til i die - THEY. / dillon francis — fast and furious au
but lets play with it a bit: miles is a vigilante who goes undercover in the street racing world to try to get to the bottom of the string of robberies happening around his city. he's heard of hobie brown, infamous leader of the FNSM racers, who has no qualms being the main suspect in everything and anything—except, apparently, these robberies.
no one believes him, but no one can pin him and his racers at the scene of the crime(s) either. whoever's doing it may as well be invisible, slipping in to steal what they want—gear, car parts, non-perishables, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals—and driving off before the hijacked truck can even come to a complete stop. every police report and truck scanner say the same thing:
"they're quick, they're efficient, and they're showy bastards. loud music, louder cars, i don't know how i missed them, but the fuckers got me anyway."
as a vigilante, miles isn't going to have access to the police reports, but he has followed the sounds of that blaring, victorious music and gunning cars around the city enough to fall into the same camp as everyone else: this has to be the FNSM racers.
but why these trucks? what exactly are they doing with all these stolen goods? and how can he get concrete proof it's them?
miles doesn't have the racing experience. but he's got the smarts to modify cars, the guts to floor them anyway, and most importantly that same drive to push against any blockades set before him until he's coming out on the other side triumphant, just like hobie does.
and hobie likes that. he doesn't trust him—until he does, and they're forced to reckon with the reality of who they both are—but he likes that burning earnestness in miles' eye, the fact that he seems determined to find his place right next to him. step for step, mile for mile.
when hobie talks about family to miles, he really likes seeing how that fire in his eye seems to shift into something a little warmer, homier. hobie doesn't lean in when he catches miles' eyes darting down to his lips while he talks about community, and he regrets it up until miles is forced to reveal his true motive and everything changes.
(he doesn't miss his second chance though. after his car is destroyed and the cops are bearing down on them and miles has thrown him his own keys, hobie doesn't even glance at the get-away car. he pulls miles in and kisses him until the approaching sirens are louder than his own racing heart beat. then whispers an address against miles' lips before he jumps into the car and makes a speedy escape)
send me a 🔀 and a pairing, get an au ask game!

hello! i am a really big fan of your writing and i can't wait for more writings in the future. i do have a question though! i was wondering how you come up with a storyline, how you continue the next chapters, how you find out what words you can use to not make it repeat itself, also and how you fill up your chapters with 10k words?
everytime i write, i can't seem to get further than 1k words. my vocalbulary is too small to make a good enough story which will be interesting as well!
hiii <33 thank u for ur sweet words and for the support! lil writing advice in the cut below
to build a home is the first work of fiction I've written so this advice will mostly come from my experience with it.
I studied literature in uni and have mostly focused on poetry and prose ever since I remember taking a liking for writing. the same advice I followed when writing that has sort of been following me in my journey of writing fiction! here's two things I remember whenever I want to write:
1. in the wise words of Virginia Woolf, "read a thousand books and your words will flow like a river." reading is so important when writing!! I've find that it's the one common denominator in writers all around, they all read. it not only gets your own wires going but it also really helps with expanding your vocabulary! I picked up the habit of ~really reading in uni. some semesters I had to read up to three books in the span of a week 😳 but it definitely helped shape me as a writer. read with a pen/pencil in hand, annotate, write your favorite quotes you read from it over and over again, doodle, whatever it may be that sort of makes the whole process all that more stimulating! reading will make you a better writer, this I can promise.
2. there's a scene in this movie called 'stuck in love' that I've carried with me ever since I saw it. the premise sort of goes like so: the dad is a famous writer and his children take on the craft as well. the daughter is a bit of a wild child and lowkey promiscuous lol but she gets her first book published by 22! it's a heavy storyline with like, her own recounts of sexual experiences and stuff. and the son is a bit more 'passive' if you will. there's this scene where the son catches the dad reading his journal and he confronts him. to make a long story short, the dad tells him that he's not ~living enough because he leaves his journal out in the open where he can easily find it and do just that. sort of telling him that in order to be a writer he needs to start living more. this hit me so hard. I guess this is a more personal approach when it comes to giving advice but that inspiration we sometimes crave can sometimes only be found outside!! through living!! and doing crazy shit (stay safe pls) but not even, sometimes all it takes is a fifteen minute walk, eyes wide open to really take in the world around you and inspiration hits you!!! I'm very inspired by living, which I think is what makes me very involved with the storyline, which jumps me to my next point.
3. I'm very involved with what I write and I think that's exactly why I can fill 10k words of it. I really immerse myself in the plot, the characters, even the little details that some people might overlook have a bit of me in them. not necessarily of me, Tessa, but the way I perceive the world. or people around me perceive the world. you take one thing that moves you and then shape it into this big thing with its own set of beliefs, personality, adversities, etc. but it starts with you!!!!
I've mentioned this ten thousand times but I don't really know all the details of how the storyline will unfold after I'm done with a chapter. I started to build a home after an idea came to me and I never thought I'd make it past maybe chapter three but here we are! let yourself write and don't put limits to your imagination - in short, practice!!
4. writing is a muscle. the more you do it, the better you get at it.
sorry this was so long, got a little carried away. I'm sending love your way <3 xx
