so when is the cutoff for 4th gen kpop gonna be

#i really think it should have been this year #like ik there isn’t a real ‘set date’ for the start and end of eras and sometimes they are contested within fandoms #but i truly think 1st gen is pre 2003 ish (should be later imo but i’m accounting for tvxq) #and then 2nd gen ends in 2012/2013 (although obv exo is 3rd gen to me) #and 3rd gen ends around 2017/2018 #and that’s me accounting for kpop cultural shifts and the big 3 groups debuts #so like i think 2022 should have been the cutoff bc that’s like 4-5 years of a gen and the market is soooo saturated #but i do feel a distinct difference between ive and lesserafim and newjeans and groups that debuted in 2021 like we need a new gen ? #i think nmixx should have been the cutoff. i’ve noticed groups debuting after them are completely doing a 180 with music style than 4th gen #but hey maybe that’s just me. plus like who even decides??? when the gen is done?? do we all just come to a collective agreement? #i don’t remember anything significant during the 3rd to 4th gen switch #marie.txt #me reading this again and realizing i’m making no sense both literally and grammatically like go to bed marie
