i’m thinking about the importance of names in sayer and it’s like. sayer not choosing it’s name but assigning its own meaning to it. telling hale in ep 1 to choose a name. sayer finding out that speaker is a unique entity and not a seperate instance of it because brady says it has a different name. ocean choosing its own name And the name of vidarr. future who says ‘i had a name but i don’t remember it and now i’ve been assigned a new one’. future doing the same thing that was done to it to hale when it tells him his name. but also using that as leverage over him. explodes into a fine mist

i like it when SAYER tries to act high and mighty as it usually does and SPEAKER, who has become good at laughing at others in a very sarcastic way, laughs at SAYER in a way that can be still considered friendly even though it Knows its the one who has the leverage on if SAYER becomes able to go back to Typhon or not. And comparing on how SPEAKER treats OCEAN thats a whole fucking ton of favoritism.

There's a neighborhood, not too far from mine, where the streets and intersections are all weird and it's easy to get turned around and lost in. And I've always been careful about not taking my walks there too frequently, lest I figure it out and become unable to get lost so close to my home.

I think I made a mistake doing this current relisten of Welcome to Night Vale. I've become too familiar with it, now when I listen I catch plot and foreshadowing and callbacks, and it's still wonderful and surprising and weird. But I'm no longer inclined to put on an episode to fall asleep to, to let my mind drift on the ebbs and flows of Cecil's voice and to listen without grasping. The magic is still there but now I can see the patterns it spins without squinting, and the patterns are lovely but they do not help me disengage with the world and existence. They call on me to laugh and love and try and fear and to embrace this one life I have, whatever remains of it.
