Through Another World- Chapter 1
(please read the prologue for proper context on the characters and events so far! It can be found earlier on my blog)
Anyways here is another part of my msm story! This one focuses on Gwen the Dandidoo’s POV.
This is not an AU! It is set in the canon monster world with my headcanons.
——————————
Gwen paced around their room in circles.
There wasn't anything to do today, was there?
She pulled one curtain aside and looked out of the window across the snow-scattered landscape. The blizzard had ended, and now far more monsters were outside. Faint cheers of happiness could be heard from a group of excited children, sliding clumsily down a hill.
Her sigh was interrupted by a gentle tapping on the door. Taking a deep breath, they grabbed the key in their beak and tossed it onto the ground, peering down at the guest.
It was her sister.
"Good evening, Gwen!"
"Hmf. Whatcha here for?"
"Well, the song is in a few minutes, and I wanted to ask you if you're coming this time,"
The Dandidoo sighed again and tapped the ground with her talons.
"No, thanks,"
Singing hasn't felt the same for her since their time in the Collosingum. Gwen couldn't sing a single note without vines and flowers rising suddenly from her ground, that was how hard she'd trained there.
What did others think? Were they scared? Did they think she was an outcast?
Maybe I shouldn't have said yes to Firecracker's offer. Then things could be different.
"Could we at least go for a walk?" Pandora asked calmly.
Gwen nodded, adjusting the spiked collar around her neck as she left the room and followed Pandora down to the castle floor.
Pandora never really walked, though. She'd jump into the air every few seconds to do some flips and somersaults, then gently glide back down again, smiling as she bounced on and off the ground.
Outside, Gwen could already hear the distant music, the lyrics of the eagerly visiting Werdos.
The snow crunched beneath her talons as she walked away from the town, down a small trail going through the forest outside.
After a few minutes of walking, each step quieter as the two moved away from the singing crowd, Pandora perched on a tree branch right above Gwen's head, making a waterfall of snow tumble down.
"Hey!" Gwen shouted as it hit her head-feathers. "Watch it!"
"Sorry. I just... saw something,"
"What?"
"Some light. In the forest. You know, like the Seam portals we talked about yesterday,"
"Those? Don't be ridiculous. Cold Island is nowhere near the Seam,"
"The chances are low," Pandora explained, gracefully leaping off the branch again. "But never zero,"
Gwen huffed, scraping at the snow with her claws. "There's no way that..."
She paused.
There was a blinding light in front of them, pure white and simply floating in mid air.
It had its own pull. It tugged at her feathers, trying to drag her in.
Pandora gripped tightly onto a nearby tree, fighting against the strengthening pull.
Gwen noticed how much it was pulling her, too. It relentlessly slid her across the snowy ground, and she tried to get hold of a bush, but failed.
Pandora slipped off the branch, the portal's pull now stronger than her talons.
"PANDORA!" Gwen shouted. She began to desperately hum a tune, summoning gigantic dandelions to spring from the ground and wrap around the squealing Tweedle.
She was swept of her feet by the sparking anomaly, and dragged into it suddenly. When it hit her skin, it was sizzling and hot, causing her pain as a tingle shot through their neck, body, and down through to her legs.
As she was fully inside the portal, everything blacked out for a moment. Then, she was shot out into a different place- a clearing in a forest, that looked a lot like Plant Island, but somehow off.
She felt feathers wrapped around them. "Pandora, get off me!"
She rolled the dizzy Tweedle off her back, groaning in pain.
What was that? It was so weird. Am I dreaming?
"Gwen...." Pandora whispered as she shakily rose to her feet.
"What?"
"Where are we?"
Gwen raised her long neck and gazed across the landscape. She was in a soft patch of grass with forest behind her, and in front of her, a cliff with what looked like a town at the bottom.
"I don't know..." Gwen responded, looking around the strange town. In front of them, the sun was beginning to set, highlighting its unusual features. "But I don't think it's the Monster World,"

Plant Island Analysis
this is very random but whatever my singing monsters was my childhood
Context:
My Singing Monsters is a game that was released in 2012, developed by studio Big Blue Bubble. Its basis is that you are in a world made up of islands populated by monsters which all sing a part in what becomes a full song once you breed all of them. The Plant Island is the first island you unlock, and also where the tutorial takes place.
youtube
One of the main reasons why it's symbolic is because of its element. Weirdly enough, the first actual elements you unlock are cold and earth, but the first island is plant. This is because the gameplay can be paralleled to a plant growing; as you breed more and more monsters, the "plant" grows, and as you unlock more elements and islands the "plant" grows more "heads" and, as the islands come to sound more and more full, it "flowers".
Tumblr media
The werdos are special monsters that cannot be bred, and their gimmick is that instead of random sounds or instruments like most other monsters, they sing in comprehensive english, adding lyrics to the islands' songs. The lyrics for plant island reflect the symbolism mentioned above.
Verse 1
"Every monster knows
How the plants grow"
This is not very likely intended, but the first two lines could be a wink to the MSM community being very interactive with each other and specifically using breeding guides, since they "know how the plants grow" (know how to progress in the fastest way).
"And every monster cares"
The MSM fanbase is highly loyal and dedicated, with many of the players having their accounts from an early age. This is most likely due to the nature of the game (it's practically a waiting simulator), since its breeding times are ridiculously long and some monsters, like the seasonals, can only be bred during specific times of the year. Also, the wubboxes take a very long time to activate as they need an egg of each monster in the island (don't get me started on epic wubboxes and breeding epic monsters in general.) The game has steadily continued its development and updates for about 10 years as of now, including a few spin-offs and a prequel.
We can assume that along with the parallel of the game to a plant, there is a parallel with the "monsters" mentioned to the players/fans.
"And they know how they shape and they feed them to keep them alive"
"How they shape" means how the songs are built up. "They feed them" is a double metaphor, as players literally feed monsters to level them up in-game, but also "feeding" the "plant" can refer to spending time or currency in the game to "keep it alive" and progress.
"Let's watch plants grow
Let's watch plants grow"
Let's pay attention as the songs in the game slowly build up to full finished pieces of music.
"Everything here is alive
Everything here is alive"
Verse 2
"They sleep when it gets cold, and the leaves turn"
When the monsters in the game get muted, as in, the player can choose for certain monsters to just not make sounds, they literally sleep, and musical rest symbols float above their heads. The imagery of leaves turning adds to the island's signature theme of nature, but the phrase "to turn over a new leaf" can also be used to mean "to start a new beginning". In this case this has dual meaning; the start of a second verse, and the start of a new island. The cold island, which is directly mentioned in the beginning of the second verse, is the second island which a player unlocks in my singing monsters.
The beginning of a new verse this way can signify that a new verse = a new island, which further proves the symbolism of plant island as the progression of the game itself.
"They turn brown and they turn gold"
Brown is the color most often associated with the ground, hence its mention after cold. Chronologically, earth island is not the next island unlocked after cold, however the next referenced island is gold island, which is chronologically after earth. The gold island is an island in which you can teleport monsters that reach level 15 or more. Trivia: it was also supposed to be the last island when the game was first created. The leaves (aka islands) turn brown, then they turn gold.
"They need sunlight and water and earth and the air to keep them alive
That's how plants grow
That's how plants grow"
You need to unlock all the natural islands to "keep the game alive", aka progress.
"Everything here is alive"
x4
Verse 3
"A note becomes a chord becomes a phrase becomes a melody
And a note becomes a monster"
This is one of the most straightforward lyrics, as it directly describes the gameplay. The more monsters inhabit the island, the more complete the songs sound. The monsters harmonise with and complement eachother. There is also a possible reference to tribal island here, which is a special island. When a tribe is created, one user can only place one monster in the island. The goal is for enough people to join to complete the island, and after a few monsters have joined, they awaken Kayna, who is the single-elemental monster of fire, which is introduced to the franchise with the launch of tribal island.
"A note becomes a monster".
"Everything here is alive
Everything here is alive"
Verse 4
Let's take the next few lyrics one by one.
"You plant a seed, it settles in"
You start a new island and buy the first few (single element) monsters.
"And then it bursts, then it splits and makes a twin"
Could refer to breeding new monsters, or unlocking a new island.
"Then there are more"
There are more monsters, and eventually, more islands.
"Look across the landscape, and you'll find
It's just a bunch of plants"
It's just a bunch of monsters, and just a bunch of islands.
As the islands slowly but surely build up, you can take a step back and just notice the sheer amount of monsters that are on the island. Due to the long breeding times, it can feel like you're not making progress, so players are often surprised when the island is finally finished.
After playing for a very long time, players tend to focus on the unnatural elements or new islands, forgetting the ones they first started with. Looking back, they can see the huge amount of progress made. In a way, this is definitely what starting a garden can feel like.
Thus, the parallel to the progression of the gameplay in my singing monsters and a plant growing makes sense.

My Singing Monsters Diamond Farming Guide
Tumblr media
Welcome to our My Singing Monsters Diamond Farming Guide. A true guide on how to get a lot of gems fast. We know that there are people who have a hard time finishing the My Singing Monsters game. If you are one of those who find it difficult to finish the game, let's take you to our My Singing Monsters guide. #MySingingMonsters
My Singing Monsters Diamond Farming Guide
A true guide on how to get a lot of gems fast. Mines (Mini-Mines and Maximum-Mines) Total: 133/week (175 with IRL purchases)
Tumblr media
The Mini-Mine can be bought on 19 islands: - Plant & Mirror Plant - Cold & Mirror Cold - Air & Mirror Air - Water & Mirror Water - Earth & Mirror Earth - Fire Haven - Fire Oasis - Light - Psychic - Faerie - Bone - Shugabush - Ethereal - Magical Sanctum On Plant and Mirror Plant, the Mini-Mine costs 500,000 coins. On every other island, it costs 10 diamonds. The Mini-Mine makes 1 diamond every 24 hours, which will get you 14 diamonds per day, or 19 diamonds per day if you have every Mirror Island. On Plant and Mirror Plant, you can upgrade to the Maximum-Mine for 20 diamonds, or 40 diamonds if you're buying straight from the Marketplace, after making a purchase with real money. This will double the amount made and halve the time it takes, letting you get a total of 25 diamonds per day. My Singing Monsters Diamond Farming - Daily Login Total: 3-28 diamonds/week
Tumblr media
This one is pretty simple: log in every day to get rewards! The daily login bonus runs on 10-day cycle, with 3 diamonds on the 3rd day and 25 diamonds on the 10th day. After the 10th day, the bonuses reset. Depending on the week, if you log in every day (which you should be doing anyway), you will get either 3, 25, or 28 diamonds in a week. Plus, you'll get relics and keys along the way that you can use to get more monsters! Spin Wheel Total: 0-1000+ diamonds/week
Tumblr media
Spin a wheel to get a prize. You can either get a spin once every day for free, or you can buy a spin for 2 diamonds. Every time you spin, there will be a chance to get diamonds, and you can get up to 1000! However, the likelihood of this happening is very small. I don't recommend buying spins, so just use the spins you get for free. The amount you get every time can change, but on average with the odds, you will get 5-6 diamonds per week. Memory Game Total: 0-1000+ diamonds/week
Tumblr media
The memory game is very simple, match the images to get prizes. The longer you play, the higher value the prize. There is a choice make when you play this, either: A. Play only the first level to get the chance to get 2 diamonds, or B. Play all levels to get larger prizes, including the chance to get 1000 diamonds This is all up to personal choice, but I usually play only the first level, since the game is very time consuming. You can get cooler rewards for playing longer though, like shards and keys. Wublin Island (Zynth Farm) Total: 214 diamonds/week Wublins have a 7% chance to produce 2 diamonds every time they're available for collection. To maximize the amount you get, you'll need to get a lot, with the recommended Wublin to get is Zynth. Below is a diagram of where to place the Wublins, with green, blue, and brown spots being where to place Zynths, orange spots to place any 3x3 Monster, ideally Brump, and white spots being where to avoid placing anything.
Tumblr media
Tribal Island Total: 20 diamonds/week
Tumblr media
On Tribal Island, you can form a large group of players to make a song and get diamonds. The best way to max the diamond count of Tribal Island is to get 30 members that feed their monster to level 50 every week. To feed your monster to level 50, with the recommended usage of Shards, it will cost you 45,300 shards every week. This can be easily achieved if you have a full Wublin farm, or 12 monsters on Ethereal Island. Along the way, you will also get Starpower, which you can use to get rare monsters or decorations to increase the happiness of Werdos and Wubboxes. My Singing Monsters Diamond Farming - Celestial Island Total: 118 diamonds/week
Tumblr media
ONLY FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS Celestial Island acts like Wublin Island, except for the fact that you can only get 5 of each Monster. Also unlike Wublin Island, each Celestial is VERY HARD to get, so this is only if you have absolutely nothing else to do. It also takes a significant time to break even, with the shortest time being 134 days. Read the full article
