41 New Items- Hook Set

After over a month of work- I want to introduce a huge project of object that slot onto hooks for a more customizable build experience. The objects use the same slotting system as the hanging clothes. Please be aware of some of the notes below. All items can be found by either searching [somecreative] or hook.

Five wall hooks- Please note that not every object looks right slotted into each hook. Some hooks only really work with objects that have handles so the mesh doesn't peek through. Also the hook with a shelf may lead to some objects slotting into the deco slots, just move your mouse down and it should slot into the right place.

Menorah Lighting Poses

8 Poses with one Sim lighting a candle for each night of Hanukkah. Pretty simple, but since there’s not really any Hanukkah poses that I could find I figured simple was a good start. Download + more info under the cut.

Credits: Obviously this pose pack couldn’t be possible without @somecreativecc​’s CC and I thank them for that. I tried to use EA’s menorah but I struggled with getting the mesh and candles to work (EA made those candles veeery short). 

Set Up: The pose uses a hallway table, and pretty much any hallway table should do. Place the menorah in the center of the table and the teleporter right on top of it.

1. What’s your favourite sims death?

I'd say the cow plant one? Most of my sims die of old age...

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

Mostly maxis match, but I do have a few pieces that lean more on the alpha side, also I use alpha makeup and jewellery.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

I used to use the thin reward potion, but that would make them a bit too thin for my liking, so now the sims who actually would care about their appearance and weight (like Auretta) exercise to lose weight, the ones who aren't the exercising type (like David) don't.

4. Do you use move objects?

Hahahahahaha. If you've been here for a while you know i HATE moveobjects with a passion. So no, I do not use it. Except for somecreativecc's collection displays because I need those too much.

5. Favorite mod?

Relationship and pregnancy overhaul. I can't play without it anymore.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

Either Get Together or Get to Work. I don't remember.

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?

...Neither, I say "life mode" because the French for it translates to that.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?

Mavis Sane, of course. Honorable mention to the queen herself, Auretta Cornwell, and to her sibling Farren Cornwell.

9. Have you made a simself?

Yes, but I never posted her here I think? But she exists and she looks pretty accurate if I dare say so!

10. What sim traits do you give yourself?

Family oriented, cat lover, creative.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color?

The OG black for some reason. It's the one I use the most.

12. Favorite EA hair?

That snowy escape straight short hair everyone made a billion edits of.

13. Favorite life stage?

Toddlers, toddlers, toddlers!

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

Both! But I play more than I build.

15. Are you a CC creator?

Yes!

16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad?

I do! I love talking about sims and meeting new people so that helps!

17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4) 

Definitely 4, though 2 was my childhood.

18. Do you have any sims merch?

I do actually! two tote bags, one with Grim on it, and one that says 100 baby challenge!

19. Do you have a YouTube for sims?

No. Well yes but there's nothing on it. I think my computer would die if I tried to record my sims game while playing.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? 

I'm not sure it has, what changed is the cc I use, like skin overlays and makeup and such.

21. What’s your Origin ID?

22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? 

I can't pick just one... I love laeska's hair, trillyke's clothes, jius's shoes, praline's makeup... and so many others!

23. How long have you had a simblr?

since 2018 I believe.

24. How do you edit your pictures?

I run a photoshop action and crop them. That's it, no reshade here.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

Well, I'm not missing that many, only Strangerville, Batuu and Bowling stuff. Out of the three, I'm most likely to get Strangerville, but I'd get some kits first (book nook, greenhouse, pastel pop, everyday clutter)

26. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far?

Either Seasons or Cats & Dogs. I'd say C&D cause it comes with a world and seasons doesn't.

We've hit Fall Thursday in the Chill Valicer Save today, and you know what that means -- Harvestfest! And they had a FREAKING BUSY Harvestfest, let me tell you -- if I counted correctly, this update has NINETY PICTURES in total. Yeah, uh, it's actually a pretty good thing that we can upload more than ten to a post now, isn't it? O.O

Anyway! Morning started off pretty tamely and typically -- Smiler, freshly retraited after the end of the last episode, took Shadow out on a nice walk, while Alice went upstairs to gather inspiration from their fish and then start a new book (a motivational book called "Solving Your Problems With Trains" ;) ) and Victor woke from sleep and got right on studying his Nimble Mind and Emotional Stability potion tomes. I do think it's very cool how higher-level spellcasters have the books float in front of them like that. . . Anyway, Victor discovered three things from all that reading -- the recipe for the Nimble Mind potion (requires parsley and a spotted dirt frog -- figured even if Smiler didn't have that in their collection, they could breed it eventually); the recipe for the Emotional Stability potion (requires a potato and obtanium -- again, even if Alice didn't have that in her metal collection, she could dig it up eventually); and --

The fact that the fossil display shelves made by @somecreativecc ALSO FUNCTION AS A BOOKCASE. O.o Uh, SomeCreative, was -- was that intentional? I'm not COMPLAINING, I just find it a touch bizarre? *shakehead* So, yeah, Victor's tomes went in there with the fossils once he was done with them and gotten his magical "free samples." *shrug* Like I said, not complaining, just -- slightly confused.

Now -- while all this was going on, I was also checking both Shadow and Kelly for signs of illness, because, as you may remember last time, I found a couple of random puddles of sick around the place and wasn't sure which pet was producing them. Shadow seemed fine on her walk, and when I looked around the house again, I found another puddle of sick by one of Kelly's scratching posts. This really seemed to indicate that it was poor Kelly who wasn't feeling well --

A hypothesis confirmed when she came over to hang out with Alice near her desk while she wrote, and another puddle of sick appeared right next to her. I had Victor use Scruberoo to clean up all the sick, then go pamper Kelly with a little brushing as I tried to determine what was wrong. I mean, after all, the cat didn't LOOK ill -- Sim illnesses in both pets and people tend to be pretty visible! The only other explanation I could think of was poor Kelly had hairballs, which -- would be very impressive on a hairless cat like herself! I made a note to get her to the vet later, and she eventually ran off to do more cat things. Leaving more sick behind her. *sigh*

With THAT mystery solved, and Victor's potions learned, I decided it was time for him to get back on fabricating stuff -- namely because I wanted to do some more eco upgrades around the house. So he headed down to the barn, where -- after Repairioing all the broken wind turbines and water collectors, and setting out some sacred candles to help with his still-broken "Fear Of The Dark" moodlet and the scary noises around the house -- he proceeded to make another eco upgrade part. (Really wish I could made those in BULK, but what are you gonna do.) I then sent him to the garden to do the usual tending -- weeding, watering, fertilizing -- as Alice continued working on her book (maxing out the Writing skill in the process! Go Alice!) and Smiler came back from their walk with Shadow. The doggo went to hang with Victor in the greenhouse as he started harvesting, while Smiler entertained Kelly and Alice finished up her book, submitted it to the literary digest (because obviously this guide on Bumby murder deserves it), then went to clean the chicken coop and entertain the cowplant -- which, since we seem to be keeping it for the time being, I decided to name "Toothy." I mean, if the large drooling maw full of sharp teeth fits...

We cannot embark on our third gen's adventure without some closure on gen 2 (even though I don't want to leave Jade, no no no)...

This is a great time to take a look at Jade’s progress for her generation goals:

Goals:

Max the herbalism skill (OR) -> COMPLETED

Max the gardening skill -> COMPLETED

Live in an Off the Grid lot -> COMPLETED

Have no more than one pregnancy per romantic partner, and never marry or invite a partner to live with you (however you make take custody of as many of your offspring as you like) -> COMPLETED (as in: Kanaloa will not be moving in with her)

Earn the Super Green Thumb trait from thriving in the outdoors -> COMPLETED

Complete the frog collection -> COMPLETED

Because I play on a longer lifespan (I kind of doubled the ‘normal’ lifespan with MCCC, the ‘long’ lifespan just is a bit too long ;-) ), I have added some extra goals for myself:

Complete aspiration ‘Freelance Botanist’ -> COMPLETED

Max the flower arranging skill -> in progress, but I’m screwing myself over with a harder skill progression setting in MCCC

Max the guitar and/or singing skill (to honour her mother) -> also in progress, same problem…

Get a distinguished Biology degree -> COMPLETED

All toddlers max out all toddler skills (to get the ‘Top Notch Toddler’ trait) -> COMPLETED

All teens max out the scouting career -> COMPLETED

Offspring roll: 1 -> COMPLETED!

So all in all, I maybe took a little too much on with my additional skill goals, but Jade is pretty accomplished nonetheless :-) I'm so proud of her!

I’m so absolutely in love with the American Girl brand and have been a collector for years now. Samantha is my fave with Felicity a close second - we have the same birthday woot! -->It was finally back to the store! Where once again they all had to wait outside while I fiddled with the layout. XD At least this time it wasn't thunderstorming! Let me take you through all the changes I made --

A. As you can see, the major change I made was to replace all of the double-sided shelves with single-sided ones on either side of a large half-wall (with a glass half-wall trim on top to stop Sims trying to put plates or other objects up there) -- I was having some trouble getting everything to face the right way on the double-sided shelves, and I genuinely do believe this looks better. More like what you might actually SEE in a grocery store.

B. I also reduced the number of shelves overall slightly by rearranging the first "produce" aisle -- now when you walk in, you have Brazen Lotus's produce stands on one side, and the more traditional Get To Work refrigerated displays on the other holding various oversized crops on the other! Fewer slots to fill, and it means all the fruit and veg aren't bunched up together right next to the door.

C. I also added another refrigerated display next to the meat section -- this one is for fish, with Brazen Lotus's "Iced Fish Retail Fridge" (which requires her mod to allow fish and herbs to be placed in a retail fridge) in the bottom section! (I tried putting it on a counter, but it looked kinda weird and wouldn't slot correctly -- and then I discovered it fit near-perfectly into the bottom of the regular refrigerated display and went with that! It doesn't fit so nicely into the top bit, so fresh fish will be placed there to be bought directly.)

D. Along with that, I added the fossil displays from @somecreativecc as "endcaps" for the aisles, as the perfume bottles Victor can make from Simsonian Library's "Perfumery" mod fit on them, and they were the best-looking shelves I had for the purpose. *shrug* If anyone can suggest anything better, please let me know!

E. I also started trying out some "color-coding" on the SrslySims consignment shelves to try and see at a glance what should go where -- like, the shelf with Smiler's synthetic food tablets and herbalism potions from Simsonian Library's "Apothecary" mod is white because that's the "pharmacy" section, and the shelf with the canned green beans and green peas is bright green to represent "veggies."

F. Oh, and you may notice that I've started spacing out the various items on each individual shelf a lot more, so I'm not trying to cram multiple products onto one single shelf in any particular display and wondering how I'm going to fill the others. . .now, one display can hold a shelf of canned green beans, a shelf of canned green peas, and the boxed versions of said products on the bottom. Makes my life easier and makes filling up this grocery store a hell of a lot faster!

-->Okay -- once THAT was all done, it was time for the gang to spread out and get to work! And everybody had their specific jobs:

Smiler: Since we now had a fish fridge, I sent Smiler down to the fishing spot behind the store to angle for some big catches to fill it up! They managed to land a pufferfish and a tilapia to display above the fridge, and a betta to put in it -- it's a start!

Alice: Her thing today was bulk food processing and canning -- specifically, I had her make some more canned green beans and green peas to fill in a couple of gaps on the shelves, then move onto making jars of meat substitute for the discerning vegetarians who may come by. Gotta have something for everyone, after all! :)

Victor: Victor started out making perfumes, in "Focused" (bluebell) and "Playful" (daisy) scents, which (along with another bottle of the deodorizing scent) got him to level 2 of the Perfumery skill and allowed him to make "Happy" and "Energizing" scents if he so wished. However, his REAL job was to head upstairs and start Copypastoing everything that could be Copypastoed. XD Because while I DO actually want them to make some of the stuff they sell themselves, I am not above using Victor's magic to make the process easier on them and me. Victor's such a skilled spellcaster now that he's basically in no danger of the spell failing, even when he gets to a pretty heavily charged state -- and hey, I found out during this Copypasto spree that he can in fact copy the plates of raw meat Alice brings back from her hunts! So THAT is going to be freaking handy! :D
