MOST READ: The London Road store employs 30 people . The middle aisle has been retained for Specialbuys changed every Thursday and Sunday. During re-opening week, the store will be offering a range of kitchen essentials, including a 3.5litre air fryer for £34.99, coffee capsule machine for £49.99 and a portable blender for £12.99. It also has Mamia babycare products, and "a new and improved ‘Food to Go’ section, offering a choice of fresh salads, sandwiches and sushi for busy customers". Store Manager Nermin Ibralic said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves. We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and service they’re used to.” Standing at 1,455 sqm of retail space, the transformation is part of Aldi’s £600m investment into further improving its stores and services across the UK and is based on feedback from more than 50,000 customers. NEWS | Aldi becomes the first UK supermarket to launch ice cream for dogs, just in time for summer!

Aldi has today announced that it will become the first UK supermarket to launch ice cream for dogs, just in time for summer.

With Brits gearing up for BBQs and hot weather expected, it isn’t just humans who will get to enjoy a cold treat in the heat. Our furry friends can now join in with the action too thanks to Aldi’s latest launch – the brand-new Beechdean Doggy Ice Cream! Available in stores nationwide from 16th June for just £2.99 for a pack of four (110ml each).

As part of the rollout, Aldi has partnered with local ice cream vendors across the country to get the ice cream straight into the paws of pups and pooches this weekend. Available in vans across Brighton, Essex and Scotland, this cooling delicacy is sure to get tails wagging! What’s more, dogs with special vests have been enlisted to take part in a ‘dog-livery’ service, helping Aldi dispense its ice cream to furry friends in style.

Available in two delicious flavours of Pea & Vanilla and Apple & Carrot, the ice creams are 100% plant-based and made with real fruit and vegetables to offer a nutritious snack whilst also keeping canine friends cool throughout the warm weather. With pet ownership at an all-time high following the pandemic[1], owners would be barking mad to miss out! 

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “With more of our customers now owning dogs, we’re delighted to launch a nutritious and tasty treat that will help keep dogs cool in the heat. Being the first UK supermarket to launch a dog-friendly ice cream comes just in time for summer as we look forward to the warm weather.

“Teaming up with ice cream vans across the country gives us the chance to get the product straight into owner’s hands, so they can share a special moment alongside a tasty treat outside with their furry friend – we’re confident they won’t be able to keep their paws off it.”

Aldi’s Beechdean Doggy Ice Cream will be available in the Freezer aisle, next to Aldi’s full ice cream range, nationwide from 16th June, but shoppers will need to run and fetch quickly because as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!

The Doggy Ice Cream will be available from ice cream vendors this weekend in Brighton, Essex and Scotland.
