of course the one day you decide to take a day off, your best friend confesses her love for your husband

warnings: emotional cheating (kinda), fighting (kinda)

spencer didn’t tell you about what had happened that day. once he got home he wanted to forget the whole thing ever happened, so he wouldn’t have to think about choosing between waiting on jj and loving his wife.

"hey." was all he said as he walked into your shared home, hanging his satchel on the coat rack and heading straight for the bedroom, all without making any eye contact with you.

this was odd for him, as he usually greets you with a hug and kiss once he gets home and would sit with you and talk for upwards of 20 minutes before you decide to go to bed. but you just assumed it was a tough case that reminded him of you in some way, which was often the case.

it had been almost half an hour since he went into the bedroom and you were growing concerned. what could he be doing that's taking so much time. giving up on waiting, you decided to head to bed to find him already dead asleep on the bed.

the next day, he continued with the same odd behavior. all you got that morning was a "good morning" before he walked out to the kitchen as opposed to the usual forehead kiss, back hug, and cuddle.

you were about to confront him about the odd behavior when you got a call from penelope.

"hello?" penelope started frantically ranting about jj and spencer until you had to tell her to slow down. "jj said she was in love with reid. now i don't know the legitimacy of her statement because they were in a hostage situation but i talked to spencer and he was panicking saying he didn't know who to choose, i'm sorry." your heart dropped.

"um. ok, thanks for letting me know." hanging up, you paced in the bedroom for a bit thinking about what had happened.

he said he didn't love her anymore.

he said that the feelings were only temporary.

he said he loved you.

she promised she didn't like him that way.

you were too caught up in your thoughts to notice spencer walking into the room asking what was wrong. "when were you going to tell me?" you ask, assuming he knows exactly what you're talking about.

"what do you mean?" is all he says. "you know exactly what i mean spencer, jj saying she loves you? then you go to penelope saying you don't know who to choose? how about.. i don't know, your wife." he stays silent and just looks at the floor.

"say something." again, he just stares at the floor. "come on spencer don't go silent on me now. what the hell happened?"

finally, he looks into your eyes. "i'm sorry." is all he says.

"sorry doesn't do anything right now. did you mean what you said? about not knowing who to choose?" sitting down on the bed he simply looks up at you. "i don't know."

warnings: angst, really sad lol, but happy ending ! part one is here

it had been a few days since you and spencer had stopped talking. despite working and living together, the silent treatment had been going strong. you hadn’t really talked to jj either other than giving her a simple nod on a case or a nasty look here and there, though she had been overall avoiding you.

sitting at your desk, doing paperwork, garcia came over to you while staring at spencer the whole time. “hey, um could you come with me for a second i need to tell you something.”

“uh, sure.” putting the files away, you followed her to her little office where she shut the door behind you.

“don’t tell spencer i told you this, but he’s really sorry, y/n. every day since i told you what happened he’s come to me almost crying saying how he doesn’t know what to do and he wants to fix the problem. please just talk to him.” she pleaded, holding onto your arm

“i don’t know penelope.” you sighed, sitting on her chair. “please please please he’s like a sad little lost puppy without you. you don’t have to make everything right all at once but just talk to him.”

“how am i supposed to talk to him though. how are we supposed to make it right again i can’t just excuse him saying he doesn’t know who to choose when we’ve been married for years? there’s no way i could just overlook it.”

“and i get that and you have every reason to be upset. but the silent treatment is just killing the team.” she looked down at you, grabbing your hands “pretty please?” you sighed, agreeing to talk to him.

grabbing your coat and bag, you walked back to spencer’s desk, not making any eye contact with him. “grab your stuff, let’s go.” he immediately followed right behind you.

once you got outside the building, and into your car you headed to a park. the one he had taken you to the night he proposed.

sitting on the bench, you looked up at him. “sit down.”

“i miss you.” was all he said. you could see him looking over at you through the corner of your eye, but all you did was look down.

“where do we go from here, spencer? help me figure this out because i have no idea what to do.” finally looking over at him you could tell he hadn’t been sleeping well since he had willingly taken the couch.

“i’m not sure. but i know i have explaining to do.” he sighed, not knowing exactly where to start. “you know when i said that the feelings were only there until you came into my life? that part was true. and when i said i didn’t know who to choose? that part was true too. but only because her whole confession resurfaced buried feelings that i thought i had gotten rid of since we got together. and i know trusting me is the last thing you’re able to do right now, but trust me when i say that when i proposed to you here in this park, and when we got married, and any of the millions of times when i said that i love you. she wasn’t a part of any of that. not even in the slightest.”

he was almost crying at this point, and you could tell the guilt of the whole situation was eating him alive. but that didn’t make anything better.

“i know, spencer. and i really really want to make us work, but i don’t know how i could just move on from this.” you said, looking over at him with tears in your eyes.

his heart dropped. “are you trying to say something?” you couldn’t bear to look at him anymore, the feeling being too painful. “i’m sorry.”

grabbing your hands, he looked over at you. "please. let's work through this. even if it means taking a short break from each other to figure things out, i can't lose you."

your heart breaks just looking at the state he's in. dark circles around his eyes from the lack of sleep, the tears swelling up in his eyes, and the desperation in his face for you to stay.

if you were being completely honest, you really didn't want to leave him, not just because you felt awful for him, but because you know how badly it would hurt you too. you don't think you could ever find a person who could even come close to the kind of person Spencer is. kind, caring, nice, funny, knows exactly what you like and dislike. he was unlike anybody else.

"how about we take some time to think then. i think we could both use that and then we can come to the decision." he looked grateful as ever. "yes, yes. a million times yes let's do that." he said, hugging you tighter than he ever has. "ok don't get too excited."

a few weeks had passed since you decided to take a break to think about where to go next with your relationship, you hadn't seen spencer much since then as he had been spending most of his time teaching and you went to move in with penelope temporarily. you gave spencer a call to let him know you wanted to meet up today at your shared home to talk.

"come in" he said while opening the door for you, he looked happier than usual which settled your nerves a bit more. "so, are we here to talk about our decision?" he asked, you nodded in response

sitting down on the couch together, he started rambling on about how he felt. "i know what i did was an asshole thing and i should have never said anything about anything and you're my wife and that's what i should have said when you asked me who to choose but to be honest there is no need to choose because the only person I have and will ever, ever need is you and forever only you. and i'm so sorry for everything that happened and I hope you feel the same way."

staring at him, you didn't give him an answer which made him nervous. "say something.. please." you just smiled at him

"well. it's going to take a lot of work to get back to where we were, and i hope you know my trust in you has gone down by a bit, but I talked to jj. and i came to the decision that i still want to be with you. because to be honest with you, i don't know how I could ever be with anyone else."

he looked you in the eye, with the biggest smile. "i love you, so so much. more than you'll ever know. it's always been you." he said, pulling you in for a hug and kissing the top of your head

some of these might be canon, lol sry 🤗

- absolutely hates insects. like if either one of u saw a spider there would be a 30 minute discourse of who has to kill it

- listens to what the other team members listen to just to see what kind of music they like

- takes mental notes of things the team members say they have interest in or want so he knows what to get them for their birthdays

- if he ever got social media (most likely by the convincing of none other than penelope garcia) it would take him actual centuries to figure out how to use it

- spends most of his birthdays alone reading poetry books in his bedroom while occasionally watching old tv shows

- also never uses his tv. like ever. except for the few occasions when he’s read everything in his apartment already and has nothing else to do

- or when it’s halloween and he wants to watch his favorite horror movies

- has a few pen pals from other countries that he hopes to meet one day if they continue writing to each other

- although we know he’s not bad at drawing, i feel like he likes to doodle to pass time. just little characters he made up for himself

zoning back in, he finally replied. "oh. uh, it's not. you can sit." he smiled up at you, removing his bag from the chair and setting it next to him on the floor.

while you took out your notebook, folder, and pencil he watched attentively. he noticed your manicured nails, they were almond shaped and baby pink. he noticed how your cardigan was a bit too long and covered some of your hands. and he especially noticed how neat you were with everything you did.

breaking the silence between you two, he finally spoke up. "so, you're new to hawkins?" you nodded your head while muttering a soft 'mhm' as you wrote the date in your notebook

he paid special attention to the heart next to the year. everything about you was just so.. cute. even though he barely knew anything about you and it had only been a few minutes of sitting next to you, there was something about you.

"i came from florida. dad got a new job here so i didn't really get a say." you said, turning to him to make eye contact. "that must suck then. i bet you miss hot and sunny florida huh." he said, slightly pouting.

"mmm, not really. especially this time of year. it always gets too hot. plus, i'm looking forward to fall in a small town." you said, smiling.

and that was the start of it.

since then, you and eddie had become friends. although you did end up joining the cheer team and most days ate with them, you always made sure to stop by the hellfire club's table to say hello and give him one of your snacks that you packed every day. his special request was always a box of nerds. though you always suggested that he eat something that wasn't straight sugar.

"great suggestion angel, but i'm gonna stick with the sugar." was always his excuse to why he won't eat healthier snacks.

now, eddie always thought you were attractive and sort of always had a crush on you, ever since that first day of school in english class. but through getting to know you, the crush, and slight obsession, started to escalate.

you fully consumed his mind, and he both hated and loved it. anytime he saw a pink pair of platform heels, he thought of you. olivia newton-john starts playing? you.

it got to the extent he even thought of you while he was in his bedroom pleasuring himself. you, you, you. it's all he could ever think about.

which is why he couldn't control himself when he saw you at school or on weekends. you always wore the shortest skirts and tiniest tops, and eddie's mega tall so the height difference would never help, especially with the way you always had to look up at him to make eye contact. and he never wanted to be a perv but he just couldn't help but look down at your chest, but he always made sure to never make it obvious enough to make you uncomfortable.

but his not-so-innocent thoughts always got the best of him. cute pigtails he would think to himself whenever he saw you wear them to your weekend get togethers, but somehow his perverted brain finds a way to turn something as innocent as your pigtails into something dirty.

he felt terrible for seeing you that way so often. but he needed you so badly he needed you to know at some point.

so he calls you one night while he's smoking a joint and watching television home alone hoping the marijuana would calm his nerves. "yes eddie?" your somewhat raspy voice signaled to him you were already asleep even though it was only 10pm.

"sorry for waking you, angel" "oh it's alright. what did you need eds?" the weed in fact did not calm his nerves as he was already shaking thinking about what he's about to ask you. he didn't realize he had zoned out until you called his name again. "eddie? it's late, was there something you needed?" you asked again.

"oh um yes. i know it's already ten, but i was wondering if you wanted to spend the night?" now this shouldn't have made him so nervous. you had spent the night countless times before. but with his intentions being different this time, he was a nervous wreck.

he was mostly nervous because he wasn't sure if you even saw him the way he saw you, but little did he know he had the same effect on you as you did on him.

so many nights were spent thinking about him in ways that made your tummy feel weird, but you never knew what it meant so you just kept it to yourself. you noticed all the times he stared at your chest, or at your ass, or when he would stutter whenever you looked up at him while you were sitting. the worst part was that these things made you excited. you liked eddie, a lot. and you knew he liked you back, it was so obvious. you only hesitated to pursue him because you didn't know if the feelings the thought of him brought you were normal.

"um. sure. i'll tell my parents i'm at nancy's. i'll be over in about 15 minutes." you agreed, seeing this as your chance to finally confess to him about how you've been feeling.

now eddie on the other hand was practically shitting his pants, and his thought out plan to when you reject his offer had to be forgotten. quickly cleaning his room to the best of his ability, although he knew you wouldn't mind either way.

he froze once he heard the knocking on the trailer door. had it already been 15 minutes? trying to collect himself he took a deep breath and headed to open the door for you. and once he did? oh my.

you were wearing almost see-through white short shorts with a lace tank top that cut just before the hem of said shorts, paired with an oversized cardigan. and my goodness, your face. you even looked perfect when you were half asleep with that lip gloss you always had on and long lashes. you even wore his favorite hair ribbons to sleep.

seeing you at his doorstep instantly made his jeans tighten. but you didn't need to know that yet.

"hey, come in let's go to my room." he opened the door wider to give you some space to walk inside. he couldn't help but watch as your shorts gradually rode up the inside of your thighs. no. he had to control himself.

"so, uh. before you go to sleep can i talk to you about something?" he said, sitting next to you as you already underneath the covers and cuddled into his bed. you always loved going to his trailer. you loved the freedom, being able to listen to music as loud as you could, never really having any rules when his uncle wayne wasn't at home.

getting out from underneath the covers and sitting on your knees to get closer to him, you put your head on his shoulder. "sure eds, what is it?" you said, looking up at him. he looked back down at you and sighed. "i don't know how to say this without being.. weird."

giving him a confused look, you removed your head from his shoulder. "just say it eddie, i'm sure it's not so bad." if only you knew.

probably met on a case or something of that sort. he also studied in la at one point so they possibly could have met through a mutual friend but tbh her being a target is most likely!

penelope is obviously a very big fan. like out of all the people on the team, she's probably the one who listens to y/n's music the most, maybe even went to one of her concerts

oh my god just think about the sweet little love songs. :'(( ugh imagine spence getting all flustered when it gets released and the whole team is just playing the song 24/7 to tease him

most likely didn't have any social media beforehand. but after dating y/n he decided to get instagram or maybe twitter just to see her posts and literally only post her on his feed because she's just so pretty and cute to post

oh my.. imagine the fans the first time y/n ever posts a photo of spencer in a photo dump !! and his reaction to all the comments and tweets, he's just so confused why people want him to hit them with a truck he's like ??? "that would be fatal, why would they thank me for that?"

the whole team is very very supportive of them though, even if it's long distance because they find a way to make it work.
