"I'll always find you"
Part Two
Tumblr media
Fandom: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Pairings: Ravi x Reader, implied Pip x Connor Warnings: Kidnapping, jealousy, neglectance, sad Ravi, sad Pip (I’m sorry, I love her too), angst. Summary: Set in the second book (kind of, only small mentions), but Pip is not the only one receiving warnings. Ravi ignores it until he loses his girlfriend who he had neglected to prove Sal’s innocence.
Part One …
It has been a few months since Y/N has arrived home. She hadn’t contacted anyone since she arrived. Of course everyone knew. Both Pip, Cara and Ravi had been trying to contact her.
So far, she had 158 text messages and 93 missed calls from Ravi. Every time he called, she would stare. She wanted to answer it, but she couldn’t manage it.
At school, she couldn’t look at anyone. They were always staring. She resorted to eating her lunch in the school washroom, but it didn’t matter because Pip had started eating her lunch to keep Y/N company.
She hadn’t heard from Becca, but she was filled in on all the fun she missed thanks to Pip’s podcast. She still couldn’t wrap her head around what happened with Becca. She missed Bee. …
Y/N walked into the dining room to find her family sitting for breakfast. They all tensed when she sat at the table.
“Did I miss something?” she asked.
“No…,” her mother said quietly, “It’s just that Nisha and Mohan came by yesterday. Ravi’s not well.”
“Why?” Y/N’s breath was lost. “What’s wrong with him?”
“What’s not wrong with him?” her brother muttered to himself.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Y/N turned to her mother.
“He wants to see you,” Y/N averted her eyes. “He refuses to eat and he’s locked himself in his room.” …
And so Y/N found herself on the Singh’s doorstep. She heaved a breath and lifted her hand to the door. She gently knocked twice. Not too loud to seem invasive, but not too quiet for them not to hear.
Nisha opened the door. Her expression was a bit like her mother’s when she looked at her. Teary eyes, quivering chin and shifting stare. She lifted her arms out to ask Y/N for a hug. Y/N abided. Her caring arms reminded Y/N of her mother’s as well.
“Come in, come in,” Mohan said as he approached the two hugging figures.
Y/N and Nisha let go of each other and stepped into the house. Mohan gave Y/N a side hug.
“He’s upstairs,” Nisha said.
Y/N smiled and found her way up their wooden steps and to Ravi’s room. She knocked.
“Do you want to build a snowman?" She sang.
“Go away," his voice was heard.
“Okay, bye," She sang once more.
The door opened and revealed the one and only ravishing Ravi Singh.
“I’m joking, he said. “Come in."
Y/N followed him in his room. It was a mess. Other than his bed, his clothes were thrown everywhere.
A framed picture of them laid on his bed. He wore his graduation clothes with one arm around her and the other holding the camera while she had her arms around him and kissing his cheek.
He lay on his bed.
“Ravi, have you eaten?"
“I’m waiting on you," he said. “We’re supposed to go to that cafe you like."
Y/N sat on his bed and reached for his hand, which he gladly gave her.
“What happened?"
“You mean with Bee. Pip covered that on her podcast."
“No," she said. “With us.
“I can’t answer that, I am sorry for neglecting you and it is completely my fault," he glanced at her with his kind eyes. “I got a warning to stop or someone I cared about would be hurt. I didn’t listen and that person was you. I’m just sorry. I thought if I distanced myself from you, you would be in the clearing. I didn’t worry about Pip ‘cause she had Connor.
“That's not what I expected but I completely understand," Y/N could feel the tears burning her eyes. “I just wish you told me sooner."
“N/N, if we could do it all again and you knew why," he paused. “Would you stay?"
“In any alternative, I’d stay."
Ravi got up to kiss her hair. She lifted her arms to his neck and pulled him down for his lips to meet hers.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Sal Singh x reader
Description: You saved Sal from his own murder.
Warning ⚠️ : Spoilers to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Tumblr media
You didn’t know Sal Singh, and he didn’t know you. You were two strangers that happened to go to the same school and be in the same grade. You guys never cross paths except making casual eye contact during passing periods, lunch, study hall, gym class, and volleyball games, but never anywhere else.
It was honestly weird that you never interacted with him, seeing how he was one of the most popular and liked boys in school. Even your friends have talked to him and are friends with his friends but not you. Sometimes you wonder why everyone liked him, especially since his girlfriend is the most hated person in the school. Maybe that was why you never spoke to him because Andie Bell is his girlfriend.
You had nothing against her, but you knew she was trouble. She leaked Nat da Silva’s nudes, bullied her sister, and if you weren’t wrong, from what you've seen, she is a cheater. That made you feel bad for Sal and anyone involved in her life.
2 Days before the murder.
Y/N pov
“So, are you going to Max’s party?” Elisha asked as she tossed the ball.
“Nah, staying home,” I shrugged and tossed the ball back to her.
Elisha frowns and gives the ball to the manager.
"Come on; you've never been to one of his parties," she whines.
“Smoking weed and binge drinking isn’t my thing,” I said. “Besides, I get bad vibes from him.”
Elisha rolled her eyes at me and went to ask the other girls.
I chuckled and looked over at our student section; many people were there. Mainly the boys are here to support their girlfriends. I continued to scan the benches until my eyes landed on a familiar pair of brown eyes. It was Sals. He was here with Max Hastings and Naomi Ward, but no Andie Bell in sight. Sal must have noticed me staring at him and his friends, so he smiled, causing me to look away immediately.
1 Day before the murder.
Today was weird. It has only been the 4th period, and I have already seen enough.
It was during lunchtime when everyone was eating in the cafeteria. I stayed behind in the study hall to finish a project when I decided to get a snack from the vending machine. The vending machine happens to be right across from Mr. Ward’s classroom. So imagine my surprised face when I was trying to buy a bag of Cheetos but overheard Mr. Ward and a student talking inappropriately. At first, I thought my ear was playing tricks on me because ain’t no way Mr. Ward was like that, so I assumed it was an affair with another teacher until I saw the person walking past me. It was Andie Bell.
After that, I couldn’t focus for the rest of the day. My mind was filled with so many questions. I often overheard from Andie’s friends that she was seeing an older man behind Sal’s back, but I didn’t think he was this old and someone close to me.
I walked out of history class confused and disgusted. I hope Naomi never finds out about this. I can already tell she dislikes Andie; imagine when she finds out about the inappropriate relationship between her dad and her best friend's girlfriend, she would be embarrassed.
I was making my way to my locker when I spotted Elisha and Max Hasting flirting in front of it. Great, now I have to deal with Hasting too? Can this day get any better?
“Y/N, Max and I were just talking about you!” Elisha says when she spots me coming towards them.
“And I was just talking to myself about how he is spreading STDs on my locker!” I exclaimed.
Elisha rolls her eyes playfully, and he smirks at me. How gross.
“Max was saying you should come to his party tomorrow!” She says while eyeing Max for his attention.
“Ahum, I rather not,” I said and started putting my books back into my locker.
“Why not?” Max asked. “Give it a try,” he said and nudged my arm playfully.
I shook my head and looked behind him to see Sal and Mr. Ward talking outside his classroom.
“Hey, does Mr. Ward tutor Sal?” I asked.
Max follows my eyes and turns around to see what I am looking at before looking back at me.
“Yeah, he’s helping him get into Yale; why?” Max asked.
“Does he only do it for him?” I asked, wondering if he was helping Andie too.
“Probably, he’ll help you if you ask him… kindly,” Max said, a little too flirty with the last word.
“Oh Nah, I don’t plan on going to Yale,” I said and was about to drag Elisha away from him until Max called Sal over.
Sal looked our way and immediately had a confused look on his face wondering why I was talking to Max. Everyone knew I never showed interest in anything Max had to say.
Sal says bye to Mr. Ward, and I watch as Ward sighs, more like a relief sigh, before walking back into his classroom.
“Hey,” Sal says when he reaches us. I awkwardly stood there, fidgeting with the string of my backpack.
“Elisha, let’s go,” I immediately said, trying to avoid being seen by Andie.
Sal and Max stare at me, and I glance at Max, who is smirking.
“Leaving too soon? Aren’t you going to ask Sal about his conversation with Mr. Ward?” Max asked.
I want to slap that smirk off of his face. Something about his face shouts annoying and disgusting.
“You were asking about me?” Sal asked, his voice noticeably surprised that I mentioned him.
“Ahum, I was just asking if Mr. Ward tutors you, that’s all,” I said and grabbed Elisha’s hand, who was refusing to go with me.
“Oh yeah, he does; he’s great at it,” Sal says with an innocent smile.
I nodded without saying a word and pulled Elisha with me.
“Gotta go,” I blurted out before anyone could further the conversation and rushed off.
“I’ll see you at the party tomorrow Max!” Elisha shouts back.
“Are you going alone?” I asked Elisha.
“Yeah, since someone decided not to go with me,” Elisha whines.
She then looks at me and gives me the puppy doll's eyes.
If only I knew going there was going to change my life forever.
The Day of Andie Bell’s murder
“Omg, Y/N! You look hot!” Elisha says as soon as she sees me walk out. I chuckle, trying not to be embarrassed that Elisha’s dress was too short for me. It was also tight, but she said that was the point of the dress; to make my curves stand out.
“You promise you won’t drink a lot, right? And we need to leave by 12:00,” I warned Elisha.
She nodded and saluted me before she started checking the inside of her purse. “Oh crap, I forgot my lipstick!” Elisha shouted before holding out one finger and rushing inside her house.
I checked myself on my snap and started recording my outfit before turning the camera so that everyone could see the moonlight; it was a full moon today.
I re-watched my snap and saved it before noticing someone else in the frame. Andie?
I saw her blonde locks bouncing on her shoulder as she walked on another side of the street and typed aggressively on her phone. Is she also going to the party, but why would she walk?
I then realized what neighborhood I was in. Naomi lives in this neighborhood, meaning Mr.Ward is also around here. Don’t tell me Andie is meeting him right now; that is gross and creepy.
I contemplated following her to see if she was going there, but I also had another person to take care of tonight.
“Okay, we got to go,” Elisha says excitedly, and we get into her mom’s car.
As we were driving down the street, I grabbed my phone and secretly recorded Andie, just in case she decided to pull another trick and leak somebody’s private info.
“What are you doing?” Elisha asked, wondering why I had my phone brightness on low and recording the window.
“Just recording the moon, eyes on the road!” I said.
8 minutes later.
We reached the party, but it was a little too crowded for me. A couple of the cheerleaders and football players were there, and a couple of people I recognized from school were there. Most of the girls had a drink in their hands, but it was weird that the guys didn’t because, usually, it was the opposite.
I looked at one of the guys I recognized as Jaime; I did not expect him to be there since he was always quiet. He must have noticed me staring because his face turned red, and he immediately got occupied with his phone. I chuckle, seeing how shy he is.
“Hey, you both came!!” Max shouted when we walked into the house. I almost gagged when I smelled a mixture of alcohol and weed. Gosh, how does Max get away with this?
“Wow, Max said as he was looking at me.” I glared at him and tugged at my dress to pull it down.
“You girls dressed up just for me,” he said excitedly. “You both deserve a drink.”
Elisha giggles and drags me along to follow Max into his kitchen.
Max started mixing two cups, and I looked around the kitchen. It was a pretty decent place, not big but not small either. It was also hard not to look at the couple making out on the counter since they hardly talked in class. I guess alcohol can do things to people.
“Here, one for you and one for you,” Max said, handing us our drink.
I watch as Max smirks when he stares at our cups, and I immediately nudge Elisha, enough to the point where she loses balance and her drink tips over.
“What the heck Y/N,” Elisha whines like the baby.
“Ops, I’m so clumsy,” I chuckled and decided to pour my drink down the drain. “Since you spilled your drink, it’s only fair for me not to drink,” I said.
“Nonsense, let me make you girls another drink,” Max suggested, and while he was preoccupied with that, I dragged Elisha away from him.
“What was that for?” Elisha asked angrily.
“I think Max was trying to drug us,” I whispered.
Elisha rolls her eyes. “You read too many murder novels; he’s a good guy.”
“No, you don’t understand,” I whispered. “The look in his eyes when he handed us those drinks,” I said.
Elisha refuses to believe me. “I am going to find Max and apologize to him that my best friend is a dumbass,” she says and walks away.
I hate when she does this.
I needed some fresh air, so I walked into Max's backyard, filled with two people smoking and two couples making out in the corner. I pulled out my phone and checked the time; we still had about an hour till we got to go back home, making things worse. I went and sat down on the bench that was a little away from everyone under a big oak tree. Surprisingly no one was occupying the bench; instead, they were standing around. Probably too drunk or high to notice it.
“I am not doing this with you anymore, Andie,” I heard someone say behind me, and I knew precisely to who the voice belonged.
It sounded like he was talking behind the trees.
“No, I can’t stand the drama. We have been over for almost a month, and I hate that you still tell people we are together.”
I can feel the frustration coming out of him. It was honestly a little sad how frustrated and angry he sounded. Imagine when he finds out that she is at Mr. Ward’s house. Hopefully, soon so that he won’t have to be caught up in her lies anymore.
“I am hanging up; I am not doing this with you right now.” He said, and I heard the beep sound followed by an exhale.
I bite my lips nervously, feeling like I had just invaded his personal life. It wasn’t like it was my fault that he was talking at the spot where I happened to be. If anything, it was his fault for talking outside where there were people.
I heard his foot moving; the dry autumn leaves making crunchy noise with every step he took. I heard it stop as it was coming near me and felt a presence behind me. It wasn’t a scary presence, though. He probably won’t know it was me; he was probably annoyed that someone had heard his conversation. Most likely, he will glare at me and walk away. He might also think I am a weirdo for listening to something priv-
“Y/N?” I heard the soft, yet deep voice says.
I- ok, I guess he did recognize me?
I turned and acted surprised to see him.
“Oh, hi, Sal,” I said awkwardly.
Sal stares at me, and he looks at my outfit.
“Can I sit?” He asked, looking down at the empty spot next to me.
I nodded, and Sal sat down, taking off his leather jacket and revealing the long black sleeve he wore.
He then placed the leather jacket on my lap, covering my legs.
“You looked cold,” he said. I nodded, realizing he wasn’t staring at my body but was staring at how I was shivering.
Sal started fidgeting with his hands, and I realized he was anxious, probably wondering if I had overheard his conversation with Andie.
“I won’t tell anyone,” I said while staring ahead. It was now only me, Sal, and a guy who was too high even to know he was in someone’s backyard.
“It’s not about that; I just don’t want you to think bad of me,” he says while playing with his hands.
“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that; I already know how Andie is,” I said and checked to see if I had gotten any message from Elisha yet.
“Still..” he sighs and leans back on the bench.
He felt terrible for Andie and their break up. I am not a therapist or someone who knows everything about a relationship, but it is obvious that Sal wasn’t happy. The constant sighs when he sees Andie being rude to others, the continual argument when she sees him talk to his female friends, and the continuous turning away when he sees Andie walking towards him are clear signs that he is in a toxic relationship.
“Sal, I don’t think anyone would judge you if you break up with Andie,” I said, trying not to overstep my line. “I don’t know her personally, but from what I have seen, I am not a massive fan of her. She bullies others for pleasure; I mean, look what she did to poor Nat.” I said, clearly still angry about the situation.
“I don’t even know if I can call what we had a relationship because all we did was argue,” he chuckles and shakes his head while looking down at the ground.
I smiled and then reached for my phone; the time was up.
“Hey, I have to go check on my friend. We are supposed to leave,” I said while standing up and handing Sal his jacket back.
Sal stood up with me, and I now noticed our height difference. We were never this close. Never close enough to know how much taller he was, but today, we were close enough for me to realize that he was tall and for once I'll admit that Andie Bell had a taste when it comes to guys.
“I’ll walk you inside,” he said, looking slightly worried. I was sure he seemed hesitant about me walking around in my dress. Maybe he noticed those guys with us in the backyard; perhaps he saw their eyes lingering too long.
“Okay,” I said and was going to hand him his jacket, but he grabbed it out of my hand and put it on my shoulder.
We walked back into the house quietly; some people had already left, but most were still on the couch taking shots and smoking weed. I noticed Sal’s nose shifted slightly in disgust when he smelled the room. That was probably why he decided to stay outside.
“Have you seen Elisha?” I asked a girl I recognize from my Biology class. She looked between Sal and me, and I knew she would spread some rumor.
“I saw her a couple of seconds ago going upstairs with Max,” she said and started to drink from her cup before I snatched it out of her and threw it on the floor.
“What the fuc-“ she didn’t get to finish because I interrupted her.
“It’s drugged; I suggest you go home,” I told her and started running upstairs, followed by Sal.
“His room is over here,” Sal said and tried to open the door, but it was locked. “Max open the door right now!”
Sal banged on the door angrily before he lost patience and kicked open the door instead.
Max was on his knees while Elisha was on the bed; passed out. I ran over to Elisha, whereas Sal dragged Max by the collar. “Are you fucken kidding me, Max!”
I hurriedly pull Elisha’s underwear back on, trying to fight back the tears. I then checked on her pulse and let out a sigh of relief. She was ok; she didn’t overdose or anything. She also wasn’t bleeding, so I wasn’t too late, but still, I need to make sure she gets checked tomorrow…just in case.
“Get off of me Sal!” Max yelled while Sal continued to punch him. I gasped when I saw Max’s bruised face. “What the fuck were you thinking!”Sal yelled and was about to throw another punch when I called his name. Sal paused and turned to look at me; he then looked at Elisha before giving Max another decent punch.
“Please, Sal, I need your help,” I mumbled, trying my best not to look at the blood coming from Max’s mouth. Sal’s face seemed to calm down when he saw how frightened I was. He walked over to me, and I looked at his bruised hands. He then hugged me and laid his head on top of mine. “I am sorry for scaring you,” he said. We stayed like that for a couple of seconds before I whispered, “Elisha.”
Sal let go of me and went over to pick up Elisha in bridle style; she shifted a little causing me to be more relieved. I give Max the dirtiest look, warning him that I wasn’t finished with him yet.
After locating Elisha’s car key, Sal placed her in the back seat and covered her bottom up with the spare blanket in her car. He then got in the passenger seat while I prepared to drive. “I am calling the cops,” Sal says as he looks up at the window to Max’s room.
We drove to my place since it was closer, and I didn’t want Elisha’s parents to be mad at her. My parents were also away for the weekend coincidentally and won’t be back till tomorrow, so we got lucky.
“Thank you, Sal,” I said as I gripped the steering wheel.
Sal watched my hand and then looked back at Elisha. “I apologize; I must have wasted your time outside,” he said, guilt written on his face. “No, it’s my fault; I should’ve stayed by her side.”
“Max,” he exhaustedly sighs and put his hands on his face. “I thought he was my friend; I wouldn’t have hung with him if I knew; I promise I am not like that, Y/N. I didn’t know he would do such a disgusting thing. I can never forgive him for this.” He says angrily.
It is obvious that Sal didn’t know anything about this, and he thought I was secretly judging him since he had been friends with Max for a while. It also surprises me how much he cares about my opinions about him. “It is not your fault Sal.” I said.
5 minutes later.
We reached my house, and it was almost 1 in the morning. We didn’t reach the curfew as planned, but Max’s beat-up face was enough. Sal called the cops on our way back to my house, and several cops passed by us. Although they might put Max in jail for drinking, I knew we needed solid evidence that he would assault girls. That will have to wait till Elisha gets up.
Sal placed Elisha on the bed and I covered her with my blanket. She was safe now… I exhaled, finally relieved that we had made it back safely to my room.
“Thank you Sal.” I said, and he nodded.
Sal then awkwardly looks around my room and stares at the numerous books on my shelves and the posters on the wall. I saw a slight smile when his eyes fell on the Attack on Titan poster. “You must love reading,” Sal says.
“I do it in my free time.”
He nodded and followed me out of my room. I turn off the light and close the door. Sal pulled out his phone and caught a glimpse of the numerous text and missed calls from Andie. I saw the 1 hour ago near the message before he turned off his phone and sighed. He looked frustrated again.
“Someone told Andie that I got in the car with you,” he said and started walking down the stairs. I followed him.
“I’m sorry,” I said apologetically. It was already hard that she stopped him from breaking things off, but now I added fuel to the fire.
“Don’t be… maybe now she’ll get the hint on why I don’t like her,” he chuckles.
I nodded and followed him outside. “I would offer to take you home, but Elisha is alone.”
“Nah, my home is a couple of blocks away,” he shrugs.
“Oh really?” I acted surprised. I didn't want him to know I had seen him outside mowing the lawn with his brother on my way back from the grocery store.
“Yeah, thanks for listening to my pep talk today,” he said and scratched the nonexisting inch on the back of his neck. “No, thank you, Sal, for helping me.”
“If you need anything tomorrow with Elisha, holler at me. I live just a few blocks down,” he said and pointed down the street.
I nodded, and he smiled at me before awkwardly waving goodbye, and I watched him jog down the street.
The Day of the Interrogating
It was all over social media. Andrea Bell was missing. There was numerous post from her friends about how sad they were and what they were doing to look for her. There were also posts about theories on her missing. Some say she ran away for attention; some say she ran away with a guy; some say she was playing a prank, and worst, some say she was murdered. According to social media, police were interviewing people who might have seen her last night, but there was still no luck finding her.
“It was that son of a bitch, Max Hasting!” Elisha frustratedly yelled as she threw her pillow across the room. I glared at her and shook my head.
“Andie wasn’t there yesterday, and Sal called the cops when we were heading back, so if she were there, the cops would’ve seen her.”
Elisha bit her lips and tried not to throw another object across her messing room. This morning, when she woke up, she was confused. When she asked me why she was in my room, I told her everything that happened last night, causing her to ball her eyes out and cuss at herself. We then went to the emergency room, where she got checked, and luckily, the nurse said she has OK and nothing had happened to her last night. The nurse then suggested we go to the cops, and we did, but now they were too busy with Andie Bell to deal with Max Hasting.
“Elisha, should we go talk to Sal?” I asked.
“Why, do you think he has something to do with this?” she asked.
Immediately, I shook my head, knowing damn well Sal was not why Andie was missing.
“It's because they usually suspect the significant others first,” I said worriedly.
“Oh, your right!” Elisha says and jumps off her bed. “Come, we need to go and stand up for him!”
I nodded and watched as Elisha put on some lipstick and fixed her outfit before spraying herself with perfume.
“What?” She asked when she caught me staring at her in disbelief.
I shook my head and dragged her out of her room.
10 minutes later
We reached Sal’s house, and there were already three police cars. Damn, they beat me to it.
I knocked on their door, and a couple of seconds later, it swung open. There stood a boy who looked like Sal but was a little shorter than him. This must be Sal’s little brother, whom I saw a couple of years ago; he was all grown now.
“Can I help you?” He asked.
“Is Sal home?” I asked.
The boy just stared at me and nodded.
“He’s talking to the police right now,” the boy says and looks between Elisha and me.
“Oh, do you know when they’ll be done?” I asked.
The boy shrugged but opened the door for us and gestured for us to come in. “You guys can wait for him in the living room, but my parents are here too.”
Elisha and I awkwardly walked into the living room to see two worried adults sitting anxiously on the couch. When they noticed us, they were confused but stood up to shake our hands anyways.
“We are a friend of Sal,” I said. “My name is Y/N, and this is Elisha.”
They introduced themselves as Mohan and Nisha and asked us to sit down. I watched as Sal’s brother went to sit down next to his mom and held her shaking hand.
“Sal didn't do it,” I blurted out, and they all looked over at me. I gulped and tried my best not to make things awkward.
“He was with me last night.” Ok, that came out weird.
“I meant we saw each other at Max’s Hasting’s party, and he helped me get Elisha to my house, and then I watched Sal run home,” I said and watched as Nisha's muscles relaxed.
“I know our son didn't do it, but I doubt the cops believe that,” Mohan sighed. “It makes things worse that we are foreigners.”
I nodded, knowing where they were coming from. It was more convenient for people to blame darker skin tones than lighter ones.
“I can tell the cops,” I said. “I promise I'll have Sal’s back.”
Twenty minutes later, Sal and the cops finally came out of his room. Sal was surprised to see Elisha and me sitting in his living room. Whereas the cops were glaring at us.
“Sal was with Elisha and me last night, the time you guys wrote that Andie might have been kidnapped or murdered,” I said, glancing over at Sal at the mention of murder. It was obvious that it still affected him, although they weren’t dating anymore.
“His phone shows that he was on the phone with Andie last night, and she was calling and texting him several times.” The cop says, not precisely buying my story.
“I heard them talking on the phone at Max's house, but that was not even 12. Since you looked at his phone history, you would know. And she texted him and called him one hour before he left my house, so it must be during that time when he was at my home that something happened to her.” I said. Sal seemed to be glad that I was backing him up, but still, he didn’t want me to get involved.
“And how should we know that you’re not lying?” The cops continues to push.
“Because I have prove.” I smirked and pulled out my phone. I showed them the camera footage of Sal leaving my house around 1:45, and he was running down the opposite of Andie Bell’s street.
The cops noted that, and I bit my lips, wondering if I should tell them about another thing.
“For now, you’re off the hook,” the cops glared at me before he nodded his head at Sal and walked out.
What exactly is the cops problem?
“Thank you, Y/N,” Sal said, and I sat back down and made some space for him to sit.
“Well. What I said was all true,” I shrugged.
Mr. and Mrs. Singh smiled at me, and I watched as Sal’s brother’s eyes flickered between Sal and me.
“So…” the brother smirked. “What is going on between you two?” he asked, making sure to point precisely at Sal and me and not Elisha and Sal.
“What are you talking about?” Sal asked.
“Hmm, she said you were at her house past midnight, bro,”
“It was to help my drunk ass, sorry!” Elisha blurted out.
I looked over at her, relieved that she was kind of being honest and saving my butt.
“Have you tried calling Andie again?” Nisha asked Sal. He checked his phone and shook his head. “I tried several times, but she won’t answer.”
I can tell that he is blaming himself for this. In his mind, if he didn't miss Andie’s calls, they wouldn't be in this position.
“I’m sure they’ll find her,” I said and put a hand on his shoulder.
I felt Sal’s shoulder tense up from the unannounced contact, so I immediately pulled my hands away.
“I-I should get going,” I awkwardly said and stood up with Elisha.
“I'll walk you guys out,” Sal said. “And I’ll watch you guys out,” his brother smirked.
Sal glared at his brother before smiling at Elisha and me and following us to the door.
“I thank you for backing me up,” Sal said when we reached the door. “I'll see you at school.” He smiled.
“Okay,” I nodded, and we walked out of his house.
“Damn,” Elisha sighed.
“What?” I asked.
“I thought I had a chance but never mind,” she complains.
“What do you mean?”
“He likes you.”
The Day Sal’s Murder
It was all everyone could talk about. Where is Andie Bell? Is she dead? Did she get kidnapped? No one knew. The teachers tried to get everyone to act normal and pretend that their classmate wasn’t missing, but it was hard; this was high school.
I tried my best not to stare at him, but with everything going on, I couldn’t help it. Mr. Ward was acting weird. To the rest of the students, it may look like he was worried that a student was missing, but to me, it looked like he was scared instead of worrying. But what exactly was he scared of?
I looked back at Mr. Ward when everyone was rushing out of his class; he pulled out a drink he had never drunk in the classroom. I then walked out and scanned the hallways to see if Elisha or Sal was nearby, but they weren’t in sight; it also sucks that I didn’t have Sal’s number.
1 hour before Sal’s Murder
“Have you heard?” Elisha asked as she opened a bag of potato chips.
“Heard what?” I asked.
She leans in and whispers. “Everyone thinks it is Sal.”
I looked at her, confused. “Why would they think that?”
“Because his friends told the cops that he told them to lie about their alibis,” she said.
I stared at her. Why would they do that? Sal wasn’t even with Max at the party, and Naomi was nowhere in sight.
“That’s weird.” I said.
“I know. The cops suck ass.” She shrugged.
“Have you seen Sal?” I ask. She shook her head but paused, and her eyes widened. “Oh yeah, he and Mr. Ward was heading outside before I came to the cafeteria.”
“They what?” I asked nervously.
“I don’t know,” Elisha shrugged.
“We have to follow them,” I said and immediately gathered my stuff.
“What, that’s ditching, and you never do that,” Elisha gasped.
I glared at her before dragging her with me, causing her to drop her sandwich.
“I didn't want to tell you this because I didn’t think it was my business,” I said as we rushed into my car.
I shoved my phone to Elisha, and she looked down at it.
“Is that Andie?” Elisha asked.
“Yea, I saw her the night of the party. She was walking past your house angrily, and I saw her walking in Mr. Ward’s house while we drove past.”
“I thought she and Naomi hated each other,” Elisha says.
“No idiot, she was there to see Mr. Ward because they are having an affair!” I yelled at her.
Elisha gasped. “Oh my gosh, do you think?” I nodded, knowing exactly what she was going to ask.
“Something tells me he is going to do the exact thing to Sal,” I said.
“Hurry, we have to save him!”
Elisha and I drove as fast as we could, looking for Mr. Ward’s car. We went past his house, but his car wasn't there; we drove past Sal’s house, but his car wasn't there either.
“Now, what would be a perfect place to murder someone?” Elisha asked, and I shuddered at her question.
“Omg, the forest,” I gasp and hit the pedal.
Elisha called the cops as I sped through many stop signs and lights. Thank goodness there weren’t many people on the road since everyone was either at school or work.
“Ok, the cops will meet us here.” Elisha said when we reach the forest.
“Ok, let's go,” I said and got out my baseball bat while Elisha took out her pepper spray.
We jogged in the forest, where Mr. Ward’s car was parked near. “I hope we are not too late,” Elisha says.
I nodded and continued to run. All you can hear is our breathing and the sticks we stepped on.
We were nearly out of breath when we spotted two figures. Mr. Ward sat on the ground while Sal was on the floor with a bag on his head.
“What the fuck!” Elisha yelled, and we ran to them.
Mr. Ward immediately stood up and let go of Sal’s hand.
“What are you girls doing here?” Mr. Ward asked and looked back down at Sal.
“He was trying to suffocate him,” I growled and ran to Sal to untie the bag.
“It is not what you think, please,” Mr. Ward says.
“Oh, we know exactly what we saw!” Elisha screamed at him. “You’re a disgusting pig!”
“Sal!” I scream when I feel no pulse. I started doing chest compression on him, trying not to break down.
“Why would you even think of this?!” Elisha continues to scream at him.
“I had no choice; the cops would have arrested me.” Elliot Ward cried.
“Where is Andie?” Elisha asked.
Ward didn't answer.
I continued to do CPR on Sal, and just when I thought he didn’t make it, a loud gasp came out of him.
“Sal!” I cried and pulled him into a hug.
I heard two legs start running, which I knew belonged to Elliot Ward. “Shit,” Elisha murmured before she ran after him. It wasn’t long until I heard a group of people yells, “Stand down!”
“You’re okay,” I said and wiped my tears while looking at Sal’s expression. It was a mixture of shock and scared. He was still gripping my shirt as I moved his hair out of his face.
“Y/N, I-“ he paused. There it was; I pulled him into a hug as I felt him welp. He shook badly, holding on to me tightly like I would disappear if he let go. “You're ok now,” I continue to reassure him.
A couple of minutes later, the cops and the EMS workers came to us. The cops looked at the plastic bag on the ground and the drink that Elliot Ward previously took out in class. He then looked at Sal’s shaken form.
“Sal, you need to go to the hospital, and one of the cops will go with you,” the officer said.
I looked up at the officer, and it was the exact one interviewing Sal. Maybe now he’ll believe us.
“Y/N, I need to take you to the station and interview you,” he says.
I nodded, and we stood up.
Sal looked down at me and wiped the remaining tears from my eyes, and I did the same with his.
“Thank you,” he murmured.
35 minutes later
The cops stare at me as I explain what I saw and show them the video of Andie walking into Mr. Ward’s house.
“You didn't think to show me this the other day?” he asked.
“I wanted to see if Andie was going to show up the next day because it is obvious that you guys thought it was Sal,” I shrugged.
The officer glared at me and emailed the videos to the police station.
“Elliot Ward said he didn't kill Andie but did admit to the affair.”
I was taken aback by that comment. Did they still think it was Sal?
“Isn't it obvious that he did something to Andie and was trying to pin it on Sal?” I asked.
“That is what we are going with, but he keeps denying where she is,” the officer said and shook his head.
“He’ll probably come around,” I said...questioning my own words.
After the cops interviewed me, they told me Sal was no longer a suspect, which was a massive relief because I would be on the suspect list if they kept suspecting him.
Elisha was sitting in the waiting lounge with her parents and my parents. They all ran to me when I walked out.
“Are you ok?” My mom asked as she scanned my hands for any injuries. “I’m fine, mom,” I hugged them all.
“Ugh, I can’t believe these assholes want to interview me too,” Elisha whines when one of the officer motion her to follow him.
I gave her an apologetic look, but she was obviously happy to help.
5 weeks later
“I didn’t kill Andrea Bell.”
I replayed the line again. “I didn’t kill Andrea Bell.”
I replayed the line again. “I didn’t kill Andrea Bell.”
I kept replaying his words, but It still didn’t change my mind. Of course, everyone else believed he was lying, but why didn’t I?
It has officially been five weeks since Andie has been missing. Everyone was shocked when Stanley Forbes and the Fairview Police announced that Elliot Ward, the history teacher, was the cause of Andie’s death. Every little detail, including their affair, was released. The hate train went from Sal to Elliot Ward real quick. College applications, including Yale, were quickly sent to me, Sal, and Elisha. Elisha was incredibly stunned since her GPA was low, but she was happy to be given the opportunity.
Although everyone has decided that Elliot is the murderer and has hidden her body, something didn’t sit right with me. He admitted to everything, including his plan to kill Sal, but why would he deny murdering Andie, especially since that was the reason why they gave him a harsh sentence? The judge was going to make his sentencing lighter if he admitted to it, but he still denied it. Something tells me he isn’t lying, although it bothers me that I am torturing myself with that thought.
“Y/N! Sal is here!” I heard my mom call from downstairs.
I flip my laptop and put on my sneakers. I then turned to look at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a two-piece black dress with the black leather jacket that Sal let me borrow the night of Max’s party. It fitted me like a short dress, and I have kept it since.
“Ahum isn’t that a little too short,” my dad asked when I walked down the stairs.
“Oh, come on, you know Sal isn’t like that,” my mom playfully hits my dad’s arm, and he chuckles.
“Be back no later than 11,” my mom says, kissing me on the cheeks. I gave them both a hug and walked out of the house.
Sal was waiting for me outside with a bouquet of red roses.
“Wow,” was all he said, and I chuckled.
He then gives me the flowers before kissing my forehead.
“You look beautiful,” he whispers, knowing damn well my parents are eavesdropping on us.
“Thank you,” I said, and he intertwined our fingers before guiding me to his car.
The winter weather hit me when I felt the cold breeze touch my face and legs. Winter was coming fast, and time was moving extremely fast. I will graduate with my best friends soon and move to New Haven with them. Elisha is going there to study literature while Sal is going there for medical school, and I am going there for their law school. Everything will work out, and we will move past this.
“How did the interview with Yale go?” Sal asked while squeezing my hand. “I got in,” I smiled. I felt his hand relax against mine. He would’ve terminated his application if I didn’t get in with him.
“I am going to have a lawyer as my girlfriend,” he said and kissed the palm of my hands. I chuckled and looked at his neck. The scar was slowly fading away. My eyes went up a little higher, and I examined his features. He was more handsome than yesterday, but I wouldn’t tell him that. I don’t want him teasing me about it all night.
Sal stopped at a red light, and I looked out the window. We were close to Andie Bell’s and Elliot Ward’s neighborhoods. I bite my lower lips nervously and see two girls walking down the sidewalk. I recognized one of them: Naomi’s little sister, Cara Ward. She seemed ok, but she didn’t look happy either. I can’t imagine how she and Naomi felt when they were told their dad was a murderer. The whole school also treated them differently. Naomi didn’t go to school for a couple of weeks, and I heard from people that Cara was getting bullied. I don’t really know if Naomi is still friends with Sal. He mentioned that she apologized to him on behalf of her dad, and of course, he didn’t blame her, but Naomi still felt terrible. Also, after lying about her alibi, I doubt Sal wants anything to do with her, Max, Jake, and Millie.
We drove past the two girls, and I saw Cara’s friend. She looked around Cara’s age with brown hair, pale white skin, and muddy-green eyes. The girl must have noticed me too because when I looked in my side mirror, the mysterious girl was staring back at her.
We reached the restaurant, and Sal told me to stay put so he could rush over to my side to open the door for me. He was obsessed with that gesture.
“How is Ravi’s freshman year going?” I asked when we sat down.
“Oh, it’s going; he intends to slack off a little,” Sal shrugged.
“How does he feel about you moving away for college?” I asked.
“Begged me to take him,” Sal laughed. “I told him to finish high school with a good GPA first.”
“What is he wanting to do?” I question.
“Become a lawyer,” Sal said and nodded. “He said you are the reason why.”
I laughed at that. “No, he did not!”
As much as I find that comment amusing, Sal’s face didn't look amused. He was staring at me with deep eyes while rubbing my palm. Oh. I now remember five weeks ago when I rushed to see Sal in the hospital. The nurse told him that he would've died if I didn't arrive on time. I remembered Sal’s parents sobbing and thanking me for saving their son’s life. Ravi was on the other side, holding his brother’s hand. He stared at me with a thankful note written all over his face. Without a second thought, he blurted out, “I want to be you when I grow up.”
“I guess I am the reason why,” I muttered and smiled at Sal.
The waiter comes back with our drinks, and Sal starts placing our orders. I looked out the window and saw someone walking down the streets. I recognize the girl. It was Becca Bell. I examined her face; she looked healthy, normal, more normal than Cara and Naomi. Then I remembered what the police said; Becca Bell was the last to see Andie. Last to see Andie.
5 Years Later
I groaned when I heard the doorbell ringed. I checked the time, and it was 9:30 in the morning. Who in their right mind comes ringing someone’s doorbell this early on a Saturday morning? I looked over to my side; Sal was still dead asleep. He was probably tired from his 16 hours shift last night.
I put on one of Sal’s shirts, which fits me like a dress, and started walking down the stairs. I was still getting used to the new house. It was big, too big for two people, but Sal wanted a huge family, and with him being a doctor and me being a lawyer, we could afford it. Besides, the real estate was also Elisha’s dad. He was very persuasive and excited that Sal and I finally moved back to Fairview after four years of school and one year of working in New Haven. He was so excited that he showed us the best house and gave us a reasonable price so we wouldn’t want to move.
I looked at myself in the mirror and flattened my hair a little. I looked like a mess and would probably scare whoever was on the other side of the door, but it was their fault for coming this early. Maybe it was Ravi trying to convince me again that Sal and I should have our wedding in India.
I twisted my engagement ring, opened the door, and almost cussed out Ravi until I saw a girl standing before me. She had soft brown hair, pale white skin, and muddy-green eyes. She looked oddly familiar. The girl just stared at me as if her arrival was bad timing. She looked at me from head and toe, and I could assume what was going on in her head.
“I just woke up,” I said awkwardly.
She nodded, and I noticed the slight blush on her face.
“Can I help you with anything?” I asked.
“Are you F/N L/N?” She asked, and I nodded even though it seemed she already knew who I was.
“You are the new lawyer in town that everyone has been talking about,” she said with a smile.
“I just moved back, so I guess so” I shrugged.
“Are you the one that solved Andie Bell’s case five years ago?” she asked.
I paused to analyze the girl. Is this some prank that has been going around? Many people, particularly the ones obsessed with Andie Bell's case, were excited to have me back in town. Some of them might go a little overboard by sending a bunch of flowers or, like this one, showing up in front of my house to see if I'll be looking for the dead girl's body.
“Yea, I am that girl,” I said, and she noticed my tone changing.
She seemed satisfied with my answer, though, and smiled. “Let me introduce myself.”
I cross my arms and have my serious face on. The one that Sal never takes seriously but others would.
“My name is Pippa Fitz-Amobi, and I don't think Elliot Ward killed Andie Bell, and I think you know that, so I am here to prove that the killer is still out there.”
I froze. I did not expect that to come out of her mouth. I did not expect that to come out of anyone's mouth; I thought it was just a thought that would forever linger in my mind. But here stood this stranger who had the same thought as mine.
I thought back to a couple of months ago when I was going through my laptop to delete some stuff and landed on a file. A file I promised myself I would delete five years ago was telling me to open it. I did. Two hours later, I told Sal we should move back to Fairview since our family lives there.
I tried to convince myself that I had only moved back here to be closer to my family and Sal’s family, but deep down, I knew why I had come back. That was probably why one of my first stops was at the police station; I wanted to ask them to reopen Andie Bell’s case because I knew the thoughts would eat me up until I finished what I started. I needed it to end, but I also needed someone with the same thoughts as mine. And that person was here.
I smiled at the girl. “Nice to meet you, Pippa Fitz-Amobi; my name is F/N L/N, and you are correct. I also think the real murderer is still out there.”

“Andie gets everything she wants because she’s a daddy’s girl”Chloe sniped back, “As long as she’s the perfect obedient little girl her papa will cave for anything” Emma spoke, huddling up next to you and whispering like it was a big secret no one else should tell. You made a mental note to never ever share any private information with the girl. Curiosity killed the cat, you had seen Andie’s reaction to the mention of her father, had seen her tense and her scared terrified eyes. That didn’t seem like the typical “Daddy’s girl” the girls had been referring to but before you could ask it was Sal who beat you too it. “We shouldn’t talk about Andie behind her back. It’s gossiping. Andie wouldn’t like it, and neither do I. Y/n is a new student, we should be welcoming her not spreading rumors”.
“Oh come of it Sal!” Chloe began, “even you have to admit that Andie gets everything she wants! She never has to work for it”. You could already detect some odd system of hierarchy. All you knew was you didn’t like it, it made something pull in your stomach. Your conscience telling you it wasn’t right. Yet you couldn’t pull away. It was Andie they were talking about. You watched as Sal’s eyebrows rose, eying both girls. It seemed he was the mediator of the group, the moral compass. “So what if Andie is given everything? Money and gifts aren’t everything girls. And I wouldn’t joke about Andie’s father, it’s not easy being a bell” he stated, his shoulders deflating like he knew something. A glint in his dark eyes. You willed yourself to follow him back to the desks. Sitting beside the boy as he breathed a simple sigh, he chucked softly, “sorry about the girls. They think they know everyone’s business.” You were about to say something when he spoke, “Andie was right about you. You have a kind heart” he spoke, moving to lay his hand on yours. You could feel your heart race, your cheeks red. No one had ever said that before. Andie had mentioned you to Sal your brain roared at you. Andie mentioned you…which meant she thought of you…Andie bell thought of you…you willed it to a halt, focusing on Sal. You could see why Andie was friends with him. He was gallant and brave, not afraid to speak his mind. “Takes one to know one Sal” you spoke. The smile on his face was victory enough.
Sal being Andie’s number one defender since primary school….had to add it in…I had too. Can I be reader and be besties with Sal Singh please?!

Girl I’ve Always Been | Childhood (1)
Pairing: Andie Bell x fem reader (Becca Bell x reader) childhood best friends
Summary: Her deep silver eyes shot up to you, wide and almost menacing. Her eyes were the same color as your father you noticed. Her lips were calm and poised as they eyed you, running down your figure to stop at your soiled trainers. Her bike was still on the ground, you could just make out the sticker that lined the bars. ‘Property of: Andie Bell’ written neatly on with a marker pen. Andie bell.
Series Warnings: Childhood innocence, toxic parents, Jason Bell being his own warning, hurt/comfort, found family, firecracker baby Becca Bell, featuring the very famous Roadie and Toadie, My take on the Bell family. Pre AGGGTM.
Authors note: I first Read A good girl guide to murder when it first released in 2019, and I absolutely adored it. It kept me on my feet and I fell head over heels for so many characters. I happen to be one of those people that sympathize a great deal with characters. One of those characters happened to be Andie bell. She was so complex, so versatile it was impossible to know her next move. I throughly enjoyed the dynamic between the Bell family, and in turn it made me love Andie more as a character. Not condoning her actions, but there is a saying, hurt people hurt people. I wrote this piece simply to explore Andie’s childhood, and explore it in my own special way. This is again solely for entertainment purposes. I do hope you enjoy it. (The cover photos will be altered when we get picts of India as Andie)

Tumblr media
Your eyes peered out of the frosty window of the car your parents had been driving for what seemed like hours now. You watched as the bustling streets of London remained a firm solid memory in your mind, your eyes now peering over at the soft country road of a small town. Your mother eyed you with soft eyes from the front seat, leaning down so her firm hand made contact with your cheek, softly moving some strands of hair from your eyes. “I know the move was not what you expected sweetheart, but your father and I know you will grow to love Little Kilton. I hear there are even some lakes? Isn’t that so Charles?”
Your father’s soft smile filled his features as he peered at you with his soft silvery eyes, “Oh yes! Plenty of lakes! I hear they’re known for their tea rooms!”
What town wasn’t known for their tea rooms?
You couldn’t help but let out a laugh, watching as your fathers smile lifted at the sound of your voice, at the age of eight you had now moved more than four times. That was just part of the job given that your parents were the top familial therapist’s in the England. They had worked with so many families all over, from the great city of Cardiff in Wales to the great burrowing dales of Scotland. You had been too small to remember the early years, living in wales and Scotland, though you think now you’ll remember this move the most.
The white pale sign greets your eyes, ‘Little Kilton’ leaping of it as your father zooms past, he notices your wide gleaming eyes watching the small city center, the churchyard, the tea rooms. It’s all so new. It’s only when your father turns into a small neighborhood that you really feel anxious, your leg shaking against the car floor.
The houses all look similar to each other, terraced houses, orange brick lined with white window tills, black rimmed picked fences. Your father curses as he flips the map onto the left side, “Jenny do you have that paper I gave to you when we left tesco’s yesterday? The one with our address on the back?”
There is some shuffling as your mother peers through her rucksack, before producing a small piece of paper, you’re observant enough that you catch the street name, Hogg Hill. You laugh to yourself, imagining a street laden with Hoggs, all sorts of colors.
“There we are” your father sputters, twisting the wheel until the car is turning on a specific road. “Hog Hill, number 29”. The house isn’t what you expected, its a detached house, standing alone from all the others, the brick is devoid of color, probably withered away with age. The gate that lines the house is made of brick, metal bars upholding the bricks. The mail slot is pure gold, cleaner than any other mail slot you had seen in your short years of life.
The windows remain clean, and you’re about to ask your mother if the previous tenant had done a clean up when she answered for you, getting out of the car, eyes taking in the house.
“Would you look at that Charles-“ your mother begins, her words a void in your head as she begins to decorate the front door, talking a mile a minute about planting a small garden, to which you take the time to look round. The street is small, but you find yourself smiling as you watch an elderly couple walking their small dog, lead on and tail wagging. It makes your heart swell, but also in a way that has you begging for home. Your grandparents had been sad to see you go, and you along with them. You must have cried buckets upon leaving.
It’s your father who mentions it. You don’t remember noticing it yourself before he had brought it up, “My goodness will you get a look at that tree Jenny?? It’s bigger than five lots combined!” Your father comes near, rustling your ponytail and tickling you as he passes, “it’s a sycamore tree! Your favorite!”
Your eyes follow your fathers and right across from your house stands a tree. Not just any tree, a sycamore tree. Your grandmother’s favorite. It’s big and tall, overlooking the semi detached houses, and all you want to do is rush over and begin climbing. That small curiosity that beats in your chest aching to get out. You bet you could see all of Little Kilton from that high above the ground, you wager you could even see all of London, maybe even London Eye. It’s only then that your mother breaks your concentration, piling up your arms with boxes, as much as your eight year old hands can carry. And the tree is forgotten.
After nearly two days of decorating and helping your mum move the furniture you’re itching to get outside. It’s when your mother is out talking on the phone that you manage to sneak out from under her.
The weather is Cloudy, the breeze feeling nice on your skin, the tiny patch of sun that peeks out through the dreary clouds is warm. You tug your climbing shoes on, before racing across the street.
The sycamore is as big as your grandmothers, and you easily climb on it, making it halfway. You clutch the tree trunk in your hands as you peer down at the land bellow. Although your previous theory of being able to see London had been false, you never realized how small Little Kilton truly was. It stretched miles and miles, but seemed cut off from the rest of the world. A tiny town filled with tiny people.
A vast difference from the bustling Streets of London. Where the people were anything but tiny, crowds of people going to and from. The feel of the underground station rocking your feet, rattling the edges of your skin.
It was quiet here. Almost too quiet. The Unsettling sort of quiet that caused your mind to race with endless ideas. Here there was no underground station, no busy bodies going to and from, just the tiny town, where kids would play in the park and everyone knew your name.
It would only be a matter of time before your mum found you missing and would call for you to come back, help her finish off the garden out back. You sighed, moving to climb off the tree, making sure you were careful on the way, you didn’t want to get any scratches or broken limbs. Not like last time.
You hadn’t seen her at first, the tree had most likely been too high to peer down at, you had mostly kept your eyes on the rest of the town, not bothering to look bellow. A girl was on her bicycle, pedaling angrily down the hill. You watched from your front steps as her front tire hit a crack in the pavement. The first thing you noticed was, she didn’t cry. Or wince. She simply rose up from the road, ashy blonde hair now ruined as she pulled up her ponytail. Her scraped palms and unblemished face were a stark contrast to the fierce determination in her eyes. You could tell she was angry, from her raised brows and lips muttering incomprehensible words.
her knee was bleeding, racetracks of blood spilling over the wound that had no doubt gotten cut from the fall. You weren’t sure what possessed you at that moment to walk over to her. You were normally too scared, too sensitive to go talk to other children on your own. But something in you made your feet walk towards her.
Maybe it was because your parents were therapist or because you were observant and you always knew when people needed to talk, but you stood in front of her, your feet licking against the ground as you walked, alerting the blonde girl of your presence.
Her deep silver eyes shot up to you, wide and almost menacing. Her eyes were the same color as your father you noticed. Her lips were calm and poised as they eyed you, running down your figure to stop at your soiled converse. Her bike was still on the ground, you could just make out the sticker that lined the bars. ‘Property of: Andie Bell’ written neatly on with a marker pen.
Andie bell.
She eyed you for what felt like eternity, until you managed to speak. “I saw you fall”. If the girl thought your words were candid she didn’t show it, only rose those threatening eyebrows, her silvery eyes wild as she eyed you, like she was on the defense. You knew that because your parents had seen to many cases like that.
Andie couldn’t help but feel like your words were contradictory, like you cared but didn’t at the same time.
Her chest puffed outward, like a threatened puffer fish desperately trying to defend itself, and then the stubborn response fell from her lips, “Didn’t fall.” The words were harsh, menacing, with a sudden chill added to them. “just….lost balance is all”
You scoffed, eyebrows raised, clearly she had. The evidence was all around for others to see, You just stared at her for a second, wondering if she was being serious. Surly the way her knees were scrapped and her bike was dented had been evident of the fall, of some accident.
“But you did” you let out, head tilting, eyes soft.
Andie gulped, her nose flaring and eyes squinting in anger. “No I didn’t” she growled out. But you saw it—the tremor in her voice, the vulnerability she tried to hide. She got closer to your face, hands balling into fists. She didn’t like how weak you made her feel, and even more so that she couldn’t read you enough to decipher your emotions. It was beyond frustrating. but it was obvious you didn’t perceive . All you saw was an angry little girl with the same characteristics your parents would talk about.
You shrieked back as she stepped over to you, eyes still mapping out your emotions, trying to catch a glimpse of anything.
It took a second, but you could clearly see her anger, the way it was raw irritation. You planted your feet, stood your ground. She was in obvious need of help, you could tell from the way she held her body that pain was something she was not immune to.
“I have plasters. No shame in falling.” Andie’s gaze bore into yours, as if assessing whether your words held true. She was wary, like a wild animal caught in a snare and at that you watched as her eyes softened, and with a simple nod moved past you, bumping your shoulder lighty as she passed.
She followed you back to the house silently, scratched up bike trailing beside her.
She didn’t talk, didn’t even veer her eyes away from in front of her, pulling her dented bike by its handles. Once you made it to your new house, boxes and boxes still laying out in your fathers boot, evidence of you being freshly new to the town.
Your father smiled as you neared, his eyes kind and sweet, and you watched as his eyes took in the girl next to you, taking in her bleeding knee and soiled clothes. “Oh dear! Have a fall did we sweetheart?” He spoke, dropping the box he was carrying to come and eye Andie.
You watched the blonde girl, who seemed a bit nervous and confused as your father moved closer to her, she stepped back a bit, not too much for it to be noticeable, but you noticed. You could tell by her firm jaw and observant eyes that she was calculating her thoughts about your father.
“This is Andie Bell papa” you spoke out, moving to step in front of the small girl,a small smile perched on your lips. “She had a bit of a fall and I offered to help clean her up”.
You watched as Andie’s silver eyes moved to you, and you didn’t understand why you suddenly felt nervous, the beginnings of butterflies in your stomach.
Your father nodded at your words, moving to grab your head affectionately and drag you into him, laying a big almost embarrassingly kiss onto your cheek. You shrieked, pulling away, wiping at where your father left his lips.
“Always the mediator aren’t you” he had whispered into your skin
You were a big girl now, and you certainly didn’t need to be branded as the girl whose parents still treated her like a toddler with their endless affection. If your father noticed your less than enthusiastic behavior torward his affection he didn’t make it known. Only smiled that wide smile, “well Andie it’s a pleasure to meet you!! I’m sure you’ve made quite the impression on my daughter, you’re the first friend she’s ever brought home”.
You could feel your cheeks heating up at your father’s admission, you were worried Andie would be less than enthused to be around a middle aged man talking fondly about his daughter. You were sure she would take the plaster from your hands and walk straight out of the door, no thank you or words mentioned. She most likely thought you a nerd, a dweed, a good girl who did everything your parents asked, and with a smile. That you were, and you weren’t ashamed, you usually never were. So why was it when it came to Andie Bell did you feel the need to suddenly be cool?
To your great and utter astonishment the blonde only smiled at your father, the lines of her lips lifting into a beautiful grin, and you were amazed at how beautiful her smile was. It was a big difference from the scowl you had seen on her face the whole walk over.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you too sir.” It was short and simple, and your father seemed to like that, moving aside and gesturing for you to take Andie inside the cluttered house, where you were sure your mother would be flying around like a headless chicken.
“Don’t let me stop you. Off you girls go, and make sure to clean out those cuts, don’t want them to get infected” he chimed, going back to the boxes laying on the pavement of the drive.
“Sorry about my father” you spoke, “he means well but sometimes I think he fancies making me feel embarrassed” you whispered.
You watched as Andie’s eyes remained on yours, something flickering in them, you didn’t notice it then, the small flickers. Emotions that were too big for an eight year old to feel, that would flicker and make themselves known.
“Your father loves you” she spoke, her voice calm and controlled, a major difference to her angry self that you had met a while back on the pavement floor. “I think it’s wonderful”.
Wonderful? Any other child your age would have agreed with you, would have laughed and said a very different thing, “parents! How embarrassing can they be!!”. But Andie Bell hadn’t, in fact she had saved you from making a small error in your judgement. You peered back to your father, watched as he eyed the boxes, standing that same way he always did when he thought too hard.
A smile formed on your lips. Your chest ached in that way that only ever happened when you thought of your dad. A warm feeling. “You’re right” you chimed. It was only then that your eyes caught the lines of discomfort in the young girls face, the way her lips let out a hiss as she walked.
You immediately without thought reached for her hand, concern etched into your soft eyes, “come along Andie, let’s fix that cut of yours”.
Your mum’s eyes rose from the lamp she had carefully taken out of the box, eyes seeming to take on a surprised expression as you strolled in, hand in hand with Andie. Your mother looked amused, like she’d waited for this moment for years.
“Made a friend already have we dear?” Her smile is genuine and soft, her eyes then turn down to the cuts on the girl and immediately mum mode is activated. She immediately comes near to Andie, “had quite the adventure it seems, come dear let’s clean that cut of yours. What’s your name sweetheart?”
Your surprised when Andie replies, fast and steady, you watch the way she interacts with your mother, her uneasiness of others seeming to fade away as she tells your mother where she lives, “Number 33 four houses down, I have a little sister named Becca, but she’s a bit of a bore, all she does is toddle about and play with her dolls”.
You think it’s the most words you’ve ever heard the girl say in your presence. Your mother seems to love the conversation, nodding along and laughing at the way Andie describes Becca, like any older sister would, with the least affection.
You watch from your place across the table as your mother asks permission to lift Andie onto the granite, and when she nods your mother lifts her on the counter, very tenderly taking the girls shins into her hands before cleaning out her wound. Andie doesn’t wince, nor cry, the only indication that she’s felt any type of pain evident from the way her fingers grip the sides of the granite, fingers turning deathly pale. “I am quite use to cleaning cuts” your mother spoke, moving to get the plaster from the box and placing them neatly on the wound, tapping Andie’s cheeks playfully as she did so. Andie had smiled, not a forceful smile or a big smile. But a soft one. Genuine in nature
“This girl over here is constantly giving me a fright with her tree climbing. I’m just happy that she was there to help you”.
Andie’s eyes meet yours, and to your surprise she nods her head, a mere shake directed at you, but you know well enough what it truly means. Thank you. Thank you for helping me. You can’t fight the smile that fits across your features, or the amused expression on Andie’s face. Once of the counter and onto the floor you watch as Andie’s eyes widen, your ears hearing a distant voice in the distance, “Andie your father is almost home!! Come put the kettle on!” It’s a woman’s voice. But your perspective enough to watch the way Andie’s eyes change when the word father is entered into the equation. Your mother must tell too, because she’s immediately speaking, “it’s about tea time. Why don’t you go along home now honey? I’m sure your mother is looking for you”. Andie is nodding, before making her way out the door and down to her bike, not even looking back at you. A pit opens in your stomach, but it’s only when she’s about halfway down the drive that she turns. “I didn’t catch your name. You’ll have to tell me next time!” She shouts, and then she’s gone, biking down the street down to her house.
Your mother only smiles, moving to kiss your forehead, “well look who made a friend today.” Only your not listening, your made to focused on following Andie as she peddles down to her house. Her mum is outside the house, looking like a carbon copy of her daughter, and she sighs when she sees Andie, speaking words you can’t hear, but you watch as Andie points in the direction of your house. Her mother peers over and you find yourself ducking behind the door, hoping she hadn’t caught you. But you don’t see the way Andie laughs, her eight year old teeth making appearance as she giggles.
You don’t see Andie much during the weekend, your parents keep you busy as you trail alongside them in the center of Little Kilton, holding fast to your fathers hand as you go into the antique shops, your eyes far to busy taking in all the old valuables, old oil paintings and clocks devoid of colour and paint. Although you can’t help but want to run into Andie, you can’t explain why, but you felt this feeling in your chest when you looked at her, you didn’t know what it was, or why it was there. At first you had thought it odd, but now..you enjoyed it. The way it would flit through your whole body, make your tiny heart beat fast in your chest.
As you sit in the ices cream parlor, a cone in your hands you watch as your mother sits in front of you, eating her ice cream with a spoon, much too posh then your father and you. Unlike you barbarians she didn’t feel the need to lick till her tongue was frozen. You were usually a rather observant child, people would comment that you were much to mature for your age, you weren’t sure if that was true. Did a mature eight year old still wear bunny nighties to bed?
But you were observant as ever. Had been ever since you were an infant, your eyes were always so clever, finding things, always searching. Learning, mapping. You could see it now, the way your parents were eyeing each other, you knew those eyes. The back to school discussion. It was practically protocol now.
“I can see you both eying each other, is it about school?” You let out, your tiny eyes flitted between your parents. Your father smiled, that large grin that lifted of his features, his sliver eyes glinted and he merely nodded. “As a matter of fact yes. Your mother and I know you’ll be starting up year eight soon.” Your father moved to pinch your cheeks, “growing a bit old ain’t you?” He joked. You giggled, but the sentiment was just as felt. You were getting older.
You were usually star pupil, always getting the highest marks in exams and projects. You were use to being the new kid, that never changed but it didn’t help when you started school back up again, it usually left you with anxiety, trying to fit in a new environment. You delt with many different children in the past, angry children, cruel, kind, clever, plain mad. That wasn’t what you were worried about. You were more worried about the logistics of the day. Which classroom would you go too, would you need your kit for physical education? What if you lost it or misplaced it? Would the teachers be angry?
“I’m sure you’ll do just fine come Monday.” Your mother spoke, “Kilton grammar School is a perfect educational school, I was just having a chat with that Dawn Bell from four houses down, and she tells me your little friend Andie is starting up year eight as well”. At that you can feel your mothers sly finger meet your stomach, you thrash as she tickles you. But all you can think about is that Andie will be at school. With you. It shouldn’t make you as happy as you feel, but you welcome the excitement.
The rest of the weekend flashes by so fast you’d think it never happened. Your mum finishes the final touches of the house, decorating it with as many colorful portraits and antique clocks. Your father helps you pick out your school uniform. Just as my school you’ve been to Kilton Grammar school is no different. Your father holds up your polo uniform, Kilton grammar emblem embedded in the fabric. He holds it up in his hands, it looks tiny compared to your father. Like he’s some giant. It makes a grin overtake your features.
“I quite like this shade of blue. Nicer than your old pair of uniforms you had to wear.” He puts it down on your bed, “now for your jumper”. You watch as he puts it next to your polo, “I say we go with these smart trousers, it will be a bit nifty when we drop of. Wouldn’t want you catching cold now would we? Or perhaps we could go with some smart skirts and wear some long socks, it’s a while since I was in primary school. Is that still allowed jelly bean?”.
You laugh, “i think I’ll go with the smart trousers papa”. He nods, “grand idea.”
It’s no surprise when on Monday morning your eyes open even before your alarm wakes. It’s the early hours of the morning, you can tell from the way the sun is not quite up, not yet ready to greet the sun. You yawn, pad to the lavatory, brush your teeth and smarten your hair. You settle for a dull ponytail, bunching up your brown bristles of hair. You wish you had gotten your mothers honey curls, but you hadn’t. Dull old brown suited you. It was then that your eyes caught sight of the sycamore tree. And you wondered how the view looked from way up high, it had been otherworldly to be up that high last time. But the colour from the morning sky must have been otherworldly. You had half and to sneak out, have a quick climb, perhaps ease your anxious anxiety, but your parents had woken up a bit long after.
Your mother busied herself with breakfast, putting a plate of fried eggs, one very juicy tomato and some mushrooms in front of your face. You had barley eaten two bites, your stomach filled to the brims with nerves when your mother had dragged you to the car, “we’ll be late if we wait any longer!” She chimed. You buckled in and watched as your father’s car rolled out of the driveway. You couldn’t help but flit your eyes to the Bell house. It looked quiet from the outside, and you wondered if Andie was half as nervous as you were. You laughed at that, Andie didn’t seem like the kind to be nervous about these type of things. You were sure right about now she was as calm and chipper as you were. Perhaps she would busy right at this very moment berating her little sister as they sat in the car, “Becca would you please stop that chattering!! It’s hurting my head!” You could practice hear.
As soon as the school gates appeared you could feel your chest halt, the way it always did when you were nervous. That familiar drop in the pit of your stomach. ‘I can do this. I can do this. Just be calm’ you recited in your head like a mantra. Your mother took your trembling hand in hers, and walked you across the cold nifty England air into the building. You took in the school corridors, watching all the children pass you in the halls. Your nerves seemed to run rampant as you took in the sight of all the halls, endless amount of classrooms and was that a stairwell?? How were you ever going to memorize this information? Where were the lavatories? The Headmasters office? The nurse?
“I can see your feeling a bit overwhelmed at all this new information” your mother’s voice spoke, and she very calmly took your hands in hers, her green eyes soft as she eyed you. “Remember what we practiced last time? Breathe in….” You did, “and out”.
She smiled once you did, moving to kiss your forehead. “Now you are going to have a wonderful day! I’ll let you in on a secret-dad and I are nervous as well. It’s always scary to try new things. But I’ll tell you what, when I come to pick you we’ll pick up a few sausage rolls”. How could you ever say no to that?
After your mum walked you to your class, you breathed in a sigh of relief when Mrs Edmunds came up to you, she was a soft young women, couldn’t have been older than your aunt, fresh out of Uni you assumed. “Well hello Miss Y/n. I’m Mrs Edmund! Welcome to year eight. Why don’t you go ahead and have a seat where you like, you can leave your kit on the table”.
Your brows furrowed as you eyes the corridors, flitting around for your father. He never would leave without saying any sort of parting. Especially on first days. Your chest began to heave slightly faster, what if he didn’t come?
“Looking for me jelly bean?” You immediately let out a sigh, falling into his arms and holding fast. Your father always had a way to calm your racing heart. It was like he just knew what to say. Some kind of magic only he had. After a long embrace and a kiss on the cheek he smiled, that wide glinting smile, sliver eyes looking grey in the light of the hallway. “"After while, crocodile."
"Too-da-loo, kangaroo." You reached down, squeezing his hand.
"Gotta go, buffalo." You squeezed back.
"Give me a hug, ladybug." He moved forward and pulled you into another hug and kissed the top of your head again.
"Take care, polar bear." You squeezed him tighter. He laughed, before pushing you into the classroom, your parents waving once last time before they disappeared down the hall and out the doors of Kilton Grammar. You were officially alone.
You scanned the classroom, eyes flitting to new faces you had never seen before, your hands were shaking in front of you, and you could feel your heart hammering in your chest. You hated the first day of school. Hated it.
“Oi” a soft voice flitted behind your ear, you turned taking in a young boy, his stature was just few inches taller than you, and you noticed the way his hair was dark and neatly pushed back. His dark brown eyes seemed to fill with kindness, it nearly radiated of him in waves. His eyes were soft as they laid on you, like he knew how hard your day had already been. “I’m Sal, Would you like to sit with me? I’m not much of a good talker but my mum says I can listen very well”.
At first you felt the overwhelming feeling of shame fill your chest, you were eight years old not some toddler, but Sal didn’t seem to mind. In fact his smile was wide and calm as he kept his eyes on you. Like a secure hug, and you knew at that exact moment that Sal Singh would be a friend you would never forget. He was still as he waited for you, his cheeks a red shade as you gave him a shy smile. His cheeks reddened, You shook his extended hand, offering your name. He smiled, his eyes alight. “I like your name, sounds like some fairytale character. Much better than what my mum picked. Sal” he retorted, his mouth lifting in disgust. “Not much of a name is it?” He joked.
You took your seat next to his, smiling when he held out an extra pencil. You quickly learned that Sal was smart, clever in the way he spoke. He was more mature than the other kids that sat behind you. He spoke about his mother and father, his baby brother who he adored to bits, Ravi his name was. you couldn’t help but feel like Sal had somehow in his own way, came to your rescue. Like some Angel sent to make your day better. Brighter, jovial.
“Would you mind if we sat together in the canteen?” He had nervously asked, his fingers bending his pencil, like he was waiting for you to run off and never speak to him again. “I wouldn’t sit with anyone else even if I could. I haven’t had a proper introduction to anyone else” you secretly whispered, and Sal’s eyes lit up, his dark eyes reminding you of the bark on the sycamore tree back home. “Wicked” he spoke. “I can introduce you to some friends if you’d like” he spoke, and before you could object he was calling names you’d never heard before.
“Emma! Chloe!” He called, and soon two new girls your age trotted over. Emma eyed you as Sal introduced you, she was shy. You could tell by the way she stood, her feet not quite touching. Lopsided.
“I’m Emma Hutton!” She greeted out, bellowing her name like she was some star in a film. You laughed, shaking her hand. Narcissism tendencies much? “Do you like hamsters?” The girl beside Emma questioned, her voice so high pitched it ricocheted of the walls. Before you could answer Emma was answering for you, “of course she does Chloe!! I was so jealous when Andie got one last summer holiday! And for what?”.
Your heart rattled against your rib cage at the girls name. Come to think of it you hadn’t seen Andie on the way to school, “Andie gets everything she wants because she’s a daddy’s girl”. Chloe sniped back, “As long as she’s the perfect obedient little girl her papa will cave for anything” Emma spoke, huddling up next to you and whispering like it was a big secret no one else should tell.
Curiosity killed the cat, you had seen Andie’s reaction to the mention of her father, had seen her tense and run off. That didn’t seem like the typical “Daddy’s girl” the girls had been referring to but before you could ask it was Sal who beat you too it. “We shouldn’t talk about Andie behind her back. It’s gossiping. Andie wouldn’t like it, and neither do I.”
“Oh come on Sal!” Chloe began, “even you have to admit that Andie gets everything she wants!
“So what of Andie is given everything? Money and gifts aren’t everything girls. And I wouldn’t joke about Andie’s father, it’s not easy being a bell” he stated, his shoulders deflating like he knew something. A glint in his dark eyes. You willed yourself to follow him back to the desks. Waiting beside the boy as he breathed. Simple sigh, he chucked softly, “sorry about the girls. They think they know everyone’s business.” You were about to say something when he spoke, “Andie was right about you. You have a kind heart” he spoke, moving to lay his hand on yours. You could feel your heart race, your cheeks red. No one had ever said that before. “Takes one to know one Sal” you spoke. The smile on his face was victory enough.
As if summoned Andie had appeared through the threshold, school uniform on and tired blue watercolored eyes taking in the classroom, you tried to school your features when you caught sight of her, giving her a small smile, and you felt your heart aching when she only eyed you before walking to Chloe and Emma. You could feel your heart pummel in your chest. But as soon as you felt your eyes get teary the chair squeaked against the floorboards. Andie bell had sat next to you. You of all people. You could see Emma and Chloe let out a huff, obviously wanting Andie to sit next to them.
“Hiya y/n” she let out, her smile wide as it had been when she left your house. You had smiled back, just as wide, but Andie caught your eyes drifting back to Chloe and Emma, eyes staring daggers at you, as if you had stolen their best mate. “I wouldn’t worry about them” Andie whispered, “I sat with them all last year and it didn’t do me any good. Thought I’d sit with you for a change”.
“I’d like that very much” you uttered.
“Good. Because I like you y/n” she said so matter of factly. The words made your cheeks heat up. Andie bell liked you. What a privilege your eight year old mind thought.
Andie had a glint in her eye, the kind that made your stomach twist and your innocent mind twist with fascination, she was a character that was for sure. You had seen the way Chloe and Emma has stood up the minute that Andie had walked in. Like some toppled toy soldiers standing up at attention at the first sign of the commanding officer. Andie had only eyed them as she passed, stopping to say something to Chloe, you had been to far to hear, but it obviously left Chloe with a sour expression on her face. You knew from your first introduction that Andie came from a toxic house, you had met a lot of them moving around so much. But none of them had taking a liking to you, no matter how hard you had tried, expect Andie.
Andie eyed you with her wide childish eyes, “you know mum told me that I should start hanging out with nicer girls. Chloe and Emma are all good and well but-“ Andie halted, her jaw set in a square. Tiny brain trying to make out a sentence. “Your kind. We could use a bit of that. How would you like to join our group y/n?”.
Now looking back you almost wish you could drag your eight year old self back and tell her that this group was not what you had thought it was. That this group would one day leave you high and dry. Dump you like wasted trash in the bin. That it would hurt just as much coming from the eight year old blonde who had looked at you that day like you were an Angel from heaven. Perhaps she had, but those days were gone now.
Andie’s invitation was simple. her eyes wide and pleading. You nodded, and just like that, you stepped into her orbit. In class, she claimed the seat next to you, her pencil case spilling over. “Oops,” she’d say, brushing her knuckles against yours. “Clumsy me.” You found you didn’t mind how many times it would fall into your desk, in fact you wished it had happened more. It was a confusing thought. You remember asking your parents about it on the car ride home. Your dad had nearly stepped on the gas pedal too hard, and your mum had eyed him like they knew something you hadn’t recognized yet.
Andie’s brashness was legendary. She wielded sarcasm like a sword, her words cutting through the air. But you saw beyond the armor—the tremor in her hands when someone mentioned her father, the way her laughter sometimes cracked at the edges. You were surprised when she would eye you with soft eyes, her words far more kinder and softer which was different from the standoffish Girl who had fallen of her bike.
Chloe and Emma eyed you with suspicion, their accents dripping with skepticism. “What’s so special about you?” Chloe would ask, her freckled nose wrinkling. “Andie’s never been this clingy.”
Andie’s soft spot for you was evident. She’d slide into the seat next to you during classes, her elbows brushing against yours. Emma scowled from across the room, but Andie ignored her, whispering secrets to you instead. “Did you know,” she’d say, “that the periodic table is like a giant puzzle? I’ve cracked it, you know. Hydrogen and helium are the corner pieces.” That alone had almost surprised you, Andie didn’t seem like the type of student to study hard. But she had. Sometimes all night. Anything to get away from her parents fighting in the other room and perhaps she had done so because she had seen you looking at the periodic chart a little too long during library hours. You were clever as well. Andie didn’t understand the feeling, she’s never felt it before. This feeling in her gut that made her want to please you.
Chloe rolled her eyes. “Andie, stop geeking out.”
But you loved it—the way Andie’s eyes sparkled when she talked about her hamster Roadie, the way she shared her lunchtime sandwich without hesitation often sneaking an extra Jaffa cake just for you. She wasn’t mean to you like she was to Chloe and Emma. Instead, she’d pass notes during maths, doodling random thoughts and questions. She’d ask you questions about what you thought of her outfit, would gleam when you would say she looked wonderful.
Outside of School you and Andie would meet each other by the sycamore tree. “You really weren’t lying when you said it was big” Andie had spoken, her blonde brows raised as she eyed the tree. “You mean you haven’t seen it?” You asked, chuckling. How had Andie not seen it after all these years of living on Hogg hill?
Andie could see your confused amused eyes and she only chuckled sardonically her usual hint of cruel ness left out as she eyed you, shrugging her shoulders. “I guess I never was a much of an observer” her reply was.
“You want to climb it with me?” You asked, grabbing Andie by her shoulders. Excitement bursted out of your veins and the thought of being so high up in the air with Andie Bell. Andie was never afraid of anything, you had known her for a while now. She was the queen bee of the group, confident, alarmingly confident. You had seen her dig sharp mean replies to Emma and Chloe like it was the most easiest thing in the world. So it confused you when she eyed the tree with less than enthusiastic eyes.
“I think we would be much safer on the ground. Less likey to break a bone…or a nail” she commented.
Behind that comment had been fear. You knew that. With soft eyes you came closer to the girl, your shoulders brushing.
“It’s alright to be scared” you spoke. “Being scared means your human. My mum always says that being scared is like a superpower” you laughed. You had never thought that true, till now.
Andie had eyed you with wide unbelieving eyes. Her signature smile on her features.
“Everything in that sentence was wrong. How is being scared like a superpower? If anything being scared is a weakness”.
You knew she believed her words. Was it her father who had told her that? You hadn’t met her father yet. He seemed far to scary, too quiet for your liking. Like he was watching, observing. Your father had met him. “Jason Bell offered to take me golfing next week. He seems like a kind bloke.” But you had seen how his daughter reacted to just his name alone and right then in your eight year old mind you had tagged him as dangerous.
In the end Andie Bell had climbed the tree with you. It didn’t take much hackle, and you were surprised when she had climbed even faster than you. The tree was high up and you could tell from the way Andie’s fingers clung to the bark, her nails digging into the tree trunk with a true fervor.
You watched her gray eyes take in the scene. The wind was soft this time of day. The birds flying past. Little Kilton was no longer a mystery. Andie could see everything. Could feel everything. The sky which was a darker cloudy color. The surrounding woods nearby, the old farmhouse that was deserted that in a few years would become infamous to her.
“Are you still scared?” You has asked.
Andie had scoffed, “why would I be scared? I’m only a few hundred feet of the ground! My father would kill me if he saw me up here this high” Andie spoke, her eyes taking in the view from bellow.
You settled in next to her. Your shoulders brushing hers. Andie’s fingers had made their way down to lay next to yours. Inches apart.
The silence had been what you remembered the most. Pure silence. Nothing but the wind and the soft sounds of Little Kilton bellow. Andie was different up here. With you. The silence seemed to awake something in her.
“My dad never hits me”. The words hit you like a freight train.
“What does he do then?” You asked, watching as Andie’s eyes began to tear.
“He-I know he loves me. Mum says he does. But sometimes I’m not so sure. Sometimes I think he’d rather be somewhere else.”
“Sometimes I think I’m not good enough. Doesn’t matter what marks I get on an exam, he’s always angry. Always quick to yell. He says such mean things. Cruel things. He thinks it doesn’t hurt me…but it does. I try to brush it off, to remember he loves me. But…sometimes I can’t”.
You don’t pry. You hadn’t noticed Andie’s fingers had inched closer and closer to yours till they were touching. Your stomach lurched and you immediately could feel your cheeks flush. It took a second but Andie wiped her tears.
“What was it you were saying? About scared being a superpower?” Andie changed the subject.
You let your eyes look bellow, watching as both your feet dangled of the branch, feet upon feet of air bellow.
Andie looked down too, her eyes widened, her fingers gripping yours a little tighter.
You licked your lips, “does it scare you?” You spoke, eying bellow. Gravity and the tree were all that stopped you two from tumbling down.
Andie nodded.
“Good. My mum told me that’s good. Because your heart is beating so hard..you can almost feel it in your palms. Blood and oxygen is pumping though your brain, think of it like rocket fuel” you laughed. “Right now you can run faster and fight harder. You can jump higher than you’ve ever jumped! It’s almost like you can slow down time. I’d wager that the scariest girl up here is you”.
Andie had laughed. “Chloe and Emma would agree with you”.
You must have sat up on that three for hours. Just you and Andie. You spoke of your time in London. How the streets were always crowded and the kids in your school weren’t any better. You spoke of your grandparents, how your gran always made the best Yorkshire pudding. Andie had smiled at that, saying she was pretty sure her gran made the best Yorkshire pudding.
It was only when a small voice from bellow caught your attention. Andie’s eyes had trailed down and suddenly she sighed, “it’s almost supper time. We’ve been up here for hours. We better get down and wash up”.
You nodded, not quite ready to go down back to real life. Back home. You could tell Andie thought the same. Could see it in the way she took one last look at little Kilton. “Thanks for this” she spoke.
“I’ve never had a friend like you before”.
You smiled, your little heart beating in your chest.
“I’ve never had one quite like you either Andie Bell”.
You let Andie go down first, following behind. It was only when your trainers hit the ground that you noticed the small blonde who had been calling Andie from bellow. You almost laughed. Andie had described her little sister well enough to you. You knew she loved her, no matter how oddly she showed it.
Becca Bell stood staring at the tree in wonder, blonde waves looking like she had just awoken from a nap. Her arms eagerly holding a small hamster in her soft fingers. The hamster looked calm, didn’t put up a fight. Perhaps he had known it wasn’t going to help.
“Andie! Mum wants you home for supper! That tree looks high! Did you almost fall off? Can I climb it?” Becca chatted of like a broken record. You couldn’t help but laugh at her cute little face.
Andie dusted her pants trousers, eyes on alert as she spotted what was lodged between her little sisters hands. “Becca Elizabeth Bell what have I told you about taking Roadie outside his cage!” Andie began, taking the hamster from her younger sisters hands, you watched as the little creature huddled into Andie’s warm hands.
Becca didn’t at all seem bothered by her sisters antics, you assumed she was use to her outbursts and spurts of emotions. She only shrugged her shoulders, “I know what you told me Andie but you should have seen the poor little things! He was thrashing against his bars like mad!! Mum let me take him out because his chattering was making her ill”.
“Is this your special friend Andie!! The one you told mum about? Are you the girl who helped Andie after she fell off her bike? I’m Becca!! I like candy floss and I have a hamster named Toadie!” She squealed of, making you smile. You adored her already.
“Pleasure to meet you miss Bell!” You shook her hand, and she smiled, blushing. “I like you. All of Andie’s friends are quite rude to me. Except Sal. I like him. Do you know Sal?”.
“I do. He’s a very lovely person. Very kind”.
“Can you teach me how to climb that tree?? Ooh! Can you play a game of what time is it Mr wolf?? Andie never plays with me” at this the small blonde loved forward, her eyes mischievous, “She’s a bit of a sore loser! Hates losing”.
You hid in your laughter. Andie had caught on and immediately took you by the hand, putting enough distance from her little sister, “y/n has no time to play childish games with you Becca. She’s my friend! Not yours!”.
You would have loved to hear those words if were not for the fact that Becca looked hurt. Her blue eyes had dropped and her bottom lip trembled. You slowly unhooked your hands from Andie’s. Giving her a pointed look.
“No need for a cry Becca” you began, instinctively you reached out for her, pulling her to your chest. Becca immediately wrapped her arms around you, “so you’ll play with me then?” She looked beyond happy.
You smiled.
“Of course! And Andie will play too, won’t you Andie?”
She just grumbled.

Heyyyy :))
Could you write a Ravi x reader hcs where reader ist pregnant ,while giving birth and how Ravi is just cute like he is with the baby
If you don’t like the idea just ignore it
Love youu
xoxo
This idea!!! 🫶🫶 I absolutely love it!
Ravi Singh as a first time father Headcannons
Ravi would be over the moon to find out that you are carrying his baby. I mean the man would be jumping over walls and over hoops! He’s constantly speaking into your stomach, getting you any cravings or rubbing your back to ease the uncomfortable feelings that come.
Ravi is of course doing all he can around the house to get ready for the little bundle of joy. He’s fixing the guest room into a nursery, making sure you have everything you need. A crib, a baby swing, burp cloths. Ravi would immediately call Pippa (because I feel like they would be besties after all these years) and pip would offer to go to the store to help him pick out a crib and a color for the nursery.
Ravi is also very protective over you, so much so that he’s always helping you out out of bed, making sure your eating healthy and taking all your vitamins and minerals.
Sal and Andie are practically dying to meet the new baby, they cannot wait to be a Aunt/Uncle
Ravi being the king he is, would also get the hospital bag ready, for months before you go into labor. He also won’t lie, he is terrified.
When the you do go into labor it’s very sudden, but Ravi is calm, steady. He knows just how to act, he’s the first one grabbing the car keys, while also taking the bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He’s then taking you gently by the hands, whispering comforting words as your already in pain.
On the drive over he’s making sure you breathe in and out, Sal and Andie are already at the hospital by the time you arrive.
The labor is rigorous and long, and half the time you think you can’t go on, but Ravi is right beside you, grasping your hand, saying things like, “your doing phenomenal my love, just a few more and then we’ll have our daughter! I bet she looks as lovely as you!” “That’s it sweet girl, your so strong!”
When the baby does arrive Ravi is shaking as he eyes the small bundle, his emotions are high and he almost cries as he holds the baby in his arms, looking back at you in awe.
Ravi does all the changing, the burpings. The baby is calm like him, and seems to enjoy being in his arms.
Ravi is the type of father who is soft, kind, takes the time to hold his baby after work and just loves giving her kisses on her little crinkled nose.
“I think I might love this girl a little more than you” he jokes as you both stand over the crib, you only laugh before swatting him.

The Case of The Heart's Whisper 18+
Pairing: Pippa Fitz Amobi x Fem Reader
Summary: You didn't realize having a relationship with Andie Bell would lead you to become Pippa Fitz Amobi's main resource in Andie Bell's complex life. You also didn't expect to fall for the detective, especially since you're still hanging on the girl who broke your heart.
words:6k
Authors Note: I wrote this piece quite a while ago after reading halfway through the first book, for that matter this story includes many inconsistencies and does not follow booklore in terms of storyline or even timelines. What if reader helps pip with the case and ends up falling in love with Pip? but a bit Andie-coded because I just love her. This was just meant as a fun writer's challenge and is meant to be entertaining. Please also keep in mind this was written before I finished the first book.
Warnings: Past Andie x fem reader, angst, fluff, possessive pip if you squint. Mentions of child abuse, toxic parenting, Andie bell haunting everyone from the grave. Dark pip having the ability to bring me to my knees. This story is not suppose to make sense. That’s about it. Steamy but actual smut is not written. Not proof read. Reader is on her last year in school. Being held back a year for therapy. Cussing.
Tumblr media
"What was your relationship with Andie Bell?". You gulped, feeling tears start to brim at just the name. Her name. Images of soft blue eyes and Andie's infamous smirk replayed in your mind like a broken record. Bringing back memories you had flushed away, locked away tight.
Under the watchful glare of Pippa Fitz Amobi, you felt your tongue dry against the roof of your mouth. Her words replaying in your mind, 'what was your relationship with Andie Bell?'
It wasn't that easy. You wish you could have gotten up from your seat in the canteen, where pip laid out her voice recorder, her strong willful blue eyes seeming to crawl over your skin, but not in a predatory manner, you couldn't help but notice the way she was staring at you. It made your stomach flip, your eyes burn, it felt all too familiar, the way her eyes were focused on you. With such intensity.
Just like her.
It had been forever since someone had eyed you like that. Five whole years to be exact.
A deep guttural sound boomed you away from your thoughts and your eyes moved to the boy who sat across from you, Ravi singh. His eyes were on you as well, except you couldn't help but feel like he was judging you. Sitting down with his arms crossed and his dark eyes looking into your soul, how were you suppose to tell him that Andie had been interested in you. That she had personally took you aside after you had stumbled upon Sal and Andie in the canteen, Andie with her usual puppy dog eyes directed at Sal. It had hurt, like a sucker punch to the gut.
All the things Andie had said to you during your studying lesson. It all had been lies. Of course you did nothing, only turned back on your heel, book bag in hand. You heard rushed footsteps next and then Andie was behind you. Her force strong and impatient, "y/n wait!! I didn't mean for you to see that". You had halted, burning red eyes and betrayal filling your veins. You turned on the girl, yanking your hand from under her touch.
"My friends were right about you Andie bell. You're nothing but a cruel mean person who will use anyone for your gain! I should have known the minute you came to talk to me that you had no intention of being my friend! Or whatever the hell you were playing at. Do yourself a favor, get  another French tutor. I'm done."
Cue to the next day, when you were making your usual walk to Kilton grammar l, beanie in hand as the chilly English weather had been harsh at that day, numbing your fingers to the bone. Your father never was one for making sure you were comfortable and safe, his job stopped the day you were born. Despite  your rough upbringing you were usually rather optimistic, everyone always said you were a female version of Sal signh. Not exactly what you wanted to hear, but maybe that was why Andie gravitated torward you. You shook your head, Andie Bell was out of your life. And like life, you watched as a silver SUV parked along side you, Andie bell in the front seat, brows furrowed.
"Get in the car you'll freeze to death" she spoke. You only continued walking, defiant. "I prefer the cold air, it makes my immune system stronger".
You didn't expect Andie to park the car, getting out with a grumble and practically tackling you. If you closed your eyes just enough you could still feel Andie's soft fingers ghosting over your cheeks bones, hot breathe against your ear. "I apologize for what I did. It's just...Sal is my best friend. And perhaps I should have broke it off with him, but it's hard. And then you came into the canteen and I panicked, I'm not use to panicking. I-" Andie's blue eyes had remained still, blush on her cheeks. "I like you y/n. Like a lot. It wasn't suppose to happen at first I really did need help with my French, but then I started noticing things about you. Like how you're always so sweet to others, how you mumble when you're nervous. Or how no matter how much your dad makes you unhappy, you always seem to be shining. Why is that? Is there some sort of secret?".
You remember feeling like you were in the twilight zone. Andie bell was a popular girl, a popular girl with a cruel heart, one who enjoyed hurting others. And yet here she was, helping you up and dusting your trousers. Her eyes warm and soft. Why she liked you, you didn't know. But you wanted to know why.
Needless to say how were you suppose to sit and say that Andie bell had liked you, not to Ravi Singh , that would just make him hate you more. And perhaps you felt guilty. Because his brother had died for Andie bell. And she had been playing games with you.
A soft brush of fingers against your hand made you turn back to the girl, in an act of utter coincidence or an act of kindness, you weren't sure which she spoke, this time to Ravi.
"Ravi would you mind leaving us two girls together? I believe y/n would feel more comfortable giving me her account without others listening in".
At this you watched as Ravi immediately stood up, eying you with strange eyes, before walking out of the canteen, the door's hinges making an utter awful squeaking noise that reminded you of the deer your father use to shoot.
"Andie wasn't like the others".  You didn't recognize your voice as you spoke. It was brittle, far away sounding, pain infused. You watched as Pippa remained speechless, eying you with her soft grey eyes.
"The others?" Her brows furrowed, "other students you mean?".
You nodded, a tear flying past your cheeks and onto your bottom lip, tasting the familiar salt on your tongue. You watched as pip followed the motion, eyes drifting down your lips.
"At first when she came round to me, I thought it was some cruel joke she was trying to play. I had heard about what she'd done to Nat De Silva. People talked. But....when she came round to my desk after French class and asked if I could tutor her I was lost for words". Pippa watched as a smirk filled your lips.
"Andie bell was kind to me. I don't know why....perhaps she saw something in me others didn't bother to see. And-and perhaps if we had gotten to be around each other more we could have been something. But she's gone now. And no one can bring her back".
"I will"
The words made your eyes find pip's. And you watched as the girl without thought reached over the table, taking your trembling fingers into her own, holding them against her own flushed fingers. Almost like she knew.
"I can't promise you Andie....I cannot simply wave my fingers and make her appear. Although I wish I could....but I can offer you peace. Justice. I can offer you a finalized solid answer to what truly happened to her. I've heard what others said about you and her. You were special to her too y/n".
At that all composure left you. Your body began to tremble and you let the soft sobs rock your body, the all to consuming feeling of grief taking over.
In an instance pip was beside you, bringing you to her chest and holding tightly. So tight you could feel the girls heartbeat, which was rapid and going a mile a minute. Battering against her rib cage.
You clung to her, after all these fives years you had wanted someone to hold you like this, to brush the tears away and say that it gets better. That time can heal wounds, but of course stuck with your father who had no notion of feelings or emotions that was not what you had learned to expect. Instead you tucked it away.
But pippa was kind. She had a sense of ease that seemed to calm your racing heart. And lull you into a sense of comfort. And perhaps, if you were being honest, she had that same energy to her. It was like having a piece of Andie with you, however small it was. Because as much as Pippa reminded you of Andie, she was almost completely 100% different. Where Andie was rough around the edges, pipa was solid, keen on the way she thought, logical. Where Andie was sporadic and lacking sympathy, pip made up for it with her soft eyes and just heart.
In the weeks that followed you found your eyes finding Pip's when you would greet her in the hall of Kilton grammar, her eyes seeming to find yours in a crowd. She was always the first to greet you, smile that pipa smile. What you were not aware of was the fact that pip had been ogling you during lunch apparently.
"What's up with Pippa Fitz Amobi always staring at you?" You blanched. Eyes wide as you eyed your best friend Seth from across the lunch table, your fresh salad you had nicked from the canteen bar forgotten.
"What do you mean? I helped her out with her end of term project a few weeks ago. She's probably just grateful or something. Not many people gave her grace over the topic" you growled out.
Seth, who was not very bright in social cues only began talking yet again. "No I mean, she's always staring at you now. She was in geography and just now when you sat down. I think she fancies you".
You had to chuckle at that, your laughter filling the lunchroom, your cheeks flushed and eyes wide, you immediately shoved Seth, "that is the most stupid comment I have ever heard!! Pippa fitz Amobi having a crush on me! Me Seth! I'm nobody. Seriously what a notion. She's probably got a few more questions to ask me."
"Well I better prepare because she's coming this way".
Your smile vanished, your eyes wide. "What!"
And like clockwork pipa was in front of your table, blue eyes scanning you. "Sorry to interrupt your lunch hour y/n, but would you mind if I asked you to have dinner with my family and I after school? I know it's sudden. I was going to ask Ravi, but I figured I hadn't properly thanked you for answering my questions"
Seth smiled from the brim of his thermos, making your nerves ramp up even more, but you stayed calm, moving your eyes to Pippa's. A small smile formed on your lips as you took in her face, all furrowed lines and nervous fingers behind her back. You half expected her to serenade you with random facts, a sign she was nervous.
"I really would love to pipa" you began, and you watched as Pippa's smile began to grow, her blue eyes alight with something you couldn't understand yet.
"That's wonderful!! My mum is making shepards pie, are you alright with that? I wouldn't want to make something that doesn't sit well with your stomach". Pippa’s nervous rambling was cute to an extent, and you only chuckled.
"I haven't had a decent shepards pie in quite  while, my father isn't a real good cook." You explained, and pipa nodded, before reaching out and taking your hand in hers, your reflex was to pull your hand away, but Pippa's touch was firm, almost gentle as she softly moved your sweater from your Palms, "it's alright, I'll be gentle, no need for a scare" she spoke, directly to you, blue eyes soft as she produced a pen from her Kilton uniform, writing her home address on the back of your palm, the nib of the pen feeling cold against your warm skin.
Seth only remained the smiling idiot he was, wagging his furrowed brows as if to say, 'is that evidence enough?' You only sent him daggers.
Turning back to pip who was on the last letter of her street name, you eyed the canteen, finding little to no teens were sat paid attention to you two. You made a small noise with your throat, watching as pip's eyes flew to yours, a sea of light blue, whispering softly you spoke.
"How's your EPQ going? Have you made any progress? About Andie?" Maybe it was the way her name fell of your lips, or how desperate for answers you were. Pippa's eyes widened, and she spoke fast, "I can't speak of it here. That's partly why I invited you round to my house. I have some more questions. But these need to be answered privately."
Privately?
Pippa must have sensed your apprehension, because she was soon smiling, "nothing to be scared about y/n. If anything your answers have changed my mind about Andie. To an extent. And it will just be us tonight, Ravi is working. I noticed how you clammed up with him last time".
"I didn't clam up, it's just odd having Sal singh's brother eying me like I have some secret I'm hiding from him." You shot back, your confidence seeming to find its way out. You couldn't help but feel that raw feeling weld up in your chest, your teeth gritted out. You felt a flush take over your face as you apologized, your words escaping you. Gosh, here pip was going out of her way to invite you to a dinner, a family dinner that is, where you were probably intruding on, and you had snapped at her.
Pippa only eyed you, eyes flashing over your flared nostrils and wide set eyes, you watched as her eyes remained transfixed to your features, her blue grey eyes darkening just enough as she eyed your flushed cheeks. You would have found that odd, if it were not for your rambling, rapid apologies falling of your lips.  Pip only halted your words, leaning in so close you could smell her perfume, strawberry and raspberry. Your heart raced out of its chest at the way Pip moved to lean over you, her eyes taking in your eyes and your flushed racing chest, the smile that reached her lips was so saccharine that it made your stomach erupt in butterflies. Pip spoke softly against your ear, like it was some sort of secret to be hid from others.  Her words were soft, velvety against her tongue, "I like when you use your voice" she spoke, "it's cute. You look almost like a little puppy, puffing out its chest and barring its teeth. Such a sweet little creature"
From the way Pip smiled victoriously over the way your eyes followed her, almost trance like, you could practically feel Seth's eyes burning holes into you, probably resisting the urge to yell "she's obviously flirting with you!".  Once your brain was cognizant enough to realize that pip had said you reminded her of a dog, a puppy at that. A puppy, the lowest of the forms of dogs. Why didn't she just say you were akin to a baby playing in the sand box? It would have irked you, if we're not for the way that pip stayed eyeing you, a shine in her grey eyes, almost like she was getting some sort of high from teasing you. It made your cheeks flush and your eyes move down to her lips, which were plastered in that smile, the one that twisted your insides in the best way.
You felt your confidence come back to you in tiny spurts, your eyebrows raising, tongue coming to peek out over eager lips, "Who knows Amobi?" You spoke, twisting your lips into a even sweeter smile, your voice taking on a different tone, "I may be a wolf in sheep's clothing, easy on the eyes, soft, sweet, so sweet that you would be blinded by what I could do".
At that you watched as pip's eyes glazed over, her usual pale complexion pink in color. "Is that so?" She began.  "Well I'll just have to see about that. Half past six tonight, don't be late" she spoke, winking at you and walking off. As she walked off, You felt a sudden pang in your chest at your realization. You liked Pippa Fitz Amobi. You had ever since she had held you that day a few weeks ago.  But you never acknowledged it, it felt to odd. Too shameful.  You hadn't had a crush on anyone since Andie, you had stuck to your small group of friends and avoided going out, mostly you stayed in your room, far away from prying eyes and your father, who was too into himself to notice your tear stained cheeks on days you would allow your mind to drift back to Andie.
It almost felt like you betraying her, being here flirting with pip, almost like you had forgotten her for a split moment. Like your pain and anguish had been wiped clean and put back together by the girl in front of you.
Pippa watched you as she sat back with Cara, the way your eyes were downcast, and she felt a pang in her heart, you were still grieving, that part was evident. But if she could just get to know you, the real you she was sure she would be able to help ease the burden. After all Andie and you had been close, close enough that even witnesses and Andie's own friends had stated that Andie had been drawn to you. Like a moth to a flame.
At first pip had found that odd, a girl of Andie's caliber being drawn to you, but as she observed you throughout the weeks she found out two things. first, you we're different than all the other students that roamed these halls of Kilton grammar. You were kind to a fault, the sort of kind that made people smile, and their days brighter. You were a ray of sunshine on a cold dreary day. No wonder Andie had been drawn to you, after all she had been through with her dad, her family life, you had been a breathe of fresh air. A oasis away from the troubles of life. But you were also a mystery, one she couldn't wait to sink her teeth into, to know every little secret you ever had.
"Shall I send off the wedding invitations?" Cara spoke, making pip roll her eyes but steal some of the girls custard, which remained untouched on the girls plate.
"It seems Pip's EPQ is not the only thing she wants to study" seth spoke, and you only rubbed your cheeks in your hands, "oh god! She probably thinks I'm a nutter Seth” you gritted out.
Seth laughed, "after that performance?? Are you kidding me!! If I was a girl I would have fallen for you! I mean, you basically challenged her back. Pip seems like she needs that."
**********
Kilton weather was often dreary, which was why you were partly glad that you had managed to bring your jumper, the air was cold and seemed to nip at your bones. You had snuck away while your father had gone down for bed, his tell tale signs of liquor cans littering the floor and the loud snores indicating he was out for the night.
Not that he minded if you went out, he usually didn't have any notions of where you were, it was a miracle you weren't one of those teenagers who abused that power. You knew many teens who would go wild with the freedom your father gave you. But with freedom came many things, the mood swings, the often vile words that would fall of your fathers lips when he drank too much. You knew he loved you, it was apparent he did, but he never had the courage to say it, never once. You chalked it up the fact that he had never had that himself, your grandparents were the typical Victorian English parents, their idea of affection was a Pat on the back and a job well done.
Drastically different than your mother. Even after years of her being gone you still felt the ache that her face brought. Etched into your memory like a painting that would never waver. Or fade. You hoped. Your mother had been your world, she had been there to pick you up and dust you of, but like everything in life she had withered and vanished. It was a car accident that took her. The icy roads of Kilton still haunted you. So you were on your own. Till Andie of course. Then you felt less alone, less inclined to be alone. Andie wasn't all smiles, she was a girl trapped in a toxic house, where her father would eye her looks, make her feel little than she was. You had understood that to a sense, and would sit and listen as she would talk endlessly about her father.
The Amobi's household was quiet, the house sitting on the edge of town, with a quiet garden in the front that you knew Pippa’s mother had loved to garden in. It didn't surprise you that right as you made it to the door, it opened. Pippa standing in the threshold, a dinner dress on and hair pinned slightly to the side, enough that you couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked.
Vastly different from her regular Kilton uniform,  although the high knee socks did wonders for her appearance.
You couldn't help but notice how formal she looked, meanwhile you were less than formal.
A blush overcame your features, eying your now less than formal dinner attire. "I didn't realize it was fancy dress" you stated, "that dress looks beautiful on you pip. Even I couldn't make it as radiant as you".
Pippa had smiled, her cheeks crimson. "Oh this? I figured you would like to see me in something more than my Kilton uniform. Please, come in. You'll catch your death out here.".
Immediately you were bombared with checkered paws and a snout that began to lick at your face, all rough tongue and eager sniffs. you giggled, moving to draw your hand through the dogs soft fur. "This must be Barney. I've been told we share a couple attributes" you laughed, and the dog only began to bark at you playfully. The moment was ruined quick enough when pip gently moved Barney, "she's not here to see you Barney".
Pip's mother, Mrs Amobi had been almost overjoyed to see you. She had reached out and had hugged you so hard your bones had nearly popped off. She had knew your mother for years and had even stated you looked just like her. It was a comfort to know.
Mr Amobi had been just as nice, smiling and telling you how lovely you looked, you were thankful that a father had noticed. Josh was next, he had quickly said hello to you and asked if you were Pippa's new friend, to which you had eyed pipa and playfully remarked that was up to her.
Dinner was pleasant. You couldn't remember sitting down to a dinner like this, where the food was made with love and care, where jokes were passed around and by the end you were filled with laughter and a full stomach. You tried not to notice pippa's eyes which were on you for almost half the dinner. It would have seem of putting to anyone else, but you noticed the way Pip's eyes would watch you as your brought trifle to your mouth, grey eyes zeroed in on the ice cream that stuck to your lips. Or the way she would make a joke, eyes seeming to smile wide when you would laugh just a little harder.  While you had gotten up to help Mrs Amobi with the dishes, feeling like a horrid house guest when she had just smiled and told you to sit your pretty self down. You had been hesitant to, but it was only then that pip crossed the room, moving to whisper something in your ear. Goosebumps arose on your forearms and you only watched as she took your hand in her own, fingers slotting against your own.
"Before you leave I was wondering if you wanted to take a look at my EPQ? It's just- I found some things you might be interested in".
You had agreed, feeling your stomach coil pleasanty as pip's fingers wrapped around your own, her grip soft yet firm, fingers caressing your skin. It made your head dizzy with want, the type that would fill your head and cause you to do stupid, stupid things. Luckily as soon as you passed into the threshold of Pips door your eyes caught sight of the board adorning the girls room. And as quickly as the soft syrupy feeling in your stomach had come it was gone. Vanished just of the sight of the crime board,
you were met with the board, Pippa's writing strewn about and evidence upon evidence filling the space. It shouldn't have made you so emotional, but you couldn't help but bring your hands to your lips. After five years pipa had managed to collect more than enough evidence, something the Kilton police hadn't the courage to do.
"You-you did all this?" You spoke, eyes turning to pipa in amazement.
She humbly nodded, "well Ravi helped me. But I did most of the work. I just felt as if I should show you" pip spoke, moving closer to you, enough that her pinky bumped over yours, the soft feeling of skin against your own making your cheeks flushed.
You eyed the board, taking in the utter dedication that had gone into it, but it was what was written on the board that made your heart stop. Not from surprise, or even grief. But anger. Anger that had grown in your chest for years now.
'Andie's secret older guy?' Written in Pipa's messy yet beautiful handwriting stared back at you. You could feel the way your heart had stilled, the world was quiet. Nothing but the board and pipa by your side.
You knew Andie well enough to know that you were just a pawn in her game. Even if she had told you she was fond of you, made you feel special, made you feel like you were important, said she saw you differently than others, she still had used you.  You were never as important as she said you were. Because it was evident from the board that she hadn't been as enthralled with you as it seemed. She had been secretly out with some older man.
You chucked sardonically, eyes moving to pip's ceiling. "Andie always did love her secrets didn't she?" You whispered.  "I know it's silly, but Andie was all I had left after my mum died. She made me feel like I was the most important girl, she would coo at me and tell me that she thought I was beautiful. And then she'd tell me to tell her she was the most beautiful girl in the world. And I would, without hesitation. But now I'm seeing parts of her I didn't recognize, or perhaps pieces that were always there but thanks to my naivety I just brushed off. I'm- I'm angry. Obviously, that she lied to me, it hurts. The type of hurt that makes your eyes burn and your body numb. But I also know that she's still out there, and even if she hurt me I'm not giving up". The conviction   in your voice was enough to cause pip's heart to stop, hoping that someday you'd talk about her like that. With stars in your eyes.
"I'm glad to hear you say that. Because I know this is awfully sudden, but- would you like to be my partner on this case?" Pip spoke, tilting her head and eying you with such soft eyes.
It was different from the flirty Pip from the canteen. Here was just pip, with her soft kind eyes, peering at you with-understanding.
" isn't Ravi your partner? I would hate to intrude-"
"I want you with me" pip has stuttered, eyes wide when she had spoken, but then her eyes calmed and she spoke again, "I want you to help me with this case. You knew Andie better than anyone. And you could be important. Theirs no reason why this case can’t have three investigators”.
You let your eyes fall down to pip's wooden floor. For five years you've wanted the chance to find out what happened to Andie, not just for yourself but her parents, and Becca. The whole Bell family, because even if they had hurt Andie, she had also hurt them in turn. When you meant family, you had no notion of adding Jason bell to the mix.
"Alright" you spoke, lips upturning into a smile.
"I'll help you".  The smile on Pip's lips was reward enough.
******
The first thing you learned about Pip was that she was different from the other girls you'd met. And you had met many, being a tutor at Kilton grammar many had come to you. And they were all the same. The same way of speaking, even the same monotone spirit in their eyes.
But Pip was different. She was clever, well educated. Her brain worked faster than others. Perhaps a touch obsessive, but you would admit that you were also on the edge between obsessive.
"Andie had a burner phone" you spoke, watching as Pip's eyes burned with excitement, Ravi sitting on her chair in her room. It had been a particularly hard day, one that lead with no leads. Till you had spoken, hoping this fact would help. You had remembered seeing Andie silence the phone when you had been studying together, saying something about a Howie Bowers.
Pip's smile was wide and she immediately rushed to you, pulling you into a hug and kissing your cheek, "y/n you clever thing! We need to find that burner phone. Where could it be?" She thought, back to her usual pacing the floor.
Ravi remained standing a few feet from you, eyes refusing to meet your eyes. Ever since pip had introduced you to the team, Ravi had been distant. You knew he liked pip. Could see it in his dark brooding eyes. To him she must have been a goddess, a girl who thought his brother wasn't guilty, who was going to prove it. Might as well propose.
But lately you had seen their dynamic change. Instead of pip always looking to Ravi, her eyes were on you. You were the one she went to, when her dog had disappeared, when she had cried and cried enough tears you had been the one to wipe them away, to calm her down.
And Ravi knew that. And he hated you for it. And you couldn't help but feel like you didn't quite belong.
You brought that up to Pip during one of your sleepovers, the ones that had become usual now. Usual enough that pip even had designated a drawer that belonged to you. Ravi would complain that it wasn't fair that you got to spend the night, but pip would just smile that smile and say something to make him smile. It usually left you with a bad taste in your mouth.
"Ravi isn't fond of me is he?" You had stated. Pip had looked up from her log entries, halting the recorder that was spewing out a very angry Nat De Silva interview.
Pip's eyes had widened, her lips upturned into a questionable smile. Brows filled with concern more like.
"Where on earth did that come from?".
You had rolled your eyes, moving to lay dramatically on her bed, "you act as if you don't see the way he looks at me. Don't get me wrong he's always been cordial. But-I've seen the way he looks at me. Like he hates me. And everything always had to be a competition for him. Like let's see who can win pip first."
At that Pip's smile was evident as she watched you ramble. Taking in your pink lips, your pale complexion, the way your sleep shirt was riding up enough to reveal your braw straps. Something akin to hunger laid in her eyes.
"And I'm not that type of person" you began, rubbing your tired cheeks, eyes taking in the ceiling.
"I don't like when people have to choose sides. Ravi's making this into some stupid competition, like if your friends with me then you can't be friends with him. and that is not who I am! It's stupid and childish! and honestly I am beginning to think I should drop out, let Ravi and you finish the case. Because I am not-"
"I choose you".
The words had halted on your tongue. Lips dry, you immediately sat up, hair a mess of curls and you eyed Pip, who sat up next to you, laptop long forgotten as she eyed you.
Waiting for your response. Her grey eyes holding so much apprehension in them.
You only eyed her with confused eyes, "I don't want you to have to choose-"
"I don't care. I still choose you over him."
Pip was close now, her form leaning over yours, enough that your heart had begun to race. "I can't help it" pip began, her face now so close to your neck, pip smiled when she caught sight of the way your cheeks flushed.
And without even a warning pip was closing the distance, capturing your lips in a kiss. You only allowed your eyes to close, enjoying the way pip was laid on top of you, the weight of her body making you warm and fuzzy.
Pip kissed like her life depended on it, every brush of her lips was deliberate, very stroke of her finger against your cheeks was soft. It left your head spinning and your lips chapped.
"You taste so good" she spoke, in between kisses, her breathe ragged and eyes wild.
Her hands laid possessively over your waist, fingers gripping your skin softly yet firmly. You don't think you've ever been this turned on before, save for your few moments with Andie.
But pip, with her lips that were unforgiving and her hands that were ticking your sides. You had never thought pip Amobi, the girl who use to ask for extra homework would be this experienced.
Pip's lips moved to your chin, your jaw, your neck. And all you could do was whine in protest.
Again you couldn't help but compare Pipa to Andie, no matter how much you tried not no, to convince yourself that they were different people, you couldn't help it. When Andie had been with you, and she had that look in her eye, that familiar glean, the way her fingers would caress your hands, then up your arm. Andie had always been a hurry. She would pull you against her in the girls toilet, shushing you and then kissing you senseless, to her it was some stupid power move. She would have you say how much you were obsessed with her, and then she would leave you even more turned on, moving to wipe lipstick of her lips in the schools dodgy mirror. She never went far enough with you, and you always wondered why.
She had always been eager, that was fact, but she had never done what pip was doing. Eying you with dark blue eyes, Mapping out every detail of your features, "it's not fair for you to look so utterly ravishing" she had uttered, looking somewhat conflicted as she eyed your lips.
Her delicate fingers moved to hover over your face, swiping delicately a piece of hair that had gotten in the way. The way pip had done it, so softly, had made your arousal burn even more.
Pip sighed, fingers moving to dip bellow your chin, gripping softly, yet enough that your breathe hitched as she lazily caressed the skin bellow your chin.
"What am I going to do with you sweet girl?" she purred, eyes dark. "I could take you here right now on my bed like I've imagined so many times, or I could take you on the floor, though I doubt it would be sanitary. Though I would fancy fucking you on my door. You'd look so cute trying to stay quiet" she drawled out, laughing when your cheeks reddened, she clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, feigning thinking.
Her smile had been confirmation enough that she had come to a conclusion. Her smile somehow looking like a toss between Pervy and downright Sinful.
"How about we start by removing this lovely top? Hmm?" She cooed, lips leaning in to kiss your lips firmly, leaving you breathless and your brain foggy. You only nodded into the kiss, and Pip very cleverly dodged your lips, wiping away the tiny bit of salvia that followed.
It shouldn't have been hot, you knew that. You knew if you were not being controlled by your horny mind you would have been sick, but from the way Pip had begun unbuttoning your night shirt, each button coming undone sending shivers through you. pip remained stoic, but you could see the control in her eyes shifting as the last button was taken of.
"I trust you pip...you can take it off" you whispered, your voice quiet and calm, yet you felt your body buzzing with anticipation.
It was then that your eyes opened, taking in the dark room, chest heaving as you eyes the girl next to you, watching as her chest rose and fell beside you sound asleep. Had all of that been a dream? Your cheeks flushed, the pit in her stomach opening up as you realized.
You were in love with Pipa fitz Amobi, and you couldn’t deny it any longer. You had to confess, for your sanity.

Could you please write a Cara Ward x reader where reader comforts Cara after Elliot is found out and arrested?? :) -☀️
Shattered Reflections
Pairing: Cara Ward x fem reader
Summary: you knew Cara wanted to be alone, most likely needed to be alone. But she had been alone for nearly a week now, and you were starting to worry. You hadn’t seen her at school, hadn’t gotten any messages back on your mobile and when Pip had mentioned with shaky trembling hands that Cara had yet to answer her back you knew it was up to you to go after her. Cara needed time, but she also needed looking after and while you knew Naomi was the best elder sister a young girl could ask for, you also knew she was fighting her own battles. There was only so much she could do. And as much as you were thankful for Cara’s grandparents all they could do was hold her close and provided a safety net. What could you provide?
Authors note: Absolutely adore Cara and wanted to get this anon this fic as fast as possible! I hope you enjoy it! It’s not nearly as long as my other ficts but I promise I am working on some long ones. I didn’t quite get to write cara as her humorous self in this so I look forward to that.
Warnings: Mentions of Sal singh’s death, Eliot ward mentions, emotional trauma, angry Cara ward, lovesick cara ward, just cara ward 😭🫶
Tumblr media
The rain came down in a relentless torrent, each drop a whispered accusation against the world. Cara Ward stood at the edge of Mill End Road her knuckles white as she clutched her fingers together. The wind howled, tugging at her coat, urging her to step back from the end of the drive. Her drive . Number 42, Mill End Road Wendover. But she couldn’t—not when her entire existence teetered on the edge of revelation.
The headlines had screamed it—the truth that had been hidden for years. Elliot Ward, loved by the town, the man who had cradled her in his arms after her mother’s death, was no hero. He was a villain, a puppet master pulling strings in the shadows. Andie Bell’s disappearance, Sal Singh’s death—it all led back to him.
Cara’s heart pounded, the rhythm of betrayal echoing through her veins. She had loved her father, trusted him implicitly. He had been her anchor, the one who wiped away her tears and whispered bedtime stories. But now, the same hands that had held her were stained with blood, and the lullabies he sang were a haunting melody.
The rain soaked through her clothes, chilling her to the bone. She closed her eyes, picturing her mother’s face—the woman who had died years ago , leaving behind a void that even time couldn’t fill. Her mother had believed in Elliot, had loved him fiercely. And now, Cara wondered if that love had been misplaced, if she had known what he had been capable of.
The rain began to stifle her, freeze her fingertips to bits. But she didn’t care, didn’t move an inch. “Does pip know your out here? She’s been calling, left a dozen messages. In all honesty I think she’s going mad not hearing from you”. Cara didn’t need to turn to know whose voice it was. The soft cadence that flew through the air was filled with childhood memories. Games of what’s the time Mr wolf. Of sleepovers that lasted far into the night and often consisted of pip telling some random facts as you giggled alongside Cara and her impressions of her year 4 teacher Mrs Linton.
She should have known you would be the first person to find her. She had snuck out late into the night, her grandparents too old and deaf to notice and Naomi dealing with her own grief locked away to bother checking wether Cara was asleep. It would only a matter of time now before Naomi would peek her head into the room and notice her gone. Cara wondered if you had texted Naomi, been sent as some sort of lookout. But Cara didn’t need a look out what she needed was her mum. And she was long gone now, departed from this earth, the only sign that she had ever lived being the bones that laid beneath the church cemetery. Cara almost chuckled sardonically, what a morbid thought, but she was use to them by now.
“I read her message and I’m not responding” Cara spoke, her voice frigid and lacking her usual gusto. You could feel your heart shatter as you eyed the girl. Her back to you, but you could still feel her. Could still feel the storm that raged in her chest like a hurricane. You had been left shocked after finding out about Mr Ward. He had always been kind to you. Ever since you had gone home with Cara one afternoon after primary school, and Mr Ward and greeted you with a small smile and a hoard of fatherly jokes that made Cara hide her face in the backseat and Naomi have a laugh.
“I didn’t expect you would” your voice was soft over the rain, you knew Cara wanted to be alone, most likely needed to be alone.
You sighed, your lips feeling chapped even though you had applied some clear cherry lip lacquer. A nervous habit you had contracted after years of being by Cara’s side. You can remember a young seven year old Cara who use to swear that lip lacquer was safe to eat and often would lick of the residue from her lips with a giggling smile.
“I’m not here to make you talk Car” you began, wringing your hands, “if I’m honest….I’m here because I couldn’t stand the thought of you being alone. Ever since I can remember we’ve been as thick as thief’s and-I care about you. A great deal. And I know I could never take away your pain or make it go away, but what I can do is be your side. Even if you howl at me and throw me away. I know your angry. I’m angry. Your father…” your voice trembled. You could see Cara’s shoulders shaking as you mentioned Elliot. Her shoulders moving in a rapid movement, her soft sobs leaving her.
“Your father deserves what he got. I know you feel that way too, but I also know you are his daughter. His flesh and blood and while you can’t look at him and call him that you can’t quite forget”.
“My father murdered a young boy y/n” cara spoke, her voice angry and brittle, “he murdered him and then made Sal take the blame. After he knew what he had done with Andie! He knew what he was doing was wrong but because of his stupid negligence and horny disgrace of a man he did it anyway!!” She barked out.
“Mum would have been-“ cara could feel her tongue halt, what would she have been? Appalled? Hurt? Betrayed?
Cara sucked in a breathe, the rain easing just enough that she could eye you as she finally turned. She hadn’t smiled for days, hadn’t felt the urge. Almost as if joy or happiness had been washed away from her. Like a toy being stripped of all of its parts until only the core remained. But here, watching you, with your sweet kind eyes and hair that flew down to your shoulders dripping with rain that puddles onto your cheeks and onto your lips. Cara could almost feel the way her eyes tilted to watch the raindrops fall down those lips, and she allowed herself too. As a distraction, as a treat, and perhaps some part of her had yearned to reach out and press those soft lips against hers, to feel the supple smile against her own, she reckoned they were smooth, flexible. Warm. Hot. Searing.
She was sure you could take it away. The pain. You took her quiet as a sign, moving closer until your watered down trainers were inches from her own and your eyes bore into her oak eyes. “Why’d you come here Car?”. To anybody else it would seem like a stupid question, a question that if anybody else asked would have made her livid. But you, you had phrased it like you were interested, like you wanted to be inside her head, to know why she had chose this house. Cara knew you knew, but she also knew you were always one for listening. The observant one since childhood.
Cara eyed her fingers which were frozen from the rain, “it was the first place I thought of, of where my family was happy. Yes mum was sick here, those memories hurt too, but it’s a bittersweet type of hurt” Cara spoke, “I came here because I wanted to see my home. The home my father hid that poor girl in. My mother would have knifed him most likely” Cara spoke, a laugh falling of her lips. “She was a Firey woman. Always making jests when the time didn’t permit it”.
Like someone you knew.
You listened, intently. Sitting beside Cara as she spoke. Her memories, her fears, her anger. You sat and listened. You knew it would take time, but you were more than happy to give her your time.
“Can I ask you something?” Cara had spoken. You nodded, a soft smirk taking over your lips. “You can always ask me something car”.
“Even if I ask you to help me murder my father and burry the evidence?”.
You blanched, and once you watched Cara’s face thick was amusement did you laugh, your cheeks red.
“Anything but that ward”.
A soft smile filled Cara’s features, a small one at most. But you were glad for it. Cara’s smile had inched down and you watched as her brows remained forward, her deep dark honey eyes now focused on your mouth.
“If I kiss you will you move away?”.
The words had made your heart beat. Made your stomach jolt and your head shake. Vigorously. You couldn’t lie and say that ever since Cara had told you and Pip you had been aware of your own sexuality. But you were far to shy to ask.
Cara was soft as her nose brushed yours, her hot breathe feeling warm from the way your cold limbs felt. Her lips were cold, freezing. But that didn’t matter because you could feel the way your chest ached. Your fingers wound in her hair, pulling her without meaning too. A soft gasp fell into your lips as Cara without thought backed you up against the wall, her eyes dark.
“I love you”.
The words were rushed, but you could have cried.
“I love you Cara Ward” you spoke, and Cara only brought you close, finally hugging you. “Please don’t leave. I don’t think I could get through this without you” she confessed. You held tight, “but you could. You could Cara.”
Cara pulled away, hands holding tightly onto yours.
“I wish I could” was her broken response. You only held her as she cried, cradling her head and kissing her skin. Cara clung tightly, like in an instant you would fade. Like all the people in her life. But as long as she had you, her tether she would be strong. She had too be. Even if it broke her.
You must have both stood out in the rain for hours, and once the rain grew too cold to Handel you pulled Cara to her feet, swiping the rain of her cheeks with a soft hand. Cara leaned in, breathing you in as she peered into your eyes.
You knew she was thankful. Could feel it in the eager way she kissed you, like you were oxygen and she hadn’t breathed in years. Cara’s kisses were soft as they plunged against yours. And you felt lightheaded as her fingers trailed down to your cheek, caressing like you were the most precious jewl.
“You’ve got me bloody falling for you y/n” she uttered, pulling away. But right when Cara was about to pull you into her to utterly ravish you a vibrating pocket halted you.
You could see the flash of annoyance on her features, but Cara relented when she eyed the screen. Pippa. You smiled, encouraged her. “She’s been waiting by the phone like mad Cara. She would have ringed more but she was at hospital”.
Cara’s eyebrows rose, “why was pip at the hospital?”.
You only pointed to the phone, “I’m sure pip will tell you all about it sweet girl”. The pet name made blush appear on the girls cheeks but you only bumped her waist, “go on”.
