My new betta Vienna has been moved to her 5.5 gallon tank and is acclimating very well.
I wasn't planning on getting a betta from a chain pet store but I was there for unrelated things and she was exactly what I was looking for so I went against my better judgment and brought her home 😔
Her tank has live plans and driftwood as well as ramshorn snails and I think that'll be the only thing aside from maybe more plants that will go in this tank lol
Genuinely so happy to report that adding sacrificial cull shrimp to the betta thunderdome for enrichment was massively successful. Her Highness is a lot more curious and active even outside of when she is hunting!
Now aside from the slow process of the plants growing in, my sole remaining goal is to eliminate the godforsaken green filamentous algae. The temptation to rip out, dry off, and replant all the plants like accidentally worked for the other tank is High.
sometimes my mom will purposefully ignore "exit only do not enter" signs at the grocery store bc she doesn't like being told what to do, and then gets irritated bc that's the exit and it's harder to get through than using the designated entrance, and so shes inconvenienced herself exclusively to fight the power (door signs). I expressed this to my housemate and she said "with great love, your mom reminds me of a betta fish sometimes"
Unrelated to fandom but I “impulse” purchased a spicy betta fish a month and a bit ago, and I have become the weird fish person of my circle.
She’s so small, I have had to crush up beta pellets because her mouth is too tiny to eat them whole. I’m trying to be a good fish mom. I got her a six gallon tank a heater and a slow filter. I clean the water and siphons the sand weekly. (Eventually I want to get a slightly bigger tank with live plants for her that I have cycled, because NATURE).
And I’m TRYING not to over feed the baby, even tho she’s convinced she WILL starve to death…
So my sweet fish child, who associates my finger with food and occasionally attempts to bite me…MURDERED a fly 1/3 of her size, and all that was left was the wings and enough of its back to hold them together. I’m lowkey concerned but also impressed.
