some fun facts about Luis and André Peña(his VA) Part Two: Electric Boogaloo
okay so i did one of these that was just from the Nick Apostolides streams(minus the Separate Ways DLC stream(s), THOUGH I DO WANNA WATCH THAT), but now i'm going through other videos of streams and finding out even more stuff that i wanna talk about lol sooooo... PART TWO BABEY
this all is from Twitch Streamer Peralt's charity stream for JDRF UK, in which André is a guest on! it's a fun watch, i recommend the whole video tbh, André gives out a lot of useful life and acting advice and the vibe is just lots of fun. but, these posts are primarily for stuff related to Luis, which is what i'll be cataloguing!
NOW WITH TIMESTAMPS BY REQUEST!
-André considers the role of Luis to be more than just voice acting, more of just full-on acting, since he also did his motion capture, which i find very interesting. i always love hearing the BTS processes of things i enjoy and that's such a cool fact. i'm sure most people know that he did mocap for Luis already, but I like that André doesn't consider his performance as Luis very different from a regular acting role. (timestamp)
-André took the more cheerful aspects of Luis from his own personality. He mentions that he's a relatively happy person himself, but that happiness comes from knowing darkness, and that was just something that he kind of naturally transferred over to Luis, considering Luis's backstory itself is so dark. One of the first things that drew me to Luis in this game was his goofy behavior in a terrifying situation, so i'm thankful for it! (timestamp)
-André also gives a lot of interesting BTS with pointing out the differences in acting mocap vs stage vs onscreen acting. it's not related to Luis per se outside of his relation to André, but it is SUPER fascinating, and you can tell André is really passionate about acting and it makes me appreciate his performance all the more. I can't wait to see him in new roles! (timestamp)
-When asked if there was anything from OG Luis that André took with him as character inspiration/canonicity/whatever else, he mentioned that he tried to take mostly the essence of Rino Romano's voice and mannerisms, and tried to emulate all of that without it being in "bad taste"(in reference to OG Luis being kind of gross toward women), and kind of added more quirkiness as more of his own spin on it. personally i think he did a great job; Luis is still very much a flirt, but he comes across as less of a creep and more just a harmless flirty goofball, which i think threads the needle really well for him as a character! (timestamp)
-(not related to Luis, but André is very adamant that the S in Leon S. Kennedy stands for Sancho, not Scott, which makes me giggle) (timestamp)
-André picked up smoking(again) for the role of Luis! it was also how he practiced Luis's lighter trick(which he clarifies is referred to as 'lighter juggling'); every time he'd have a cig, he made it so he had to do the tricks before he could light it. One of the tricks is called "the Infinity", where you flip the lighter through your fingers in a continuous motion, and there's one where you toss the lighter in the air, and close it as you catch it. He was a smoker growing up, he had stopped, he picked up the habit again for Luis, and then threw his cigs out the second he finished his final scene as Luis. He also clarifies NOT to smoke; he is able to start and stop smoking fairly easily, but that is not the case for most people. As a former smoker myself, i agree: if you dont already smoke, don't pick it up! don't pick up vaping either please!!! (timestamp)
-not related to Luis, but André talks a bit with Peralt(the streamer) about self-defense, martial arts, and alcohol. He tells a story about how he got jumped in a bar by a drunk guy and how his background in self-defense helped there, and talks about the effects of excess alcohol consumption. i keep repeating this, but the stream is a really good one, and i highly recommend watching it yourself! (timestamp)
-Someone asked what André thinks about the Luis and Leon shipping, and I really like his answer. He starts off by clarifying that everyone is allowed to have their headcanons, and there's nothing wrong with shipping in general, and to ship whatever you like. However, for André himself, he used the model of how he and his brother interact for how Luis interacts with Leon. He likes to goad his brother, who he describes as "a hothead" and "like Leon", and so he transferred a lot of that energy into Luis goading and teasing Leon. He played Luis as realizing that he and Leon are stuck together, and he knows Leon won't do anything to really harm Luis, so he put a lot of energy into basically razzing him like one would a sibling. He also finished by once again clarifying that people are allowed to do whatever they want in their own headcanon lol. (some people do get really upset about that stuff!) (timestamp)
-as a quick aside to the above conversation, André mentions that Luis cares SO MUCH about Ashley. When it comes to Leon, Luis is, in André's own words, "a dick to him". Ashley, to Luis, is "pure" - the one thing in the entire scenario that has no business being in this place. With Leon, Luis knows from his uptight demeanor, that he's been through hell before - this guy is stuck with him, in hell, for better or worse. But Ashley is innocent, dragged into this to be a pawn of Saddler's. So he's most concerned with Ashley's safety overall, and André tried to really push that concern and care in his performance. i think it really shows, especially in the scene after the cabin standoff, where Ashley coughs up blood and Luis immediately realizes that she's been infected, and he has to save her. (timestamp)
-During Luis' scene in the vanilla game with Ada(not Separate Ways scenes, although i think this scene is in the dlc too?), André confirms that Luis telling Ada "you should be telling me what a good job i did" is just him trying to make up an excuse of sorts for not having the Amber on him. Small detail, but one i like! (timestamp)
-André once more affirms that Luis is a cat person! He also specifically states, again, that he'd probably start off as not a pet person, but he'd probably get adopted by a stray cat, who he'd leave out food for but eventually let into his home, and that'd begin his love for cats. He also mentions that actors have to think about things like this, to flesh out their characters, which makes me wonder what other headcanons he has for Luis! (tbf tho, i've been wondering this since i watched André's unboxing of the Luis jacket he got commissioned for cosplay, and he mentioned that Luis loves spice) (timestamp)
-in the end, the stream raised a bit shy of 1k for the charity JDRF, which is super awesome!!!! i am several months late but congrats to Peralt's community for making that happen!!!
that was all i managed to find out about Luis specifically, but if i missed anything, feel free to add on in a comment! sometimes it's hard to hear with so many people talking and so much going on, but i'm enjoying learning about Luis outside of the game itself like this :D i'm planning on watching André's streams, the rest of Nick's streams, Nicole Tompkins'(Jill Valentine's VA) streams with André as a guest, and anymore i can find, so if i mind out more stuff about Luis from these vids, yall can expect more of these hahaha!

So I'm reading the new Guardiola book by Marti Perarnau and it has some really interesting thoughts that I'll leave here
-Named Sancho, Brahim Diaz, and Foden as the great academy players when he first arrived
-Wanted to sign Laporte in his first transfer window but the club only allowed 5 signings for that window
-Thought that Stones was a hell of a player at 21, but thought that for him to reach his potential he probably needed a Puyol next to him *cough* Ruben Dias *cough*

Super Sancho (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Super Sancho!!!!
Summary - A 10 part series where we follow Jadon Sancho on his journey to the Netherlands in hopes of improving his football performance.
Enjoy!
Ten Hag gave him two choices, either he'd  go to the Netherlands and improved what he lacked, or get ready to get transferred during the next window. Jadon chose the latter, but only because he knew that he hadn't really proven himself in Manchester. Instead of letting his teammates down further he decided that it was better to leave.
"Ladies and gentlemen this is you captain speaking..." Jadon woke up to the dimmed light zipping through his passenger window. "...we'll soon be approaching Amsterdam. Please return to your seats, fastened your seatbelts and prepare for landing. And Thank you for flying Birtish Airways."
Although it had only been a nintey minute flight from Manchester to Amsterdam, Jadon found himself exhausted from the journey. He looked forward to a hot shower once he arrived at his hotel.
"Mr Sancho?"
Someone called his name in the arrivals pit. It was a woman, wearing a suit and tie and holding up a sign with his name written on it. A smile baruaden her lips as Jadon approached her.
"Hello Mr Sancho, I'm Emily. I'll be taking you to the Ajax training grounds where you'll get settled in."
"We're headed for the training grounds right away?" Jadon asked, the fatigue from the planeride still weighing heavily on his eyelids.
"Well yes of course." Emily said. She didn't hesitate to take his bag, leading Jadon towards a black Volkswagen Transporter.
"Have you ever been to the Netherlands before?" She asked as they left the airport and took to the highway.
"No." Jadon muttered. Outside his window he approached a city he had never stepped foot in, a country he never thought he'd visit without a whole team accompanying him. The feeling was uneasy, just like it had been when he first arrived at Dortmund. Surprisingly, arriving at Manchester had been different. He knew Manchester. English football had been his youth. English football was his life and his home where he had friends and family. How could it all have gone to shit when the feeling had been so great when he first arrived to the team? He was supposed to do great in Manchester, Jadon thought.
"Well you'll love it here." Emily said, keeping her eyes steady on the road.
It had only been a twenty minute drive from the airport to the Ajax training grounds. It was a nice facility, not as nice as Manchester Uniteds, but still impressive.
"You can take your luggage with you to your room..." Nice, Jadon thought. He'd finally be able to catch up on some sleep. "...There you can change into a suitable fitness for the test that you'll undergo in the teams medical center."
"Undergo what, in the what?" Jadon said, quite dumbfounded.
Emily nodded assuringly. "The coaches are ready for you once you've changed."
"But...sleep." He muttered, however the reality seemed to be that Ten Hag really hadn't sent him on a vacation if that's what he thought. After undergoing several fitness procedures and check ups, Jadon were to speak with an Ajax assistant coach about his newfound struggles.
"Well Mr Sancho. All I can recommend is that you work closely with your foster coach and really tell him about the areas you think you lack in."
"My foster what?" Jadon frowned. "I thought you would be my new coach."
"Who me?" The man laughed. Like Ten Hag he was balled. Middle-aged and balled. They even shared the same dry sense of humor, Jadon thought.
"I'm afraid Erik was right when he said that you were a special case that needed special attention and treatment."
"Special attention?" Jadon exclaimed. Did Ten Hag think that he was disabled or something. No, Jadon wouldn't stand for it. He had not come all this way to be told he needed special treatment and attention by some foster coach. What is a foster coach anyway?
"Yes, special attention. Hendrik loves cases like yours."
"Henrik?" Jadon frowned. In that moment he really felt confused and crazy. Perhaps he was in need of some special attention?
"Yes, Hendrik. I'll send him your data the test you underwent here today. I'll send them right away. Hendrik will have gone through them by the time you get to Ursem tomorrow morning."
"Ursem? Tomorrow morning? Wait, I'm leaving again? I thought I was supposed to stay here?"
"At Ajax?" The coach frowned. He shook his head looking almost frightened. "We don't deal with special cases here. Didn't Erik tell you that?"
"He didn’t tell me anything."
"Well good luck to you then. The training camp in Ursem is very special, not for the faint-hearted. But I'm sure you'll do fine."
Jadon could only bat his eyes in astonishment. Everything the assistant coach was telling him seemed to be true. He wasn't to stay with AFC Ajax and train with their under 21 team which he initially thought was Ten Hag's intentions. No, Jadon was to be put on a bus and shipped off to another camp. This place called Ursem. Where a coach with experience of coaching ballers with special needs lived.
"What a disaster." Jadon thought, as he slumped down in his seat, surrendering to the movement of the bus that would take him even further away from home, further away from Manchester United.

Recruiting the recruiter: United set to land star academy boss
Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal with Cardiff City and Ben Clarke, Head of Academy Recruitment at the club.
Tumblr media
Ben Clarke. Photo courtesy of LinkedIn. --- Football Insider landed the exclusive story through writer Pete O'Rourke, and the reports are that the move is being driven by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his imminent arrival as a shareholder in Manchester United.
Rumours are already circulating about a 25% stake in the club that Ratcliffe may have managed to acquire, as well as talk about Paul Mitchell being brought in as a Sporting Director or Director of Football. Mitchell is highly rated, having been Head of Recruitment for Southampton and Spurs in their most successful periods in recent years, and more recently working for Leipzig and Monaco.
The acquisition of Ben Clarke would tie in with hiring Mitchell, and with Ratcliffe pushing for an overhaul of United's senior and youth recruitment - at a time where United are slowly improving their transfers but still experiencing great wastage: Maguire, Sancho and Antony all being overvalued or underperforming, just to name a few.
United's academy has produced a few starlets lately. Garnacho was a late addition to the academy, but the likes of Mainoo, Hannibal, Gore and Alvaro Fernandez have been through the system a bit longer. There's undoubtedly value to develop talent rather than splash the cash to acquire it, but this could be an anomaly though.
United's - and Ratcliffe's - challenge is to continue this academy productivity. If Clarke could match or even increase the number of talents being developed at any one time then perhaps we could see a new generation gatecrashing the senior side, ala 1992. Here's hoping.

Sancho's Deal Hinges on CL Qualification
Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho return to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United in January marked a turning point in his career. The move came in the wake of a tumultuous fallout with United's manager Erik ten Hag last September, resulting in Sancho's exile from the first-team setup for refusing to apologize.
Recent reports indicate that Sancho is prepared to bide his time with United, especially considering the uncertain future surrounding ten Hag's tenure, particularly with the team mathematically out of contention for a top-four finish. Speculation looms over potential changes in management this summer, adding an element of intrigue to Sancho's future with the Red Devils.
Despite his desire to return to Manchester and make an impact, Sancho recognizes the need for significant improvement in his performances. Should ten Hag remain in charge next season, it's likely that Sancho will be loaned out or even sold permanently. However, determining his market value poses a challenge for United, given the significant gulf between his transfer fee in 2021 (£73 million) and his current situation.
As the football world eagerly awaits the unfolding chapters of Sancho's story, his time at Dortmund serves as both a platform for redemption and a period of uncertainty, with his future at Manchester United hanging in the balance.
Dortmund's Ambition: Securing Jadon Sancho's Long-Term Future
The 24-year-old has scored three goals and created two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions for the Black and Yellow.
Sancho also struck the opener against RB Leipzig with a stunning effort on Saturday but Dortmund went on to lose 4-1 at the Red Bull Arena.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga giants are very keen to retain the winger’s services beyond the summer.
But United are expected to demand a huge fee to let the England international, who cost them £73 million to sign in 2021, leave Old Trafford in the next transfer window.
Dortmund could reportedly struggle to meet the Red Devils demands if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
They need to secure European football to make Sancho’s loan move permanent this summer.
The German outfit are currently fifth in the Bundesliga standings with five points behind Leipzig.
With four games remaining in the season, Edin Terzic’s side are very unlikely to finish in the top-four.
But they could still secure Champions League football as the Bundesliga are likely to receive an extra spot in next year’s revamped edition of the tournament.
Dortmund can also boost their qualification chances by beating Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final of the European tournament next month.Stay updated with daily content, news, transfer updates, and podcasts on Manchester United by subscribing to the Mufc Realist TV YouTube Channel. Olise and Branthwaite made Man Utd's priority transfer targets by Ineos
Micahel Olise and Jarrad Branthwaite are high on Ineos’ list of transfer targets this summer window as Manchester United prepare for an overhaul, FootballTransfers has been told.
The Crystal Palace star is open to an Old Trafford switch and personal terms are not expected to be a problem. FootballTransfers understands that the winger has a release clause of around £60m in his deal, which any club can activate.
The performances of Antony this year - as well as the likelihood that Erik ten Hag will be let go in the summer - mean that the club are on the lookout for an attacker on the right to become a starter next season.
There is still uncertainty about Jadon Sancho and his future, especially with Ten Hag’s probable departure, but Ineos do not wish to leave it to chance. As reported previously, Marcus Edwards of Sporting CP is another option for Man Utd. The club value him at around €41 million (£35m).
Olise has admirers at Chelsea and Liverpool but it’s a move to Man Utd that he’s the most receptive to, with Ineos looking to inject significant funds into the club's transfer kitty.
How much will Jarrad Branthwaite cost?
Meanwhile, Everton’s financial woes mean that they may have to sell some of their biggest assets, regardless of whether they remain in the Premier League or not.
Branthwaite has been a target for Manchester United for a considerable period - FootballTransfers reported their initial interest back in August - while there are those among Ineos who also believe that he would make an ideal signing for the new project.
There is an expectancy that Branthwaite will become one of England’s starting men in the coming years, while he has already proved himself to be one of the top-performing defenders playing in the Premier League today. Around €88m (£75m) should see a deal complete but the 21-year-old will not be short of suitors.

EPL: Man Utd to terminate Sancho’s contract
Manchester United may terminate Jadon Sancho’s contract, according to Sky Sports. This could happen as a result of a new strategy on culture and recruitment under incoming minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe’s INEOS group will emphasise the development of a more positive working culture and adopt a more ruthless approach to finding exit routes for players who fail to fit with the club’s ethos. United would rather terminate contracts of such players than hold out to extract transfer value. United have struggled in this area recently, with Sancho’s exile coming months after the protracted handling of the Mason Greenwood case. INEOS and Ratcliffe are big admirers of how Arsenal have turned around their sporting culture by cancelling the contracts of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe in recent seasons.
