Just arrived a 1969 Gibson SG Junior! -Link in our profile. - The SG Junior has always remained a very popular guitar, and with good reason. This super light and handy instrument distills the essence of Gibson's 1960's sculpted solidbody aesthetic down to the minimum, with a single P-90 pickup and endless neck to play on. While designed as a student instrument, SG Juniors have been the choice of many professional players for decades, especially in the hard rock zone. This is a typical late'60s model; in 1966 all SG's were modified with a large center body rout covered by an expanded pickguard allowing bodies in stock to be assembled into any SG or Melody Maker model. 1965 #Gibson #GA17 RVT #Scout #amp 1961 Gibson #LesPaul Junior I am still buzzing from last weekend's epiphany that you don't have to spend $2,000 or more to get a great amp. As mentioned in previous posts, this Scout is the least expensive (by several hundred dollars) #vintageamp I have ever bought, costing 1/4 to 1/6th the price of many of the vintage Fenders I have bought in the past. And yet it sounds as good as any of them...albeit "different"... Some thoughts so far: Pros: 1) PRICE - for an all original mid 60s amp in good condition, the price is substantially less expensive relative to other #vintageamps made by #Fender. 2) Headroom - it's super crisp and clean right up until about 8 or 9 on the volume knob. If I used pedals I would say "takes pedals well!" 😂 3) Looks - no, I am not shallow! My main thing is taking pictures - I don't want gear that isn't photogenic! 🤣 Cons: Stuff I found, um, not actually "bad" about the amp, but let's just say stuff I needed to get "used to": 1) No #tone or tremolo blend controls - the amp is set to permanent bright and you have to use your #guitar tone knob to darken it. Similarly, the trem is either "on" at full intensity, or "off". There is no mixing or blending it in with the signal. This is a minor issue for me as I use my guitar tone knob anyway (I almost never touch the amp tone control), and on the rare occasions I do use tremolo, I pretty much always use it on full blast anyway. 2) Sound - the sound is definitely "different" from what I am used to. It is super crisp and clear...almost TOO clear! At lower volumes it feels a bit anemic and thin. However, if you pump it up to past halfway the thinness fills out nicely (but stays clean). Again not a huge issue for me because I tend to turn all my amps all the way up and then use my guitar volume control to keep the volume apartment-friendly...I just find all amps sound better this way To me the pros FAR outweigh the cons and I will be looking for more #Gibsonamps going forward! #gibsonamp #vintageamp #vintageguitar #vintagegibson #guitarphotography #guitars #gibsonguitar #gibsonlespaul #sgjunior #lespauljunior

1969 #SGStandard, and 1961 #LesPaul Junior. The Standard was purchased from @puisheen way back in December of 2014. It was a complete restoration project Mike undertook, and did a spectacular job on. I once had this guitar side by side with an all original 1968 SG Standard, and at arms length it was difficult to tell which one was which! The Junior does say "Les Paul" on the headstock (in case anyone was going to leave as nasty comment say I don't know my SG from my elbow!), and is an all original (except that I removed the trem and replaced the wrap tail with a compensated one...all original parts in the case!) early example of the SG Junior design. But forget the gear for a second, and check out those awesome (if I do say so myself...) home made amp dollies!

If you didn't see my stories yesterday, I am cleaning out the house and was getting rid of some old, low quality, storage shelves that had been taking up space in the closet now known as "Case Cavern". None of my friends wanted these old wobbly shelves, so I took them apart for easier disposal.

Then the idea hit me: I could use the shelves as amp platforms! And better yet: I could put wheels on them and transform them into amp dollies, so I could just roll my bigger amps into position for photo sessions instead of killing my back every time I wanted to snap a few pics!

Now, keep in mind that I am the least "handy" man in the world, so even a simple DIY project like this was an immense challenge for me. 🤣 But I spent yesterday acquiring wheels and screws at the local hardware store, and fastening them to the bottom of 4 shelves. And here is the result: rolling amp dollies. I think I will stain them next...for that added decorative touch! 😉

Now I'm thinking of going into business. Some product names I have been mulling over:
