Crystal-Induced Chromatism (A Storm Hawks Headcanon)

A rare phenomenon, CIC is the result of repeatedly intaking crystal energy over long periods of time. Usually this occurs with the use of Crescendoes (also known as 'Sky Knight Moves' in the Free Atmos territories), which is one of the few forms of magic in which the user needs to absorb a crystal's energy into their whole body in order to use it.

Most commonly affecting the eyes and hair, CIC slowly changes the colour of body parts over time. It can take years for these changes to take place, and in cases where it affects the eyes it can be mistaken for heterochromia. If the affected person uses the same crystal repeatedly and over time, their eye(s)/hair/etc will change colour to match the kind of crystal they favour. A known side-effect when it comes to the eyes is increased light sensitivity, as the change in eye pigment can be akin to ocular albinism, damaging the eye's ability to filter out light from its lens.

There is a chance that the new eye colour may be passed down from parent to child, however this is not confirmed.

It is also believed, but not outright confirmed, that CIC is the reason why red eyes are such a common trait on Cyclonia, as the Terra's core is made up entirely of Firebolt crystals.

So one of my headcanons is that after a few more years of being a Storm Hawk, probably around whenever he gets back from the Far Side with the rest of the team, one of Aerrow's eyes starts noticeably turning blue. The same shade of blue as the striker crystals in his daggers.

I figured it'd be cool if it wasn't just him that this happened to, and now I have Crystal-Induced Chromatism (CIC). I already had it that Cyclonians commonly have red eyes because the Terra's sat on top of a huge deposit of Firebolt crystals, so I feel like this makes sense.

Maybe ancient crystal mages who use various crystals throughout their lives have an almost rainbow iridescence to their eyes/hair because of it. I still need to figure that part out.

Buuuut since he doesn't know anyone in his new home, he just looks for old bosses in Headspace to play some kind of duet with, but when he gets frustrated over the music not sounding right, the bosses morph into Somethings. And that just keeps up until Omori gets turned into a Something as well and his old friends have to knock some sense into them-

Since I don't think you have shared why Donnie is the Prowler (unless I missed it) and I can imagine it has something to do with his family (or just Mikey) what would Donnie's reaction/thoughts be on discovering that he's been trying to kill his little brother?

I think I only hinted at it.

Donnie didn't choose that life. Given that Kingpin is the Shredder, and the Foot is a company, I put the Purple Dragons as a subsidiary team of tech researchers in the public eye, but mercenaries under the radar. Donnie got a internship at the tech part of the operation and he turned out to be awesome at it, which saved his ass in the end.

He had a suspicion that the company was shady (duh, billionaires) and did some poking around and investigated by himself, and ended up finding Some Real Shit, specially about what the Purple Dragons did in the shadows: the murders, the traffics, the whole underground gang hellhole.

And then Shredder found out that Donnie found out.

He should've been killed right there but, as said before, his work was incredible. He was a source of potential that shouldn't be disposed of, so Shredder used of manipulation, mental torture and the grandiose of his public name to keep Donnie in check by threatening his family. Dee barely hesitated to accept the terms. Mikey was his treasure, his everything, he only accepted the internship so he could fund Mikey's college.

And so he joined the Purple Dragons on both ends, as the Prowler, helping with the tech and joining Shredder's personal circle of hitmen, and an additional self-assigned job of compiling ALL valuable information and proof on the underground business into an indisputable file that would crash the entire operation into ashes. His genius didn't start and stop at mathematics.

Now, about how he found out about Mikey, it was the same as the movie.

Mikey finds out first, then when the spider gang gets raided, he reveals himself to Donnie, who immediately stops. He feels obliterated. The ferocity from which he has been attacking that new spider guy, for him to turn out to be his little brother, the one he's meant to protect, the one he's been protecting for years... And then... Well.

It was the same as the movie. Shredder pops him right in front of Mikey.

What roles do the rest of the Purple Dragons (Jeremy, Jason) take in the Spiderverse AU? What about the roles of characters like Hypno, Meat Sweats, Warren, Repo, Hueso's brother, Todd, etc?

I'm gonna assume it's for Sunnyverse.

Jeremy and Jason were mercenaries under Kendra, but they didnt go to the field as much as she did. Also something close to the second in command.

Warren is J.J.J., of course, in every verse.

I haven't really thought about the others, but I guess they have roles similar to canon.

How did Lee’s family react to him almost dying and loosing his leg?

Aside from the expected panic and sea of tears during the time it took to get Lee out of the danger zone and stabilize his condition, they banned Mikey from seeing him, blaming it all on him - Mikey also blames himself for it, HARD. It didn't take a genius (among their circle) to put 1 and 1 together and figure out their secret identities. Draxum knows, Lee's whole family knows, it's chaos between them, but deep down Mikey is 100% grateful that Kendra didn't live to tell the world that he's Sunny. It's hell enough to deal with it on a personal level, he didn't need the media to know too.

This accident happened when they were 15 btw. Barely 2 years deep into the Spider business.

Dewey did a 180 with his behavior and became way more aggressive, but to everyone else except Lee. He punched Mikey at least three separate times. And Mikey let him. Hueso was already a helicopter dad and he got way worse, nose-diving into super protective territory.

Lilly, forever Lee's favorite sib, was the only one not blaming Mikey, and even helped them meet in secret while Lee was still at the hospital. Huey, bless him, was totally focused on helping Lee recover and get used to the prosthetic. He was more wary of Mikey than upset at him.

Junior wasn't really understanding anything but with everyone being tense around him, he couldn't help but be scared too. He really liked Mikey and didn't get why they couldn't see him anymore, no one would explain the situation properly to him. "He hurt Lee, he can't be here anymore" didn't sit right with him. Regardless, he got to decorate Lee's prosthetic and started calling him a Cyborg.

It took a long time for the nerves to calm down enough for Lee to plead his case and talk back to his family, about Mikey and their behavior over both of them. They weren't going to stop being friends and there was nothing they could do at that point, and Hueso understood that. The only rules Hueso demanded to be followed was to not bring Mikey into their house and to never again go sidekicking.

Lee broke both rules at once not a month later. Lilly was the only thing between him and La Chancla. He got grounded 'till he enroll in college.
