Remember Harry expressing his dismay about the photos taken of Diana in the car during that 20th anniversary documentary? Well guess who hosted the US show that put those pics up? Gayle King. And the producer of that show is apparently the producer of this interview. What a stupid tool Harry is.

An executive at the US TV network which will broadcast Harry and Meghan’s interview was executive producer of a controversial programme that screened images of Princess Diana as she lay dying.

Susan Zirinsky worked on CBS’s 48 Hours Investigates in 2004 when it screened two images of an unconscious Diana slumped in the back of a car after the crash in Paris in 1997. The 69-year-old is now head of CBS News, one of the network’s most powerful jobs.

The decision to broadcast the pictures, which had never been shown before out of respect to Diana’s family, provoked outrage.

Prince Harry’s uncle, Earl Spencer, said he was ‘shocked and sickened’ while then Prime Minister Tony Blair branded the pictures 'distasteful’. Prince Harry has previously spoken of how hard he finds it to come to terms with the behaviour of photographers who took pictures of his injured mother.

Questions, Thoughts On Changes at CBS News, From Making History for Women to CBS’ Male Anchor Problem 

A few thoughts on the massive shakeup at CBS News, which will see Norah O’Donnell move to the evening newscast, CBS This Morning revamped around Gayle King starting May 20 and former morning anchor John Dickerson moving over to 60 Minutes. 

This makes history. Once all the changes are in place, a woman will serve as the star or central anchor on several of CBS’ highest-profile news programs: O’Donnell on The CBS Evening News, King on CBS This Morning and Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation. It’s a shame that it took #metoo sexual harassment scandals which ousted former morning anchor Charlie Rose, former 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager and former CBS CEO Les Moonves, to see so many talented women given a chance to make their mark. It would be wonderful if the networks learned -- given what’s happened at CBS and at NBC with the ouster of Matt Lauer – that they should give female anchors and news executives better opportunities sooner. But they rarely retain such lessons for long. Susan Zirinsky, the network’s new president of news, is taking a bit of gamble handing so many changes at once to a staff that has already been through a lot. But the original success of the modern format at CBS This Morning came through a gamble, so I understand the thinking.

It’s a great move for O’Donnell, but… I’ve thought for quite a while that O’Donnell’s no-nonsense style and sharp intelligence would make her a perfect anchor for the evening news. Her distinctive style will also be a welcome change from the bland competence of the show’s current anchor Jeff Glor – who may, unfortunately, be the anchor left without the best spot in this game of network news musical chairs. But the evening newscast has increasingly become less relevant in the modern media ecology. O’Donnell’s challenge – faced by Glor and Scott Pelley before her – will be to keep the show relevant and capture new viewers’ attention at a time when traditional evening newscasts have less and less impact.

CBS News now has a guy problem. I love Gayle King and it’s been great to see her performance on big news stories -- like the R. Kelly interviews -- shame skeptical critics who wondered if she could handle the news part of a morning news show. But I don’t think the solution to CBS This Morning’s problems will come from surrounding her by two more smoothly bland, white male anchors like Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil (frankly, I would love to have seen ace reporters like David Begnaud or Vladimir Duthiers given a serious shot at the morning co-anchor chair). What’s obvious after Rose’s departure, is that his chemistry with O’Donnell and King has been tougher to duplicate than some might have predicted. And the succession of bland male anchors who have tried to fill that gap – including Dickerson, a nice guy and politics nerd who always seemed a bit miscast in mornings – have only proven that CBS needs to develop more distinct male anchors if they want the three-anchor format in mornings to regain its mojo. 

What’s 60 Minutes’ legacy in all this? It has been odd to see CBS’ storied newsmagazine become a place where the network parks news stars they’re not sure what do to with – from former CBS Evening News anchor Pelley (to be fair, he was always a high-profile contributor to 60 Minutes, even when he was anchoring the evening newscast), to former contributor Oprah Winfrey and now Dickerson. I have no direct knowledge of this, but I always suspected Dickerson’s decision to join the morning show was as much an effort to be a team player than anything. At the time, he was one of the network’s most-visible male anchors, but he never seemed to own the political or serious interview space the way Rose did during his time on the show. 60 Minutes remains a popular and well-honored program. But I would love to see some personnel shifts there which feel more like bringing in fresh talent and less like giving big stars a soft landing. 

How will CBS News weather all this? The last time I can remember the news division facing this much change, was in the direct aftermath of the scandal about a controversial 2004 report on then President George W. Bush’s National Guard record, which led to anchor Dan Rather leaving the CBS Evening News. Back then, Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer took over the anchor chair and stabilized the news department by focusing on traditional news and the reporting of its correspondents. Schieffer’s actions had the effect of reminding both the news division and the viewers what CBS News has long stood for – high quality reporting, delivered more or less traditionally. It will be wonderful to see how some of these anchor shifts and the move of the CBS Evening News to Washington D.C., works out. But I hope CBS News doesn’t lose sight of its roots in traditional journalism, which have always helped the news division find its way, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Danai Gurira, Julia Roberts, Carol Burnett, Emily Blunt, Lupita Nyong’o, Patricia Clarkson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jameela Jamil, Rosamund Pike, Jim Carrey, Alison Brie, Gemma Chan and Bradley Cooper. Worst dressed goes to Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore, Layra Dern, Anne Hathaway, Maya Rudolph, Rami Mlek, Molly Sims and Heidi Klum. I was so happy for winners like The Americans (highlight of the evening!!!), Regina King, Lady Gaga, Mahershala Ali, Patricia Clarkson, Darren Criss, Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek, Olivia Colman and Green Book.  The Cecil B. DeMille award went to Jeff Bridges. The new Carol Burnett award started off with Carol herself. I was saddened that Bill Hader, Henry Winkler, Kieran Culkin, Keri Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen went home empty handed. The Fiji water girl got most of the press and gave much free advertising to her product.  Some of the stars did not like her getting in their shots to push a product without their knowledge, both a clever and sad state of affairs.

The WTF award goes to Alison Brie.

Black Panther also got some love for music and costume design.  Fingers crossed for Isle of Dogs in the animated category. Actor nods had a few surprises. Willem Dafoe and Rami Malek , Lady Gaga and Melissa McCarthy are up for leads and supporting mentions are for Mahershala Ali, Regina King, Adam Driver and Sam Elliott. I am so hopeful for Spike Lee and I want to hear that speech.

The application goes on to state that ‘a wife must submit to her husband’ and a pledge must be signed to that effect.

During the campaign he gave actual ideas for that like Mexico giving us a one time payout or else he would not allow Mexican immigrants to western union money back to Mexico. Another idea was that there would be a great ta on that Western union money. It does not seem like they tried any of that and just decided we would pay for the stupid ‘wall.’ How about the money he makes off Trump merch which his website and hotels still sell to pay for it?? How about the $35 million that Trump sold in real estate in 2018? The ‘Wall’ go fund me did not reach its $1billion goal so the $20 million they did collect is being offered for refunds. Some of those people still want that money to go for its purpose so Trump is creating a non- profit. Can’t we use that money to help the border patrol agents and get the backlog in immigration court moving?? That we are still talking about this ridiculous wall and that it had a go fund me page is enough to boggle the normal brain.** I think Kimmel said it best when he suggested that Trump just tell the red hats that the wall has been built.  They believe everything he says so why wouldn’t they believe that??  It would save the country a lot of headaches. ** What the Hell is with his new “wheels and walls” mantra??** Russia caused Brexit too? Putin is a menace.** Another sink hole appeared the White House. WTF?
