having vague thoughts about E3 and the current state of AAA game development in general..

like yeah direct promotions have had more of an impact than Big Events for me, and the main thing I'd want to see out of E3 are trailers for new games or the conversations that follow online - but a few points on that

I can just as easily look up “new games for [platform] [year]” on youtube

Something about the way AAA games are built these days makes me get bored of them ⅔ of the way through, if I even make it that far, on top of them charging more for less content and hiding away the rest behind multiple DLC packs

I've mostly been buying indies the past few years and have gotten a lot of fun out of them; they continue to deliver a nearly unrivaled experience of fun gameplay mechanics and interesting/emotional stories at a ridiculously low cost

I also have emulators for going back and playing old games I really liked so I'm not exactly desperate for new games

and idk!! weird to see E3 officially ending but I also think the landscape is very different these days including the game companies themselves. I'm not a game dev so I can't rly speak to what the change has looked like on their end over the past 10-20 yrs.

#i kind of wanna read or watch an interview with someone who's done game development for Years #and see them talk about What's Changed bc on god these AAA games can be so different from each other #but still somehow sm of them get kind of boring and repetitive FAST #i can def fw some games. I haven't played all of resident evil but they've always been fun. the only one I've played but not beat #is RE zero. also metroid - they know what they're doing over there. i know atlus said they're not making another mainline etrian odyssey game but if somehow they did i would love a wait button like in labyrinth of refrain/galleria

this is an excuse to go off about silent hill if youd like (im considering playing it)

(i let out the most devilish laugh upon reading this LOL)

my god i don't even know where to begin. i'll just talk about SH1 and SH2 bcuz 1. those are the two games im more familiar with (i've watched playthroughs of all games but it's been several years so my knowledge has rotted away lol) and 2. if i had to tell someone where to start playing, i'd say either SH1 or SH2, depending on how much you can tolerate old-school game jankiness (SH1 is definitely rough around the edges, but im enjoying it so far)

even though my SH posting has spoiled a lot of details, i'll try to avoid talking about the bigger spoilers here in case other ppl care about that

silent hill 1

(huge heads up: you can only control harry via tank controls. this is one of the major factors as to why a lot of players skip SH1 since tank controls are a very archaic way to control a character in a 3D space. but honestly with some time and practice, you'll learn to get used to it and maybe even appreciate the way how the game handles certain fixed camera angles to create a sense of unease)

SH1 is about a widowed father, harry mason, going on a quest to save his daughter, cheryl, after crashing the car off a cliff and into the town of silent hill, which is where cheryl wanted to go for a vacation. silent hill has been warped by a supernatural force and you must go through what's essentially a haunted version of the town and fight through monsters to find cheryl. idk how to explain more than that without spoiling the good parts, so just take my word that the reasoning behind the town's supernatural stuff is actually super tragic

there are multiple endings: good, good+, bad, bad+, and UFO. the endings are determined by which side quests you do (or lack of any side quests for the bad ending). you can only get the UFO ending after beating the game at least one time and playing on "new fear" (this is basically new game+), so if you don't have the time for that, you can just look it up on yt

silent hill 2

taking place after the events of SH1, SH2 is about a widowed man, james sunderland, who travels to silent hill after receiving a letter from his late wife, mary, where she tells him to meet her there. the place still has supernatural forces, but now it seems to be tailored to whoever is drawn to silent hill, as shown with the other characters featured in SH2. as james continues his search, both he and you gradually learn that there's something that james is repressing, and the town is trying to tear it out of him to make him face it head-on

idk if you know the ending of SH2 already, but in case you don't, the buildup to the big reveal is honestly pretty fucking insane (it's the one thing i wish i had no knowledge about so that i can truly play through the story blind), and it's why SH2 is usually regarded as the most popular in the series

again SH2 has multiple endings: leave, maria, in water, rebirth, dog, and UFO. instead of side quests, the first three endings are determined by certain actions you take throughout the game, they can either add or deduct points from an ending point system, and your final count will determine the ending. rebirth, dog, and UFO can only be unlocked after beating the game at least once and playing in new game+

EDIT: oh my god i forgot to mention something crucial, if you're gonna play SH2, do NOT play the HD collection version, it's just a straight up downgrade. get the enhanced edition for PC if your computer can handle it, or just emulate it for ps2

1. pros of a theoretical tellius remake:

- shiny hd i guess?

- best fe story in general gets more spotlight

- radiant dawn gets proper supports??? maybe?????? spare character interaction ma’am?????????

2. cons of a theoretical tellius remake:

- 3h fans get their hands on tellius and start discoursing about obvious shit like there’s no tomorrow oh god oh fuck

- ike and soren get no homo’d

- character/portrait design in general would probably be redrawn to match 3h’s which is awful considering how good the originals are

- which also means someone would inevitably be given the green light to make the women’s designs horny

- heather probably gets no homo’d by nephenee a la ingrid's disgusted ‘back off’ to dorothea

- heather in general lmao ur telling me they’d let a woman go “men? ew. girls? YEAH!!!” like heather does and let her live in peace without doing some fuckshittery about it? just look at soleil lol

- devdan gets more racist treatment

- oh god oliver i don’t wanna think abt oliver

- voice acting in the few cutscenes was so bland in the originals but full voiceovers would b either a hit or a miss no in-between!! tellius’s pacing and emotional impact aren’t something you can half-ass with stuff like 3h’s seconds-long pauses between dialogues or voice actors who aren’t given proper emotional direction re: their lines

- oh god oh fuck micaiah would get butchered by both intsys and 3h fans

- oh god they’d go all-in on sothe/micaiah despite her literally raising him

- they went full persona dating sim w 3h and ppl lapped it up that is not what tellius is and never will be and if they tried it then hooooo boi

2020 was the year I finally got back into making gifs (which I had stopped doing a few years ago). Back in the day when the Bollywood fandom was in full swing, I used to be an active content creator but I lost my mojo after everyone left. After finding HD videos and torrenting films (also Tumblr increasing the size limit), I feel happy and comfortable doing so again. I love seeing everyone’s work on this site, especially those who gif unique content.

First creation and most recent creation of 2020: The first set I made was back in May of Divya Bharti. My most recent creation was published today.

One of your favorite creations from 2020: Definitely this one. Juhi looked simply breathtaking and I had a lot of fun making this set. And of course, all my aesthetic sets.

A creation you’re really proud of: It will always be this one. Also my witchy!Baekhyun AU, SRK Rainbow, and SRK/Juhi film logos.

A new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: Definitely making lots of big, vibrant gifs. As for new styles, my soundtrack series.

Your favorite coloring: @singinprincess​ ELKDTAL Smile PSD and @crazybollywood​ Juhi Chawla PSD. I use these two a lot and they work beautifully especially with 90s films. I’m a huge fan of vibrant coloring.

Your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: The Duplicate Text Posts lmao. But I love this set and I’m super proud of it.

A creation you think deserved more notes: This one because every single song is a bop. My SRK Vampire moodboard because it was pretty unique and original. And finally, this one because these two are hot as hell.

I like everything big/crisp/hd so I normally go for 1080p immediately or 720p if I’m desperate and there’s no good HQ copy. I’d say 480p is my limit though lmao. 

28. Have you ever posted a set, regretted it and immediately deleted it

I can’t remember honestly. 

39. How often, if ever, do you delete old sets that you don’t like anymore

Not really that often. Mostly because I like to see my progression and sometimes when I look at my older sets, there are aspects of it that I like so I tend to salvage/incorporate those elements into newer sets (see: the remakes of endlessfaves sets I make) and also I am lazy to also. 

Plus I bet that some of my older stuff might have/might be someone’s new favourite thing and so I tend not to delete stuff.

It's interesting how Persona 2 (Eternal Punishment, at least) feels more like a "SMT game" than a "Persona game" It's a much darker game, the personae are actual demons that can manifest in the physical world normally, and there's like, no slice of life moments or social links that have kind of become a big part of Persona is known for Like 10 hours into P2 and so far I've had to chase down a serial killer, save children from getting burned down in a building, and fight the Taiwanese mafia. Someone give these adults a break lmao The main difference is probably the slice of life I'd say? They slow down the pacing of the story and allow the player to take a breath and get some ramen with their pals, which makes you get attached to them even more. The downside is that I think this makes it so if you want more in depth development it'll be optional? Like I really appreciate how the cast of P2 seems actually invested in what's happening and they have their own motivations for going along with Maya, whereas in P4 it kinda feels like...Teddie and Naoto are the only ones with motivations beyond "I can't let this slide! Murder is bad!" Which isn't a bad thing, but it feels like they're being pulled along by the MC. At least in P5 they're all shown to be competent without him, which I really liked. ...Actually, it's just P4 that feels like that now that I think about it, cause everybody in P3 also had their own motivations and their own growth that was tied to the story lol But yeah Persona 2 is pretty cool where's my HD remake Atlus hmmmmm???
