Latika has sent Jojo out for some goods. Specifically, she finally has time to think of mourning, and would like some widow's blacks to commemorate her husband. There, Jojo meets Anastasio who she immediately takes a liking to after he offers to help her carry the modest goods back to her home. "What a gentleman you are, Mr. Tedo. I am glad we have neighbors such as you." He puts a hand up to his chest. "Well, Ms. Rao, if you ever require my help you need only ask. I am here to serve."

JOJO RAO had traveled here with the buccaneers, but she had other goals as well as finding a husband. She was here to join her beloved older sister Latika after receiving her most recent letter.
