#srsly what is wrong with nyc and why does everything happen there

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED???? BROOOOOO!!!

OMG YES ANOTHER ONE! WHY DOES NOBODY TALK ABOUT IT??

I've thought about this ever since I first watched the rise movie and I've held back bc the last thing I wanted to do was accuse the rise movie being the same film as the 2012 avengers film. Both are my comfort movies. Both are different films.

BUT HAVING SAID THAT

you can not deny the similarities. If I had a nickel for every movie where--

There is an item that can open portals. At one point in the film, it gets taken by the villain.

Main antagonist arrives through portal created by item

Blue/Red character is in conflict with Red/Blue character. One of them is not taking things seriously and/or regularly goes off on their own.

Blue and Red character have an argument that almost results in a physical fight

One of the main characters aids the villain due to mind control

Villain successfully opens portal on top of a very tall tower. Alien reinforcements

Alien threat lays waste to New York City. Hive Mind. US Army is little to no help

Badass hero pose against a destroyed city that signifies hope

Red/Blue character chooses to make the sacrificial play by taking the threat through the portal knowing they won't make it out alive. But at least the world is saved. It's not about them.

A character has to close the portal with the red/blue character trapped on the other side

"I'm gonna die alone, floating in space"

Everyone thinks red/blue character is dead

Red/blue character is alive and lets everyone know they're gonna be ok with a quip

--I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but weird it happened twice.
