So far the most surprising part of this story is just how... ordinary Rose was before she started falling in love with the earth. I think everyone assumed that there was something special about her to get her pointed in this direction: a closeness to Pink Diamond maybe, or else a specific purpose that pushed her closer to humanity.

I suppose it’s possible that’s still true and Garnet is just omitting that part of the story, but to all appearances she was just another Quartz, like all the others grown on earth.
