Knitting idea: I don't wear shawls but I do wear bandanas, so maybe I could knit a miniature version of a shawl and wear it as a bandana.

This beautiful shawl is hard to photograph because I misread the pattern increases and it doesn't lay flat 馃槄 BUT it's still absolutely gorgeous. Thank you to my godmother for gifting the wonderful yarn <3
Pattern: Mingling Daisies Shawl by Stephen West
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn in 'Plum Blossom' by Woollen Wytch (in 50% BFL, 25% Alpaca, 25% Bio-nylon)

New shawl/capelet/cowl with buttons; Spurdog is a very customizable bias-knit project you can make in sizes from kerchief to full wrap. It looks really nice in a rustic handspun.

Piecework, Winter 2022
The cover of this issue features a Jacobean Crewelwork Project Bag by Deanna Hall west which accompanies an article on the history of crewelwork by Jacqui McDonald. This article is actually an excerpt from Royal School of Needlework Essential Stitch Guides: Crewelwork. So you can try your hand and see if you want to pursue the craft further.
You see as well a colcha, Spanish for bedspread or blanket, which also refers to a long, self-couching stitch which is what embroiders this one with flora and birds. Julia R. Gomez wrote both the article on the history of this kind of needlework and offers a lesson and a project featuring a peahen.聽
Those Sports Mittens have both a history and a pattern written up by Karen Penders St. Clair whose Grandmother LeRoux first typed up the basic directions. She made them in Kelbourne Woolens Germantown worsted weight yarn, a revived American brand, so you have both pattern and yarn with a bit of history. You see here the outer edge from the Shetland Old Shell Hap and Half Hap, which are a square and a triangular shawl respectively explained by Elizabeth Johnston. While the borders are pretty lace stitches, the body is done in garter stitch, a thick and warm stitch which surely makes sense coming from the Shetland Islands.
I always feature the projects, but there are lots of historical articles on felting wool, on Coptic textiles, and paper packets of needles and on needle gauges, small items that remind us that everything has a history.聽聽
You can find this issue at your local yarn shop, LYS, or here online: https://pieceworkmagazine.com/subscription

And so the shawl continues to grow! Got a solid two hours of knitting in today, and am nearly to row 50! Getting the hang of beaded increases, and the specific way to mid pattern bind off isn't anywhere as annoying as I thought it would be.
Really just loving this shawl and wish I had more time in the day to knit it. And hell, enough time to do math to adapt it circular and stick it on a frame as a parasol. Probably not until tiny tot is safely in high school and won't try to run off with the yarn again.

I finished my gf's winter lights shawl at 3:30pm on the day of her birthday (This was supposed to be a Yule gift btw) but hey, that counts as finishing it in time. The 700ish stitch icord bind off took 4.5 hours and there were 40 ends to weave in but by the gods I finished. It needs blocked but we're moving some stuff around so I'll use our bed to block it tomorrow. There's one major mistake in there I'm really hoping will block out.
Now I'm going to dye some alpaca lace yarn "hot fuchsia" (that's the name of the Jacquard dye I am using) and look at the beads situation because I think I'm going to make another Sapphira shawl if I have enough beads. The last one was fueled by spite and trauma. This one will be fueled by joy and flamboyance.

Straightforward Mitts by Mone Dr盲ger, modified!
I made these with Dye Mad Yarns' Chester Sock base in Play for a Purpose (2023). The pattern linked above does not come with fingers, but a friend saw @ninalanfer's version modified to include half fingers and loved it. So, naturally, I had to Make These For Them :)
Huge shout-out to nina for generously linking me (an absolute finger-knitting noob) helpful patterns and notes for learning how to do fingers! It was super helpful and very appreciated, and now I feel Unstoppable!!

Park Walk Shawl.
(I know I referred to this earlier, because it was an idea I鈥檇 had and I didn鈥檛 come back and sketch it, but in the end it was still there. I had some ambivalence about the two-color version鈥攜ou could add a C3 or even work every step in a different yarn if you wanted鈥攂ut ended up liking it pretty well. Kinda mountain bluebird colors. DK-weight shawl, too, so it knits up quickly, and there鈥檚 really no reason it couldn鈥檛 be worsted weight.)
