"It’s showtime" for the Vermont State Police, who say they’re investigating a string of thefts from the film set of the movie "Beetlejuice 2."  The first dates back to July 14, when someone in a pickup removed a lamppost from its base that had a "distinctive pumpkin decoration" on top, bundled it into the back of the truck and sped off.  The second happened on July 17, with movie officials saying a 150-lb. abstract art statue was stolen from the vicinity of the cemetery.

What Have I Done? LB;MR Fic
First Part, Previous Part
This is the final part. I'm sorry.
Disclaimer: Alfend is no representation of DID. Sometimes fictional shooting also upsets me.
------
Alfendi noticed the gun was missing a few minutes after they noticed Ercule’s car leaving, with Flora in it. They had to follow her and of course they remembered St Mystere. It’d only been the best story he’d heard. Parents who cared enough about their children to make them a whole village. It sounded amazing! He’d always wished for it.
He’d even been there before. After Flora left when he turned sixteen, he’d found her village. They all seemed so friendly, and he’d known it was the right place because how many villages had a destroyed tower. It was the closest he’d felt to her on the time she was away. They should have gone together.
Al manages to push himself onto command as they all got into the taxi. Katrielle offering a generous tip if he took them all the way to St Mystere and even more if he got there fast. She wasn’t kidding about the detective agency doing well. The driver was all too willing to accept. They got there in record time.
They agreed to split up, Katrielle wanting to interrogate the village people and Alfendi wanting to avoid being bombarded by puzzles headed straight for the mansion. All around him people were eating normally. You could never tell they were clockwork. Not even the puzzles truly gave it away, not when Hershel managed to act almost exactly the same and there was no way he was clockwork.
Alfendi crossed the river making his way over to the house, Matthew meets him outside, “it’s been too long Alfendi! I think you need to come in and see this!” he brings Alfendi to the portrait, he frowned. It moved? Clearly, he had not done his father justice last time he’d come here not realising this simple secret door. He headed through, finding himself in a room full of gold, spying the note left by the Baron he pauses. Unwilling to disturb anything. Destroying this village would destroy Flora’s trust in him.
Speaking of, where was Flora. Matthew climbs in, shutting the portrait behind him, locking the door, “I’m sorry Alfendi, she has Flora. I can’t let any harm come to her. You understand.”
“No! I need to find her. You don’t understand there are other people here, if they find her their lives are in danger! Please! This is my mess, don’t let anyone else pay for it.”
“Alfendi,” he interjects, “please, maybe we can keep them in here but I can’t stand to see the mistress hurt.”
“Fine!”
He sits on the ground until a knocking on the entrance reveals Lucy, “showtime!” She grins at Alfendi, “You better do what I say,” she grins.
Lucy looked so vibrant, so light on her feet. The idea of finally getting her revenge was a weight off her shoulders. It drained him further, like she was sucking his soul out of him. Even Fendi couldn’t seem to summon his usual rage around her. This was the end.
“Run through here and shoot Flora,” she hands him a gun, grinning.
“No,” What the hell was she thinking? He could never do that.
“Yes! You don’t have to do anything else, just run through and shoot her. I’ll forgive you if you do!”
“I- I…” he stares at the gun in her hand before taking a breath. He wouldn’t hurt anyone, but he wouldn’t have to. She would.
His sister was going to die. He’d be framed for something he’d never do. She puts the gun in his hands, “think about it. Either you kill her or I do. I’ll make it so much harder for her! She’ll still die. I’ll just make it worse and then, I’ll destroy this village too.”
“No!”
“Yes!” It was twisted, how it was Lucy’s voice telling him to do these things. She presses the gun into his hand, running off, “and, action!” Alfendi runs into the next room, spying Katrielle out the window and Flora standing in front.
Understanding shone in her eyes, “do it,” she smiles at him, “don’t worry about me, just keep Katrielle safe, and yourself. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you too.”
“She’ll think I did it,” he shakes his head, tears leaking out his eyes.
“Tell them what happened,” she drops her voice, “there are witnesses remember?” Al’s hands tremble, “Please.”
She was begging to die. No.
Yes.
Fendi pulls the trigger. Blood blossoms from Flora’s chest. Flowing out across the chest of her dress. She was already dead. He had ensured that much. “no!” He heard himself call as she collapsed backwards, glass shattering behind her as she fell to the ground. Katrielle rushes to her sister Ercule looks through the window, eyes meeting Alfendi’s.
“We have the place surrounded,” someone calls, “come out with your hands up!”
Backup. Of course he’d thought to call for backup, if Al had fought for just a bit longer maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
He couldn’t seem to get his legs to move, instead they gave out from under him and he collapsed to the ground. Staring at the bloodstained carpet, nauseated.
He’d done this.
In this reality, he really was the murderer.

What's next for David Benavidez?

What's next for David Benavidez?
On the night when Showtime’s pay-per-view output bowed out of the sport, a real star of boxing was born inside Mandalay Bay last week.
It has been a gradual process for David Benavidez. Still, his impressive win against Caleb Plant in March, his first real top-tier opponent, evidenced his potential at the elite level. Then, his statement-making six-round beatdown of former two-weight division champion Demetrius Andrade last week hammered home that point. Now, all of the boxing fraternity has been clamoring for Benavidez to face one opponent and one opponent only.
We know this is who Benavidez wants, too. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will most likely next be seen in May 2024 for Cinco De Mayo, and everybody will be calling for a Canelo vs Benavidez showdown.
With back-to-back wins against Plant and Andrade, Benavidez is doing something similar to Tim Tszyu at 154 lbs, who is chasing the super welterweight king in Jermell Charlo. If you cannot secure that fight against the top guy, then stay active while beating all of the top contenders and force the champion’s hand, creating a demand for a fight to crown the genuine No.1.
Even with everything he’s achieved, Canelo’s legacy also needs that fight now. An unwillingness to face Benavidez, widely viewed as the biggest threat to Canelo south of 175 lbs, would be a stain on Canelo’s legacy. It has now got to the stage, with yet another statement made by Benavidez, that the world is demanding an all-Mexican showdown.
Benavidez’s breakdown of Andrade eliminated any remaining doubts that Benavidez was the biggest threat to Canelo’s throne at 168 lbs. Benavidez wants the fight, and the fans want the fight. There is nowhere else for Canelo to turn. Canelo has never been one to turn down a challenge and now is the time for a huge legacy definer for both men.
Against Jermell Charlo, Canelo showed that he is not done yet. He has plenty left in the tank. He responded to those questioning whether he might be in decline with a dominant performance.
“Nobody can beat this Canelo,” Álvarez said afterward in the in-ring interview following the Charlo win. Now, many hold the belief that Benavidez can beat this version of Canelo, and Canelo needs to defend his throne.
It is the timing that makes this fight so fascinating. We have seen Canelo peak and reach the top of the mountain, and he is now arguably slipping ever so slightly but still very good on his night. We have not seen Benavidez reach the peak of the mountain yet, but he is marching up there. For Canelo to defeat Benavidez, it would take one of his absolute greatest performances in his Hall-of-Fame career, if not the greatest, to pull it off.
David Benavidez has options outside of Canelo Alvarez.
Benavidez is the man to show us if Canelo still has the fire and desire like old, and Canelo is the man to show us whether Benavidez has the makings to be the greatest fighter of his generation like he states he wants to be known as.
If Canelo vs Benavidez does not happen, there are other options for one of the most exciting fighters in the world.
David Morrell Jr does not have a significant following yet, but Benavidez vs Morrell would undoubtedly be a fascinating match-up.
In terms of the eye test, Morrell checks all the boxes. He has the poise, skill set, ring generalship, and power. The rangy Cuban southpaw has shown to be the complete package, capable of giving Benavidez problems. However, the 9-0 Morrell has yet to display his skill set against solid opponents.
Morrell has been calling Benavidez out for a while and holds the subsidiary version of the WBA super middleweight belt. You never know; Benavidez is a Morrell win away from basically cleaning out everyone but the top guy at super middleweight.
Jose Benavidez Sr, David’s father, stated prior to the Andrade fight that if the Canelo fight cannot be secured next, Benavidez will target light-heavyweight titleholders Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev.
Both are captivating, albeit dangerous, options. Last year, Canelo learned the hard way about Bivol’s ability, losing a unanimous decision. Moving up in weight to face a boxer as skillful, disciplined, and smart as Bivol can prove to be a real step back in someone’s career and a confidence dampener. Of course, we are talking about Benavidez here, not Canelo, and as the age-old saying in boxing goes, the very accurate saying, ‘styles make fights.’ Benavidez is taller and naturally bigger than Canelo.
These attributes can only be helpful for Benavidez against Bivol, and he may have a style more naturally suited to combat the Russian. Silky, slick boxers can often come undone against pressure fighters who allow no real space and time for them to find their rhythm, which Benavidez has done consistently throughout his career. Nevertheless, Bivol’s ring generalship and footwork would provide a significant challenge for Benavidez to overcome. Bivol’s work with that lead hand is exceptional, and he has brilliant control of distance. It would be a very difficult challenge for Benavidez, but Benavidez has always spoken about this fight with confidence, and he genuinely believes he is destined to be remembered as a great fighter and great fighters take great risks.
Regarding Beterbiev, that would have the makings of an absolute barnburner of a classic between two of the sport’s unstoppable forces. Beterbiev, the unified 175 lbs champion with a 100% KO ratio, is a fully-fledged light-heavyweight monster and would be able to match Benavidez’s physicality. Beterbiev obviously carries power, but his boxing ability is underrated, with great counter-punching ability, brilliant angles, a great judge of distance, with very good footwork and timing. Would Benavidez be able to handle blows from such heavy hands, the likes of which he will have never faced? Benavidez throws combinations that are hard to read, with speed and power and is relentless. Whether Beterbiev, at 38, would be able to keep up with Benavidez’s pace is interesting.
Jermall Charlo returned on the Benavidez - Andrade undercard with an easy unanimous decision win against Jose Benavidez Jr, looking impressive for a man out of the ring for two and a half years, but there was obvious ring rust, and Charlo may not be so eager to jump in with David off the back of that devastating performance against Andrade. If Charlo is keen, he is a very well-accomplished two-division champion and, on his night, one of the best in the business. Charlo has one of the best jabs in boxing, with experience and athleticism, and knows how to sell a fight. The fans would undoubtedly love this fight. Benavidez has expressed interest in making this fight if he cannot get Canelo. For now, momentum and timing favor Benavidez, and we shall see whether Charlo shares Benavidez’s desire to make this fight happen.
In the past, Canelo has brushed aside the possibility of facing Benavidez, but he can’t brush it aside anymore. “Who has he beat?” is not an argument that can hold up any longer. Canelo has always fought the best. We can’t question his mentality. Benavidez is undoubtedly a huge challenge, and there is no reason to think Canelo’s philosophy has changed.
Benavidez’s life will change with a Canelo fight. A fight for the undisputed super middleweight showdown is not only a legacy-definer for Benavidez, but it’s the one that pays like no other, too. It’s not just about the belts for Benavidez. It is facing Canelo for the belts that matter.
As fans, not only stylistically but with the timing of the fight, it would be an absolute pleasure to witness.
If Canelo does not fight Benavidez next, he is not being the great champion he should be.
“I’m definitely entering my prime. The passion I have for the sport,” Benavidez said as his voice broke and tears filled his eyes. “I just want to make my dad and my mother proud of me.”

Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford - A Showdown for the Ages

Deal is signed, fight is official ✍️ #SpenceCrawford pic.twitter.com/GpJ0B0Fhd1
— ESPN Ringside (@ESPNRingside) May 25, 2023
Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford will take place on July 29th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Showtime PPV for the undisputed welterweight championship.
For a long time, Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford was a fight that fans felt they had lost. It won’t happen, or if it does, it’ll be too late. It was a much-clamored fight since 2018, when Crawford made a move up to 147 lbs, to no end. With every fight both men had that was not named Spence or Crawford in the opposite corner, it just would not suffice. These two are destined to determine one another’s legacy. They are natural generational rivals. Now it’s actually happening.
Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia was huge because of the fight’s transcendence beyond the boxing fanbase. Heavyweight showdowns between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed championship and Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder, a fight between two of the leading heavyweight contenders and former big-punching champions, are colossal.
However, purely from a quality vs. quality standpoint, pound-for-pound vs. pound-for-pound, it does not get better than Spence vs. Crawford for all four belts in an undisputed welterweight showdown.
They’re a combined 67-0 with 52 KOs. They have both been pound-for-pound top five mainstays for the past few years. They may not be young studs anymore, with Crawford aged 35 and Spence 33, but neither man has shown any signs of decline yet, and both still appear in their prime. These two are simply the two best fighters of their generation in the same weight class, which happens to be the historically revered welterweight division; both still at their peak, with all the physical gifts, talents, and intangibles in the world, contesting for undisputed supremacy. It does not get any better.
Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns in 1981. Felix Trinidad vs Oscar De La Hoya in 1999. Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao in 2015. Now, this generation is getting its welterweight super-fight.
This is the biggest welterweight match-up since Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, bar none. The only difference is, unlike Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, this fight is arguably not past its expiration date. Mayweather was 38 when they fought, and Pacquiao was 36. Both men were top pound-for-pound fighters at the time, but both were also clearly past their best. Mayweather only fought twice more, if you want to count that glorified Conor McGregor exhibition bout, a clear indicator that his days were nearing an end. Pacquiao was no longer the dynamic merchant he was a few years earlier. The ideal time for that match-up would have been 2010 or 2011.
Spence and Crawford are not much younger than Mayweather, and Pacquiao were when they fought, but these two appear fresher. Crawford has stopped his last 10 opponents, with his two most recent wins being a statement knock-out of Shawn Porter in November 2021 and a devastating KO of David Avanesyan in December 2022. Crawford turns 36 in September. Father Time could creep up on him at any moment, but that has yet to happen. Spence survived a terrible car crash in late 2019, lucky to prevail alive, and has since defeated Danny Garcia via unanimous decision in December 2020 and stopped Yordenis Ugas in April 2022 to unify three 147 lbs titles.
Spence and Crawford have simultaneously been champions at welterweight for five years. Spence has been a welterweight champion since stopping Kell Brook in May 2017, and Crawford became a champion at 147 lbs when he stopped Jeff Horn in June 2018. They have a combined 12 title defenses, with six defenses apiece. Crawford is the WBO king, and Spence is the unified WBC, WBA, and IBF champion.
Spence is not a pressure fighter in the same mold as Julio Cesar Chavez Sr or an aggressive brawler like Ray Mancini, but he does employ an educated, subtle, and relentless attack behind his strong southpaw jab. That consistent jab frequently sets up left-hand blows to head and body, with Spence arguably the most effective and accurate body puncher in boxing today. Spence has great footwork and is a master at controlling distance, but also really knows how to work his way on the inside. A combination of aggression, volume, body punching, and power from a man who is so physically strong at the weight but has also mastered the fundamentals of the Sweet Science makes Spence an extremely difficult opponent to prepare for.
Crawford is a complete fighter. He can box. He can punch. He can fight equally as effectively on the front foot and back foot and from either stance. He has power in both hands. Crawford has the ability to make adjustments mid-fight, unlike any other active fighter, with great instincts, and is a great counter-puncher. He is also arguably the best finisher in the sport today. Once an opponent is hurt, Crawford is ice-cold in the manner he does not let his opponents off the hook.
With the vast skill set at both fighters’ disposal, both men also have the heart, will, and toughness to grit it out and win a war of attrition when needed.
Spence and Crawford have it all. That’s what makes this fight so special.
The past greats had talent, but they became all-time greats because of a worthy rival that made them display what they were made of. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier had one another. The Four Kings had one another. Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta’s rivalry cemented each other’s legacy and defined an era. Every true great needs a dance partner.
After everything Spence and Crawford have achieved, this is their chance to finally cement their greatness.
