In 1980, I attended the Ansel Adams Workshop as a young pup. As part of this trip I exposed a few sheets of 4" x 5" film at Mono Lake and just one of Half Dome (where it’s not even the main subject).
I must say: there is not a good composition to be found in this early work: I was just finding my way around a view camera, and the clumsiness shows. (This particular camera was a Calumet full studio rail, in a large box—not particularly good for use in the field, especially when it came to hiking.)
In any case, my apologies to Ansel and all the great 19th century photographers who exposed wet-plates in this area: Muybridge and Watkins among them.

I actually process sheet film. Ilford knows of all us in the world. It is so much fun listening to music on repeat in a totally dark environment and dream big. For me this is heaven to be able to make art from step one to the end using your brain of exposing and developing.#processingfilm#largeformatphotography#sheetfilm#sheshootsilford#analogphotography#darkroomwork#theroundhouse
Fixing a hole on my Deardorff lens board. Making it smaller for the old rebuilt Petzval that use to be on my 4x5 camera. Made the boards for both the Deardorff and the Cambo change back’able.
