The colors are now showing (for a winter sunset’s that is). It’ll get “orangeir” again as the cold days start to roll by. Excited to see more of this nature’s spectacle in the coming days. This is one of the best things about winter. The same reason why I learned to just hug the season rather than complain about its cons. I was browsing my feed earlier today and was both surprised and dejected that I haven’t posted a sunset photo since I got back from vacation in August. I then vowed to do a few minutes of this mindfulness practice as a necessity before the day concludes. I’m glad I did. Without a doubt, the recent changes in the workplace has demanded more efforts and time than before—to say the least. In spite of the contrary, it’s for the best. More advantages are there while saying “no” is also a must. Whatever this chapter brings, the choice is to embrace it while seeing to it that this view remains an essential part of the routine. I still couldn’t believe I’ve forgotten about it for a few weeks, a couple of months now to be precise. So many lessons. So many realizations. The cycle I know. But it’s the novelty of those before they go full bloom that gets to me. Well, thank you Nature for your perfect timing as always. How can I not notice this simple, free wonder again. It’s day two of the Eid Break. I went to the park after giving in to a two-day clinomania to break the monotony, which I’ve been doing every now and then. I realized just how much of a necessity the latter was—listening deeper into what the body begs for. Other than the greenery around—which is the default subject of my IG hashtag—I found a, I say, cuter and more interactive one. This momentary deviation gave me a different kind of happy pill and lesson. It seems that the multiverse isn’t only depicted in Marvel movies but in small worlds such as these stray cats.’ A whole new, small world (at least for me) out there that needs a little human attention or so at times. I’ve been frequenting the parks in the area since the Stephen King-like days and there’s not one that doesn’t have a space for these lost, and, probably, maltreated felines. What’s heart melting and so satisfying from this activity is seeing the inherent goodness of people. That’s when random visitors in a park share or give food to these domesticated species. Also, when, in the absence of food, these visitors give time instead by playing with them or petting them for a while… I got tempted, many many times, to capture said moments in a photo but I’ve always listened to the part of me that says not to do so. When you get to witness any of those yourself, you’ll also realize that it’s indeed better to leave the receipt right there. There’s big difference between seeing it taking place organically than forcing it to happen in a photo or for a photo. The former is rather more riveting and enlightening. After all, good deeds are meant to be taught not by a photo but by random acts of kindness. Another working week has just been leafed through…See, I’m a fan of capping that kind of week off by having a cuppa joe at the nearest coffee shop or relishing the exquisite nature feat in the photo…doing both, actually, more often than not. Lionizing little things to say the least. I pride myself in saying I can't remember the last time I had nothing to do with my time and that's a good thing, if I may. Being an overseas worker made me embrace solitude more than when I was “elbow grease…ing” in the tropics. It’s moments like this that I feel most connected to my creative self, that I feel most articulate at what I’m good at. You may say at blabbering, but I’d prefer at reinforcing my #brand : to articulate that part of us that must appreciate the little things and the mundanity of life in a world that is spun by instant gratification and misplaced transparency. The latter are the very reasons why most people, yours truly included, lose sight of what is essential one way or the other: (it could be) solitude, privacy, passion, respect, exercise, quality time, tea break, being in the present moment, (even) FARTING (when you’re at home of course), pausing instead of posing, and so forth. So, yeah, I’m simply insisting on doing those things rather than their respective opposites, particularly the last item in the foregoing series. After all, we have to laugh at the stuff that makes us human. I love how the movies “Sex and City” and “Little Fockers” got that fart thing handled on…”Pulp Fiction” for coffee time…”Eat Pray Love” for solitude…You get the drift! In 2020, a friend shared the location of this place with me on Whatsapp, simultaneous with a suggestion to add it to my go-to parks for the habitual ecotherapy sessions. It’s the biggest, cleanest of its kind in the area. Exactly a year ago, I sought comfort from this park. The main reason is because of the decent number of trees standing loftily in the middle and the four sides, along with the well-scythe, vibrant sward. It was a necessity at that time. Thank goodness for their caring canopy! I always get a different brand (from the usual room or office brand) of oxygen from their pores. The one that facilitates an easier breathing. It was exactly what I needed while dealing with the then peculiar quagmire. These were the mementos from my random grip and rip during the ephemeral days of spring earlier this year. Those days when lying under the tree in one of the parks I frequent to is more satisfying than lounging around a coffee shop. It’s just really a relief to see how healthy plants’ leaves and flowers are. Hearing cantillating birds or seeing a dule on a day like this during this time of the year is next level zen environment. I couldn’t help but hark back to that really short period now that life is getting literally and figuratively warming, on a good note of course. Looking on the bright side, the prevailing weather gives us longer days for outdoor activities and more sunshine to bask in.
