Hi there! i wanted to hear your thoughts about somthing .during mokingjay, a quations that returns all the time is would you kill your loved ones in situations where living is worst then death. and we hear the hanging tree again and agin, and like it's somthing that i remeber i didnt quite get when i was younger but tbh even now i dont fully get it. On one hand the song is somthing that katniss allignes with her fathre. But also by the end of book, with how much katniss discuss this, she dosent shoot gale. Which yeah she didnt hear him.but i think it's very singnificnet that even so katniss contmplints this subject at the end she dosent do it, even if it's no eintirlly her choice. Also it's kinda wierd she didnt understand what he wanted. They agreed it's her job to do it and peacekeeprs are taking him. It's very bizzare that when it comes to it she's lost at what to do. it's somthing im entierlly sure how to read ( if you answer to this please dont mention bosas cause i havent read it yet)

i honestly don’t have a great answer here… i think it’s in part a conflict of your ideological goals and your actual feelings. like sure she says she’d kill gale but when it comes down to it, can she really do it? it’s a harder choice than she wants it to be.

there’s also the fact that she doesn’t hear him, like you said. my thought there is that despite everything, it’s still not her first instinct to kill her friend, and the hesitation is crucial to katniss’ character. in all the books, she only shoots two people point blank (to my memory) — marvel and the woman in the capitol. and both those situations leave her wracked with guilt. (also this is another parallel in thg and mockingjay — i bet if you checked the chapters those two moments happen as mirrors of each other, honestly.) katniss doesn’t want to be someone where killing is her first instinct — so when she can’t hear gale, it doesn’t even occur to her that he might be asking her to do that until afterwards. that’s one angle, i suppose.

but let’s look at the passage in question:

Gale meets my eyes, mouths something at me I can't make out. I don't know what to do. I can't leave him, but I can't reach him either. His lips move again. I shake my head to indicate my confusion. At any minute, they'll realize who they've captured. The Peacekeepers are hauling him inside now. "Go!" I hear him yell.

I turn and run away from the pod. All alone now. Gale a prisoner. Cressida and Pollux could be dead ten times over. And Peeta? I haven't laid eyes on him since we left Tigris's. I hold on to the idea that he may have gone back. Felt an attack coming and retreated to the cellar while he still had control. Realized there was no need for a diversion when the Capitol has provided so many. No need to be bait and have to take the nightlock - the nightlock! Gale doesn't have any. And as for all that talk of detonating his arrows by hand, he'll never get the chance. The first thing the Peacekeepers will do is to strip him of his weapons.

I fall into a doorway, tears stinging my eyes. Shoot me. That's what he was mouthing. I was supposed to shoot him! That was my job. That was our unspoken promise, all of us, to one another. And I didn't do it and now the Capitol will kill him or torture him or hijack him or - the cracks begin opening inside me, threatening to break me into pieces. I have only one hope. That the Capitol falls, lays down its arms, and gives up its prisoners before they hurt Gale. But I can't see that happening while Snow's alive.

to me, “i can’t reach him, but i can’t leave him either” is a really interesting line here. because again, she doesn’t even consider killing him as a possibility until she realizes that’s what he had asked. the only two things she considers as potential outcomes to this situation are helping him or leaving him, and she refuses to do the latter. even though she’s been in two different hunger games, her first instinct isn’t to leave and save herself, it’s to stay with him. people like to say that katniss’ instinct is survival — but here we can see that often, her first instinct is actually to help other people. which is a powerful character beat.

i also think the passage is interesting in that it ends with that line “i have only one hope” — to my point from earlier about katniss still managing to hold onto a lot of hope despite everything, i think it’s an interesting line in context that despite everything crumbling around her she still identifies something to hope for. in that moment, you could say she’s learned a lot more from peeta than she might even know herself; that in the hardest moments, sometimes hope is the only thing left to hold onto. or, interestingly, in the words of snow… that hope is the only thing stronger than fear ;)

but honestly i don’t really know. curious to hear anyone else’s thoughts.

my mc is EVIL. the moment he got pulled into the devildom its was immediate plots on how to one up this oddly handsome kidnapper. admitted he understood he wasnt actually a kidnapper by week 2 but still plays that card when putting a bucket of water on top of lucis cracked door. i think lulus conflicted on him... on one hand luci likes the rebels (mamon...) but on the other hand he Really dosent love him poking him when bored.

also the moment he got assigned to mams to be babysat you better BELIEVE he was trying to sneak off. wouldnt be surprised if my mc wasnt allowed to walk around without one of those toddler leash backpacks. Probably has bitten mams more than once and told mams that he has rabies... probably friends regardless tho mams just as chaotic.

i dont think him and levi really even meet. realistically levis holed up and my MCs not the type to start convos with Kidnappers people who dont start convos, and by time he figures he can chill its wayyy too awkward to try and be buddy buddy. missed connection via social awkwardness. Probably at least nod at eachother in the hallways though.

satan.. ok hes my fave so i want to say dating and bffs forever. being unbias is hard so i wont be <3 both are aloof and outside of causing problems, quiet. so between the terrorizing of luci and being able to sit in the same room four hours doing their own things without speaking and calling it bonding, they get along pretty well. Also my MC was raised with cats so he unintentionally does the slow blinky and headbutts . you know itd kill him. fostering kittens together saying its good looking for the exchange program but "secretly" just wanting to coo over kittens

azzy... it can go one of two ways. theyre either IN LOVE with eachother or REALLY want eachother dead. both are flamboyant. both can and will rock heels. both probably will kill a man in the name of love. makeup nails ect... they all share same interests even if only in passing, any hobby they share. now we know azzy loves himself, but it could wayyy easily be seen as trying to steal eachothers things and getting mad jealous over it. literal catfight. hard to say.

beel.. distant but still closer than levi. my MC isnt really a food person, nor a working out person. HOWEVER he does appreciate someone he can sit quietly next to. Also my mc would love to buy him snacks. always fun to pick up snacks when you rember someone likes that snack. might go on a jog with him once or twice and then 10 mins in act like hes dying just to be carried by the hunk tho.

belphie. ok . look assuming theres a proper redemption for the murder thing. like not just jumping from i hate you to i love you. theyd probably get along... both youngest... both EVIL... and again mc loves a good quiet time with someone. might get annoyed at all his sleeping,,, my mc isnt that energetic no, but still wants to like. do things. theres only so many times you can handle nap dates. also the "im the youngest baby me" rivalry would be something to behold.

i could do dateables too but we will be here All day.

anyways this is all to say in NB he's immediately abandoning the babysitting job to go do whatever he wants. once again luci has to bring out the toddler leash. also hes just an actual demon j with the soul of an angel. fills the role of mechivious non violent demon perfectly hence why no one ever stopped to ask if this dude that fell out of a hole in the middle of a tour is really a demon.

I think my favorite thing in the original Obey Me was finding out that (if it's true, I never ended up redoing my choices to see a difference), you would gain more intimacy points with Lucifer for choosing rebellious responses, versus obedient or neutral responses?? That was so funny to me. So you mentioning that Luci is conflicted on how to feel about your MC totally tracks. Like he doesn't really want some goody two shoes, but also he has his hands full with his brothers already, does there have to be another troublesome person to deal with?

My MC was also raised with cats and is a cat person, so I totally get the bonding with Satan very well. I love the idea of terrorizing Lucifer together with Satan haha

I feel like he’s always cold, since he’s a ghost and because he drowned he would always be freezing. So I would never wanna stop touching him and giving him my warmth

I think he’d watch you through the phone, NOT looking into your files cause that’s a given, just watch you through the camera

I think that because of his trauma he wouldn’t be trusting, he might lie about it to your face but it would take a lot to earn his trust

Probably even more time to gain his affection, but I feel like he’s constantly conflicted between not wanting to be vulnerable and being touch starved

I think he’s ashamed of his tears, and dosent like anybody to see him when he cries because he dosent like feeling watched

I think he has an aversion to water but in large bodies, showering might be a struggle but slowly he could do it

Violent. I grew up learning how to fight and dealing with my father. Of course it wasent all bad. Mandy was there with me through everything. Even stopped our dad from beating the shit out of me when he found a kid kissing me. Was the first kiss I had from a guy.

My dad beating the hell out of a guy that didnt pay up for a service he had done for him.

How much schooling have you had?

Plenty. I dropped out but schools not for everyone.

My father of course. Mother left when we were young so everything I know Is from him. The good and the bad but that's what makes us Milkovitch.

Never met my mother so nothing going on there. With Dad? Our relationship has never been the best. Mandy our relationship is amazing. I help her she helps me...Milkovitchs stay close to family. Through thick or thin.

Alive. Living the Milkovitch way is dangerous. All I want to to stay breathing.

Beating up the biggers kids, proving I wasent weak. Spending time with my sister.

Fuck no. Never been the popular type. Friends? Not really I beat kids up more than anything. They all feared me.

I was 13 and was a girl... dont remember her name. My dad told me I needed to show interest in girls so I kissed her. Made him happy and got him off my back.

My father much to my distaste but hes all I've got beside my sister with family.

Does being a pimp count? I havent killed anyone yet. Came close many times with a gun pointed at them or me beating the fuck out of them.

When my father was beating the shit out of me when he saw a guy kiss me. The other got the worst of it.

Not being such a pussy about who I am. I'd change that fact because if I did I could be with who I wanted. Yeah my dad would be coming after me but at least I'd be worth it for Caleb.

Not many good ones but meeting Caleb for the first time was... it changed me.
