New glasses!

After pet sitting I took the roas to the nearest Walmart and as I went by the clinic I realized I could go in and pick up my glasses. I was sent the text yesterday they were ready but hardly realized it. I got there just in time, a few minutes before closing, and went out 1 minute before.

FIREDROP - Quick N' Dirty Drop Pod Warfare for 1-4 Players

War! What purpose would we have in this life without it?

It’s been five years since the Siphonapterian scourge was first encountered on Apterion VI. In the years since, the superflea plague has spread across more and more of our great Empire. We still do not know how they spread, but we do know wherever our ships went after fighting them last they would appear, as if following us—clearly aiming to discover our homeworld and consume it. 

Now more than ever, we need good and honorable Soldiers to take the fight directly to the Siphonapterians and show them there’s nothing a little national pride and a heaping dose of lead (and explosives) can’t solve. Oorah!

In FIREDROP, you and your friends play as Soldiers dropped from low orbit to fight the hordes of superflea’s infesting the planet. Each mission will be unique, with its own objectives, Siphonapterian nests, and extraction point. Your job is to complete the objective and, if you can, extract with your life intact. To aid you in battle, you will have a number of clone reinforcements available upon your death as well as high impact firepower like sentries, orbital bombardments, and more.

FIREDROP is a 28-page, half-letter, black and white zine hex and dice wargame using a d20, a bunch of d6s, pens, and paper.

This is something fairly new for me, but it’s been a lot of fun to make and really fun to playtest. And yes, it is heavily inspired by Helldivers 2! I started making it while I was waiting to get into the game’s very overloaded servers to play!

Cat owners, after the experience I had today, I have a crucial recommendation for your emergency arsenal. Get you some of these:

These are silicone cat booties. Unsure if they're in pet stores but I know you can get them on Amazon, or on any of the myriad questionable cheap Chinese webstores. What are they for? They are for bathing your cat.

We're having an infestation of bizarrely resistant superfleas right now which meant everyone needed a flea bath. Not a mere dip, no, a full blown lather scrub and rinse. It was my first time using these, and I had three adult cats to bathe. These babies single-handedly kept my jugular intact today. Not a scratch on me.

I don't care where you get them, I don't have an affiliate link or any of that bullshit, nobody is paying me etc. Just get you some silicone cat booties.

So a couple days ago I found a new round of baby fleas in the little rug under our shoe rack, where Peridot’s taken to laying around since I put diatomaceous earth all over her cat tree--the previous flea hot spot. It was the first time I’d really noticed fleas in the house weeks so that was really disheartening. 

Fast forward to today, and I’ve deep-cleaned the entire downstairs again, and now every rug has had DE rubbed into it. The cat hasn’t had much flea dirt of scratching, despite her sleeping areas being the hot spots, but she’s got a flea collar in the hopes that helps. Boz has a little flea dirt but I’m hoping it’s old and his Revolution dose cleared that up. I’ll keep an eye on him. Sheba, however, is a flea disaster. We’re only finding a few fleas on her, and bathing her every couple of weeks, but she’s so itchy she’s started a new stress wound on her back leg and the amount of flea dirt on this dog is distressing. She’s been on Revolution, which has never failed us, and on top of that we’ve been rubbing DE into her fur--which she thinks is great fun, and also snack time. Going to the vet for a checkup tomorrow, going to see what they think and buy her next six months of Revolution. . . maybe the last batch wasn’t good, and that’s how we got into this mess? If that’s the case, a new batch should help considerably.

So we ended up with fleas in the rabbit barn because my neighbors won’t keep their strays to themselves. In researching what to do to treat large livestock areas, several people suggested Bifen IT and yall. That shit is magic. I wouldn’t spray it on anything that animals eat/graze off of or interact with heavily, and you want to remove them while you’re spraying, but once dry it’s safe for them to be on the same surface. Judging by the ingredients it’s NOT safe for cats. It’s like $20 for a concentrated bottle that will make about 20 gallons. When I walked in the barn yesterday I had 15 fleas on me within 5 minutes. Today? 1 in about 20 minutes, and it was sluggish.

As always, research (!!!!) your specific animals before using a new product, but this stuff wiped out our southern superfleas in 24 hours.
