“Save the Children UK’s Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, has met children being supported at a hospital in Colombo, as part of her three-day royal tour of Sri Lanka.

To mark 50 years of our work in Sri Lanka, Her Royal Highness visited Save the Children’s national office in Colombo and took part in the tradition of lighting a ceremonial oil lamp symbolising hope and prosperity – the very same lamp she had lit on her previous visit nearly 30 years ago.

In 2023, our teams reached more than 340,000 people including 177,000 children across fifteen districts in the country, ensuring children have nutritious food at school, improved access to protection services and cash grants.”

Thank you to everyone who welcomed Her Royal Highness and Sir Tim Laurence to Kandy and Jaffna today! 🇱🇰

🤝 The Princess joined The Halo Trust, Mines Advisory Group, United Nations Development Programme and International Organisation for Migration at The Halo Trust's Muhamalai Demining and Resettlement Site. Her Royal Highness met members of the community who have resettled on the land following successful mine clearances.

📚 At Jaffna Public Library, The Princess met members of Sri Lanka's Tamil and northern communities and hear how the library is a symbol of northern education and culture.

🙏 Earlier, at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, Her Royal Highness toured the historic Buddhist Temple and took part in a traditional ceremony with the Acting Chief Custodian.
