Microsoft 365 launched new Features

Microsoft 365 Changed the cloud storage :

Starting February 1, 2023, cloud storage used across Microsoft 365 apps and services will include Outlook.com attachments data and OneDrive data. All data will continue to be protected with Microsoft’s comprehensive set of security features.

This update may reduce how much cloud storage you have available to use with your OneDrive. If you reach your cloud storage quota, your ability to send and receive emails in Outlook.com will be disrupted.

1. Microsoft Reflect

Microsoft Reflect is built with lots of love. Our community has been at the heart of everything we do, and we are inspired by how Reflect makes a positive impact on learners’ well-being of all ages. That’s why we aim to support any academic or technological setting and meet you wherever you are. Today, we are excited to announce that Reflect is now available as a web application, expanding its accessibility beyond Microsoft Teams and OneNote. Simply open reflect rom any device, whether it’s a desktop, tablet, or mobile, without the need to download a separate app. With powerful features and a user-friendly interface accessed through a web browser, Reflect makes it easy to create impactful check-ins, enabling you to gain well-being insights and build a happier, healthier learning community.

After creating the check-in, you can share a link or QR code to collect responses. You have full control over who is invited to respond and what they can see. As responses come in, you gain valuable insights into your learners’ emotions, strengths, and areas that may require attention. We are eager to hear your feedback. This is just the beginning of the journey for this Reflect experience, with many more exciting updates planned. Stay tuned for more features on how to use Reflect to support connection, expression, and learning.

2. OneNote

A popular scenario for educators using OneNote Class Notebook is to embed Stream videos to render interactively, including a thumbnail, on the page by just pasting a Stream video URL. This has worked in the original version of Stream and is now rolling out for Stream on SharePoint as well. This capability also works for stand-alone OneNote users, including students and educators.

Pen focus view The Pen fourced view enables you to create with your pen without any distractions. The view comes with a Pen toolbar that includes all your favorite customized pen tools. Now you can focus on notetaking during a lecture or a brainstorming session — no more distractions!

Coming soon: The toolbar adjusts to you, drag the pen toolbar to and side of the app to snap it to that position. Inking Gestures — Draw and Hold To create neater lines and shapes, you can now use the Draw and hold gesture. Simply draw a line, arrow, or shape (like a circle, ellipse, triangle, square, rectangle, rhombus, pentagon, or hexagon) in a single stroke, hold your pen in place for a few milliseconds, and watch as the shape is converted into a neater version. While still holding, you can drag to rotate or resize the shape.

Inking Gestures — Scratchout Using your pen tool, you can scratch on your link(letters, words, or drawings) to erase them. This new gesture provides an even faster way to delete ink while staying in the flow!

With a pen tool selected, quickly draw a scribble (loopy or zig-zaggy stroke) over the ink you want to erase and notice that the ink behind it is removed.

3. Forms

Over the past few months, Microsoft Forms has shipped a multitude of new features, enabling an innovative way to present your forms/quizzes and enhancing the overall experience for respondents. Let’s explore these exciting updates together!

Live presentation capability in Forms To enhance interaction and engagement with the audience. We provide a new way to share your forms or quizzes in any online or in-person event. With just a QR scan or short URL, audiences can participate in live surveys and view real-time responses.

Form creators now can utilize the present mode, offering a seamless way to demonstrate their forms/quizzes. This feature provides audiences with easy accessibility, allowing them to access the form online or offline by simply entering the URL or scanning the provided QR code.

Show or hide correct answer If you are using a quiz, you can also choose whether to show or hide the correct answers to your audience. This can help you create different types of quizzes for different purposes. For example, you can hide the correct answers if you want to use the quiz as a formative assessment or a pre-test. You can show the correct answers if you want to use the quiz as a review or a self-check.

PPT add-on The same live presentation capability will also be available in PowerPoint, empowering presenters to seamlessly interact with real-time responses, elevate audience engagement, and effortlessly maintain the flow of their presentation — eliminating the need to open another browser or navigate across multiple screens.

Enhanced Forms respondent experience Furthermore, we have enhanced respondent experience by providing the option to save and edit their responses as needed, catering to a wide range of intricate EDU scenarios.

Save response To enhance students’ comprehension of their errors and be better prepared for future exams, we enabled save response function in “Thank you” page. After they submit a quiz, they will have an option to save their response along with the correct answers.

Edit response We have also enabled respondents to edit their response after submission, ensuring more accurate survey results.

there’s scratchouts and doodles filling up the music sheet before him. usually it’d have some semblance of words or rhymes, but he can’t seem to tear his gaze away from how your eyes flutter softly beneath the light of his lamp, at a book you quietly read as he works. it isn’t until you look up at him, sweet, unassuming, that he realizes himself, only because of how you react; with cheeks coloring bright pink, body sinking into his bedcovers, book blocking faces from facing. “babe.” allen finds himself whining. “let me see you. if i don’t, i won’t be able to finish bae’s next single. you’re my good luck charm, you know!”

anne:

anne can never keep their eyes off you, simply because they know they’d miss the pleasure of seeing your sweet face blooming every shade of rose whenever your eyes meet. sly teases and sneaky affections always work the best in getting you to hide in his arms, hoping he wouldn’t see your expressions. but he does, and loves them so.

experimenting with makeup and styles are a natural part of their life, whether for work or fun. as much as anne is content practicing on themself, they find it much more fulfilling to see how cutely your pretty face scrunches up when they practice on you. shy, embarrassed, too flattered by his beauty to even look at him. it’s a shame, really — anne’s eyes are only for you, whose eyes close shut and away from him each time you catch him staring a little too long instead of swiping highlighter across your nose. “sweetie pie, don’t make that face. you’ll get wrinkles, you know.” anne pokes your cheek with the tip of their foundation brush, giggling at how you blush a natural rose. “let’s keep our pretty faces pretty forever, okay?”

hajun:

in many ways, you are perfect for hajun. if he was dangerous before, he is nothing but a menace now, set on forcing every fiber of your being to fire and ash until you’re teary-eyed and painted scarlet as flames. simple glances pulsating with amusement are hajun’s specialty, for better or worse, and do more than enough to satisfy his sadistic urge to see you tremble and stammer so sweetly before him.

there’s hardly any space left for you to escape his grasp. the side of his bed you rest on touches the wall, leaving you trapped between glossy paint and hajun’s menacingly loving smile. “what’s wrong, baby? why won’t you let me hug you? i didn’t do anything to upset you, did i?” he asks, voice light and airy. he happily watches as you squeak and bring his duvet covers to hide your flushed face, to act as a barrier from the glint in his eyes. but hajun is not easily defeated or denied; with plenty of play he pounces, leaving you squealing and breathless as he manages to rip the covers from your lovely face, at once becoming helpless beneath the prince’s sneering mirth. “hah, what a nice expression. it’s not kind to hide these sorts of things from me, you know. why don’t you make it up for me with a kiss, hm?”

Garters - a La Fille drabble

Was digging around in my fanfic folder and found a half-finished drabble from forever ago that I decided I’d finish up.

Anyone miss Gilbert and Margaret? No one? Well, I do. Have a little saucy R-rated moment from them.

She was proud, his Columbine.

He was one of the richest men in France, and certainly one of the richest men in the entirety of the New World at this very instant, and would she allow him to buy her a paltry thing like a new pair of shoes, or a length of linen for a new chemise?

Absolutement non.

Such gifts smacked of charity, and Margaret Frances might have lacked for many things, but her pride was never one of them, and charity was for women who had lost that, along with everything else. If that meant saving her shoes by going barefoot and mending her linen until it was scarcely able to be mended again, then that was precisely what she was prepared to do.

Gilbert learned to be circuitous in his gifts; if the linen were in the form of a shirt he were discarding, she would take it, and make it over. If the shoes had been a gift from someone in exchange for a kind word at headquarters, and he unable to use them, then that was acceptable. He found a dozen new ways to lie.

And slowly - very slowly - he raised her up, bit by tenuous bit. A new cap here, an apron there. Nothing ostentatious, not a single bit above her station - simple things, to her taste, well-made. He could not give her a palace, but he could at least make sure she did not look as though she belonged in the gutter.

But there was no power on earth that would stop him from buying the garters.

They were pink, they were embroidered, and they were quite beyond anything Margaret would buy for herself, which was precisely why Gilbert, seeing them laid out on the blanket for sale, knew he must have them. Planchet was sent to make inquiries, keeping his master far out of it and bargaining the woman selling them (a faded jade who had probably made them for herself in rosier days) down considerably from her absurdly high price.

But in the moment, he found no suitable opportunity to give them to her, and the stockings that should go with. (These were not for tying over woolens - these required silk stockings, with clocks, and embroidered mules, if he could manage it, and if his dreams were truly to be realized, a skirt in the court style with panniers and pockets and...on it went. But stockings first.) So the garters were folded into his writing case with a sachet of scent, spicy frankincense and bergamot, and Gilbert waited for the right moment - which never seemed to come.

“They should have a message,” Planchet said, one day, looking over his master’s shoulder as Gilbert considered his illicit token. “A saying. Un devise. Toutes les dames de Versailles les ont comme ça -- Quelque chose seulement pour ses yeux.”

Something only for her eyes. Planchet helpfully provided him a needle and thread (and a piece of linen on which to practice his stitches) before Gilbert made up his mind, the sheet of paper in front of him filled with scratchouts.  And so, bit by painstaking bit, he embroidered his words into the silk, taking great care that Margaret could not see what project was consuming his attention. More than once he tucked them back into his writing case when she came by to refill his teacup, or place another log on the fire, hastily returning to a letter to no one whenever she entered the room.

It took him the better part of the afternoon and the evening, as well, the candles dipping lower into their holders as he tied off the final letter, and, pleased with the result, slipped them into the pocket of his waistcoat and went upstairs.

“You were terribly secretive all afternoon.”  Margaret observed from her side of the bed, looking up as Gilbert came in. Her shoes were already laid to one side, and her jacket and stays; she was just in the process of taking off her stockings.

“I was sewing,’ Gilbert said with a smile. She looked at him askance, and he knelt at her feet, taking out the garters and presenting them to her.

Margaret gave a little gasp, her hands tentative, the way they had first been upon being given charge of Gilbert’s silk waistcoats and fine linen ruffles, afraid she might somehow dirty them if she touched too long. She’d had nice things like that herself, a long time ago, but nothing, he thought, so fine as these. “Where did you -”

“Better I not tell,” he said, ashamed of what she would think of the story, a woman selling what little she had. He’d paid a fair price.

Her hands traced the little dark letters, the curling leaves and flowers. “What do they say?”

Gilbert took the ribbons back, smiling as his hands dived up her skirts, feeling their way along the curve of her calves and the tendons of her knees so he might move her skirts aside. “Ma devise -” a kiss for her ankle, drawing the ribbon erotically up her calf, his hands circling one leg and making the knot, stroking the backs of her knees -“est de vous aime” another kiss for the other leg, and a second, longer moment for his lips to appreciate the little peaks and valleys of her knee, before the second knot was tied, “et de ne jamais”- his hands rose higher into her skirts, and he rose a little with them, spreading her a little wider as  she sat above him quivering with anticipation - “changer.” He looked up at her from between her knees, hands warm on her thighs, and smiled.

She sighed in agitation at his teasing, and tried to pull him up to her, grabbing at the half-open collar of his shirt, but misjudged her mark, and succeeded only in pulling him further into her skirts - which bothered him not at all as his head dived beneath her petticoat and his lips set to work making her shriek with delight, her legs splayed over his shoulders, the garters flashing their message in the candlelight.

My motto is to love you and to never change.

There are many, many examples of embroidered garters of this type, but the particular garters in this story, and the motto on them, are based on an extant pair in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, accession number 38.1390b.  Some of them have similarly saucy mottos, but I think it’s safe to say most of them would have been embroidered by the wearers, and not their beaux. I would never typically define myself as a perfectionist, but today I realized the one major exception of taking notes. The intial draft may be full of scribbles, scratchouts, boxes, and asterisks if time is limited, but if it's something I'm going to study afterwards I am unreasonably driven to rewrite every word until it is organized properly, and will start over completely if I make a mistake. If I catch myself early enough and realize what's happening, I'll repurpose myself to just keeping everything relatively neat, easily forgiving mistakes or scratchouts knowing the content is still organized and easy to read.. but if I don't catch myself? It's as if I'm trying to preserve the information for discovery in the distant future; as if the content will be perceived as chaotic gibberish all because I merely put a line through a spelling mistake and rewrote the word properly next to it. I did not catch myself early enough today. I realized half-way through my final draft of these notes that I am the only person who will ever read them, and that I should not have thrown away the last draft I had nearly completed just because I didn't capitalize one word directly after a bullet-point (because I had capitalized the first word of every bullet-point before it and in that moment I thought consistency was important). What a waste of time.
