That is until one teary appointment has Louis struggling to deliver the bad news. At least the question isn't related to the virus and maybe he can end the call with some sense of hope anyway.

These words weren’t right, but they were the closest to what he could describe. He would leave them on Louis’ bed for him to find and mark this day as the day he knew. But that didn’t happen yet. Right then, surrounded by huckleberries, clovers, and pansies, the last warm rays of the sun, in late spring, when it smelled like grass and water and flowers, it was just them, Louis and Harry, lying on the shores of a creek, holding each other, with thousands of words in between them, waiting to be said.

(After living in France for five years, Harry joins the ton for the season of 1822. Louis is delighted to see his best friend again, and soon they are as close as they were before. It would be a lot easier though, if Louis didn't begin to have these thoughts.)

Wars, and rumours of wars, were nothing new for the world in the twenty-fourth century. The fighting had evolved over the years, and rarely did it involve traditional weapons. A group most widely known as the Southern Powers gained strength amongst portions of the western European continent and spread quickly.

Resistance came in the form of an organised underground; a group comprised of people with the Touch that did the best they could to enforce a line that would not be crossed. Slowly, that line was moved from the Channel to boundaries further and further north. It seemed only a matter of time before the Southern Powers took over everywhere.

Until that time, people did the best they could to live their lives in some semblance of normality. For Louis Tomlinson, that sense of normality was about to change when his best friend, Harry Styles, goes missing.
