what no one tells you about changing your name is that being called anything else makes you feel murderous

#someone called me Cathy yday #which like reverts back to the Irish naming to which I feel SO DISTANT #and makes me so so uncomfortable #anyway cat is the go to. #Cati is good it is the affectionate form:) my abuela calls me Cati when she is being nice to me #she calls me by my old name when she’s mad 🤕 #Catalina is fine cos it’s the proper form. feels a little odd when English people use it tho #like it’s either a formal thing . I’m happy to be called it but it’s def more formal. and my abuela can obvs use it #and it’s all my Spanish family ever called me so it makes me happy when they use it #I’ll also accept my last name being used :))) cos that was nearly my first name anyway #but I couldn’t figure out a new surname so I used my middle name as a surname instead #so anyway yeh happy to b called that. but fuck do not call me Cathy or Kate or Katie or Catherine #or like anything else #it’s all so weird 2 me #I reworked my name precisely so it would be more me now everything else is like rly badly fitting itchy clothing get it offffff
