Let's talk about eyes. Throughout history a woman’s eyes have been one of the most, if not, the most prominent aspect of a woman’s beauty.

In ancient Egyptian days, women and men lined their eyes with black kohl to protect their eyes from the sun, they formed an almond or cat eye shape, that, although was meant for protection may also have been considered beautiful. Although, it’s not clear how much of their makeup applications were solely for beauty purposes or protective purposes or both, see the article, “How Ancient Egypt Shaped Our Idea of Beauty” by Alastair Sooke written for BBC Culture, (http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20160204-how-ancient-egypt-shaped-our-idea-of-beauty), we do know that the application of eyeliner and mascara can be traced all the way back to these ancient days.

Not only, the Egyptians, but also the Ancient Romans considered long eyelashes and dark, almost uni-brow like eyebrows, beautiful. They even took it one step further, as stated in Wikipedia: “Cosmetics in Ancient Rome”, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmetics_in_Ancient_Rome), Pliny the Elder, an ancient Roman author, wrote that it was thought that a woman’s eyelashes would fall out from having too much sex, so, you can imagine how important it was to the Roman woman to make sure that her eyelashes were long, full and beautiful for the maintenance of her integrity in those times.
