Bhumi recalls Sushant as ‘rare mind’ as ‘Sonchiriya’ turns 3

Actress Bhumi Pedenekar has remembered Sushant Singh Rajput on the second release anniversary of their film Sonchiriya. She recalls the late Sushant as an actor with a restless mind.

For the last four years, I have asked family and friends to help out with the Best Original Song category - because in all other categories, you'd be forced to watch entire movies to decide it. This is a musical thank-you to all of you, who have contributed, in your ways, to support the Movie Odyssey and me. Please do not feel like you have to do this; there are no hard feelings if you do not participate, and you have my thanks either way. But if you are, I hope you enjoy this 2018 edition!

This final round has the largest chronological spread we have ever covered: eighty-eight years. Songs in English, German (making its debut), Hindi, Japanese are all involved. A Vietnamese-language song made its debut for MOABOS, but was eliminated in the preliminary.

INSTRUCTIONS Please rank (#1-16) your choices in order. The top ten songs will receive nominations. Be warned, there is a new tabulation method for this year's final (described in the "read more" at the bottom). There is no minimum or maximum amount of songs you can rank, but because of the nature of this new tabulation system, it is highly recommended to rank as many songs as possible, rather than only one or two. Those who rank fewer songs run a greater risk of their ballots being discarded as I am counting the ballots. Again, this is all described in the "read more". Why not implement at a minimum number of songs to rank? Well, I believe in giving you folks as much freedom as possible.

Please consider to the best of your ability: how musically interesting the song is, its lyrics, context within the film (if you've seen it - this factor also includes integration into the film's score), choreography/dance direction (if applicable; not many song-and-dance numbers this year), and the song's cultural impact/life outside the film (if applicable, and by far the least important factor). TABULATION Like the preliminary... a respondent’s first choice receives 10 points, the second choice receives 9, the third choice receives 8, etc. HOWEVER, the points system is used only for tiebreaker purposes.

The way the winner will be decided is through a process called instant-runoff voting (IRV; the Academy Awards uses this method to choose a Best Picture winner, visually represented here - you should really watch this video if the below doesn't make sense... which it probably won't):

All #1 picks from all voters are tabulated. A song needs more than half of all aggregate votes to win (50% of all votes plus one... i.e. if there are thirty respondents, sixteen #1 votes are needed to win on the first count).

If there is no winner after the first count (as is most likely), the song(s) with the fewest #1 votes or points is/are eliminated. Then, we look at the ballots of those who voted for the last-placed song(s). Their votes then go to the highest-remaining (non-eliminated) song on their ballot.

This process (in #2) repeats until one song has secured 50% plus one of all votes. We keep eliminating nominees and transfer votes to the highest-ranked, non-eliminated song on each ballot. NOTE: It is possible after several rounds of counting that respondents who did not entirely fill in their ballots will have wasted their votes at the end of the process. For example, if a person voted the second-to-last place song as their #1, ranked no other songs, and the count has exceeded two rounds, their ballot is discarded (lowering the vote threshold needed to win), and they have no say in which song ultimately is the winner.

A song wins when it reaches more than fifty percent of all #1 and re-distributed votes.

Jaya Bachchan slams people for defaming film industry

Amid the raging controversy over the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the subsequent blame game that has been going on for the past three months, Samajwadi Party member Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday raised the issue of continuous effort to defame the film industry in the Rajya Sabha.

Bachchan demanded the government to provide protection and put a ban on the unending bashing being faced by members of the film industry.

“Some of the people who have got name and fame has said it is ‘gutter’,” she said, without naming the individuals but added they should not defame the industry.

“It is the film industry that gave name and fame to many people,” she said. Their is a continuous process to defame the industry for the things done by a handful, she added.

She said that film Industry employs many people in different areas and some are highest individual tax payers.

Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan was a British American 25- years old actress who was well known for her films like Nishabd with Amitabh Bachchan which was her debut film. She also appeared in films like Ghajini and Housefull. She ended her life on June 3, 2013, in Mumbai. She hung herself in her apartment roof fan.

On June 7, 2013, a six-page suicide note was found by her sister where she directly accused actor Suraj Pancholi, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, whom she was dating at that point. On August 1, 2016, the CBI declared the cause of her death as ‘suicide by hanging’.

Her mother alleged that it was a murder and not suicide, but no victims were found or disclosed. The case was closed and buried under the name of murder and still, it’s a question if that was a suicide or not and her death is still considered as one of the most unsolved deaths in Bollywood.

Divya Bharti

Divya Bharti was one of the gorgeous actresses who made her Bollywood debut with the action thriller Vishwathma. She is best known for her films in Shola Aur Shabnam and Deewana. She got married to Sajid Nadiadwala at the early age of 18.

She died in April 1993, after she fell from the fifth floor of the balcony of her Tulsi apartment in Mumbai. There were rumors that she was intoxicated at a party after which she went to her balcony and lost her grip and fell. There were also reports that a fair amount of alcohol was found in her blood. It was believed that the cause of her death was heavy internal bleeding at the back of her head.

There were also rumors that the actress was intoxicated at the party which resulted in her death. There were many speculations that pointed her death towards a murder but the case was closed in 1998 and the final reason was stated as an accidental death but her death is one of the most mysterious deaths in Bollywood.

Parveen Babi

Parveen Babi was considered the most popular actress of Bollywood during the period of 70s and 80s. She was considered a glamorous fashion icon throughout her career. She starred in Blockbusters such as Deewar, Namak Halaal, Amar Akbar Anthony, and so on. She was the first actress to grace the cover of a magazine named Time Magazine in 1976.

She was being rumored to have diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and was found hanging at her house in Mumbai in January 2005. She hanged herself to death in her Versova apartment on 29th July 2004. She died at the age of 26. He was born on February 26, 1937, in Mumbai. His blockbusters movie includes Parvarish, Amar Akbar Anthony, Chacha Bhatija, and Dharam Veer.

The master of family entertainer met his tragic end on March 1st, 1994. The man behind the megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s calling in Bollywood tumbled from the gallery of his home and met his death. It still remains unclear if it was an accident or a suicide. There were assumptions that he took his life as he was not able to cope up with failing health and a declining career.
