator when it became active, and we had to walk comically slow to the generator and nearly die in the sandstorm simulation, and taunted the second I got threat on the boss to try to just keep him in the middle so we could get him to the generators faster.
In the DK biome, someone (not sure who) spammed the flower pods the second they came up, regardless of where the boss was (possibly the Operative, because “ooh, clicky!” and no one had the time to explain the fight because the Other Sin jumped in before we could have a chance).
In the Vigilant room, Other Sin jumped in and started the fight immediately, so Operative dropped all their zappy circles right on top of us while we were trying to kill the data cores. Luckily Vigilant went down pretty quickly. Overall not terrible, but also not Groupfinder’s funniest work.
Also queued up with @astrifer-bound on their Operative healer Jonesy and me still on Eleison. Still no tanks, but we got matched for Hammer Station with a Sorc and a mid-level Jugg dps who really wanted to be the tank. (We get it, your meat is huge). Would not let me properly los mobs. Kept taunting shit off of me and then nearly died for their trouble (and Lex nearly let them at the droid boss). Unfortunately at the turrets, the sorc’s aoe’s woke up the second turret that I cc’d, so it of course tried to obliterate Jonesy, and the not-tank absolutely did Not Notice (or, more likely, didn’t have a taunt up from having taunted the first turret off of me, and couldn’t taunt the one that had been cc’d to save the healer), but after I kept both of the turrets’ attention and didn’t die, the jugg seemed to stop trying to taunt stuff off of me, and actually let me tank the last two bosses (dude, I appreciate your willingness to die, but if there’s two dwt’s and one of them is nearly twice your level and actively protecting the healer maybe let them skank tank instead of you?; yes, as a Jugg, you should be sturdier than the Sin, but you got your own ass handed to you and ate it, so let the little murder librarian show you how it’s done)
