Dr. Surlee from Toontown Rewritten. Submitting on anon because I'm shy, but he's just so whumpable. He's just a monkey. He saw his two best friends die in front of him to save the timeline. He saw the whole world get taken over by Cogs Inc and invented a time travel device to stop it from happening. He might have made it worse than it was before. He looks like he's constantly on the verge of tears. I want to hit him with a hammer so fucking badly. I want to bandage his wounds. I want him to get a lung infection. He used to be a chicken. I care for him so deeply and I want him pushed to the brink of death for my amusement.

So i found something.

This is from the original cutscene from Toontown Online that the story of Toontown Rewritten was based on. For the Corperate Clash players in the audiance, The Cog pressing buttons is our "The Chairman" and he's set up to be the BBEG of TTR

I've never noticed, but his hands are designed to be toon gloves

All the other Cogs have five fingers, and none of them have the three glove lines.

There's also this from the official blog...

The way Surlee talks about The Chairman...makes him sound like a son to him.

I think The Chairman might be more Toony then we thought

my toontown story also takes inspiration from the toontown online beta installer vid like toontown rewritten does, but since the actual mickey and friends/ducktales characters arent really involved in my story (so gyro gearloose and doctor surlee arent the same person in it), i was trying to think of a way to change it up a little to make it fit more, and i think i fugured smth out

the chairman/the original cog was a collaborative invention between doctor surlee, doctor dimm and professor prepostera, which took them a few years to finish. when the three of them attempt to activate the robot, it mysteriously goes haywire, and starts the manufacturing of the other cogs

the scientoons dont know why this happened, but wonder if it mightve been from faulty wiring. they dont blame each other for the malfunctioning, dimm and prepostera having a "things happen, but this still kinda sucks" mentality, but surlee thinks its all on him and takes this the hardest, as this was mainly his pet project of sorts that he spearheaded

the three of them head back to toontown while the toon council presidential elections are going on and try to warn everybody, but they dont make it back in time before slappy is saddened and kidnapped by a yesman. doomsday begins, everyone is scared and surlee cant help but feel even more at fault about the whole situation

Have I ever mentioned my headcanon that Toontown Online / Rewritten exists within an animation cel / piece of animation concept art like in Tiny Toons or no

I just think it makes sense because 1. I think Gyro has seen a human before because the Cogs look just like humans, but 2. I feel like if this was a WFRR-Toontown situation then there would be a lot more references to the human world. TTO-Toontown feels too isolated to be just another town in the human world. But it also feels too small to be its own, like, planet? We never find out what lays beyond the Schticker Book Map.

And Gyro studies what is basically cartoon physics for a living. If anyone could “break” reality and discover that Toontown is a paint cel sitting in a studio somewhere, it’s him
